Had mixed reviews so I thought I give it a try. Service was simple. Order through the self kiosk and wait for your order to be called pretty easy and simple. No employee to customer interaction. Inside is pretty small and cozy. I ordered the banana cream iced matcha. The banana cream on top was very good, definitely the star of the drink. The matcha itself could have tasted better. The matcha taste was very plain and simple. I had beater matcha drinks at other cities. Glad I tried it. Overall I give this place a solid 3/5 review.

Love that there's a large variety of matcha and coffee options. Lots of fun drinks too! SL could use more cafe with large matcha menu in my opinion. I tried the panda matcha cream and double matcha a few times but it's wasn't as potent as I would like. However, the cream was delicious and color does look good most of the time. It was good service and I didn't have to wait a long time to get a drink. I'll be back but in moderation.

I love gold bean's location in Berkeley so I was excited to check out their second location in San Leandro. Walking in. I immediately noticed that it was a lot smaller than the Berkeley location. They had one giant table with eight chairs and self-service kiosks where you can order. (If you order on snack pass, your first drink is 15% off) I ordered the Lucky charms latte and the peanut butter and jelly matcha. Both drinks came out super fast and I was excited to them. The lucky charms latte was really good. I was kind of scared that it was going to be too sweet since the snack pass app didn't give me an option to adjust the sweetness. It didn't really taste like Lucky charms. It kind of just tasted like a vanilla latte with Lucky charms cereal on top. The peanut butter and jelly matcha was all right, I was kind of thrown off with the graininess of the drink from the peanut butter, but my boyfriend really liked it.

Have been excited to try this place out, saw it on social media a month or two ago. Went in on what I expected (and appeared) to be a slow period, 11am on a Sunday. And no other customers were in the store when I entered. Clean store inside, but small. Doesn't seem to incentivize sit-ins with only one semi-large island table. Anyways now to my negative experience. I placed my order on the kiosk. And waited. And waited. And waited. One by one, Door Dash orders kept getting fulfilled before mine. Eventually even other orders in store after mine kept getting fulfilled. After 20 minutes I finally went up to the counter and asked if my order had been skipped and they admitted it had. For the drink itself, I got a fresa con crema matcha lightly sweetened and I will say it was really really good! The strawberry foam gave the nostalgic taste of a strawberry nesquik. For the drink itself I will give 5 stars. For the POS system where Door Dash (or to-go) orders get incentivized and fulfilled before mine and for the overall sterile, doctors office vibe, 2.5 stars.

I've been holding off writing this review. This replaced the smoothie spot across Itea. This place is overhyped. I was really excited since this isn't their first location and everyone loves it. And ive seen it all over social media So I was so excited when a the location closer opened. I ordered: -banana cream Matcha for $7.75 (size medium) . I didn't love the Matcha here which was disappointing. Not a strong flavor. If a medium was already almost 8 dollars. I couldn't imagine what a large size is. -drop coffee $3.75 - cafe au lait $5.50 Extra $1 for Oat milk Maybe I'm just ordering the wrong drink. Maybe I'll try their specialty coffee, but I also hear that it seems very watered down and not as strong. The place is nice and clean since it's brand new.you order on the tablet. It can get very crowded overwhelming when you don't know what to order. Since it's downtown, you have to pay for parking.

We came in on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't that busy. We ordered 3 drinks(using a kiosk), the macadamia latte, flan latte and the cafe de olla. All the beverages came out quickly and were about a 7-7.5. Our main critique of the drinks was that they have a somewhat artificial aftertaste. The inside of the store was clean and offered a moderate amount of seating. There are also a couple tables outside. The prices ranged from $6.50-7 for a medium drink which is about average nowadays. Definitely will come back to try the other drinks and sandwiches.

Entrance. 2 outside tables at end.

Gold Bean Cafe opened recently in Be Well Juice's vacated space. Definitely a new coat of paint applied. A new logo on back wall. No other new decor seen. Mexican music in background. 2 tables outside. 1 table with 6 chairs inside. Ordering is on 2 kiosks. Menu overhead has no pricing. Just 1 person on duty prepping drinks, food. Ordered on kiosk. Some items marked 15% off. Estimated 20 minutes prep time. Got it in 10 minutes. Offerings: breakfast, lunch, matcha, smoothies, juices, specialty drinks, cold brew, classics, latte, mocha.. Pour over (L.) 4ish medium roast taste. -definitely hot, slightly harsh. Unsure if this was natural taste or was it sitting around. Tastes fresh. -didn't order anything fancier since only 1 person working. 4ish stars. Semi-worthy:YMMV. Quality/Quantity: n/a. Coffee size big *meter parking inside plaza. Free parking on side street a block away.

I decided to stop by this newly opened coffee shop in San Leandro after seeing several videos about it on social media. At first glance, everything looked incredibly promising. The menu sounded creative and exciting -- Choco Matcha, Cheerios Latte, Strawberry Matcha, smoothies, and even food options. Honestly, it all sounded phenomenal and had me genuinely excited to try it. I ordered a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Matcha, my partner chose the Cheerios Latte, and we decided to split a Chipotle Chicken Panini. Ordering itself was simple, but unfortunately, that's where things started going downhill. For three items, our total came out to over $40 before tip, which immediately felt steep. The payment process was frustrating -- both card scanners were malfunctioning, and the line quickly started backing up as multiple customers struggled to pay. The staff seemed overwhelmed and busy, so we had to keep trying repeatedly until the scanner finally worked. The café itself is also very small, making it difficult to comfortably wait inside or even hear when orders are called. Waiting outside almost feels necessary due to limited space. While waiting, I noticed several customers being told that items they ordered were no longer available or ingredients had already run out. Unfortunately, I ended up in the same situation. I was informed they had run out of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, so my only options were a regular matcha or a different topping. Considering the drink was nearly $10 and clearly marketed for its presentation, this was disappointing -- especially since the shop had only been open for about two hours that day. My partner's Cheerios Latte gave us a laugh at first because it literally came topped with three Cheerios, but the humor faded quickly as the drink itself was overwhelmingly sweet and honestly undrinkable. The Chipotle Chicken Panini was just okay -- nothing memorable, but easily the best part of the order. Still, it wasn't worth the nearly $20 price tag. On a positive note, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely kind throughout the experience. The service attitude was great; unfortunately, the food and drinks didn't live up to the hype. Overall, I'm not sure I would return. Maybe they're still working through opening challenges, but for now, I'd probably stick with more consistent options. 2/5 -- unfortunately, not a place I'd recommend at the moment.

Vietnamese coffee, Vanilla sweet cream Matcha, fresa con crema matcha
    Kristina P.

I was so excited to try this new spot because I had heard so many people mention it. They have self order stations and they made the drinks super quickly-- less than 10 minutes. I ordered Vietnamese coffee, vanilla matcha and the fresa con crema matcha. All of our drinks were disappointing. The Vietnamese coffee was really watered down and didn't taste anything like Vietnamese coffee. Their menu says it's ceremonial grade matcha, but the matcha was grainy. It had a vibrant green colored but just tasted like watered down milk with a chalky after taste. I will definitely not be going back after spending about $33 on 4 drinks that tasted like nothing/nasty milk. Super disappointed because I really wanted to like this place. The shop itself is clean and nicely decorated, had music playing which made up for the lack of friendly customer service. The waitress called my name once then walked away-- no greeting, nothing.

Very trendy cutesy coffee spot! I love the location. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Things to note: ordering is done strictly on kiosk, tap/card only, minimal seating space. The variations of coffee are endless! I like they have plenty of sugar free options also.

Vietnamese-Style Iced Coffee and Dulce De Leche Latte

Stars: 3.5 Hooray for a new cafe in downtown San Leandro! My husband and I have been into matcha drinks and coffee lately, so it was nice that a cafe opened up near our home. Here are some of the drinks we've tried so far: Banana Matcha - Although they use ceremonial matcha, I feel like I couldn't really taste the matcha :( Pandan Coffee - This one is our favorite so far. The flavor of the pandan and coffee came together nicely. Dulce De Leche Latte - I believe this one is their main specialty drink. My husband said it tasted like a starbs caramel frappe haha. Vietnamese-Style Iced Coffee - I was hoping it would be more leaning towards Vietnamese coffee, but the key word is "style". It's just a subtle hint of Vietnamese coffee. Since most of the drinks weren't as strong or flavorful as I was hoping, we scooped out the ice because we like to savor our drinks and didn't want our drinks to end up watered down. Not super wowed by the drinks, but still grateful that there's something close by when we need a pick me up. They have quite an expansive drink menu, so I would be down to keep trying more drinks.

Quick easy order system on 3 tablets available. I usually am skeptical about how sweet coffee drinks can be and you couldn't customize it on the ordering system, but surprisingly, it wasn't overpoweringly sweet. I saw the other drinks that were being made, and those ones look sweeter, but the banana cream iced coffee tasted good and not artificial since they use real bananas. Inside there's a long table in the middle but not much seating area. It isn't really one of those cafés where you can sit down and study at but more of a grab a drink and go. Overall, it hit the spot.

Juice comes with ice - never had a juice with ice.

Went into Gold Bean this weekend and was wanting to try out Gold Bean. iPads were nice to order drinks but a 25 minute wait was a lot. Entrance was packed and service wasn't friendly, went up to get my order and the cashier seemed bothered I was there and didn't ask if I wanted a cup holder since I got 3 drinks. Pointed to my drinks and walked away. Unfortunately the drinks didn't taste like I had expected or taste good. Place was crowded and entrance was packed. My juice was good but came with ice. I never had a juice come with ice. The juice was the only thing I liked.

I like to look for new spins on lattes to see what barista's are whipping up to make things unique. I came in thinking I was going to get a basic latte, but the Borgia Mocha caught my eye! I asked the cashier if it was a good choice and she recommended it. I was a little unsure how the two would blend and how much orange they would use in it, but it came out amazing! Honestly probably one of the top 10 unique mocha's I have tried and it was delicious! I loved the burst of refreshing orange that complimented the chocolate. The flavors danced on my tastebuds like two separate flavors that blended together as one. Each holding their own note that added value to the drink making it unique. I was instantly impressed and wish I found this on more menus! A classic mocha with a refreshing twist of orange was a pleasant surprise! I'm so glad I stopped in for a pick me up! Was meeting up with a friend from Berkeley and he found this spot in between the both of us. Pros and cons! + The coffee - holy shit. Got a cortado. And drank it without sugar it was so good. A touch of bitter (it's coffee - duh!) but so smooth, almost nutty but buttery at the same time. + Got a chicken salad sandwich. It came stacked HIGH with hints of sweetness and curry. Freshest produce. Honestly, I was hungry but could only eat half of it, it was so big. + Friend got a warmed cinnamon bun. Incredible. Yeasty, chewy almost crisp on the outside but pillowy soft on the inside. + Wide open space inside -- high ceilings, one big central area. Not tucked away spaces -- which might or might not match your preference. + Perfect amount of coffeehouse buzz. Music playing lowish in the background and lots of conversations. Just enough to quell my ADHD tendencies. * Honestly can't think of any negatives. Prices are a bit high but happy to pay it for such a quality experience. I think my cortado was decently priced -- maybe $6 or so? Sandwich was $18 or so but done really well and came with a bowl of soup (chips, fruit, and something else was an option instead of soup, but tomato bisque with a sandwich? Integrated into downtown Hayward just a block from the theater and other eateries and drink spots, Khao Hom has made a strong impression in the local community drawing a good following for weekend brunch as well as weekday lunch. With street parking right in front as well as sharing free public parking in the lot behind the restaurant, once you've slogged through traffic to get to this area, you'll be able to easily park and venture in for your food experience. As you enter, you'll likely need to wait for one of their staff members to seat you in one of their two dining spaces. The rooms are well lit and enhance the ambiance of your meal (and photos) with natural lighting. When seated, you'll get their food and drinks menu in addition to finding their dessert menu at the table. As standard, each table gets a carafe of water for you to serve yourselves. Their menu is quite extensive in representing popular Thai flavors with a bit of flare. You'll find curries, soups, noodles and chef specialties in their own sections of the menu. They also have some alcohol infused drinks for those looking for a full brunch experience. As a novice to some Thai dishes, I did have to ask the staff to explain a bit about certain dishes, but there were a few that caught my eye and never let go. Thai tea - flavorful and bold; rich but not too sweet Matcha latte - rich matcha flavor and creamy; best sipped and can be packed in a to-go cup if you don't finish Tom yum crab omelet - beautifully crafted omurice-esque dish where you'll find white rice encased in an egg omelet topped with succulent pieces of crab meat and smothered in tom yum soup. This dish is not only a pleasure to look at but the taste and textures in each bite will have you salivating for more until the dish completely disappears. This unique take is a must get for first timers! Roti gai tod - crispy fried yet succulent chicken served with a small serving of creamy yellow curry, white rice, and a roti alongside their delicious chili sauce. Fantastic balance of textures and flavors will have your tongue dancing from the spices. Tom kha soup - a bowl of comfort with a whole lot of shredded chicken, red onions, and mushrooms with a few big quarters of fresh tomatoes. It's not as creamy as I would like but the flavor is there with its abundance in lemongrass. The portion is large as one order can easily split into two bowls. Fried ice cream - a meal topper and sweet indulgence for those looking to try something new and rarely found elsewhere. This giant meteorite of a breaded and fried ball of vanilla ice cream is topped with chocolate fudge, powdered sugar, a generous helping of whipped cream and plenty of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, grapes, and cantaloupe). Definitely shareable and a surprising star of their dessert menu - they could definitely do more to advertise this! The staff were super friendly and quick to take dirty dishes out of the way. They kept the place clean, served the food promptly and treated all of their customers with respect and smiles. Top notch crew from the front of the house to the back. Furthermore, should you need the restrooms, they do have two gender neutral rooms that were decently maintained. Overall, Khao Hom is not your everyday Thai restaurant nor is it your run of the mill brunch spot - this is a unique experience with food created out of passion to merge these together. The result is an aesthetically pleasing yet hunger extinguishing meal that will have you discovering new flavors and craving for more. With its proximity to the city center, it's a great a spot to plan out a lunch or brunch before a nice stroll around or a movie. Thai food has never looked and tasted so good!

Grabbed lunch with a friend and we enjoyed this place…read more We shared the tom yum crab omelette and the mama pad kee mao. We both liked the pad kee mao over the omelette. It was really flavorful and it all came together really well for us. I think we were a bit underwhelmed with the omelette. It wasn't bad, but I expected a bit more in terms of flavor and it wasn't much to remember. The cocktails were really yummy and creative.
