Inside is cozy ,there is also outdoor seating in the backyard. It was late afternoon , there was a small crowd but not to busy. We ordered from the everyday brunch menu. Steak ,eggs and grits $27.50 Chicken and toast $19.50 and a side of mac & cheese to share. I enjoyed the steak it was sliced and cooked to my likeness. The grits were nice and creamy. The fried chicken and waffles come with fresh berries. The amount of powdered sugar on the french toast made it more of a dessert. The portion size is not a lot , not a little , but just enough. This restaurant was on my list for a while. It's really busy on the weekend and they do not take reservations. Thankfully, it was just me and one other person so we were seated quickly. The food was okay in Peaches. I got the fried chicken with french toast. Since it was boneless meat, I thought it would be white meat. However, it was dark meat, which I typically do not eat. Disappointing Experience at Peaches - Poor Service Ruined the Night As someone who usually enjoys sitting at the bar, I was disappointed to find Peaches in Bedford-Stuyvesant has a very small and cramped bar area, so I opted for a table instead. Unfortunately, the service from our server, Selma, was the low point of the evening. From the start, Selma made us feel rushed and unwelcome. Her attitude came off as dismissive and, frankly, borderline racist. Before we even had a chance to settle in or receive our appetizer--which never arrived--she was already pressuring us to order our main courses. I politely asked her to slow down and allow us time to enjoy the appetizer we were still waiting on, only to be told we were being rude. Seriously? Anytime I come here it never misses. It's always pleasant here from the ambiance, the vibe, and the people and food. This time I had the smoke salmon scramble and it was delicious. The pickled purple onions were a great addition to the eggs and the grits are to die for. Nice and creamy full of flavor and I think Gouda cheese yum. Fresh toast. My meal was SURPRISINGLY good, and I never say that lightly. I was torn between the catfish and grits - and the boneless fried chicken with french toast. I was leaning toeard the first choice in my mind already when the waitress suggested getting FRIED (you have to ask for the fried option) catfish and grits. Listen!!!! It came in a hot skillet and good thing, because I might have tried to lick the plate. On a Saturday evening around five this is the place to try soul food. OMG, I cannot adequately describe how good my cornbread encrusted catfish was along with the delicious and properly seasoned collard greens. I ate ALL my food. I wasn't leaving nothing on the plate. The food was delivered hot and in a short time. My friend girl's blackened catfish and grits were all she talked about during the meal. She said the grits were the right consistency and seasoned well. She was stuffed. She had to take a doggy box home. Our waiter was gracious and knowledgeable. Not pushy. The background music was loud enough for you to hear but not so loud you had to shout to converse. While slightly overcast, the weather was warm enough for those who wanted to eat outside. First, I want to say the food here is absolutely amazing however, the service leaves much to be desired. We got there right as they opened for dinner, at about 5pm. My party and another party waited patiently by the benches for a host/hostess but after 15 minutes there was nobody there and it looked empty. Turns out we were waiting by I guess what is their lounge/private party space. There was no signage indicating that we had to go next door to be seated and despite calling out multiple times nobody came by to tell us to go next door. There is a gap between the spaces , so it's not unreasonable to believe there are 2 different restaurants. Despite all that, we were seated reasonably quickly outside. Unsure if it was because we were outside, but it took waitstaff quite some time to come out to take food orders and drink orders. Now the food, that was delicious! We had the oven baked grits as an appetizer and there were hands down the best grits I have ever had and the arugula salad that came with it was delicious. For entrees I had the Spice Seared Salmon which was delicious! My companions had the lemon pepper chicken (absolutely loved) and the St. Louis Spare Ribs (also quite tasty). We had the option of indoor and or outdoor seating and while the weather was pretty decent on this day we opted for indoor seating. Our waitress came over right away offering us water and shortly after to take our orders. I decided on the chicken sandwich with french fries and my partner the steak and eggs with grits. The fries were nice and hot and seasoned and were the highlight of my meal. The chicken sandwich itself was not bad, but I would've preferred white meat vs the thigh that it comes with, I did feel it was a lot of breading and so when biting in I would get a lot of breading vs meat. My partner enjoyed the steak and eggs along with the garden salad that's included, but was not a fan of the grits. I did the Dusse Lemonada, it had a kick to it but was refreshing considering the time of year. The restaurant appeared somewhat dated. There is a more of an ambiance and vibe here but the fried chicken that I had at the Hothouse was far superior to the fried chicken that I had here, which was a bit fatty and greasy. My intention was to visit Peaches Hothouse today but alas they had some outage so my friend and I ended up here which was definitely disappointing because we chose Hothouse for the difference in menu. But as for Peaches service was probably the best part of this spot. Impeccable. Very helpful server and the hostess was lovely. As for the food, the chocolate cake was subpar and did taste a little stale/old. I masked it with the fresh fruits and the ice cream that was probably some basic grocery store frozen food isle carton. I would skip it. The portion was great, otherwise it just was not very good. I actually liked the mac and cheese which took me aback. There was an oniony taste to it which I liked quite a lot. And the cheese pull was spectacular. The pasta had a little bite to it which was great texturely. I would suggest this item for sure. All the food came out at once which I don't think was the best move because the ice cream was half melted by the time I'd gotten partly through my mac and cheese. Made me feel a little rushed to finish my mac so that I could avoid drinking ice cream soup. I don't know if there was any air conditioning but it got very hot in the space. I explain the situation and he apologizes and sends someone. I place my order FRIED SHRIMP AND GRITS .... I receive regular shrimp with grits it's like. Uh. Should I just take the hint and leave cuz clearly they just don't wish to listen to my little order. Lord this isn't working out as I intended. Literally scared to get the ordered switched. WTH happened here. Years ago this place was literally such an awesome vibe. I would bring family and friends from out of town just not it today or last two times :-( Update... before I left the manager can't and explained and apologies. Asked for my feedback and even comped the entire meal. This warmed my heart that they even care to read the reviews. I've been to peaches before but I just want to show love for this Brooklyn classic. First let me say from the moment we walked in the service was on point. Ericka, Ashley and Keyz were amazing to say the least. With this staff on board, how can you loose. My partner and I stopped in for a quick bite. Didn't get to take any photos because it was a murder scene, food was demolished. All and all I suggest the crispy Brussel sprouts, wings and the arugula salad and spinach artichoke dip. Calamari was on the salty side and gon head remove that baked grits item from the list, it's holding you back from excellence. My GF and I am had recently ordered peaches through DoorDash and while the gumbo she ordered was absolutely sensational, the Chicken and toast was unfortunately not up to par. I had bitten into this chicken thinking I was going to get a juicy flavor blast as I usually do but I was unfortunately met with the ghost of what was once there. It was definitely a saddening experience but Other than that, the Toast and fruits that were apart of the dish were amazing.
