I love Rockstar Pets! My pug Ozzie has been going here for enrichment for about a year now. He is very well treated; he's eager to go in whenever we walk there and the staff give really nice comments about him and communicate whenever there have been issues (like one time when he hurt his paw a bit.) I also love that when we leave town, we can board Ozzie in the same place he already knows, with the same great people looking after him and also all his pup friends! Also the location is very close to the eastern end of the 606 so it's quite easy to walk/bike to from much of Bucktown/Wicker Park. read more

My dog was a member at Rockstar pets for a year. I originally picked RSP as it's very close to my house and they are open until 7pm. There was a waiting list so expect that. I loved the online scheduling portal. The staff was always really nice and caring and the facility was clean. My dog injured her paw pad once at RSP. When I spoke to the staff about it they offered suggestions of how to make her comfortable and comped her stay for that day....which I appreciated and shows they felt bad. They also send photos of your dogs day. See below. The only reason we left RSP was I moved. I highly recommend sending your pup to this facility. read more

I highly recommend Rockstar Pets! Our lab puppy has been going here for a little over a month now and absolutely loves it! He is enrolled in Puppy Kindergarten which is daycare plus training. He has gotten better about going in his crate and basic commands. We are still working on the jumping but has gotten noticeably better since day 1 (he is still a puppy, after all)! We also love getting pictures around lunchtime. The staff at rockstar are all incredibly friendly and helpful. They help address specific things I want to work on with my pup and he does seem to be getting better! They're very responsive via phone and email. Five stars! read more

Truly the best dog daycare in Chi town. They really get to know your dog, and I felt so good about leaving my pup, Potato, there during the work days. Potato went through a phase where he was having a hard time at daycare (we think because of some temporary construction noise behind the building), and the Rockstar team was so transparent about it with me and really worked with me and Potato to figure out what was going on and resolve it. Potato and I moved recently so we had to say goodbye to Rockstar, but we miss it, and if we could commute from California to Rockstar, we would! read more

I take my husky puppy here for daycare and boarding, and he can be a bit of a handful but they take such good care of him. As soon as we walk through the door he starts wagging his tail and howling so I know he loves it there and I trust them with my pup. As someone who doesn't leave reviews for things I just want to say to the folks at Rockstar Pets, Thank you. They treat their clients and they're pets like family. Thank you guys for all the help and care you've given our boy (big boy shepherd mix). Elissa, Alex, Nicky and all have been a second home while helping to build structure and enrichment into our dogs routine. I can't recommend Rockstar enough to the people looking for a daycare/boarding facility. Its also important to note that my schedule, as well as that of my wife, is volatile at best. Things pop up and disappear constantly. Rockstar Pets has never batted an eye at taking our dog in for the weekend or canceling the day before he was supposed to. Alex has the worst customer service and manners in the world!! My wife bought me two puppy training sessions for $180, which is already ridiculous and not worth it. Well the first session didn't go well, and their trainer left them, so we went somewhere else. We had a baby and forgot about the 2nd session. I tried to get our $90 back as nowhere does it state there is an expiration. Alex was a total Jerk, and when I asked what he would do if he were me, he said "well I'm not you and I would never let something like this happen." WOW! Well we also had a credit at Chi Town Dog House. They refunded our money and said we were welcome back anytime. Go to them, or really anywhere else. AWFUL!!! read more

Rockstar has been a savior for us. Our puppy was 6 1/2 months old when we got her and not socialized. She was afraid of other dogs and most people. She now engages in play with other dogs whenever we're outside and is less scared of strangers. She absolutely loves the staff at Rockstar Pets. We love the fact that Rockstar is patient in working with her one on one in basic commands and handling. Their enrichment program has provided both the day care and training we need. Rockstar has an engaging outdoor area for the dogs. Our dog would spend every moment of the day outside if she could, so we really appreciate the safe, playful outside space. Rockstar pets has been taking care of my min pin for at least 2 years now. My dog loves the outdoors, so their outside play area is perfect for him. I get to see what he's doing, thru pictures they text me daily. This puts my mind at ease, when I'm away out of town. I will sometimes go to Petsmart if it's closer to where I'll be but it just doesn't compare to the attention and love Rockstar Pets shows its doggie clients. On Halloween I took him for a party there and I saw them training a whole school of dogs. I think for a longer stay I may look into getting some specialized training too but even with the normal daily play outside, my dog is plenty satisfied. I have been meaning to rate Rockstar Pets for some time now. When I saw the negligence of another company's driver and the stolen van, it drew me to write a review of a company who is very cautious and responsible. We're so lucky we found Rockstar Pets! As neurotic new dog owners, we did exhaustive research on where to board our recently adopted, 1 y/o mutt Ziggy. After reading all of Rockstar's reviews, we were sold, even though the place is nowhere near our apartment. It's been worth the Ubers. Elissa was incredibly helpful and fit him in last-minute for two daycare evaluation days right before we had to leave on our trip. Every staff member we interacted with clearly knew and cared about the dogs at daycare and boarding like they were their own. Ziggy has stayed here twice now for week long periods, and in all the daily photo updates we've gotten, he's been having the time of his life playing with the other doggos! It's basically a big (supervised) dog party. We also noticed that the somewhat structured play environment has helped with Ziggy's manners at the dog park! We've used several different daycares/boarders for our dog Penny over the years and Rockstar is hands-down the best. Penny can be a bit anxious especially in new places but the first time we dropped her off I could tell that she was made to feel very welcome and would have the best care possible... I was amazed at how quickly she got comfortable--now it's like a second home for her. The staff are all friendly and accommodating. It's also awesome getting pictures of her out playing sent to us, makes being away from her a bit easier :-). They also do a fantastic job with grooming. I just realized that I never got a review in for Rockstar Pets. Tsk, tsk me. Because quite honestly, I want to spread the good word that this place is FANTASTIC and the staff are absolute all-stars! Our dog Juno has gone a number of times for daycare and boarding. We worry about her because Shiba Inu's are generally headstrong and picky - good graces are earned, not a given. An environment like daycare or boarding with all the new personalities romping around can easily stress her out. We've stopped worrying because we are confidant that the staff keeps a watchful eye and really cares about her well being. There are multiple colorful, outdoor play areas - ample opportunity for fun. I love that they send picture texts so that I can get an idea of how her day is going. That's always a nice treat. However, my number one priority is always her safety, #2 her happiness, and I feel rest assured that Rockstar has her covered on both fronts. read more

It's been a while since we visited, but was looking for a new daycare place, so I decided to write a review... We actually enjoyed the first couple times we took our dog Bixby to Rockstar. He seemed to love the place, and the first couple visits everyone was super nice. The owner was super communicative with us while we got our dog onboarded. But then the staff's attitudes started to change towards our dog and us as customers. Our dog is high-energy, and the staff seemed to take him as more of a burden and seemed annoyed anytime we showed up. The report cards turned into very aggressive sales pitches for puppy classes. We received multiple long-winded emails about how our dog was untrained and pretty much not welcomed back. We told the trainers that we couldn't afford the puppy training classes through Rockstar, even though we wanted to, but since we had those conversations, our dog/puppy was not welcomed. Obviously I can only speak our isolated case, but I really wish Bixby was treated differently as he's a sweet dog, and this place resolves alot of separation anxiety issues in the house, as well as getting his energy out. I find it odd, that I have seen multiple worse behaved dogs that almost attacked our dog in the waiting room, but those dogs are welcomed with open arms, whereas a small high-energy puppy is not. Maybe it's just because we were able/willing to fork over more money for the training and other services. I bet if we did the training/forked over more money, he'd still be welcome... read more

We scouted new daycares before moving to the area and found this place had the best space and good prices after doing a walk through. They are super friendly and know our dogs by name. They send us DAILY pictures and even sent update emails when we used them for boarding as well. They separate play groups and have people supervising them at all times. They play outdoors but also have cool down periods and breaks. After switching to them, our one dog has become less anxious and even put on healthier weight. She has changed for the better in this environment. She plays and socializes with her new friends tons. We couldn't be happier with them! read more

Rockstar is one of the places we can recommend without any hesitation whatsoever. The entire team is kind, responsive, and cares about our Barney as though he were a member of their family. We travel quite a lot for work and personal reasons, and we completely trust Barney to their care when we're away. He leaps at the prospect of "going to school" just at the mention at home. The regular photo updates are a nice touch, and the extra special things - like making sure he had a birthday party when he had to be there on that day - really show the extra mile Elissa, Alex and the whole team go to. Rockstar is not necessarily convenient to our home - but when they moved, we changed our routine to stay with them. While this is the only day and boarding facility we've used, after comparing notes with friends who use others, we know Rockstar is one of the best for sure. read more

Once you go Rockstar you never go back. I've tried other doggie daycare places and boarding, but nothing compares to this place. The personalized attention is amazing. They send photos every day they have your dog in their care, they require fecal tests and the flu vaccines so you have peace of mind that they do everything possible to keep everyone safe and healthy, the facility is clean and well kept, and the staff and owner are just lovely people. The dogs have a great time, but there is a good, calm energy, too. Some places we've tried before create a frantic, overly excited environment for the dogs and our guy came back misbehaving. He comes back from Rockstar exhausted, but calm and as well behaved as when we dropped him off. I love this place so much I'm willing to drive 20 to 30 minutes each way to drop him off and pick him up. I rarely write reviews but it's time I call out RSP for their fierce commitment to the dogs (and cats) in their care. I have an Akita and frequently find that daycare/boarding come with preconceived notions of the breed and often refuse them. RSP, after evaluation, was happy to take my boy as a single (he does not play with other dogs). In other facilities I noted he was often the last dog out and often ignored because he did not fit the mold of daycare. Not at RS! He loves his daycare days and they take turns playing with him so he gets the stimulation and play time that he so wants. RSP truly cares for the well being of each dog as an individual and take great care in how they handle them. If a dog is struggling or not a good fit they are honest about it and make recommendations that are best for the dog - not their bottom line. My Akita is wildly people friendly and they quickly capitalized on that trait to work with his dog reactivity in a positive manner. He still doesn't like other dogs and never will (it is who he is) but he has made huge strides in lessening reactivity. Thank you RSP! You are the rare, real deal and the dogs in your care are fortunate to have found their way to you. read more

The staff do a great job of taking care of our two dogs. I really appreciate the attention and care they put into the dogs overall. It's hard to leave them alone for an extend period, but my wife and I are always reassured that they will be well-taken care of during their stay. Our one dog sometimes has stomach issues, and we are concerned about him all the time. We know that if something happens, they do a great job of making sure they watch him and get him back on track, if it does happen. When we come home, they are always tuckered out playing with the other dogs. I can't stress enough that Rockstar Pets is the absolute best daycare facility I have ever been to! My dog Eva and I moved from NYC to Chicago two years ago and the most stressful part of the move was finding a daycare facility that would accommodate her energy (that is putting it nicely). Eva was a pretty rambunctious puppy and walks two times per day was not enough to tire her out, so I began sending her to daycare everyday to help burn off some of that excess energy. I am extremely particular about the care of my dog, and from the moment I did my initial tour with Elissa, I knew that I had found a true gem of a place for Eva. She spent 45 minutes learning about Eva, her habits and her need for a lot of activity. Being a frequent international traveller, I also was looking for a facility that could provide boarding services. As Eva is a rescue dog, it was clear that she spent the better portion of her first year of life locked in a crate and I wanted to find a facility that would not crate her. I could not believe that Elissa offered to either take her home with her when I travelled. As a two year client of Rockstar, this review is long overdue. Elissa and Alex have become like family and the staff is truly amazing. This is a place that has a true passion and love for animals and every single staff member greets us like friends. I especially appreciate the grounds of the facilities, where dogs can be broken into different sections of the yard based on their play style. Every day there seems to be a new piece of equipment for the dogs to play on and I truly appreciate the multiple photos I receive daily of Eva at play. I cannot recommend this place enough! I feel so fortunate to have found a place that can provide my dog with the care she deserves and this is the place I recommend to all of my friends! read more

My experience here was mixed. I'll first say that the people there were very friendly and great with my dog. My Dog's experience there was excellent, she loved it. HOWEVER... I was a little disappointed with my situation. I learned about Rockstar Pets through a YouSwoop for 5 sessions. I had never done the doggie daycare thing before but thought it would be good for my dog. Two weeks before the "expiration date" I brought in her info to pre-register and check the place out. I brought in all the paperwork I thought I needed (spay, vaccinations,etc) but was informed that I needed a fecal exam confirmation. This delayed everything by 4 days. I only got to bring her in 3 days before the "expiration date". I brought her in for a 4th session, the day after it expired, and was told they would "let today slide" but expected to see her back for paid sessions in the future. I also lost the last session. Now, I have run coupons for my own business as a personal trainer, and as long as clients respond within a reasonable amount of time beyond "expiration", I honor them. Why wouldn't I?? It's an opportunity to increase business. In this case, I was on the fence about whether to keep her going, ONLY due to location. My dog loved it there, and I most likely would have made the trip for her to keep going. That all changed when they decided not to honor the entire coupon. I will be looking for another daycare closer to home. read more

I'm writing another review for daycare now as my last review was for boarding our dog. My dog is nuts...just ask them. He plays and plays non-stop and is always the last dog standing. This place is just fantastic because when I get this guy in the car he crashes...he loves it. I love it. I'm seriously starting to think he likes it more there than when he's at home, because he just seems so bored. Kind of like a teenager who feels cooped up at home with his totally uncool parents when he really just wants to hang out with his friends. He has a few nicknames from Daniel, the manager, and Senor Fluffy Butt has seem to stick in our household. He's hilarious, by the way...a perfect addition to the staff I must add. You can't go wrong bringing your dog here. The price point is great. The owners are fantastic! The staff is super friendly and personable! These guys are fantastic, and you should bring your dog here. We've been sending our now six-year-old boxer there for regular daycare and occasional boarding since he was a puppy. We've never had a single bad experience. We've never had a single complaint about the staff, or communication, or anything. We have had literally nothing but good experiences with RSP -- for six years. They just... really care about dogs. The owners obviously do, and they hire staff who also obviously do. Whenever their was any kind of issue -- getting scraped up while playing too hard (which he does), acting sick, whatever -- they'd let us know about it immediately. He can be a bad eater when stressed, so while boarding they'd always pay special attention and offer treats mixed in to make sure he ate enough. They always did all the little extra things that let you know that yeah, these people really do care about my dog. After six years, we'll be switching to a different place for daycare, because our lives have simply gotten too busy to drive our dog here instead of walking him somewhere closer. And we're legitimately sad about it, which is something I never expected to feel about a pet care place. They're the best, and you should let them take care of your dogs. read more

I saw a window ad for Rockstar Pets at a diner in my neighborhood. After some not-so-great experiences with other cat care providers in the past, I decided to give Rockstar a shot. Rockstar Pets cared for my two cats while I was away over Thanksgiving and I couldn't have asked for better care. Here's why: 1. Rockstar Pets accomodated my busy schedule to come by for a "meet and greet" with my cats. 2. Rockstar Pets fed my cats the correct amount and kept the litter box INCREDIBLY clean (including the area around it, which turns into a litter minefield when I'm away for more than 1 day). I've used other cat sitters before, and their care was no where near Rockstar's. 3. Rockstar very professionally and honestly explained extenuating (and completely understandable) services as to why my cats did not receive the promised 30minutes of play time/visit. I was impressed with their honesty and knew I was not being lied to, which is an unfortunate experience I've had in the past. 4. Rockstar Pets is affordable and, may I say it again, reliable.reliable.reliable. Plus, they'll text you photos & updates of your pet. Something that a homesick pet parent appreciates a great deal. So I'm a first time dog-owner and was terrified of having to leave my dog while I was out of town. I'm on a budget and looking for a kennel with a good price and friendly people, which sounds easy- but was quickly proven it's not. That was until I accidentally stumbled onto Rockstar Pets' website. I called to find out the rates and spoke to both Elissa and Alex. From the moment we talked, I knew my little guy would be in great heads. What impressed me the most was Elissa seemed to know exactly when I was thinking about my pup because she would text or email me pictures and videos of him throughout his stay. That was so comforting! Another aspect about this boarding company is that they are familiar with the teachings of Cesar Millan and would use those techniques if any of the dogs, including my own, got out of line. If you've never watched the Dog Whisperer- check it out and then know Alex and Elissa execute his techniques flawlessly - and it works! I enlist the help of Elissa on my (often last minute) trips and she has become a highly dependable caretaker and friend to my two kitties. One of the many things that puts Rockstar above the other pet sitters is the constant communication; I'm a bit obsessive about my furry babies but the daily texts and pictures put me at ease so I can actually enjoy myself while out of town. I cannot say enough great things about Rockstar Pets! I'm happy to report that I was referred to them by a co-worker and I love them! My dog Caramella also loves going there. The second we pull up she jumps out! Alex and Elissa took care of her for 4 nights while on a recent trip as well as the ordinary few times a week that she spends at day care. They are great at keeping me updated while she is in their care and it's clear that they have a great amount of care for what they do! The dogs always seem happy when I drop off and pick up. Not only are they great with Caramella but they are super flexible when it comes to drop off and pick up and I am so thankful they are in my neighborhood. Rockstar Pets is the JAM! We do doggy daycare here at least once a week and have boarded her for a weekend out of town as well. They do a wonderful job and the best part is they send you a picture of your dog playing! It is my favorite thing getting the mid day pix of our pup having fun with her friends! The dogs are broken up into play groups, so if you have a high energy dog like mine you can be rest assured they will be wrestling around with other dogs alike. They are also super observant to your dog's health/behavior. One day after daycare the staff mentioned they noticed our dog shaking her head more than usually, and they checked her ears and saw one was red. We brought her into the vet the next day, and sure enough she had an ear infection! I am so thankful for the staff of taking such good care of our pup! Your dog is in good hands here! read more

Our new puppy Bolo (short for Bolo Yeung, Jr), starts pulling on his leash something fierce the moment he gets within 50 yards of Rockstar. I'm guessing it's because he gets treated with much love and care from the staff of Elissa, Alex, and Marissa, not to mention the fact he can go on a rampage from 8 am to 7 pm. Dripping with sweat from a hard day's work, the workers never fail to mention how energetic our young boy was that day. I do feel for them, but in the end, he has to have a proper training regimen for the Kumite and represent his family well. seriously though, we use Rockstar for both daycare and boarding, and the the prices for each are extremely reasonable. As mentioned in other reviews, the staff sends you a few, often hilarious pictures a day to break up the monotony of explaining to skeptical customers the nuanced differences between a "sandwich artist" and a "sandwich chef". (by the way, GFY and take your business to jersey mike's you ungrateful sack of saggy corpuscles!) The space is just the right size for my crazy one to run around and still be paid attention to. There is a large outdoor area complete with kiddie pools and a nicely air-conditioned inside area for days when the blasted sun god is doing his job all too well. After having seen a few other daycare places in the area, it's far and away the best in every conceivable way. The tell tale sign that you've found a quality place is the absence of that foul stench of old urine and composting feces that smacks you in the face with the force of a prime George Foreman uppercut as soon you open the door. However, in spite of the completely wonderful experience we have had with Rockstar so far, I would urge you to please take your loved one down the street to another quality business I've heard people rave about, "Scrawny Dog: The Mill Puppies Actually Love!" , as any extra business might lower the quality of care my dog is currently receiving. Elissa and Alex do an amazing job at Rockstar Pets. Getting signed up for boarding was easy, even for someone who is super disorganized with paperwork and shot records (that would be me). They are incredibly flexible when it comes to timing and can even pick up and drop off your pup for a small fee. The prices are very reasonable and Elissa was very communicative during my dog's stay, updating me with pictures and emails. When she noticed a slight limp my dog has always had, she emailed me immediately to find out if it was a new or an existing condition. My pup always comes back from doggie daycare or boarding exhausted and happy. The only downside is that every time we walk past, he pulls on his leash, wanting to go back to Rockstar and play some more. read more

Alex and Elissa are fantastic! It has taken me way too long to sit down and write this review. We brought our pup Bayou in when they first opened. Our Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Cur/Redbone Coonhound LOVES going to Rockstar. Loves it. Alex and Elissa are very kind and accommodating when we call last minute (like I'm about to do now). The fact that they pick up/drop off is super helpful to us, and we love receiving the updates while we're away. It's always nice to hear someone say they have a picture of Bayou playing with their pup from Alex or Elissa- he has made many friends! I recommend them to everyone I meet (sometimes unsolicited)! They are right on top of it. The facility is clean- the pups are safe- and they truly care about each dog. It's a nice feeling. *We've also started buying our food from them.
