One of Lacy's pics during her walks. She's saying "I love Pawsitive Paws!"
    Rachel A.

Pawsitive Paws has been walking our dog Lacy over the last 14 months. My husband and I talk about how lucky we have been to find Karla and Steven on literally a weekly basis! They are so kind to Lacy and it is obvious they love her as much as we do. They are extremely flexible with no minimal walk requirement, which works out perfect for our busy schedules. We simply talk to Karla and Steven I'm a weekly basis for our upcoming needs for the week. After each walk, we get a super cute picture of our pup as well! They are also extremely reliable and have great communication about the walks and if anything came up during their time with Lacy. We have even had Karla and Steven stay in our home when we are away, and Lacy is better behaved than we left! We cannot recommend Pawsitive Paws enough!

RoRo loving her walk/park time with Pawsitive Paws!

We have been using Pawsitive Paws for over year now, and we can't rave about them enough. They really care for all of the animals they look after, and provide parents real time updates and photos, which I personally love! We can't speak highly enough for Steven, Karla, and Alex! One time we were at Skinner Dog Park, and Ro saw Alex and went crazy for him. That's when I knew she really loved them too! Another great example of their business, is when we got a text from Steven that Ro had vomited and pooped all over her crate. He cleaned her, and stayed with her until we arrived to make sure she would be okay. They are also great about following up with you in advance regarding needed walks for the week, and are flexible when something comes up. I know that we will continue to use them for a long time, as there is no one else that we trust more with our pup.

Karla, Steven, and now Alex have taken care of our Newfoundland, Lenny, for the past two years, ever since he was a small puppy. They've walked him daily, stayed in our home for weeks at a time (while we were on our honeymoon), given him walks on short notice, and overall been extremely pleasant to work with throughout these past two years. Newfies aren't exactly small dogs, so trust me when I say that these guys can take care of any size dog you might have! Many people consider their dogs as part of their family as we do, so it is important to have walkers that you trust, and I'd recommend Karla/Steven/Alex to anyone that was looking for a walker or sitter. Couldn't be happier with their service!

Its amazing how far my dog has come since training classes with pawsitive paws. My girlfriend and I first met trainer estebon while at the dog park. He was very polite and asked her name, then told our dog (joy) to come and sit. We thought it was a fluke but that was the first time she had ever came and sat on command outside, and it wasnt even for us! So we were pretty much sold after he told us he was a trainer. Our nightmare was walking joy. She would pull so hard it was torture and had almost no attention at all to any commands outside, and every squirell or rabbit she saw she would go absolutely insane. Our first class joy was walking good with estebon, but still pretty bad with us. Throught the sessions it really became more clear that esteban was training us more than our dog. We learned that we were doing alot of things wrong and my girlfriend and I worked really hard every day correcting our own interactions with joy and building a stronger bond as pack leaders. We did training sessions once a week for 6 weeks with esteban, and did our own training everyday to build on what we learned in class. By 2nd class joy was manageable on leash for walks, she still needed correction, but to be honest i let her get away with alot on the leash. Now she walks very nicely. Not perfect, were still working at it but now our walks are enjoyable. We are able to call her out when she is focused on a squirrel and get her to leave it. Even in the park with dogs and other distractions, now when we call her and tell her to come she listens and responds to her commands. Esteban is an amazing trainer. You can tell right away he genuinely cares about dogs and helping you build relationships with your dog. There were times when he even stayed a little after our training session time was up because our dog was doing so well that he wanted to keep up the good work. He also is easy to talk to and doesn't make you feel silly for asking entry level questions like i did. One of the biggest things i think helped our training is that esteban came to us for trainining. So we practiced walking in our neighborhood and though our park and trained off leash at the dog park so every training was in real world situations. So if you need some training for your pup I would totally suggest pawsitive paws. I posted a picture from our 3rd training session where esteban got joy to relax in front of a squirrel that had some major confidence.

Coop hanging out with some of his buddies!

On March 5th of 2017 I made the best decision not only for Cooper my rambunctious, hyper, wet nose kissing, energetic Vizsla puppy, but myself as well when I decided to entrust him with Pawsitive Paws. With living in the city and being a teacher on the North Shore, I knew I needed a dog walking company that I trusted and would love and treat him like their own. Like most, I went with the top TWO companies on yelp. Both with 5 stars AND each had over a hundred reviews. I thought it was a mindless choice. After countless times of no one coming to walk him, the walkers hanging out inside my apartment and skipping out on the walk, or having uninvited guests over during overnights, I knew I needed to start my search over again... I know, every Dog parent's nightmare! Well I did what I should've done in the first place, I asked Coop's best dog pals Mom's and Dad's who they use. Did I mention Coop is a social butterfly? No joke, after the 10th person said Karla and Steven from Pawsitive Paws I reached out literally the second I made it back to my apartment. Karla met with me THAT DAY and it was love at first sight for Coop and I. Karla did just what I needed, she listened to everything I had to say, she wasn't busy writing everything down... She just listened and let Coop warm up to her. She showed her passion for animals and dedication to Pawsitive Paws, both are something I admire. I used to think buddy walking was a no go for us, but their theory is if they are already alone all day why not let them have a dog buddy to walk with (check out some of the pictures of coop with his pals and try and say they aren't having a blast). After our meet and greet she shared with me that Steven would not walk him until Coop and I met him. This was like music to my ears! No strange or unfamiliar walkers, sign me up! Well we thought Karla was a dream come true, Steven is just as good! It must run in the family! Steven has done several overnights with Coop and between the videos and loads of pictures I receive I know he is having a blast! I always say the duo should take up dog photography as a hobby because I get the most amazing pictures/videos of Coop every time they walk him, which makes this momma so happy! They go above and beyond to meet my schedule and last minute walk requests. The topping on the cake is whenever Coop sees them, he absolutely loses his **** and needs to say hello. Karla, Steven, and Pawsitive Paws not only has Coop's recommendation, they have mine and even his Grandmas (always the toughest critics). Keep up the amazing work; they are literally a dream team! The only thing stopping me from writing a review was I selfishly want to keep them all to myself .

Grooming: I initially took Cooper here for doggie day care since I was working and going to part-time business school. I noticed they offered grooming and decided to try them out since their rate was less than at Kaiser's. The second time I took Cooper for grooming, he came home with such a close shave! Lisa told me they had to take extra fur off since it was matted. I thought it wasn't a big deal until a year later when my husband and I noticed that Cooper's fur was not growing back. We took him to the vet to confirm it wasn't due to a medical reason, and she told us that his fur had been cut down too short that it destroyed his fur follicles. Please see the attached before and after photos. We are distraught that his beautiful fur has not grown back (his neck especially remains bare). Doggie Daycare: The dogs are not given walks during the day. Instead, there are just pee pads on the floor so that the dogs can relieve themselves inside. This can be very counter-intuitive for a puppy who has just learned to be house-trained.

Stephanie was very responsive and immediately set up an introductory call to get to know my needs and everything about my cats. Stephanie and her team took great care of my cats while we were out of town for a week. The app that Chicago Urban Pets uses allows you to include all the information, and pictures, of your pets. When the sitters come to visit, it lets you know when they have entered your home and after the visit the sitter sends you a detailed report and pictures. It truly allowed us to enjoy our vacation and know that our babies were being very well taken care of. Thank you Stephanie, Abbi, Oliver and Victor!

Chicago Urban Pets Review…read more We called Chicago Urban Pets in advance of our arrival to Chicago. We requested their services for 1 hour with our dog in our hotel room while we would be gone for less than 2 hours. This is what happened. Text message to company: Stephanie, Unfortunately, we aren't very satisfied with the services of the sitters. They arrived late, at 11:00 am, for a one hour visit due to "transport issues." We made it clear we were checking out of the hotel at 12:00 pm. We also made it clear we needed a one hour visit between 9:30-11:30 am. We left at 9:10 am and returned at 11:30 am while the sitters were still present. They said they had just gotten back to the room with Ivy. By our calculations Ivy's walk was very short. Additionally, as a result of the sitters showing up late, Ivy had an accident in the hotel and the hotel is charging us a $250 deep cleaning fee and a $100 annoyance fee. One of the two hours that we were gone was dedicated to your services that we did not fully receive and it also cost us an extra $350. I never want to poorly review any company, especially a locally owned company. But I feel I have no choice in this case. Is there anything I am missing regarding your policies for sitters showing up late? Jodi Watson Text response from company: Hi Jodi I am very sorry to hear about these unforeseen's. Additional costs from the hotel is no one's idea of a good time. Looking over our notes and communications it looks like you had expectations that were different from the nature of our policy and I will make sure Sophie calls you Monday so we can clears things out. Best Stephanie, owner Resolution: I spoke with Sophie on Monday, Jan 30th. The company felt a fair resolution would be to charge us $40 for a 45 minute stay, instead of $48 for a one hour stay, although the sitters were alone with Ivy for 30 minutes. The other 15 (ish) was with us present upon our return to the hotel. Sophie stated the policy is that if you book a sitter from 9:30-11:30, they can arrive at any time between those hours. So, technically, they could have arrived at 11:30 and stayed til 12:30 - even with our hotel check out at 12:00. Had we known this, it would have changed our timing of events and it certainly would have changed who we chose for an agency. The Gwen Hotel recommended we use their Consierge service when choosing a pet agency in the future. We feel this is a good idea.
