I had only ordered tea at Peets until I received a gift card and purchased some coffee to brew at home. It was much better than I expected. Everyone has their own preference for coffee and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable that they'll explain the various coffees so you know which ones to buy. The first 2 bags of coffee that I bought were great and when I went back for the 3rd bag, Jenna Lynn (sp) helped me. She was very sweet and knew so much about the coffee. I hate to be one of those people that prefers Starbucks over all other coffee joints, but I just can't get myself to like Peet's despite the various times I've tried this place. Taste-wise, they're great. I never had any problems with their drinks and I love how they have customizable options, but their customer service holds me back from visiting more often. Though not terrible, I don't get very friendly vibes from their baristas. This location is also packed which makes the experience a bit uncomfortable if I'm looking for a relaxing visit. Prices are also a little steep for the sizes. Overall, they're OK, but they're not my first choice. read more

Peet's is my go to place! I literally love it here. I come here all the time to get work done. It's definitely a great study space, and everyone knows it. The seats fill up quickly so I'm always on the look out for seats when I'm come in. Quick tip: their WiFi is spotty at times, so try using Tender Greens or Retail Center WiFis instead. Hehe. Peet's is often very busy but there's always a positive pleasant vibe whenever I'm there. Their staff is incredibly friendly and great!! My drinks are always ready in 5minutes or less, and the baristas take the time to make a quick conversation. * Please install an electronic way to tip your staff!! I rarely carry cash :'( I've had a variety of their drinks and here are some brief thoughts: Matcha latte: 8/10. I prefer it hot over iced. Smooth, not too sweet but sweet enough for someone like me who doesn't like black coffee. Cold brew fog: 9/10. Keeps me going! Definitely a great drink if you're trying to stay awake and want some coffee that's half as sweet as Starbucks. Love love love. Hazelnut latte: 9/10. I've only had this hot but I definitely have to try it iced. The barista recommended this to me and I loved it! Unique rich flavor, but not too heavy. Vanilla latte: 8.5/10. Definitely one of their sweeter drinks on their menu. But of course, nothing compared to starbucks' level of sugar LOL. Javiva Blended: 8/10. Great refreshing blended drink on a hot day. I prefer the normal coffee flavor. Sunset mango tea: 9/10. Very light and refreshing! Great fruit tea. A bit sweet, so adjust it if you prefer more bitter teas. Otherwise, I definitely recommend! Great to have a cup of iced tea after so much coffee. Coconut black tie: 10/10! Recently got this because it was a recommendation of a barista. Have to say it's my new favorite drink at the moment. A unique twist with the condensed milk-- makes it a bit on the sweeter side but super tasty. I personally love it because of the coconut flavor. Honestly, im always a bit hesitant to try new cafes.. But i decided since i had some time to spare, why not try peets? environment: Pretty good actually. Since it's right by UCI you might see a lot of professors or students but it's still a pretty quiet place. A good place to kind of have your "own" time, Drinks: Their coffees are definitely better than mainstream cafe branches. But the prices do make me cringe. I had their tea in a pot this time and that was pretty good too! But on the tea, be careful not to leave it in the pot for too long. The tea will become bitter. Yikes Service: Meh... This is normally a great store or so I thought. I normally order on the app and then pick it up in the store. Today I decided to go into the store to order. They couldn't take orders or deliver orders to customers. There was a long line for no reason and it took about ten minutes for me to actually order a simple coffee with only three other people in front of me. They gave my coffee to another customer who returned it five minutes later. The workers then tried to give it to me. I asked for a new one and they reluctantly agreed. Another ten minutes had gone by. Luckily I was paying attention and not on my phone or I would have had a coffee someone else drank from. Today was a horrible experience. Do they not provide basic training on how to be a cashier, make orders, and food safety? Nothing but an acknowledgement from their customer service team after I submitted my concerns on their app. They've lost a customer. This is just gross. read more

[SERVICE: 4.5] The service here is pretty much always great. The workers always greet you when you come in or right before your order. They always seem energetic and friendly. Although sometimes it gets quite loud in here so they may not always get your order correct. Or they might miss one word and that could alter your whole drink. So just speak loud and clear and don't be afraid to ask them to repeat back your order! [PRODUCT: 5] I love all the drinks that I have ever gotten from here. The iced matcha green tea latte and the iced earl grey latte were fabulous replacements for coffee. The iced white chocolate mocha espresso drink was fantastic as well. It is a bit pricey though (about $5 for a small) but sometime they'll have 50% coupons and my total for one drink was only $2.10 with the coupon! [ENVIRONMENT: 5] Its a very adorable cafe with a lot of tables and chairs but it is a small space so it does get crowded and loud. A lot of people come in to study or do work so sometimes there's not always free tables or chairs. [OVERALL: 5] The place is very clean and the service is always great. I am a fan of Starbucks coffees , but I liked the smell and taste if this coffee a lot. I ordered non fat vanilla latte. The large size is not that large compared to Venti in Starbucks. The only negative this is that I asked if they have a healthy breakfast( something with egg whites etc.) and they did not have it. So I only had my coffee. read more

First visit to Peet's coffee and it was actually pretty good. I usually go to Starbucks due to convenience, since there's 3 on campus and 2 off. I got a small Black Tie, and it's pretty good. I like the flavor of cold brew mixed with condensed milk. I didn't want to risk getting a larger size, since it's my first time coming here. After drinking all of it prettt quickly, I did end up regretting not getting a medium or large. Ordering process was fast, since I checked in and paid through the app. My coffee was prepared really quickly too, a lot faster than any of the nearby Starbucks. This the perfect place for college students to get their coffee fix. I think I'll be coming here more often instead of Starbucks. read more

This Peet's is a great place to go if you wanna get some work done -- if you can find a table! There are always college students/professors here, so a lot of times the tables are always taken. There are also plenty of tables outside too, but there might not be an outlet nearby if you plan on camping out for a few horus. Overall, place has a very cozy feeling, and I really like it. As for the drinks, they'realright. Nothing too special. I usually just go for the caramel macchiato because I love me some caramel. The iced teas are pretty good too, but make sure to ask for light ice. If not, you'll end up with 90% ice and 10% drink. The staff here is friendly and helpful, no complaints here! read more

This was my first visit in Peet's Coffee and certainly my last. Came into this establishment out of a whim, since Starbucks was a mile away. It was early, I needed my daily dose of coffee and I was famish. Here I was, eager to start my day with nice breakfast and a hot coffee, but boy was I disappointed. I ordered one medium coffee and two danishes, I asked the server if she could warm my danishes, since it has been sitting in the display counter for a certain amount of time. She responded; " We don't warm anything here". This has left me disgusted! Because the last time I checked we are not living under a rock and that a microwave should be at least available. Not mentioning that this is a violation of health code. Fortunately the coffee was not bad, hence the one star. The danish on the other hand,well it's cold. I'm a huge fan of this Peets. Sure, the coffee is amazing and the seats are comfortable and sometimes there are entertaining conversations that are good for eavesdropping, but my absolute favorite part about this location is a particular barista. I won't say her name, though sometimes I wake up in the middle of night with it on my lips. She is a gorgeous German goddess with luscious pink lips and a pert little nose. Whenever I am having a hard day, I pop into Peets to see her genuine and welcoming smile. She is always fashionable, sporting tall anthro boots, oversized thrift store knits, and simple, but classy tops. Her golden brown hair falls gently around her face and sometimes it takes all of my effort not to kiss her all over. Oh, how I long to one day call her mine. But- for now- I will continue to daydream over my cappuccino and scone. (Don't fret, my darling. I never leave crumbs on the floor and I always leave large tips.) Someday, I will whisk you away to a faraway island where we can make passionate love under the twinkling stars until the rest of our days. I had one thing on my mind the minute I walked in: Nerds. And not because I was going through my occasional nerd fever, it's just that was all I saw....everywhere. You know how when you walk in somewhere and everyone takes a glance to see who walked in, and vice versa when you see the door open? Well, when I walked in, the sea of laptop carrying dudes poked their heads up to reveal a sea of glasses and bad haircuts. And it was THE QUIETEST, full coffee shop I've been in! Anyhow, I didn't let those nerds scare me off because I was determined to try their Americano my friend kept telling me was amazing. As a daily drip drinker, I had my doubts. But I'll be damned if that Americano wasn't the best I've had! Man, I'd be converted if it wasn't for the lower caffeine content. I'll keep their Americano as my weekend or evening drink but will switch to a different, more rambunctious Peet's. read more

I just stopped by to purchase beans and was very unhappy with the service (I normally go to Lake Forest, and it's always great.) I asked to purchase Arabian Mocha-Java beans. The girl, (Kate) asked how much I wanted. Knowing that Pete's likes to keep the beans fresh and doesn't stock a lot I said, "I'll probably take all you have." She told me, "you can have whatever you want, you just have to tell me how much." I asked what the biggest bags are and she told me again that they could do any size. I again asked what the biggest was, "biggest is 3 pounds right, can you see how many you have?" She told me the biggest was 2, and the guy making drinks corrected her to 3 pounds. I said I'd take 9 pounds total, just whole bean, in the big bags. (We go through a lot of coffee at the office.) She comes back and says they don't have have that much. I repeated the first thing I'd said, "then I'll take all you have." She rings me up then asks if I want the free coffee. I asked for a latte instead and she said she'd have to charge me the difference. (So I'd have to hand her my card back as she'd already rung it up.) I told her nevermind. I stood there for a minute and finally asked for the beans. She looked confused until the dude making coffee told her just to give me the bag. (Like I'd asked for.) Once I got out the door, I realized she hadn't given me the receipt. When I went back in for the receipt she said good, I forgot to have you sign it 0_o I love Peet's Coffee but I won't be returning here. Just walked out of this place, and I love it already. I wish I found out about this place while I was a undergrad at UCI, because this place would probably be my to-go study spot and I would probably go broke due to spending an excessive amount of money on coffee. I never was a big coffee fan, but after waking up at 6:30am for the past 5 months & as a grad student, coffee should be an essential. I still don't know if it works on me, but we'll find out tonight, I suppose. I got the Vanilla Latte because there is a deal if you check in for $1 off! So make sure you check in. I got it with nonfat milk because yakno, gotta watch the flab, and it is, oh my delicious. I love the coffee smell, but I just didn't drink it because it never worked for me. I found that tea could keep me up for hours, but coffee just made me sleepy. I'm weird, I know. As an ex-Starbucks employee, I am kind of embarrassed because I asked for the stoppers (so my coffee wouldn't spill all over car).. don't ask because they don't have it, haha. Worst Peets ever. Actually worst cafe ever. Drove all the way here to get work done while waiting for my boyfriends late night flight to come in. I chose Peets because they were open late on a Friday night. Worst decision ever. First of all, my maccha green tea drink just tastes like warmed milk... And that want even the problem. The problem was that the wifi didn't work. I ask the store manager (or I assume she was because she seemed older and more authoritative) why the wifi didn't work and she didn't seem to know what was going on. Apparently some guy had come in to fix it earlier in the day and no employee had bothered to check if it had been actually fixed or not. They didn't even seem to care that I was disappointed that it wasn't working and didn't even try to do anything about it. Next time I go to a coffee shop to do work, I'm going to check if the wifi works before getting a drink. I'm not wasting my money and time coming to a place like this. LESSON LEARNED! read more

For some reason this Peet's fails to satify me in any way. The prices are really high, and although i'm not a Starbucks fan, I would rather go there than go to this Peet's. The workers must have some sort of problem following directions. My co-worker got a caffine-free late. and lo and behold, it had caffiane in it. when we asked if this was her order, the girl had to second guess herself. most likley she just said 'yes". i ordered a hot coco with no whip cream. They got the no whip cream portion right. However, the hotcoco tasted mearly like hot water with a little bit of chocolate flavoring. would i return here? i would not. read more

I'm sorry but the coffee sucks. I didn't think that things could get worse than Starbucks.....but guess what? Don't get me wrong. I remember a time when I enjoyed Peet's very much. They were my go-to spot for coffee whenever I saw one around. Today, I find that I'm consistently disappointed by their poorly roasted beans which produce an extremely heavy cup of coffee. I like strong coffee when it's a quality brew but "full flavor" should be FULL, smooth, and rich, not acidic and bitter. The only reason why this place gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because the service is very friendly. It's not very fast but it's consistently pleasant day or night, and I can appreciate that. The staff was nice and the drinks we ordered tasted good, but rather sweet in my opinion. My tourist friend was fine with it. This Peet's has been really good to me in undergrad and now in grad at UCI. Why have I waited this long to write a review? Actively Yelping is new to me! Anyway, let me recount some of my fond memories and experiences with my ol' buddy: *Yeah, I never studied here much, but that's because it's so popular. Still, Peet's has always been there for me, with relatively affordable, not-sugar-injected, STRONG coffee. Peet's is up pretty late too (11PM). Yes, I'm still talking about a coffee shop. *This past holiday...Pumpkin freddo. 'Nuff said. *I order my pumpkin freddos with whipped cream blended in. This was the only establishment that didn't "skimp" on the drink by giving me a larger cup for my concoction (because blending whipped cream into a drink would not warrant the same-sized cup with a FLAT covering as a drink with whipped cream put on top in a dome-shaped covering). ...Yes, it matters to me. *The baristas are willing to do strange things to your drinks...like blending in whipped cream. *The servers are really friendly. They messed up on my order one time, and although it wasn't a big deal to me, the guy offered me a "free drink" card for my next visit. You normally only get those for buying a gift card. *There's one specific server here (blondish hair?) that is really personable, cheery and really tries to make his customers feel welcomed. I haven't seen him lately, but then again, I haven't visited as of late. *My most recent visit, tonight, I checked in to try out the matcha green latte. Without asking for it, the server told me about a buy a pastry, get a free matcha latte deal despite me not having the coupon. Sure, they were closing up, but it was so kind of him! Ehhhh, I wasn't really impressed by Peet's Coffee and Tea. The coffee was fine, but nothing to write home about (unlike Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's coffee, which I think is MUCH better, btw). I had a cappuccino, it was very hot (plus) and had a perfect amount of foam (plus), but the roast of the beans themselves wasn't all that tasty. Usually, I like my cappuccino to be so damn good that I don't even want Splenda, but I found myself reaching for the aspartame this morning. Also, the place was DIRTY. Not okay. The inside wasn't welcoming at all, the tables were sticky, and the floor had trash on it. I left around 11:15 and the place was getting PACKED, so I would avoid coming around lunch time. read more

I go to this coffee shop to kill time. I read, text, eat & congregate with particular passerby's, I enjoy the breeze the shopping center seems to muster up on a warm day. Few employees can pull a decent shot of espresso, and I require them to do it three times, put whipped cream on top and waalaa my drink of preference The Con Panna. If the Accommodating Barista is not in attendance, a simple Iced coffee will do. TIP* For those of you in need of an outlet there is a secret one on the light pole outside by Golden Spoon & you can access the wifi from there. I go here so often that one of the baristas, Amanda, knows what I typically get and will be all like "the usual" when I walk in, and I'll be like "yup" and then I get my medium Americano. I was first introduced to Peet's when I started my job now in Irvine. Everyone at my work drinks Peet's and I must admit, Peet's is one step above the competition. Also, my close friend works for Peet's and she is really proud of this company and what they stand for. This Peet's in particular is the one I always go to for my company's monthly coffee beans. They are always Super friendly and welcoming, despite how busy they are. I order 8lbs of the Espresso Forte whole beans in 1 lb bags and it's a big order but they make sure to do it right. All the bags are exactly 1.00 lb never under. They offer to give me a comp small coffee with my large order and one time was even nice enough to comp their new drink for me to try. read more

1st time ever trying peets coffee and I was not impresssed. I got a blended caramel coffee which tasted outrageously sweet.. gross!! And I got an iced coffee for my coworker which literally tasted like black strong plain coffee with ice.. I was highly disappointed and won't ever go back.. sad to say McDonald's mccafe coffees taste ways better! This one-star review is not due to the service (which is average), or the coffee (I buy the aged Sumatra regularly at this location), or the internet (which has never posed any issues for me); this one star is for how unbelievably COLD it is inside. It can be colder inside than outside in the winter. I'm from the east coast, so I understand real winter, but the temperature inside this Peet's is unacceptable. I tried asking the staff if there was anything to be done about it, and was told that this issue has persisted for A YEAR, even after alleged attempts were made to address this problem. I have a hard time believing that this is a difficult issue to fix, and I am so deeply disappointed in the management for not doing so. It would be a great place to work, even without bathrooms (the other patrons are good enough at keeping an eye on my things), but the fact that you have to bring mittens and a coat in anticipation of the Peet's frigid climate is just ludicrous. After working for three hours, my hands and feet are numb and I'm shivering Unfortunately, other guests share my experience. I would love to see this change, otherwise I cannot continue to visit. read more

They have a HUGE selection of tea! which is really neat but I usually don't order the tea here because I always feel like I can make tea at home. I think the service here is awesome. I came in here late at night with my boyfriend the last time I was here and I spent a good 10 minutes talking to the barista trying to figure out what tea I wanted. it's also a super cozy place with couches and everything is just a warm color which makes me want to sit there for hours reading a book. I've honestly never been inside a Peet's before in my life, let alone ever ordered anything from one, but I decided to order one of their Javiva Blended drinks in the Matcha Green Tea flavor! Surprisingly I really liked it! It was so good and I'm happy I finally tried this place out, especially since I've been going to UCI for almost four years and have never step foot in it even though it's at the UTC plaza.
