    Jalapeño Bagel - Sunrise
    Jeffrey G.

We were staying in Boston and had a couple of mornings we needed a place for breakfast. We found two establishments we chose mainly due to proximity. Of course, we go to Yelp for all of our out-of-town dining needs! This particular morning we chose Pavement coffeehouse. They are really straightforward in the ordering process. They take your name then your order. So we go back to a seat sort of in the back of the coffeehouse waiting for our name to be called. (Nothing else available by the ordering counter) There's music playing, maybe a little louder than normal. But EVERYONE had earbuds on because they are in their element of school, work or simply enjoying what they want to listen to. 15 minutes or more pass by and I've seen a half dozen or so grab their order, maybe hearing a name being called faintly during that time. I think it would be easy to hear the name "Jeff". Certainly my wife seated next to me would also be keen to hear my name being called. So I finally walk up and see my order setting on the front of the store counter like it is a pick up order for a delivery like Grubhub or Uber Eats. I asked if someone called my name. Of course they tell me yes. I'll tell you, if they did, we did not hear it. We picked it up and ate outside, because it was very cool in the coffeehouse. It was very pleasant with a nice breeze outdoors in their seating area. So with all this wait, we literally took a bite before I realized no pics. Sorry for those shots of food with 1 bite removed. Overall, it was ok. It fit the need for food fuel at the time. It was warm, but tolerable after setting for several minutes. The jalapeño bagel was a 0 on a scale of 0-10 in the category of spicy. So if you're expecting just a little kick, you're not going to get it. Both bagels have an egg, bacon Vermont cheddar cheese. I think it both bagels were $11 each. Also...Just calling it coffeehouse means you can charge what you want for coffee. Lg $5+ sm ~$4 My two cents worth!

I came with my friend who was going to a yoga class so we found this coffeehouse as I needed my coffee for the day while waiting for her. Cute place, it is comfortable and very cozy if you want to sit and relax or just read your favorite book. But it is very crowded as other people have the same idea. I was walking in the back and you find comfy big chairs, couches, tables with regular chairs. They do have outlets for your electronics. Lots of people and local college students come to hang out or study as it's right near the Berklee School of Music. You just have to wait to find a place to sit. They have iced, to hot coffee. Muffins, and other deserts on the menu. They do have lots of house-made bagels and cream cheese which looked yummy. I saw some lunch sandwiches as well. The lady behind counter was very friendly. I try to get skim milk with my coffee. She assured me they have low-fat milk. The coffee was to my liking. I find new coffee places, and the coffee is either too strong or just not tasty. But it's my favorite so far! It's clean, and they do have a restroom. I would recommend stopping by and trying it out it if you are in the area. I would come again if in the city

Cute coffee shop. Great location with plenty of shops around. My iced coffee was really good and I love the breakfast options!

This is a nice coffee chain where you can have a nice study session or sit and chat with friends. Because its location is situated in a busy area, the store does get a lot of traffic, so if you prefer a quieter study area, this might not be the place for you. The items are quite affordable - way better priced than other coffee chains. However, my friend who is a coffee connoisseur did not like their coffee that much. I did order the matcha latte which I thought tasted good. Their chocolate croissant was also good, but I thought it just had a lot of powdered sugar topping. The place is really clean with decent customer service. Nothing too spectacular can be said about this location, but if you need a quick coffee stop, this place can be your fix.

I visited this place 3 times! Always on Saturday morning, around 9-10am and always ran to a huge line! Which shows how great the place is(although the wait is annoying) I always make my own bagel. Rosemary salt bagel with chive or lemon dill cream cheese with avocado and sun dries pesto and egg patty It is very filling and very delicious They iced lattes are all good! Tried the iced lavender latte the last time and it was great One sad thing is we always go as two people and it is always minimum 40$

I was very pleasantly surprised about this Pavement Coffeehouse location, especially compared to some of their other locations around Boston. Immediately after stepping inside I realized just how big this place is - it has several tables and funky chairs for customers to sit in, as well as a designated area for to-go orders, which is something you don't see too often in this area. I was also very pleased with my lox sandwich on a sesame bagel, which tasted very fresh and left me full. I would definitely consider stopping back again for a quick bite to eat, and would probably take advantage of ordering in advance for even quicker service.

It is a good sandwich. It's a pretty great sandwich, actually. I like the Boss, but there are many great options. There are just two things to keep in mind: 1) it's relatively expensive (though doable) 2) the sandwiches are quite rich and salty, often relying on a flavorful cream element (truffle cream, pistachio cream, etc.) As a result, I probably wouldn't go every day or even every week. But I'm actually writing about the company's website and phone recording. Once, on a prior holiday, and today due to a winter storm, I wasn't sure if the restaurant was open. In both cases (where the restaurant turned out to be closed), the website (appropriately) didn't allow online orders, and (more importantly) THE OUTGOING PHONE RECORDING WAS UPDATED WITH CURRENT INFORMATION. In an era where businesses barely have phone numbers to call, or employees who answer with something other than 'hello', is rare (and by the way, this is the fault of management if they don't properly train their staff). It was the gold standard for a real sandwich in the city. Sadly, the magic has faded. Between the soaring prices and the shrinking portions, the value just isn't there anymore. You can taste the "corner-cutting"--the flavors aren't as bold as they used to be, and the sandwiches feel noticeably smaller even though the cost has increased exponentially - I mean $30 for a sammy?! It should have gold in it! Even then, I'd keep coming once in awhile if the service was worth it. but honestly - the staff seems burnt out even bright early in the morning. It's hard to justify the premium price for a shadow of what this place used to be.

We almost felt that we were inconveniencing the workers and the wait time is absurd for in person orders. But I have to give credit when it's due, this was by far one of my favorite sandwiches although they are pricey, you can easily feed a party of four with a nice bag of chips on the side. We were blessed with being able to try the table sandwich. The focaccia was fresh along with the mozzarella and arugula. Since we made an online order which quoted us 45 minutes, our sandwich was ready in 20 so unfortunately, the chicken cutlet was not as fresh as we would've liked. Sidenote, the first day we attempted to order in person they quoted us an hour, so we decided to place an order of the following day. Highly recommend placing the order and staying local to be safe. That being said, I ordered ahead online and my sandwich was ready when I got there. (This was a Thursday afternoon). I got the vodka chicken Parm after seeing it online and it definitely lives up to the hype. And yes, it is ~$30. The sandwich is huge. It has huge cutlets in it which are very filling, and perfectly made. It ended up being enough for two people, so find a person to share it with! The vodka sauce in the sandwich was sooooo good, definitely one of the best I've found in boston. They also provide you with a whole container of sauce to dip your sandwich into (highly recommend doing that). What lost the star is that I felt there wasn't enough basil. For that huge sandwich, there was actually very few bites with basil. I wish there was more of it, and I also wish there was some other green in there like arugula.
