I was looking for a breakfast spot to grab food for my partner and me before heading to work, and I'm so glad I stopped here. As soon as I walked in, Tina welcomed me at the register and made me feel instantly comfortable. I ordered the veggie scramble, avocado toast, a Red Eye coffee, and an iced hazelnut coffee. Tina even asked if I was new to the area (apparently I gave off new-neighbor energy ). After I shared that I had recently moved nearby, she gave me a lovely rundown of the business and the services they offer. It's very clearly a community hub, a place where organizations and regulars can gather and even host events. The food came out quickly, and Tina made sure I had everything I needed before I left. While waiting, I noticed locals and repeat customers coming in and genuinely connecting with one another, which was really nice to see. I haven't written a Yelp review in many, many years. The last time I was active on Yelp? My now-18 year old son looked like the chubby cheeked guy in my profile pic. All of that to say that the sandwich I just had from Zenti was so amazing that I had to write a review immediately. It was in a surprise bag from Too Good to Go, so it wasn't even something I chose. The very friendly woman handed me a bag with a meatloaf sandwich, a blueberry muffin, and a very ripe banana. The banana will be frozen for smoothies or banana bread and the tasty muffin went to my daughter. But that sandwich... Perfectly cooked meatloaf on white, lightly toasted bread with a smear of mayo and a little cranberry sauce with lettuce and tomato. Not much to look at, honestly. But omg one bite and I was in heaven. This was the best meatloaf I've ever had, hands down. I make a pretty decent one myself, but this shit was next level. I tried to save half because I wanted my husband to be able to try it, but I just couldn't stay away from the damn thing lol. Unfortunately, I think it was a special so they don't always have it. Ive gone here on multiple occasions. For restaurant week awhile back and a TGTG order as the tuna sandwiche gets smaller by the day and the options are as basic as possible- costco water and small original lays. prices are on the higher end. The parking lot gets busy even though they have reserved parking for this place, people still park there from the other buildings. Sign said they were short staff and that whoever was working alone so wait it longer. I said hello and thank you and he wasnt friendly or greeted me on both occasion. Zenti Bistro is a hidden gem in San Leandro and it deserves to be unhidden! Tina, the co owner has been God sent to me. I was looking for a venue for my post wedding party, with ample parking and close to my friends. She put my vision into life! This place is very intimate, definitely made for 50 guests. Tina has been very responsive, kind and passionate about what she does. I love how she gives back to the community and making us feel like home. I definitely would book again for a future event. What a hidden gem. Local owned. All food is freshly made, check out their daily specials. That said I came in for the second time to support the business through too good to go I picked their yummy pesto pasta salad that they had given me before. I planned to order more food and drinks, but first , I shared my too good to go voucher and she let me know she's not honoring these things anymore, but today she would accept mine. Felt horrible for them as I used to own a pub. I didn't finish my order, didn't order anything else but paid for my pasta salad. I Just wanted to get out of there fast as I could with that awful energy. Then I got my car and there was a note on my windshield about how I was not allowed to park there unless I was going to the café??!!!! WTF. I'm so sorry you're stressed. I'm so sorry you signed up for an app you weren't ready for. Customer service?!! Treating people badly that are there to support, isn't the way to go. I truly hope you figure this out. I bought a Groupon for Zenti Bistro during the holidays last year. It was "breakfast, brunch, and lunch fare for parties of two or more" The groupon says expires 4/2/2025. I went on 3/26/25. When I arrived (myself and guest). This was where you order first and then sit down. I showed the front person my groupon voucher and was told it was not valid because it did not have a price listed. I even showed him how it was still being offered on the Groupon app. He then called the owner who claimed they did not know what Groupon voucher I was talking about because they never offered this on Groupon. I was given a lot of resistance and attitude from both the front person and the owner. I drove 20 minutes here and after some bickering the "solution" they offered to let me pick a sandwich and pay for the other one. I ended up eating elsewhere. I don't understand because there were reviews on the Groupon for this voucher and thus it was used before by others. read more

Offerings ( Breakfast): bites, sandwiches, coffee, tea bar, burritos, egg scrambles... Sips: lg. coffee drip (3) unknown blend, didn't ask. -specially brewed in 10-15 minutes. My sister and I came here for lunch. Delicious and freshly made food. Homemade chili was hearty and generous portion. Sandwich was delicious too, as were homemade pickles and onions that accompanied it. Everyone was friendly and took such attentive care of us. Down to table service, placemats and bringing water to our table. Great menu so it was hard to decide what to order! We will def be back. They also shared that they have karaoke on Tues nights. They have photo booth and neat things for sale there and also rent space out on the weekends. Would make a nice venue with great catering right there. read more

I took my parents here for breakfast. We had such a lovely experience. Never knew it existed and it's so close to them! It's kind of hidden back from the street. We were greeted by the owner and she was so sweet with us while we got our orders in. The decor is really nice and the place is clean and inviting. There is not a lot on the menu, but enough to choose what you are in the mood for. She put on a fresh pot of coffee for us and it felt like we were VIP customers Prices are good, bathroom is clean. It checks all the boxes! I think like some places in the city it caters to the people who work in the surrounding offices so it is closed ( today is Saturday ) on off days. So check before you come. I got a breakfast plate and a mocha drink delivered from DoorDash. The food was wrapped well and was still warm . The food tasted homemade, and the English muffins I suspect are not store-bought, but are from a bakery. They were excellent too. San Leandro native here, literally I live down the street. Yesterday Me and my boyfriend stopped by to have lunch here for the 1st time and Tina was so sweet, she went through the menu with us, made some tasty suggestions we ordered and enjoyed her positive energy and hospitality. Oo and she sells sea moss here too, the strawberry & pear flavored ones were my favorite. And she said on the weekends she rents out the space for people to host events etc. I can't wait til she starts her IG for the restaurant. We had breakfast here last week and it was quite yummy. One of the owners, Tina Rhae who is also currently the barista, the bookkeeper, the marketing person, events planner is amazing. She has such a positive energy, it just adds to the charm of the place. We also went to their Karaoke Tuesday nights and we had the tacos there. I love the fish taco one. The Karaoke event itself has been quite nice. There were not a lot of people but they are just so welcoming there. read more

Was a cool overcast day in San Leandro and craving something warm but not heavy either. Got a bowl of chicken noodle soup. And mixed vegetables over rice. Soup had very tender rotisserie chicken. Rice was fresh and reminded me of my mom's rice, which i love. Both were delicious with homecooked flavor feel. Left satisfied and warm but not overly stuffed. Just what I needed! I came in around 12:45 and ordered a hot pressed turkey and bacon sandwich with no bacon. The cashier told me I had to custom make it I said fine, just make sure it's hot. After about 30 minutes, she started asking about my order "Did you order this? Did you add this?" multiple times....I confirmed every single time. Somehow, they still messed it up. The sandwich came out with bacon, so they had to remake it and when I finally got it, it was a cold sandwich, not hot. So after waiting almost 40 minutes, I ended up with the a cold sandwich.... I understand mistakes happen, but this was just really disappointing and definitely not worth the time or money. You should not have to wait 40 mins to get a sandwich. Never coming back here. This review is strictly on the lack of professionalism of the owner Tina. We wanted to rent the space for an event. Tina became non responsive after an attempt to confirm the date an details of said event, although she did read the text message that was sent to her. After going in person she claimed she didn't hit send on the message, and that she's "too busy" to respond. A reply the next morning would've sufficed, but almost 24 hours later with no response is not how you conduct business. Especially after you've received a "non refundable" deposit from me. Tina expected that her excuses would be acceptable. When we became annoyed and frustrated we told her that she didn't have a valid excuse and we would not be doing business with her. She came following us out of the restaurant saying "what did you say". We've requested a refund of the initial deposit that was made as Tina took our money before disclosing the deposit was not refundable. She decided that she's going to keep the money because she's a "small business". She also overcharged us which we pointed out, and she will not refund that either. I would not recommend trying to use this as an event space. In the beginning , Tina said that she was still learning how to conduct business renting this space. That's become very clear. Because she doesn't understand right from wrong, we will be escalating this matter externally. Hopefully she'll come to realize that she can't make up rules and fraudulently keep people's money. Edit: I've included photos of the message exchange with Tina. As well as timestamps. I want to reiterate that keeping a deposit, that was not disclosed as non refundable prior to payment is not ethical nor legal. Tina did in fact try to make up rules, and did not take an responsibility for her lack of knowledge and oversight. Instead she used her position as a small business owner as an excuse. As of yet we haven't heard from Tina about receiving the deposit back, although she said did in her reply. Furthermore, issuing a refund is not "grace". It's what you should be doing, legally, when you don't disclose terms upfront. I would heed with extreme caution if you chose to do business with Tina. read more

Arguably the best bistro in Downtown San Leandro. Went over there for lunch yesterday and was so impressed by everything. The restaurant was clean, the service was great, and the food was unbelievably good. Even picked up my dinner before heading out. Food: The Chipotle Chicken Sandwich and fries were absolutely on point. It tasted fresh and homemade, while also being filling and nutritious. The Vanilla Chai tasted like high quality chai (and as an Indian, I'm very particular about my chai). Finally, the soup of the day was phenomenal. I took it to go since the sandwich had filled me up enough, and I heated it back up for dinner and it was still amazing. Service: Ernie is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He makes you feel like you're welcome in his home rather than just coming by for a meal, and he's doing it all! From cooking to taking orders, he's taking care of everything and the food still comes out very quickly. Ambiance: I absolutely loved the vibe I got from this place. The music was upbeat and fun, but not loud, which was a major plus for me because every place I've gone to with upbeat and fun music is too loud to have a conversation in, let alone try to get some work done. In the corner, there's a small selection of games to keep kids occupied or just play with a friend while drinking some coffee. The decor gives the place a welcoming vibe and there's plenty of seating. Overall, I would highly recommend this bistro.
