A few years back my daughter and I did a Tour de PSL at all the various coffee chains and non-chains, and Peet's was my winning pick (due to the fact that it had a great pumpkin spice flavor that wasn't sickeningly sweet, and the espresso was still the star of the show). Every time I stop at this location I am thrilled with my drinks and service - the people who work here are super friendly and just plain awesome! I used to arrive late to work to drive up PCH to get to the Peet's in Redondo. Now there's a location in Rolling Hill Plaza (cue the simpering look of sublime happiness). MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I don't generally drink black coffee. I doctor it - usually a lot - with milk and sugar. At Peet's I drink it with only the tiniest splash of milk. Despite this, I have gotten exactly 1 (one) bad, yucky, bitter cup of coffee at Peet's in almost three years. IMO, the only better coffee is at the Santa Barbara Roasting Company. And even there, I have to pour on the milk/sugar. read more

As a fan of the Mermaid, I liked my visit at this Peet's. The place was clean, the guys were friendly and they whipped up my soy chai latte up perfectly. Their drinks are not as sweet as the Mermaid, but that was remedied with a packet of sugar. Its located in the heart of a busy shopping center, with ample seats inside and out. I wish they had a frequent card or a smartphone app. Yeah, that the Mermaid customer in me speaking. I don't carry a lot of cash, and to charge a $4 cup of chai seems silly. read more

Really, really good customer service here. I won an awesome drink coupon from L.A. Foodie and I felt like it was time to redeem the darned thing. I walked into Peet's unsure about what I wanted, so I asked one of the associates to help me out. After a few questions, David suggested that I try one of his favorites, the caramel chocolate swirl Freddo. As I held the gargantuan drink in my hand, I took my first sip. What I got in my mouth was a blob of chocolate syrup. WHOA. I mixed it up a bit more and took a few more sips. It was unbearably sweet. I couldn't figure out how an adult could ever finish such a thing. Feeling like a jerk, I walked back in and let David know that I just couldn't finish the drink and decided to opt for a plain iced coffee instead. Now, I'm not usually one to complain about free stuff, but I felt like it was a waste of a coupon, you know? Well, David reassured me that it was no big deal and even presented me with another free drink coupon. I was lost for words! Incredible customer service from everyone there. It really made my day! So this morning on my way to work I made my usual stop at starbucks just to find that they were out of splenda... then I shake the half and half thermos to realize that they were out of that as well... I sweeten my coffee with sugar in the raw, and cream it with 2% hoping it'd be paletable... only to find that their coffee was WEAK! I've spent all day craving strong coffee that's properly sweetened and creamed and I finally decided to head over to Peet's. If i had to use one word to describe Peet's I'd have to say they are: Consistent! Their drip coffee isn't just good, it's ALWAYS good. Their baristas aren't just friendly and knowledgeable, they're ALWAYS friendly and knowledgeable. Their cream stations aren't just clean and stocked, they're ALWAYS clean and stocked. So I'm sorry starbucks, until you train your employees to make better coffee and stock up on essentials like cream and splenda I refuse to spend 2 dollars on your coffee, unless I'm late and don't have time to drive all the way to Peets. Very good coffee here, better than Starbucks. I had a small dark roast blend. It was rich and strong, a really good coffee. Price was a little high, $2.15, for a small coffee but it was worth it. The store is similar In layout to Starbucks and other coffee stores. There are plenty of tables and comfortable chairs to sit at and a nice patio area in front. The free wifi has a good signal and doesn't require registration. Service was good. There was a short line but it moved fast. read more

Yesterday, I decided to try Peet's Coffee for the first time. The girl who worked behind the register with the super thick, charcoal eyebrows and humongous nose was super rude. No greeting, rolled her eyes after I ordered, gave an attitude, and threw my card on the counter. I asked for a mocha freddo but got water with brown bits floating instead. I'd give then 5 stars until my experience there yesterday. I might be a little harsh, but the barista needed help....lots of it...or else he shouldn't have been a barista. Normally we go to this Peet's in the morning after the rush of the working folks get their coffee fix, so it's fairly slow. I absolutely adore Ciara (I think that's how you spell her name, but it's pronounced Sierra). She's very friendly and cheerful and now knows us by name - sad huh? Anywho, yesterday afternoon we went around 4pm and it was a bit busy, so you'd think the barista would buckle down and focus a bit more on making the drinks. Nope....he was slower than a turtle and seemed to perform worse with the sudden influx of pressure put on him. There were 5 other people waiting for their drinks as well...and it took about 10 minutes for us to get ours. When my wifi decides to not cooperate, I have two choices: either Panera or Peet's Coffee & Tea. I don't know why, but I keep getting drawn to Peet's when wifi and I aren't on speaking terms. The warm, chocolate brown interior with the plushy couches and inviting golden lighting beacons me to its bosom and free wifi love. I am absolutely in amore with the baroque classics they play! Sometimes I close my eyes and imagine I am sipping tea at some cozy cafe in Vienna. Tea...since I am trying to cut back on coffee is offered in so many different varieties. So far I've tried: -Holiday Breakfast Blend (A black tea that is delightful with a dash of milk and sugar) -Pure Peppermint Organic (It makes me feel happy and tingly inside!) -Lemon Rose (The rose balances out the lemon to a mellow beautiful tea) I can't wait until I try the others! Free wifi lasts 1 hour maximum. I loved that this location was very spacious and relatively quiet, enough to study and read peacefully and undisturbed for several hours. The lady who assisted me was very friendly and knowledgeable about the coffees and teas offered, and I chose to go with Jasmine Downy Pearls. I definitely think Peet's has something Starbucks doesn't have & their coffee really is much more outstanding! My only complaint up until Sunday was that no matter how "extra hot" I order the drinks, they are not hot enough... However, I had to take off 1 star because of my latest visit on Sunday. The girl ringing me up was NOT FRIENDLY like everyone else I encountered. She was actually somewhat rude & apparently didn't even get my order right! The baristas there that day were not friendly! The staff were really friendly, and unlike most places, the barista got my name right. Most times when they ask for my name when I order, I tell them, "Edward", even though I usually go by Ed. But for some reason whenever I say, "Ed" to a barista or a host/hostess, they always look at me confused and say, "Ahn?" or "Add?" or "oohd?" or "eeet?". One day I should just say, "Yeah, my mom named me oohd". Anyway, the smiling barista got the name right, and they got the coffee right too. The apple crisp danish was delicious as well. Definitely one of the better coffee shops to study at in the South Bay. It is usually very quiet in here and once in a while will have a couple of people catching up and talking. But generally most people here are getting work done. I've come here to study and have gotten a lot of work done. The staff are very friendly and will help you with the menu if you're confused on what to order. Also, sometimes if I don't want to move because I'm studying, but know I have to eat lunch I either grab something quick from the same plaza, usually Trader Joe's or Nijiya market. But they also have Blaze Pizza, Veggie Grill, Fish Bonz, Whole Foods, etc. :) TIP: The $1 off black tie, use it. My sister ordered it, it's delicious! read more

I luh luh luh love you! Dripped coffee here is GREAT! I like mine with lotsa raw sugar and half and half please! Their roasts are much darker so if you don't like strong coffee then turn the other way because you probably won't sleep for the night! Thanks!! It's less sweet than other places I've tried which means it's definitely more for the REAL coffee lovers. Service however needs HELP! I prefer the plain coffee here to Starbucks. The coffee is brewed more often and in sparkling, glistening pots. The coffee always has a taste and aroma. The people working there are nice, but not overly friendly - I like that. Perfect for hot coffee, but I wouldn't stay to drink it there or read because the furniture is too wierdly spaced. Today, I ordered a large coffee from Peet's - dark roast. Didn't pay attention to see what blend or single origin coffee was brewing. Peet's employee: I ran out of the brewed dark roast, but I managed to fill the cup 3/4 th of the way. Would you like me to tap it off with the medium roast? Me: NO! Do you mix a Merlot with a Chardonnay? Vodka with tequila? Milk and orange juice? A lot of the training for Peet's baristas has disappeared. Many don't understand that coffee is a produce and should be treated like wine. Single origin and blends are seasonal and taste different every cycle. I've had coffee at this store and have seen the employees ruin the coffee and espresso brewing process by not rinsing out the urns or portafilters. Sad. Alfred Peet's worked very hard to teach the world how coffee should be enjoyed, and his legacy has been tainted by the training cuts that the corporation has taken to grow the shareholders' interests. Now, the baristas are not at fault. The problem lies with the lack of training and guidance to know they are handling something special. As for my coffee, I think it was the Gaia - very earthy and chocolatey. read more

Went here for the second time today. Absolutley the best double espresso I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. In my past life I had a rancillio silivia coffe maker in my kitchen. Over the 7 years or so of using that fine implement I thought I had maxed out the possibility for finely made coffee. Not so! Today at Peet's I experienced the best drawn coffee imaginable better than even I could make with my manual espresso machine. Peet's is A-OK! I came here twice this past week, two days in a row. Both times, it was fairly quiet inside, with some empty seats at the tables. I can see how this could be a good study/work spot. I think that some customers might find it a problem that wifi is offered for only one hour per customer. I gave 3 stars because I'm not a huge fan, and I don't know that I'll be coming back. I love that this Peet's is located right across the parking lot from 24 Hour Fitness! It's great for getting your caffeine kick before a workout, or for waiting if you've come early to get a number for a class. I like to sit here, get a coffee, and read before the spin class at 24. Anyway, it's a typical Peet's, with stronger coffee than Starbucks, and a less hectic vibe. It's pretty relaxed, and it's nice that this location is larger and more spacious. The baristas here are also really friendly! Hooray! There's also outdoor seating if that floats your boat, though it's got a view of the parking lot so.... yeah. read more
