Employee named Zahara (or something similar) who took my order was VERY slow. I mean it took her like 10 minutes (no exaggeration!) to place an order for one item that normally takes a minute or less. I was seriously about to just leave, and 4 people piled on behind me while I was waiting for her. I believe she restarted my order multiple times. This Peet's location could be one of the best. It is located in a wonderful place with a lot of free parking. The area is very nice. They also do coffee pretty well and there are no long lines in the rush hours. There is room for improvement though. The employees are mostly bored with their jobs, the NEVER ask names of their customers (at least in my case the never do). If the management could take care of that small issue, like I said, this location could be one of the beast in the whole East Bay. Hopefully, the management will see my feedback. read more

I had hoped to get 2 sugar cookies because they are the best sugar cookies I've had since my childhood, and maybe ask for a hot water so I could have some tea when I got to where I was going. Finally, I had enough waiting around and being ignored so I asked if the treats in the case were the only ones that were available. I went into the store for a coffee and was really put off by the whole layout of the store. The tables and chairs were bunched up against the display cabinet holding all the merchandise for sale. The employee taking my order said that the store had been remodeled back in November. The remodel gave the employees much more space behind the counter, but my initial take on the new layout is that it is very unfriendly to customers. Customers are funneled down one line that has two places to order, one at the head of the line and one further down the line. Customers are squeezed between the long service counter and the merchandise cabinets. There is barely enough room for a customer to get by the head of the line to get to the open counter further down. The old layout was much more open and friendly. This new layout seems designed to hustle customers out the door. PS. All of the photos attached no longer depict the new layout and should be removed. The new layout looks nothing like what is shown in these old photos. If anything, new photos should be posted to show how messed up the new layout is. read more

I do not often take the time to review but the service here is so poor I felt inclined. really hoping a manager sees this and encourages the team overall to at the very least pretend to be friendly. I have worked in customer service for over 20 years - im not of the mentality that the 'customer is always right' by any means but basic communication and friendliness in most interactions should be the norm. I recently started working near by and for the past 2 months have been coming in 4 - 5 times a week. The girls who make the drinks always seem like they are bothered. Alexa in particular is downright rude and needs an attitude adjustment. She barely interacts with customers but when she does shes short and dismissive. The person taking our order today needed her help, she came over, didnt know what to do, went to the back and said to the cashier not us, yah we cant do that. When my coworker said oh? I have done it here before many times (not in a rude tone at all) she turned to her and said 'yah well we aren't supposed to' and just turned around and walked away. Hello there ! My vote will always be for Peets coffee, better then Starbucks, without a doubt. This location has great customer service. Place is cozy, love the coffee smell as soon as I walk-in. Ordered a oatmilk latte, iced, and when I picked it up I questioned it for it was literally half brown and half white, the oatmilk on the bottom. Never have I received it this way, and I order them often. Off-putting that they can't take the time to stir it like every other Peet's around. It's LOUD, feels like an echo chamber. The set up in this space desperately needs to be reconfigured, it is SO awkward!!!! Remodel gave extra space behind the counter for employees but the front arrangement squeezes the customers sitting/standing. Move the merch on a wall and add more tables IMO. read more

First time at this location is a positive one. I am normally a Starbucks person, but this Peet's is close to who I am visiting and eating dinner close by for. Banana Walnut Bread is big and has a great taste to it. Fresh and bananay. I forget that Peet's has a pretty good snack options and the size is larger than Starbucks. Nice to have something else for a change. There is only one restroom but it was clear and taken care of. Seems to be plenty of staff. My barista was helpful in what some of the snacks. The music is just the right volume to be heard and still casually talk. The signage outside is best seen driving so something for those of us waking around, it might be good to get something on the north east side of the building. I ordered a large caramel macchiato and for $6.25 this was a really expensive cup of milk. My drink is so light and I cannot taste any coffee. I used to like peets more than Starbucks because their drinks taste better and was stronger coffee but I will not be coming back. If I can give this place no stars I would! I ordered a decaf coffee. There were two baristas and they were as slow as a sloth. Two people waiting for their drinks and I was the third person. After 9 whole minutes they completed the two orders. I waited hoping my drink would come out quick. Nope. I decided to go up to the counter and tell the barista that my cup didn't have to be completely full. She said she had to brew a new pot. At that point I was livid! I told the barista I wanted my money back. The manager or whatever he was came out gave me my money back. I told him, " I would appreciate it if I was told that they were going to have to brew a whole new pot ahead of time, I've wasted my time waiting. And then would have to wait more. You're workers need to step it up." His response was, " I'll let them know." Then proceeded to go to the back. He didn't care at all about what I said. Now, let me explain myself. I was a barista for 5 years. I was able to make three different drinks by myself with in 5 minutes, specially when one is over ice. I know how fast it is to make drinks. This is why I was pissed. The coffee could have been made by the cup as well, instead of an entire pot of decaf to be made. When the barista looked at the orders she could have easily began that drip by the cup as she was making the other drink. Also, as an employee, you ALWAYS tell a customer a rough estimate of time they will have to wait for something they don't have. I had to say something. read more

Let me start by saying I'm a loyal Peet's customer and the coffee is always pretty good. This location is inconsistent though, sometimes it doesn't taste anything like Peet's coffee. The service and management are usually slow but good. I recently got an Iced Vanilla Latte and it was in three layers. I wish I would've taken a picture of it. I had to go home and remake my coffee. Ordered a vanilla latte. Employee asked me iced or hot, I said hot. The tip screen came up, I hit 1.50. She said my card was declined. It wouldn't have been. So she turned the machine back to do it again. I did and she said it went through. I asked for the receipt. Took a while for her to figure it out (I guess no one asks for their receipt?) but I got it. While waiting, I checked receipt and it showed I was charged for just the tip the first time and for both the tip and the drink the second time. I went back to the counter and another employee said yes it charged the tip twice. And he looked at me for a while then asked if I wanted the tip returned. Said it a few times, getting louder, with a line of people waiting. Anxiety got the best of me - I said no, and I went to wait for my latte. Same employee moved to the drinks counter and held up an iced drink and said well do you want it? I said that's not mine, I asked for hot. He said it was rung up as iced. And again stared at me like I should fix the issue. Not wanting to be shamed by this guy again, I left without a drink. Now, I get that Peet's isn't responsible for my anxiety, but it takes a lot for me to do simple things like go in a busy Peet's and order a coffee. $10 and I didn't even get my latte. This is the SLOWEST Peets I have ever been to. Always. There are 5 people behind the counter, and yet, the entire store is full of all of us standing around waiting. Ive never seen a Peet's take THIS LONG. Even a cold food item...my latte just came out & Im still waiting on a non heated item. They need more than 1 food warmer, and more than 1 person making all the drinks. On top of all that, the employees are not nice, not courteous, and I frequently watch them gossip & chat while theres a ton of folks waiting for items. 15 minutes for a latte & cookie mobile order?! When I asked where my cookie was after having my latte for 6 minutes, the girl pointed at someone else & said "shes doing stickers". COULD YOU JUST HAND ME THE COOKIE FOR MY KID?! I purchased a pound of beans and they're more than 2 weeks old (16 days since roast date) according to the date on the package - at most branches they are sold fresh. Ordering was quick but getting your drink is another story. It's understandable that there is a wait because it was the morning but the barista was making the drinks out of order. Multiple people who ordered after me left with their drink (lattes, etc) before me. When asked if my drink was still in queue, she said yes and that she was very busy. But then my drink got made right there, right then. It makes me wonder if I would've needed to wait even longer if I didn't say anything. Management needs to staff this location better because at one point, there were probably 20 people inside with only one barista making drinks. It was on the ice and I took it out of the drink and put it in a napkin to verify. It was a to-go so didn't get to tell the employees. Are you kidding me? Worst experience at a coffee shop in my entire life and I've been around as long as Peet's. Went into this Peet's location on November 24, 2023 (day after Thanksgiving) at 3:40 pm after getting out of movie theater across the street. We ordered two warm decaf drinks. My drink came first as it was a Pumpkin Spice Latte and the bald male barista with thick and fluffy black beard served up drink on bar and added the spices. He gave me the drink after putting lid on and then my wife got her drink which was a Holiday Spice which he spiced up on counter. We grabbed our drinks and exited. As we are at the crosswalk light signal I took a sip and lo and behold my drink was completely cold. I told my wife and she tried it too. She confirmed the obvious error (seems like it was on purpose as it would be very hard to make this kind of mistake if you are even a little conscientious about your job). No doubt my drink had no attempt even made for a warm drink. My wife tries her drink and it's like luke warm which is still pathetic even though it's better than my drink. My drink was not consumable at the cold temperature. My wife drank her drink but she was not happy either. So just getting this out there as a warning not to spend money at this particular location. Never had any problems at any other Peet's anywhere; even out of state when went to Washington D.C. I would give a zero if I could but Yelp does not allow a lower score. Management needs to take heed here as this employee is ruining this location and Peet's reputation overall which was very good in my opinion up to this fiasco today. read more

I don't have any complains about their coffee but the employees. they're all nice but I wish they would wear gloves and masks during COVID-19. I noticed some do, some don't. When they started doing the procedures of where they were taking orders by the door, I've seen some staff not wearing masks, nor gloves AND used their phone while they were taking care of the pastry they had in order for other customers. It was so unsanitary especially if you're using your cellphone at work and taking care of food. But what surprised me the most today was I made an order online through their app, and the picture shown on the app and the drink that was given was completely different. I have been to this location a few times now and my experiences have been hit or miss - about a 50/50 mix. Today was a miss. I cannot say I have ever had a really good experience here, let alone a good experience.
