Proof of how close I am to an Ace Hardware with lackluster customer service.

Manager Zach and Maui Jim's!! I am a 52 year old man that was the senior buyer for a multi location sporting goods store before retiring due to cancer treatment, so I know a bit about how critical customer service is. When looking on Maui Jim's website at another pair of glasses, I searched for local dealers as I'm new to the Gilbert area. I saw that this Paul's Ace Hardware was one!! So, I went to them to check out their models late one Saturday and also to pick up some BBQ supplies. The specific model I wanted to try on was out of stock, so I left a note with my name, number and model that I wanted to see for when it got restocked. That Monday, I got a call from Zach that he had gotten the local Maui Jim sales rep to drop off their sample of that model for me to try on. That was just above and beyond for both Zach and his sales rep to do for me!! After trying it on and loving it, I asked him to order an extra pair for when he orders next and I offered to put down a deposit on it to lock it up. Just a week (?) later, he called to say that he had special ordered them in for me and they were ready for pick up!! Wow, that was fast!! Thank you Zach and also to your Maui Jim representative, for such superior customer service and follow up!! Despite having an Ace Hardware just .7 miles away (that I've had some VERY disappointing service from - two sales associates that answered the phone couldn't even tell me if they had dimensional lumber, AKA 2 x 4's. (2) calls totaling 13.9 minutes on hold!!), I will and have been ONLY shopping here. From the young man that helped me that very first time (sorry, I can't remember your name!) and every time since, all of his team goes above and beyond for their customers.

I love this Ace hardware. They have a large ball jar collection for sale. They can add screens to frames for window and doors.

I love Ace Hardware I always have they have things that your big Corporate stores like Home Depot and Lowes don't carry. This location in Gilbert is great. They have everything from tools to home decor and the customer service is fantastic. Good customer service is what brings a store repeat customers.

Stickers available at Ace. Do you think they'll work for "No Soliciting"?

A new house means I have discovered Ace Hardware!! I don't think I'd ever been inside an Ace Hardware before, but a friend gave me a great coupon when I needed interior paint. Who knew I'd ever be interested in or need buy 2 gallons, get 1 free! Why yes, I took care of that. Ace has Valspar and Clark & Kensington paints (both owned by Ace, I think), and paintbrushes and other painting accoutrements. I've also bought a shower drain and shelf liner here. Other items they have include tools, household and auto cleaners, seasonal decorations, yard tools, stuff for your lawn and garden, lighting, and much more. The folks at this location have been really helpful every time I've been in. I can personally vouch by their ability to do paint color-matching!

In life you have many choices... Buy Local or Buy BigBox. If you need a Local Hardware, in Gilbert, Choose this place for sure! The hubster usually has to drag me in to Ace Hardwares but NOT this one, I go voluntarily! *Don't tell him, but I will sometimes find a reason WHY he needs to go here if we are in the area! I did just hat the other day and he found EVERYTHING he had been searching for, EVEN Ball Bearings! *I think thats what they are called... ehh who knows! There is something for everyone in the family at this store... Kids Section: Check, Pet Section: Check, Paint Section: Check, Tons of little things for the Husband: Check, Patio Section: Check! My recommendation is to stop in here before heading to that BigBox Store, Ask one of the VERY Helpful Employees for ... and they will gladly help you out! Buy Local... It will make your heart smile!

The store has everything you need - but unlike Home Depot, things are organized intuitively. The options are pared down to things you may actually need if you're looking for the basics - no more wandering aisles like a lost puppy! The prices for the items we purchased were comparable to Home Depot - no markups! And again, the environment is much less intimidating. Extra points because they have a cute lazy shop cat who prefers to be respected LOL

Her name eludes my memory right now but it's been a few weeks since I've been in and she recognized me. She's a fellow horse girl so we chatted about them last time. I appreciate that she remembered me and asked about the animals. Some elite customer service. I stopped in for 6 inch wood screws and was unsuccessful but the effort was lost. There were two younger adults helping and although we didn't find what I was looking for, they did attempt. Somehow buying two bags of small pegs, a small plastic Halloween basket, target nails, and churned honey - I spent $100 so that's wildly expensive. That's my 4 star. As long as businesses don't support this regime, I'll continue to shop there. It would be so easy to go to Home Depot but it's the principle since I'm anti-maga 100%. Anyway, just a shout out. Oh, and the gal up front working the register with curly colorful hair is dope too. She was cute and smart as we chatted about chocolate and the lack there of because of the cocoa shortage. I

They have a wide variety of products, you know: the thingamabobs, doo-hickeys, and so many other items that we can never remember the names of (to save our lives!) Our latest find was scored with the determined help of a young man (pictured here) that stuck with us until we found what we needed to get the job done, despite our terrible attempt to describe it! Thanks to him and all the other helpful folks at Ace, We walked out with the right items to get ourselves out of a pickle for under a buck. Great price, indeed! We are happy that we have an Ace Hardware right up the street that we can trust. They always guide us in the right direction when we get the itch to start working on projects that we have no business starting without the proper tools or training to do! SMH ‍ Thanks Ace! The old, unkempt, crabby woman at the register(think cat lady combined with prison guard personality)ordered me to also remove my backpack in a tone befitting a county jail intake matron. I complied without a word since I just wanted to get on with my shopping. I walked around the store and was asked if I needed help about 10 times and followed everywhere. I had a feeling it was more about treating me like a shoplifter just because I wore a backpack(that I already removed when I walked in). The other annoying thing is when I had a question the staff isn't smart enough to be more specific than answering tools section(Correct answer is aisle number and shelf level). I bought a tarp, shoelace, $10 wool socks, pepper spray and made sure to get my receipt or be falsely detained by the woman auditioning for crazy cat lady/prison guard. I spent over $43 and the cashier woman prison guard wasn't even nice enough to apologize and thank me for my business. Instead, she again admonished me not to look at the 3 different pepper sprays the one competent staff Russ put on the counter for me to look at. It didn't occur to her they were on the counter for me to look at. After her 2nd incredibly rude outburst(not to be confused with customer service)I told her firmly to learn some manners which I do rarely but will call out jerks when they deserve it. Since the one employee Russ was professional and competent and they had the items I wanted I bumped this store up to 3 stars. I doubt I'll shop there again. This is why online shopping is so popular.

I even brought one of the original slats from home as a reference to make the measurements simple and quick. After sorting through multiple moldy and poor-quality boards to find usable pieces, I loaded everything onto my cart and went looking for assistance because there were no employees around in the lumber yard. As I walked toward the front, I noticed two young associates standing around smoking, joking, and on their phones. I asked one associate, Nick, if he could help cut the wood. Before I could even explain the cuts or the project, he immediately responded with, "I can only cut 5 pieces," followed by an awkward explanation about how I could just buy a saw from the store because "it's easy." There was zero effort to understand what I needed, no customer service, and no willingness to help. He seemed far more interested in getting back to his phone than assisting a paying customer. I explained that I had the sample slat with me to make the measurements easy, but he continued repeating the "5 pieces only" statement. When I asked if that was actually store policy, he simply said "yeah." At that point, I thanked him for his "help" and left without causing a scene in front of my pregnant wife and 1-year-old daughter. As a disabled veteran, I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect basic customer service and professionalism. I called Home Depot on Power Rd and Germann Rd and asked if they had a cutting limit. The associate immediately said no, asked about my project, what kind of wood I needed, and told me to come in because they would take care of me. That's exactly what they did. The Home Depot associates went above and beyond. They helped me choose better wood options, explained cost differences, recommended a more efficient solution instead of individual slats, cut every piece I needed, and even helped me pick the correct screws for the project. I left there feeling valued as a customer. Unfortunately, Lowe's lost my business that night. Lowe's used to be my go-to store for plants, cleaning supplies, and lumber, but after this experience, I now know which company actually values customer service. If "I don't know, I just work here" was a person, Nick would be the face of it. Do better, Lowe's.

Since Home Depot uses Tuff Shed for their custom shed vendor and we went through Home Depot's…read morewebsite: also, their partnership don't honor military discount for custom sheds (side note)... Here it goes: Their sheds are supposed to come with vents--it's stated on the website, and when you begin designing your shed, the vents appear on the visual model throughout the entire configuration process. We paid over $6,100 for our shed, and it was built today with NO VENTS. The crew that installed it even said, "That's weird, it should have them," and told us to contact Tuff Shed about it. My husband called and spoke with Zack, who claimed we would have to pay over $300 for them to come install vents because "we didn't pay for them." I'm furious because vents are standard. They automatically show up on the model, and since we added a window, I clearly remember choosing a smaller window size to make sure it didn't interfere with the vent placement on the side of the shed. The vents were always displayed, and there was never an option to remove or upgrade them like other features. I called and asked for a manager because this situation and what was relayed to my husband is insane--especially in Arizona, where temperatures exceed 120° in summer. Apparently, Zack is the manager. He repeatedly put me on mute while I was talking and clearly had no interest in customer satisfaction or doing the right thing. This company deceives customers by showing features online, then delivering something different. Even Zack agreed that sheds are supposed to come with vents. So why would I comb through the invoice looking for them? Standard features don't appear on invoices--only specification upgrades did. His excuse was that we were "credited" for removing the vents. No, we weren't. There is no credit line for vents anywhere on our invoice. If there had been, I would have questioned it immediately and not pay or sign anything. The invoice does show a "Credit for Removal of Default Door" (because we upgraded it), but nothing at all about vents. This is dishonest, and the company is taking advantage of customers. Who spends this kind of money and pays for upgrades just to knowingly remove a standard free feature like vents--especially when the design platform doesn't even offer an option to remove them? This feels like a complete scam: removing free standard features and then demanding customers pay a ridiculous amount to add them back. I've filed a complaint with the BBB and disputing the transaction on my card. We are Arizona natives--we know the dangers of a shed with no ventilation. This is our second shed, and our first one absolutely came with vents in our old house. Lack of ventilation is a serious health and safety risk. My grandparents live in the casita and will be using this shed. I also have a three-year-old who could wander inside and not be able to get out, and we might not hear him or anyone inside yell for help. The consequences of not having vents are serious, and that's exactly why they're standard. I'm furious with how this company handled the situation and with the lies we were told over the phone. They refuse to fix a problem they caused. We never elected to remove vents--this was their mistake. At this point, we want the shed removed from our property and a full refund. This is shady business, and we will take our money elsewhere and buy a custom shed from a honest company. Zack repeatedly stated that all sheds come with vents and that ours "were removed," and that we "should have noticed," and that we were "credited" for it--again, we absolutely were not credited and we never removed them!!! This entire situation is unacceptable!
