First, the bad: the parking lot for this mini-plaza is a disaster. Poorly designed, blind driveways into crosswalks with drivers racing up to you and acting like you're the problem. Typical Bay Area passive-aggressive behavior. Strong recommendation to park on Juana Street, as far from East 14th as possible, due to dangerously poor distance & sightline from East 14th. None of this is the store's fault, but safety matters. THAT SAID, this is a great Peet's! You can tell that the staff are well-trained, knowledgeable, and most important: they value their customers. They're amazing at remembering your regular order. And, of course, Peet's makes the best coffee AND TEA on the planet. Two thumbs up! read more

Purchased a couple pastries for my wife and myself. Got home only to see that both pastries were incorrect and one of them was broken up in 10 pieces, despite not having dropped it. Next time I'd appreciate it if you didn't give customers broken pastries and got the orders correct. I like Peet's coffee. I always have. It seems like more and more lately, service at the front counter is secondary to everything else. It seems like there's always a line, and even if there's not a line, there's always a wait as the server is doing something with the food cabinet, or some other distraction. I hope management will re-focus/re-prioritize the paying walkup customer. I've also had occasion to walkup when someone is in training. I give them a great deal of grace because they are just learning. Remarkably, when there's a trainee, they're often faster! When I know I'm going to Peets, I actually save my emails so I have something to do when I am going to wait for the server. I know Peets and other chains are trying to migrate customers to their app and order ahead model, and that seems pretty efficient. One should not be more efficient than the other. So.....if you want a good cup of coffee and have 10 minutes or more to get it, I recommend this place. If you don't have that kind of time, you should go somewhere else in the neighborhood. It's the paper straws for me. Might sound ridiculous but I barely drank 1/4 of my coffee that I had just bought and the paper straw had already ripped in half, mind you, im commuting to work so it's a pain in the rear end to have to take the lid off and sip my iced coffee. Please get rid of the paper straws. I know I cannot be the only one struggling with those things.. lol. Also the baristas always seem like they're in a bad mood. work is stressful and things get busy, I get it. But smile .. There's always a ton of customers sitting there waiting for their coffee that they probably ordered 15 mins prior and they're all staring at yall looking all miserable. The manager is very nice and helpful though and one of the baristas, cannot remember his name, made me look at my day more positively one time. I prefer Peet's over Starbucks because of the aroma in the coffee. The Starbucks coffee generally has more of a burnt tastes where as Pete's is more fresh tasting. You can really tastes this in their black coffees, but even in a milked drinks. My favorite here is the Black Tie. It reminds me on the Vietnamese ice coffee with a fresh twist. The customer service at this location is great, they will always remake my drink if it is not perfect. My BEST days start with a cup of Pete's :) read more

We are long time fans of Peet's starting at the Walnut and Vine store in Berkeley. Until they were taken private, we were also shareholders, that's how much we believed in Peet's. The coffees are still great. Especially whatever we choose to brew at home. My personal favorite is the Arabian Mocha Sanani, ground for a French Press. This particular location seems to be too small. There are often lines. It's too tight for easy customer flow. The condiment station creates more congestion. On a positive note, service is always with a smile. Perhaps one more staff member would ease the lines? read more

I love coming to this Peet's because the baristas are ALWAYS friendly (unlike some of the people at the Safeway Starbucks around the corner). This random stranger even offered me his cushy seat the other day because he thought my chair looked uncomfortable. I knocked off a star because some of their chairs do not have butt cushions, which makes it uncomfortable to sit for an extended period of time. Delicious cup of black coffee. Outdoor tables and chairs were filthy. Indoor floor was filthy. Indoor tables needed to be cleaned. Couldn't order food as the filth turned my stomach. I know we're in a drought but tables and chairs should be sanitary. Homeless should be sent away as it is private property. I'll never go back to this location which has always been a favorite. Sat at benches outdoors on the opposite side near the burger place. Also filthy with trash in the bushes. I'm surprised that these San Leandro businesses are allowing the indoor and outdoor areas to be filthy. Shocking to me. read more

Two stars due to the horrible customer service by Areli. She was our cashier and was rude, and seemed bothered to even be at work. When asked if they had any more straws (there were no more on the counter) she seemed so upset. She opened each drawer and slammed it loudly. Good coffee when they get your order right, atrocious service. I used their mobile app for months during the beginning of the pandemic and noticed that if I didn't get my order in first thing in the morning it would be wrong or take over half an hour, usually resulting in cold coffee and with them getting my order wrong several times. After four months of using their app to reorder (maybe 4 to 5 days a week) they got my order wrong yet again after a 20 minute wait. When I asked the barista to correct it, she very rudely told me "that's what you ordered". I let her know it was the same thing I normally get and had been hitting the re-order button for months, she doubled down and insisted that it was what I ordered. Another barista just told her to remake the drink. This location just has consistently bad service. read more

I Love Peet's But this location has a terrible sense of customer service. I totally get the unprecedented times we are experiencing and it's taking time to adjust but customer service is crucial in times like this. I placed a mobile order, went to the front of the store like many people would. I waited about 20min seeing people ordering and picking up, I decided to approach the counter and Gaby with a very rude tone said, "it's in the back" so as I asked her how am I suppose to know that if there aren't any signs indicating so; then Kevin approached the counter and said all mobile order pick ups are in the back and with hand gestures let me know there is a big banner. Then he adds by saying that they don't have any intention to put any signs in front of the store. I find this extremely rude and lack of interest to provide good customer service. There's no need to be rude or sarcastic, it doesn't cost much to print a sign and post it on a window to direct customer to the designated area. Especially if Peet's associates do get annoyed to direct people to the Mobile ordering pick-up location. Unless you are parking in the back of the store or you are psychic there's no way to know you have to go to the back of the store. read more

This location can get a bit busy on the weekend so make your mobile order. There is a code needed for the bathroom which the staff can provide you. There are outdoor tables and very limited number of indoor tables. Most people come in this location mostly ordered and go. Parking is generally not a big problem as the store is located inside a small mall (there are stores such as Walgreens and Habit burger as well). Peets is a great place to get a good strong coffee. 5 stars. Food 3 stars. Their coffee beans are abundant and varied. Im a latte lover and they make a good latte with almond milk. The food how ever is a bit lacking if you get anything other than pastries or muffins. I had the bacon and egg with cheddar sandwich. No ketchup or salsa or any kind of dressing and the size was like half an actual sandwich at a full sandwich price. Stick with coffee. Brand new and freshly designed Peet's Coffee looks great and smells amazing with fresh daily in-house roasts. Im very happy to see this ultra modern yet cozy and inviting coffee shop/techy chillax zone appear in my city of origin. The drinks are made well. I usually get a customized green tea latte. However, there was an instance where there were only me and a few other people ordering and they forgot my order. Everyone behind me got their drinks before me. Eventually someone realized my drink was never made and offered me a coupon. I appreciated that. My biggest gripe is that the wifi is utterly unuseable here. It's too slow to do much of anything. Look elsewhere if you need the internet to do work or even browse. It's low-tier internet and operates slowly, even when no one is around. If you want to watch a youtube video or stream a spotify song, I wouldn't try it here. Additionally, I have Verizon and I get no reception in the store, or around the area, which is problematic if people try to reach me. TL;DR Beverages are standard. Exactly what you'd expect if you're a regular at Peet's. The internet is too slow to use for much other than refreshing your email. I hope it gets faster soon. Update: I have visited since this review during the first week of Sept 2015, and the internet is still the same speed. I got my drink and tested out my wifi speed on my laptop.
