This was the meet up spot last night for Transition-To-Green festive bike ride. A perfect location with plenty of parking spots that were unattended after 1900. Looks like it can get busy as they offer parking validation and there's a tiny hub at the parking lot entrance where the parking police usually hang out? After our 8-mile fun but semi-intense bike ride, we definitely needed to quench our thirst. I normally go for their hot beverages but this time I decided to try Peet's Mango Sunrise Iced Tea. My friend ordered their Hibiscus Berry Iced Tea. My friend was unhappy with her drink. She said it tasted like cherry flavored Nyquil. I asked our barista if we could change out her drink. He seemed very apologetic and gladly remade her drink to match mine. He apologized again and handed her a free drink card. We reassured him it wasn't his performance in mixing. Some flavors just don't mix well with some people. I prefer Burnt Crumbs' sweet tea with peach purée over Peet's mango sunrise iced tea. The drinks quenched our thirst. We received excellent service here. The place was clean, warm, spacious, and inviting. I'd be a regular here if I lived nearby. I'd most likely stick with their hot beverages. read more

Horrible rude service definitely a racial component to their behavior. I came with friends and the staff was unwelcoming. They spoke rudely to me, when I asked about using the restroom. I asked because it was locked, and she replied quickly "yeah that's because someone is in there"... I just thought they may have the key. What a bad experience. read more

Extremely woke and disgusting Pete's coffee location. It pains me to say this because Pasadena used to be a classy city; however, it has only gone downhill and even affected this business. The second I walked into the store today, I smelled the worst possible smell upon entering through the front door of this coffee shop. It literally, excuse my language, smelled like shit. I expressed my disgust loudly near the barista after realizing the horrible smell was actually emanating from a homeless person with luggage and supplies, not the barista as someone might initially assume. In today's climate, where misidentifying someone's condition or situation can be seen as offensive due to radical liberal policies and a heightened state of wokeness, it's tricky to address these issues without causing a stir. I mentioned to the barista that allowing such situations to persist in the store was unacceptable and even asked if she was aware of the smell. She responded that she could not smell what I was referring to. I emphasized that there was a distinct smell, and it was being overlooked, which could pose a potential health risk. A health inspector should definitely inspect this place, especially considering that the source of the disgusting odor that spread throughout the store was indeed the homeless person. I hope Pete's Coffee management sees this and takes immediate action, as this is clearly a health violation that needs urgent inspection. read more

My Americano was good and served quickly. The layout of seating is questionable as it seems to be in all Peet's locations. This isn't so much a place for work, or creative stimulation. Mainly for excellent coffee and prompt service, and serves its purpose fabulously. read more

I met up here with a few friends to catch up. Located southern part of Lake where residential areas start, this location is a great place since it has an open patio with seats in the same plaza as Fresh & Easy and Einstein's Bagels. The staff here is friendly and the lines aren't very long. If you're sick of the typical Starbucks or CBTL, Peet's is a good option if you run into one. I had an iced jasmine lime tea which was surprisingly good. I basically said.. I'll have what's she's having knowing my friend comes here often. To my delight, it was refreshing and not overly sweet. When I run into a Peet's, I'll be craving for their iced jasmine lime tea. Ample parking can be found in the plaza past California Ave. read more

This place is right next to Noah's bagels which is a fave for lunch and the Nova Lox.. it shares a sunny little courtyard where people study, read and chat.. there aren't a ton of tables, but usually enough to go around. I love to get a pot of tea.. it's just so cozy and cute. and you can also walk to the Fresh N Easy Market that is right up the little stairway from the courtyard. They all share a little parking lot that is a pay lot, but they give you a reasonable amount of free parking time and you just get your ticket stamped at Noah's or Peets. I really enjoy it, it has more of a home town feel than Starbucks (although I do love SB too) read more

As coffee houses go this place is pretty good; the knowledge of the Baristas though vary - which is to be expected in a place that has such high traffic and probably a decent amount of turnover. This Peet's location has so many things going for it. Nice outdoor seating area, South Lake location adjacent to Fresh N' Easy and Einsteins Bagels, dedicated parking lot, casual vibe and nice mix of patrons. Decent place to burn a couple hours on a Saturday chatting it up with a friend. That's the positive. Now the negatives. Simply put, the brewed coffee regularly taste 'burnt' here, to the point of barely being drinkable. Given the brewing size and amount of water/beans its understandable that some batches of coffee may taste this way. But I find this to be the norm at this location, even for their medium roast coffees ( I do however recommend purchasing a 1lb. bag of French Roast to brew at home, its quite delicious). The service is somewhat friendly, but painfully slow. Its really a bad marriage between hipster baristas and conservative Patagonia-wearing Pasadena weekend warriors. Somewhere within this creative conflict of styles, it takes 2X as long to get your basic coffee requests completed here. Acceptable if you're camped out with your MacBook pretending to study, pretty unacceptable if you have to be somewhere within say, 1-2 hours time. I realize Peet's is a chain and change happens slowly or not at all. Speaking of chain coffee shops, I even see a couple Pasadena Starbucks stepping it up with Clover brewing machines at their locations. With so many other choices for good coffee in the city of Pasadena (Jones, Jameson, Intelli, and Urth Caffe coming soon) Peet's has really fallen off my coffee radar. read more

This is a nice Peets to go to for relaxation; I don't usually get much done here, however. The outdoor seating is awesome because you can kick back and gaze at Mount Wilson while you sip your brew. One of the highlights is definitely their employee "Brother Bear" who calls all his regulars "brother" or "sister" and converses with them as if they were old buddies. As for their baristas, they are good. Nothing spectacular like I've experienced up in Oakland (Temescal location on Telegraph Blvd) but they have never ruined my drink either. read more

I came at what I'm assuming was a busy time (around noon) on a Friday. There were about 4 people in front of me and only one person working the register. It seemed like everyone took their time deciding on what they wanted. When it finally came to be my turn to order, the cashier decided to allow the lady behind me go first. She talked to her like she knew her so maybe that's why but I was very annoyed by it. She had a lot of bags of coffee and gift cards but that shouldn't give her the right to go in front of someone who was in front of her. Finally someone else came to another register to take my order. I got a chocolate and caramel swirl javiva with almond milk. The barista didn't put enough ice in it and it was very watery. I was very disappointed. I drove all the way from Whittier to this location and I will not be back again . read more

Over to this Peet's about every other week for the past 11 years. I am one of those souls who still reads The NY Times, then before exiting, deposits the newspaper in the basket by the glass door. Reading is essential to my ritual along with either a small regular coffee---black, if I like the brew; otherwise, with some kind of dairy additive and sugar---or lately, I've moved to imbibing a small, iced coffee. That I prefer black. Not that I haven't already had a Peet's coffee at home, first thing. Usually Major Dickason's. Periodically, I'll break out the espresso machine and make a latte. It was tragic when I realized that I couldn't drink Peet's after 1 in the afternoon because I would be up all night, feeling creative and drugged, in that order. In 1969 my boy friend at the time, of Dutch extraction, decided that it was time for me to be introduced to the original Peet's in Berkeley. The smell of roasting coffee would permeate the neighborhood, now known as the Gourmet Ghetto: so strong, pungent, wafting through the air, showing the way. Once inside the store, there was Mr. Peet, also Dutch, in the rear, tending the beans in a little coffee roaster kettle... what a guy! read more

Staff are nice and drinks are cozy. Their dark chocolate mocha is my favorite and I don't even like hot chocolate!

This particular Peet's Coffee shop is located in one of those small charming shopping plazas with slightly maddening parking situations that seem to populate much of Pasadena's more urban areas. Like many Peet's stores, drinks here are not cheap - my 12oz. Mayan Chocolate Mocha cost 4 bucks! However, I did like what I had (can't beat that milky smoothness!) and I thought service was friendly. Located and connected to an Einstein Bros. Bagels shop , this Peet's Coffee also has excellent outdoor seating - the environment is enhanced by surrounding statues of children at play and a small yet well manicured lawn. It's quite a lovely experience to sit down here and unwind during a sunny day. read more

I used to like this location until the extremely unpleasant experience I had w the employee here. Shortly after i got my bev and food, I realized I made a mistake ordering a regular muffin when I wanted the vegan option. So I went up to the register asking if I can have the vegan option instead. (The muffin was not touched) There were 2 employees behind the counter and the male barista helped me. BUT The female employee (w a short /medium length dark curly hair) who initially took my order had this annoyed look and kept saying "you said just a blueberry muffin, not the vegan" Uhh..I know. I know that it's my mistake for forgetting to say the vegan option. I apologetically told her, "yes, sorry I meant to go for the vegan one" but she repeated herself again and again with the annoyed look on her face. It really is not about the muffin. I don't mind paying for another one if that is Peet's rule. But she wasnt saying that either. She just wanted to announce to the world she didn't do anything wrong when everyone already knows that.. with so much anger in her voice. I was trying to let it go and think perhaps she is having a difficult morning (it was a morning after Christmas) However the situation escalated when I sat down to eat at a table. I could clearly hear her turning to the male barista, complaining and insulting me by calling me "silly" etc OUT LOUD. Perhaps she judged by my race and assumed that I can't understand English. I felt extremely upset and passive- aggressivley attacked from the unprofessional and rude encounter with the female cashier. This is my first bad review and I am not happy about it, but I want to warn other customers for the potential mistreatment and nasty attitude you can recieve from the female emplyee. I have lived in Pasadena for 14 years and never had this type of ingenuine service before at a coffee shop. I will never return to Peet's. read more

Love the Peet's in Pasadena. Been to alot of coffee shops in Pasadena, and Peet's is one of the best. The interior is clean and has multiple places to sit. I especially like sitting near the windows, where you can watch the cars drive by and you have a great view of the San Gabriel mountains. There's also some patio seating if sitting outside is your thing. The coffee shop is right next to an Einstein's Bagel, so you can get your bagel fix if you like too. Now onto the coffee. I've tasted alot of coffee around the area and I have to say that Peet's and Jameson Brown are the best. Jones Coffee Roasters is pretty good too. You can definitely taste the beans in their coffee and latte's. I usually order the Vanilla Cafe Latte and you can really taste the roasted beans and vanilla. The quality is on par with Intelligentsia. Cons: They blast the air conditioning so it's funny to see alot of customers wearing jackets and sweaters inside while the weather is roughly 90F outside. But I think the thermostat is fine. Sometimes, the seating area can get a little bit congested when there are alot of customers sitting down. This place gets NO STARS. Every times we have been here we have had problems with orders. Questions/requests are met with eye rolls. Every other Peet's has a listing of their teas- this morning we asked about a tea list and were met with -"describe what you want and we will tell you what we have." (Eyeroll) After 3 rounds of q and a we finally just asked about a tea we knew they carried. Isssue #2 we asked for a medium americano with (3) shots (NOTE: Every other Peet's we go to has a 3 shot medium americano - in fact they have TOLD US their medium has 3 shots). What we almost got - a large americano (that was the order that was called out by the person at the register). We quickly went over and told the barista to dump some of the water in the large cup. Issue#3 we asked for almond milk for our tea. We asked if they had unsweetened. This was met with yet again another eyeroll. Will have to say the barista was excellent. But the rest of the staff really needs work. We will not be back here again as this is the third time we've had a bad customer service experience at this particular store. read more

I do not remember ever going to A Peet's Coffee & Tea place while I lived in Los Angeles...or in Long Beach...or when I was in Orange County...or while I stayed in the High Desert...but upon a quick stay in Pasadena, I visited this particular location. I will consider this visit to be my very first visit to a Peet's Coffee & Tea location. In a choice between Starbucks Coffee (located right across the street) and Peet's, my friend opted for Peet's coffee because, and I have to believe her as I feel she is a coffee-connoisseur of sorts, she likes Peet's coffee better. I don't do coffee, so their Masala Soy Chai was not bad at all. It did lack a certain spice I was looking for, but for the most part was sufficient. In terms of location, it is quite a busy place. It is linked to a bagel location as well (which I will Yelp later) and customers go through both bagel and Peet's for either/or service. Customers behind me were willing to wait in line at Peet's, as was my friend, and the service was wonderful. First 90 minutes is free with validation at this parking lot located on the quick turn of the corner of Lake/California, so be sure to validate. On this lovely rainy Sunday, we parked free...no ticket, no validation. Seating is limited, so if you find one, you find one. Good job Peet...I think we'll be friends. read more

Mark is awesome. I was trying to order my usual coffee and breakfast thru DoorDash this morning, and breakfast wasn't on the menu (at 915am). So i called to check if they were out and he said no. I told him nothing was coming up on DoorDash. So, being the extremely awesome nice guy that he is, he told me to order my coffee and he would throw in my sandwich on him. That was extremely nice and something he definitely did not have to do. His enthusiasm to do it made it even more special. Definitely put a smile on my face this morning. I ordered a coffee. Medium roast. The purchase was handled okay. I was asked if I wanted a dark roast or medium roast, but not if I wanted room for cream. I sat and drank it at the bar, looking out at the southern end of Lake. When I got to the bottom of the cup I noticed a bunch of coffee grinds. I guess I would compare this to a mediocre Starbucks experience, except I ordered in small / medium / large instead of odd Italian words. I think the last time I ordered a drink at a Pete's I got an iced coffee and those generally don't have coffee grinds. read more

Peet's is the best and I'm so glad I found out about this one on my way to work! First off, parking is pretty chill as far as I know because I just stop in before work to grab a cup. They have a private lot with some guy working the front gate, who asks if you'll be less than 20min. I guess if you stay longer you may have to pay, I cannot be sure about that though. It's also next door/connected to Einstein bagels and shares a complex with fresh n easy! This is cool for those who missed their breakfast. The coffee place itself is so gorgeous! I love that they have bar seating, in addition to indoor and outdoor tables. I have a preference for French pressed coffee, and they offer that with whatever grinds they have available...which is a lot! I've been just going down the list trying a different one, whenever I feel like being adventurous. The French pressed coffees take a few minutes, but I am perfectly happy with just waiting at the bar and watching the morning crowd. It's never been insanely crowded, and when there is a line, it moves quickly. The baristas are always super friendly every time I've come in. Love the service here. The taste of the coffee is also perfection, nothing beats Peet's! I just wish they had salt, so they could add a pinch to the coffee grinds before they let it brew...also I wish this were walking distance from my work, but I'll settle for a little detour on my way. After a filling dinner at Lemonade just across the courtyard, went into Peers for a dessert run. There's no vanilla latte at this location (although it is listed on the website) but I did get a coffee drink with hints of cinnamon, citrus, maple syrup and soy milk but can't remember what it was called exactly. The drink was delicious though. I also liked how they had their own library. If you want to take a book, replace it with one of your own. Cool idea. One of my favorite cafes now!! So my girlfriend wanted to come here and Im glad she brought it up because it has literally become one of my go to places. We are big fans of chai lattes with pumpkin spice, and when we tried it here, it blew our mind. The way I ordered it was a Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte with whole milk. The latte was the perfect temperature when I received it, it wasn't too hot where I had to wait awhile to drink it. Instead you can take a sip right as you get it. The froth was nice and creamy and worked so well. The chai here is just the right amount, its not too strong and spicy and its definitely not watered down like Starbucks. What makes it perfect is the seasonal pumpkin spice which smells so good as its by your nose. Every time I get the chance, I stop by Peet's since I know I will love the drink each time. read more

On a positive note, I love this Peet's! Even when slammed busy the three guys that hold down the fort are so nice and have great customer service. The guy that worked the register at 1:34pm today is always so great and welcoming(he's helped me on busy and slow days and is always amazing). After having terrible customer service from next door at Einstein's bagel, and angrily eating my sandwich, it's refreshing to come over immediately after, be warmly welcomed, and get great quality product and service. You guys rock, even when I've heard customers be not so nice, they still were amazing and great! Ordered a vegan breakfast sandwich and ice cream espresso. A little hard finding parking on a Sunday afternoon and had to walk a block. The sandwich was not bad, but I don't think I'd ever get it again. Everything was ready in less than two minutes. read more
