Single barista on duty. Wasn't acknowledged upon entering. He was busy working on previous order. Noticed bathroom seem to be out of order. One can download an app to order. 20% off. Ordered with barista. Drink ready in 5ish minutes. My drink was made to order. Been in a few times as I've been slowly trying out their coffees. This is Yemeni influenced and several of these concepts are opening out here in the Bay Area as of late. This particular company may have close to a dozen already, all within the last couple of years. This one took over an old Starbucks near the Oakland Airport. Sana'ani ($5/3*) This had their name on it so it was the first thing I tried. This was a hot coffee but infused with ground cardamom. I'd say the coffee roast is medium. It was decent but not a deep flavor with layers. The layers come in the form of cardamom, it is very noticeable. I liked it as I'm not used to coffee with spices in it. I do like chai tea and this was similar. Now what I didn't care for was that the spices were left inside the coffee and cup. So there is a ton of grit in each sip. Now if left alone for over 15 minutes then I suppose most of it would settle to the bottom. Not sure if that's the move, but I'm used to sipping on coffee as I go. I usually don't let it get cool. As an outsider I just found this to be a strange way to drink coffee. Iced Mofawar ($6/4*) This is basically that cardamom infused coffee but with some dairy mixed in and this was iced. This also had grit but was more settled onto the bottom. I think they pre-make this batch. I liked this a tad more just cause I wasn't dealing with the gritty coffee as much. Cold Brew ($4/3*) 3rd visit I asked for an iced chai at 10am. Wasn't available, don't know why. I didn't want to ask any questions as the barista was by himself and was dealing with others. It was a super light iced coffee, pretty unremarkable. At least it did have a coffee flavor but not one I would return for. Pistachio Croissant ($5/2.5*) Very pretty exterior with crushed pistachio and dried flower petals. I guess they slice the croissant and spread a pistachio paste inside, not to order tho, like before it arrives at the store. Flavor was decent but the croissant itself was a bit stale. They even warmed it up on default and it didn't help the situation. I'll try another Yemeni coffee shop someday to see what else is out there. But this initial try has not been ideal for my taste. It's not in the best area, but it's one of the better coffees near the airport, or on Harbor Bay in general, haha! Better to get your coffee here rather than inside the airport, that's for sure. Just don't leave things in the car unattended or take them with you inside. The place is new new, I mean it's super clean and bright! It still has that fresh/new sparkle haha. I came in early on the way to work and it wasn't busy at all. They have a variety of pastries on display and a wide selection of coffee. You can order via kiosk or barista. I forget what I ordered, but it had honey and cardamom in it. It was tasty. It did seem, though, that the kiosk offered more options than their displayed menu which would be weird, but I didn't see the exact same items from the kiosk to the display menu. Anyway, it's a great coffee shop that offers plenty of variety. Better coffee with cheaper prices than inside the airport. Better coffee on Harbor Bay island overall. Give it a shot, but remember to take your belongings with you. Do not leave anything in your car even if the parking lot is empty. read more

After dropping my friend off early at the airport, my coworker and I needed to find some caffeine nearby. He suggested we go to Sana'a due to close proximity and drink appeal. The place is nothing impressive, operating along with a gas station. There's a menu, food items on display, and a grab and go vibe to it. Considering we arrived so early in the morning, it was just us so everything moved by quickly. I got an Adani Chai with Oat Milk. I asked for it iced but he misunderstood me and I received it hot. It was warm and spiced but nothing outstanding. My coworker ordered his own drink and pastry and said it was fine. Sana'a Cafe is a Yemeni cafe chain found throughout the state. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you are passing through, especially near the Oakland airport it's a good pick me up spot. Find them off 98th Ave with parking in the front. read more

I was in a desperate need for an afternoon pick-me-up in the form of matcha so I came to Sana'a since it was closest to where I was today. This café was beautifully decorated and very clean. The cashier/barista was a very friendly woman. Even though they just show 'matcha' on the menu, she informed me they can also do a banana matcha or strawberry matcha - so I opted for an iced banana matcha with oat milk. This was honestly one of the better banana matcha's I've had; I was particularly impressed that she blended a fresh banana to avoid any artificial flavoring. It was creamy with just the right amount of sweetness and the matcha itself was of good quality with a relatively vibrant green hue. Their menu was quite extensive so I'd love to come back to try other matcha drinks or refreshers and have my husband try their coffee, especially the Turkish or Jubani Coffee as they both sound good. I hope Sana'a is successful in this location because I'll be looking forward to coming here whenever I'm in this area of town. read more

This location is conveniently located right before you enter into Oakland airport so it makes it a perfect pit stop before or after picking up or dropping someone off. The dessert and delicious and nice variety of coffee or specialty drinks like the passion fruit mango refresher I got. I could drink a gallon of that easily haha. The pistachio cheesecake was delightful. Its definitely a nice place to get a sweet treat or different espresso or coffee drink. Try them out. Im sure you will be happy you did. Came here on a beautiful Sunday morning. Previous a Starbucks, happy to say Sana's Cafe is popping throughout the bay area more frequently then Dutch Bros. Opted for a coffee and Jojo selected the pink drink with Dabai crossiant Nagi & Mohamed were working the area provided stellar service which included asking what we normally drink and making suggestions. I ordered the iced brown sugar latte which was yummy the perfect level of sweetness! There was lots of seating and outlets to do work/study. Happy to finally have a coffee shop again in East Oakland and can't wait to come again. read more

Today was my first visit to this place, and I had high expectations. The space itself is beautiful and very clean, which made a great first impression. However, the customer service could have been better. The woman at the register didn't seem very friendly, and when we had trouble with our payment, she walked away instead of helping, leaving someone else to step in and assist us. I understand that she might not have known how to fix the system, but it would have been helpful if she had communicated that she was going to get help instead of just walking away. The other employee who stepped in to help us was nice, and I appreciated their assistance. We ordered an iced dirty chai, a Turkish coffee, and some desserts. Unfortunately, my iced dirty chai came out hot, and the Turkish coffee didn't seem well made. On a positive note, the desserts were really good and definitely the highlight of the visit. Overall, while the atmosphere and desserts were enjoyable, the service and drink quality didn't quite meet expectations. read more

The Sana'a latte was delicious. My kid's lemonade was just the right amount of sour. The desserts were tasty, too. Knafeh cheesecake was in the lead, according to my spouse. Was dropping my partner off for her exam at a testing center nearby and needed a place to work, so I came here. It's a nicely decorated, clean Yemeni cafe with an extensive menu of drinks and pastries. Ordered a Sana'ani black coffee and Pistachio Croissant. The young man who was helping me was polite and made sure to inform which pastries had dairy, which was helpful. There is plenty of work space and charging available at every indoor seat which is nice. The coffee was good and the croissant was delicious with pistachio spread and nuts on both the top and inside, with rose sprinkled on top. The only thing was the Wifi network and password wasn't listed on any visible place and I had to ask the employee for the network name, but that wasn't a huge inconvenience. The location is near the Oakland airport so I'd recommend coming here if you want a place to work/snack before your flight or if you're looking for Yemeni/Middle Eastern coffee in the Alameda area. Otherwise however is a little out of the way as it's nearby a gas station in an industrial area. I'll try to come by here again if I'm in the neighborhood! read more

This place is close to my job and I've gone there before and everything has been okay but I don't really like that there is an option to order online but they don't make my order until I get there and let them know I placed an order online. I am on my break at work so I can't be waiting super long and I thought the point of ordering online was just to get there and pick it up. Also, customer service could be better the guy working there honestly looks like he's being forced to be there and we ordered 3 iced pistachio lattes and one clearly looked like it was missing the coffee it just looked like milk with pistachio and we let him know that drink looked different to the other two and he said you just have to stir it and he stirred it and it looked the same and he was just like they're the same thing. My friend an I are not confrontational so we just said okay and left but when my friend drank from it, it did Just taste like milk. read more
