It's been almost 2 yrs since my last review and thought it might be good to update. I've continued to receive great customer service here by everyone that I come in contact with. The 2 notable ones are Tracy and Dennis. Let me start with Dennis first. They remodeled their store and now the fasteners/nuts/bolts area has been expanded and I love this. Most of the time I come it's because I need some fitting that broke or something with something I have and I don't need 100 of them, just 1 or a few. All the Ace Hardwares are perfect for this and I've never NOT found what I needed. Dennis has helped me most of the time when I come, which isn't too frequent, but maybe a few times a year. He is always very patient. Sometimes it's with a project and he offers suggestions. Thank you, Dennis. Tracy is a newer person for me from the past year. I don't remember why I came in, but he was the person to help me. He's retired from his career and just wanted to still work, but not in a high pressured career. We've had some really great conversations. He is very personable and super, super helpful. I needed to fix my dripping shower faucet and asked him for suggestions. He gave me lots of sound advice, which all of them really helped me. Unfortunately this Ace did not have the parts I needed for my particular showers, but the advice he gave was invaluable and saved me hundreds of dollars. I was able to change out the shower spout, handle, shower heads with new stuff and all by myself. This turned out to be fairly easy, so I thought why not to tackle my master bath, that had similar shower fixtures. The master bath was a little trickier, and took a bit longer, but I was able to change all the shower fixtures minus the drains all by myself without incident and everything is working great. I did this back over 3 months ago and everything still works fantastically. Tracy did advise that replacing the drains was a bit more difficult. He didn't say don't do this, but the thought of having to perhaps replace plumbing and the showers did not appeal to me. So, the drains remained. I also wanted to change out the sink faucet in the first bathroom. He talked about the hard water deposits we have and how to replace the faucet. He showed me a tool, a sink wrench, to help me loosen and get into tight spaces. My husband really was the one that went under the sink to do all this. I am grateful. This was a bit more difficult than we had hoped because whomever installed the prior faucet really glued EVERYTHING down well, which required my husband to use a DeWalt cutting tool to get the parts out. Since the first bathroom turned out well, we also did the Master Baths both faucets - replacing them. Thank you, Tracy, for your guidance and direction in this, for caring enough to be specific to empower me/us to do these repairs to our home and saving hundreds in labor and not needing to call out a plumber to do all this. Both Dennis & Tracy are true assets to this Ace Hardware location. Thank you for caring about your customers and going above and beyond every time. I have been going to this ACE hardware store on Cooper and Warner from the time that they opened up in Gilbert. I can't begin to say how much money I spent at this store in all these years. Christmas lights/items, tools, smoking petted, smoker assembly, and just everything I needed to make repairs around my house. I went today to get some water hose and screws for my Portacool cooler and spent $74.55. I had there employee measured the amount and asked for 4'6" long and he said that they only sale it by the foot only. I told him go ahead and give me 5 feet, because 4 feet would be too short. Well I got home and was ready to install the hose and it was only 4'4" long that was too short. When I called the ACE to let them know what THEY wrong by cutting the hose too short. The lady that answered the phone said that they do not return a hose that been cut and could not care less if it was there employee that cut the hose. I think the owner or store manager should trained their employees about customers service and do the right thing when it was there issues. I was like she couldn't care less about my issue that was due to there employees. This is not the first time I had a problem at this store but never said anything about it. It doesn't not bother me about the cost of the hose but not even to offer to replace the hose because it was (THERE) mistake!! They tell me that they don't return cut hoses. They have a lost a long time customer that uses to tell my neighbors to go there instead of the larger stores around the area where I live. I will drive a little farther to another ACE store that I hope knows what customers service is. read more

This location is a little older and kinda dingy and can be a little cluttered. But as far as convenience, it is a good neighborhood hardware shop. You can find just about any type of supplies for your average household needs. The staff is friendly and eager to assist you. I am so glad this location is here because I have on numerous occassions needed certain size screws for my project and the store carries all sizes of screws. Employees will help you find the matching size. My only critique is that I have come several times in the past and they are out of the sale item that is advertised in the circular. I don't think this store carries a lot of inventory, so first come first serve! read more

I love this store! It's great to support local businesses. I like coming here because I know I can get help that actually knows what they're doing. Sometimes when I go to competitor stores, they never seem to know where things are or how to help. I can always get good advice and direction here. If you need help with any bird issues, ie pigeons, hummingbirds etc, there's a young man there that really knows his birds!! He's helped me several times with issues. I don't know his name but I'm sure if you ask at the front, they'll know who it is. He lead me to a pigeon solution that worked! Haven't seen a pigeon since. The store is always clean and organized. They may not have as large of selection as other stores, but if it's usual things you're looking for, they'll have it. They also have coupons when you sign up on phone and email list. I just got a $5 gift card for my birthday. Yay! Support your local business and give them a try. They're friendly and helpful. Ace is the place....... read more

Usually i I let my husband take care of house repairs but when I HAVE to go buy hardware I go there. Their service is 100%better than that of the bigger stores. Great prices. Even my 80+ years old parents only go there as they always find employees who go out of their way to help them. read more

Most of my visits here have been great, However I will be avoiding Lauren at all costs if I ever come back to this ace as she is a nightmare to deal with. I asked her a simple question about my landscaping needs like where would I find the irrigation fittings and also getting a key cut, she rolled her eyes and muttered something under her breathe, I think it was something like 'This asshole" or something along those lines. She then pointed me to the direction of the item and then went about her own business. This to me is not how you treat customers and this is not the first time this has happened and the fact that this has happened twice now with the same employee shows me that customer service is not a priority. All the other employees were very friendly and helpful though. If it weren't for receiving help from another employee this experience would be 0, However I did get help from another employee which is why I come here in the first place. Thanks ACE! read more

WOW!!!! The customer service here was top notch. I have an Ace closer to my house but was specifically looking for a Blackstone grill and Ruggieros had a great selection. Everyone was very helpful and even gave some extra tips on my project that came in handy a few days later when I was putting together. Thank you for the hard to find great customer service. This is not a solicited message; went to big box home improvement store this AM to help resolve a leaky spray attachment on my outdoor water hose....I had to hunt down 5 employees and none could resolve the problem......BUT there was a young man named Jacob, newly employed, who really took the time to try to resolve..thank you, Jacob......unlike the others who just kept sending me all over the store. Unfortunately, Jacob was not successful. Therefore, I went to Ace Hdwe in Chandler.......was in and out in 5 mins with issue resolved...no more big box store for me.......I highly recommend Ace Hardware for all DIY projects. read more

I really like going to this store, they are very helpful, they make and repair screens, beautifully and quickly, and I like the cat. However, the last few times I have been there, it has been extremely hot inside, probably in the mid 80s, which makes me less likely to spend very much time there. I can't imagine that working there in that temperature is very easy. read more

EVERYTIME I go here it is a problem. The staff are rude and seem to take great pleasure in telling you they dont have an item and especially condescending when they tell you some nonsense reason why an ace coupon wont work. I should just drive the extra 5 minutes and go to Lowes. read more

I feel a bit generous with the three stars, and that rating is really all about the convenience of a smaller store (vs. the completely impersonal big-box experience where it's so hard to find anything or anyone to help). But I've noticed a decline in the quality of help with younger, less knowledgeable staff. On my recent visit I had a question about paint for a very specific application. The guy that "helped" me was very young, and clearly knew *very* little about paint, to the point that it was almost insulting as he recited to me that "Exterior" paint meant it was for outside, and "Interior" meant it was for inside. Gee, thanks dude. Obviously I'm fine if he doesn't know the answer to my question, but go find someone who does instead of either insulting me or giving me bad advice. It's also worth noting that not a single member of the staff wears masks (last time I was in, every customer had one, but no employees). That's clearly a management decision that's worth taking into account when determining where to take your business. read more

Always love the smaller hardware store hands down. Management seems to have brought in new blood to the store. What was wrong with the folks that had been there for the 5 years I have been coming? Fortunately for me I know the store layout better than the "newbies" that work there. Friendly Staff, Great Hardware Selection! The Ace Hardware Advantage to me is always when you need certain hardware for a project and don't want to be stuck scouring the bins for the ever illusive specialty bolt or screw. Here you get a guy who is friendly that will find it for you! Thank Goodness! Hardware prices might be a bit higher, but you are getting service that makes it worthwhile for small quantities. If you need 100 or more of something than it would add up a bit, but I think they have some bulk discounts too. They have lots of other things here too, from smokers and grills to all the home repairs items and tools you have grown to expect from ACE locations. read more

Service. I'm not a very hardware-y person; I'm more hardweary. Generally going into a hardware store I'm going to need some assistance. Ever been to a Lowe's or Home Depot and wonder if anyone works there, or worse the people that do try to avoid eye contact? Not here! I walked in the door and a very friendly face offered assistance ( I need a new hose) he walked me right to where they were and assisted me in making a choice. Then i checked out with a very smiley young lady that actually seemed to be happy. Small kindnesses that are getting more rare. This store does not enforce masks for its employees. I recently visited the store to purchase goods and was surprised to see about 75% of the staff not wearing masks. I asked the check-out clerk about their mask policy, and she said that the masks are optional, which is fine. They can run their own business the way they want. The pandemic is still a real thing, and I am disappointed that this store doesn't enforce masks on their staff. I was a 5 start customer, now consider me a 1 star. This optional policy highlights the culture and values of the business, which is to ignore public safety recommendations. I am not returning and encourage others to do the same. This Ace store is the best! I have been coming here for years and have always appreciated the customer service. I never felt inclined to write a review until today. I came in today somewhat stressed out. I brought home a pedicure chair that was wobbling in our store to have my husband fix it. He accidentally broke a piece that made the chair inoperable. I went to ACE with the chair and asked an associate to help me. I believe his name was Gilbert. HE WENT ABOVE AND BEYONE TO HELP ME! He found a piece that would work to fix the chair and fixed it for me! I was so incredibly grateful for his help and have always really appreciated how great the staff is here! Ahh Gilbert Ace hardware... When walking into a business, you are usually greeted by someone, well here you are greeted by the luscious smell of popcorn..!!!! and of course, a super nice Ace employee! I'm very new to using tools, I'm more of a "Don't do it yourself" kind-of-guy. But every time I come in whether its to get some tools/wood/supplies I always find what I want and I end up going home and doing it on my own! I wanted to replace a filter on our mister system... Should have been done years ago... We had to re co figure male and female parts to make the new filter fit. John was amazing! He helped find all of the pieces and put together a system that would work. When I took it home a couple of pieces didn't fit just right, I took it back and once again he took his time to analyze the problem and deliver a perfect solution! Today has been a very frustrating day as for most people I've waited till the last minute to buy Christmas gifts and I want to purchase a yeti cooler for my sister and brother-in-law which I live in Globe Arizona and our local store couldn't help me get it before Christmas they told me to order it on their website and it would be delivered to their store before Christmas so I did and I have had nothing but problems with their website if you try to order stuff and he have a iPhone it doesn't communicate so they told me so they told me to use a HP computer which I did still wouldn't communicate then I talk to them a third time and told me to have to Google chrome so I downloaded that it still won't communicate long story short I found a store in Gilbert store Lauren has been so helpful! If you want good-ol'-fashioned customer service, this is the place to go. Yes, you pay a premium for this (a screw is 7 cents instead of 4). However, you'll get to talk to somebody whose been around and knows how to fix stuff. Everybody is really friendly too. They'll always ask you if you need help or give you a big 'hello' when you walk in. Parking is easy and staff won't run away if you make eye-contact. read more
