I have been in this new location in San Leandro twice now before the official opening which is today Aug 22, 2026. I have not tried more than two different drinks so I cannot tell how good they are comparing to other boba like shop the bay area. So far, I like it because you can go as low as 15% sugar. Staff are young and newly trained. Room for improvement. In general people in love of their tea (thicker and seemingly better quality they claimed) and yogurt drinks. Super cute boba spot. Limited seating inside but the decorations are cute. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and there were 9 orders ahead of us so it took awhile to receive our drinks. However, the drinks are worth the wait. Ordered the mango coconut twilight. The mochi is kinda hard to suck out with the boba straw but the drink tastes amazing overall. Order on Kiosk which is either buggy or unwilling to accept any deviations from their standard 50% sugar, fixed ice, whole milk & tips only at $1 increments. kiosk didn't accept tapping, sliding for payment during many attempts. Oat milk (+.80) only item changeable. .35 cents processing fee. After finally paying, drink made in 9ish minutes. My name was called eventually. It also showed up on the screen on wall. Ordering line & waiting lines not too long. Parking available in lot during slow times. Menu very short: milk tea, fruit tea, matcha, yogurt, mango, coconut, snacks, merch. -very different from usual UMe locales. Sips: Uji Matcha Latte lg. +1 (7.25) -small 3 hole straw doesn't work well, had to use large. Bland mango strands mostly stayed on bottom. -very sweet uji matcha fluids. Gross tasting. Probably premade so couldn't reduce sugar content. -mix was green, white & orange. Matcha mostly invisible save for a spark of bitterness. 3ish stars. Mildly worthy. Excellent location with great staff who are friendly and the women who helped me was so helpful and welcoming. Great that they speak Chinese as well and nice to see San Leandro improving economy with great businesses. They are calm but in no rush to get drinks out which I would like to see more hustle. We waited 25 mins for our drinks which is understandable as they were busy but I think they can work on the speed. Better processes and measuring tools would help. I would want all the toppings in a dispenser lined up against a wall for example will speed things up. One person just does toppings. Anyways, so glad we can enjoy Ume near home now instead of going down to Milpitas. read more

RIP tap ex Great drinks and popcorn chicken. I hated the flow of the store of this and was hoping they would change it but they kept the entire same set up as tapex. Kiosk was not working today. Service was slow but as expected since they jut had their grand opening. The workers were all working extra hard to pump out all the orders. They had a queue of orders when they were ready. The line on opening day was absolutely nuts, but I have to give the staff here some serious credit for how calm and polite they were during this crush of people. I dropped by around 7:45 in the evening on a Friday and was standing in line to order at the kiosk, but needed to ask someone a question about how to buy merchandise. The girl behind the counter made eye contact with me and helped me out, and when I asked if I could order with her, she kindly said yes. I really appreciated that, especially with the line as long as it was. Unfortunately, they were out of yogurt, so I couldn't order any yogurt-based drinks. But I went with the passion fruit and watermelon green tea, regular ice, 30% sweetness, with boba ($7.25). I also got the cotton candy tote ($14.99) and the bunny little keychain ($5.99). The merchandise was incredibly cute and I made sure to swoop on what I wanted before it inevitably sells out this weekend. Orders were coming out randomly, rather than in numerical order, and when closing time came at 8:00 a worker closed the doors, but people still kept walking in and they had to keep telling people they were closed. There was also some sort of dispute/controversy boiling over while I was waiting in line, and one of the workers was being berated by an angry customer about his order. It was definitely a hectic opening and I really felt for the employees. In the end, I got my drink and was really happy with it. It was so delicious, and the flavors of both fruits came through. Came here last Friday for their soft opening and Monday for their free merch with purchase. Still have some kinks to work out but overall they were very friendly and stayed calm with all the orders they were handling. Drinks we have tried so far the matcha mango, guava strawberry yogurt with sticky rice, the coco mango, creme brûlée Thai tea, grape green tea, and the lychee and watermelon tea. All were pretty good and tasty. At this rate, I will end up trying everything on the menu. Staff is really slow they take their sweet time preparing the drinks and the place wasn't even full hardly any people for them to be taking their time smoking outside taking breaks every other 5 seconds. The girl putting the drinks out front just leaves them there and doesn't call out for our names to get the drinks or anything. I was very excited for Ume to set up shop here in San Leandro as I patronize their other location at Pleasanton Stone ridge mall. We went in line at 12noon and was in line for over an hour before we got to the counter. The Influencer who I believed help promoted the opening of the store has a friend who shamelessly wanted to cut us in the line. She keeps saying her friend was in line. I asked her which friend coz we were in line for over an hour and I pretty much know the people that were in front of me. She has such a thick-faced skin to insists she's next. And stupidly called her friend so I confronted her influencer friend how brazen her friend to cut in line. We all waited for over an hour to order and that Influencer told her friend you don't have to be in line and just order on the side. I HEARD HER SAY THIS. That attitude was so rude and super disrespectful to the people who came out to support this new business in downtown San Leandro. I liked Ume drinks a lot. I've been to many Ume Teas and this place was just as good in terms of their food and drink quality. But they are not set up for high volume. I went on Friday and got there at 1155, 5 mins before opening and was second in line. I ordered 3 drinks and a popcorn chicken. It took 45 mins to get my order even though I was second to order. There were drinks being made but none of them were mine and the people behind me got their drinks before me. I should not have to wait 45 mins for 3 drinks and a popcorn chicken when I was the second person to order at opening. The popcorn chicken wasn't even the cause for delay as that was ready before the drinks! If there were more people ahead of me then I'd understand but literally the person ahead of me ordered 2 drinks and got hers in less than 10 mins. One of my drinks was also made wrong as I indicated no ice cream in my matcha latte but they put ice cream in my drink anyways. At that point, I was going to be late for work and was not about to wait another 45 mins to get my drink fixed. I like Ume Tea and would like to return but not if this is the wait. I don't have 45 mins to waste every time I want a boba drink. It would literally be faster for me to drive to the Pleasanton location and back than to come here even though I live in this area. read more
