I love this hardware store. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Some items are actually cheaper than The Home Depot.

I was amazed by the awesome security they had at this Lenhart's Ace Hardware. The moment my friend and I stepped in the store, the long haired elderly woman immediately pointed her fingers at my friend and demanded him to leave his backpack on the dirty floor. My friend was very compliant and obeyed her hand signals, but was greatly confused as he didn't understand any English. I asked why and she said it was to prevent theft, but there wasn't any signs stating that there was this policy in place. They have security cameras all over the store and don't have any reason to suspect us as we just walked into the store. What if our bags and items inside got stolen? Who would be held responsible? To prevent theft they should hire more security instead of lowering the shopping experience of loyal customers. How would you feel if you stepped inside a store to shop but was suddenly accused of theft out of nowhere? I can't imagine how bad my friend felt. She even started threatening us and said she would call the manager. Luckily for her, we were in a rush so we went to a different Ace Hardware right afterwards and the people there didn't stop us at all and we finished our shopping there without any mishaps. We also asked them if they had a leave the bag at the door policy, but they looked confused as well. I was greatly disappointed by how they treated their customers and felt strongly discriminated against. I will not be returning to this location and do not recommend this place to others! read more

Lenhart's ACE Hardware is a 5 Star Experience !!!!! I wanted this particular non-stick Fry pan that was a bit hard-to-find up close and personal (I'm one of those tactile people who likes to feel the weight, touch the handle etc.) and my on-line search showed it was available at this ACE Hardware in Mesa. So I decided to call ahead first to make sure they had it and I reached the NICEST, MOST helpful woman named Barbara. What a sweetie !!!!! She went and found the pan (yay); brought it up to the front and then answered ALL the questions I had about this pan. I asked her if she could hold it for me up front; she said, "No problem". When my husband and I arrived there it was right up front. We were both impressed by Barbara and her accommodating TOP-NOTCH customer service. The store is clean, very well organized and laid out in a welcoming, easy-to-navigate atmosphere. I highly recommended Lenhart's ACE in Mesa - definitely a find. read more

My son and I had a disappointing experience here last week right before closing. There was only one other customer in the store, a very polite transgender woman, who was being assisted by an African American staff member, Andy. The Caucasian staff member helping us, Sloan, unlocked the tool cabinet and I went to the register with my purchase. I had to go back to the tool section for a second item. Both staff members, Andy and Sloan, were standing there speaking very loudly and laughing while pointing at the transgender woman, who was at the register. I asked what they were laughing at, and Andy pointed to the register and said "he, she, it, whatever you wanna call it!" and they both laughed sarcastically. I promptly responded "I call her a human being." and walked away. Andy started stammering trying to save face, but I just walked away, disgusted with their behavior. I really hope that this woman wasn't aware of these two staff members laughing at her. I'm sure she has had to endure other ignorant people in her life, but certainly not at a business where hard-earned dollars are being spent. The world we live in is already full of narrow-minded people afraid of anything out of whatever "norm" they are used to. I don't want any part of that hatred and I'll be damned if I'm going to spend my money in a business that hires people like that. Shame on you, Lenhart's Ace Hardware. Customer service is slow and uncaring. What's worse is the online information and map to the store says they close at 6 PM. I got there at 5:08pm and they were closed. They were looking through the glass just staring. Useless and overpriced place with people That don't care about Customer service. I will never return to the store. read more

I own a business walking distance from this ace and have spent thousands of dollars in here on the buildout of my business and on random things with it being so close. I was in store the other day picking up something small with one of my employees and the entire time one of the employees of ace was supervising every movement we made until we got to the register where he then proceeded to stand behind us and make sure we paid for everything. My appearance is different than what this old timer is probably used to but no excuse for him to be breathing down my neck while trying to buy something. I felt very disrespected. With the convenience of this location I may still use it but if I don't need something in a pinch Home Depot it is. Get it together guys. read more

This small business is great! I've been coming here a lot to purchase little things for my humble abode. They may not carry everything, but at least I can get help here unlike the bigger stores! They hire seniors who are more than happy to assist you and direct you to the items you are searching. This type of personal service is something we rarely find in bigger stores like Home Depot or Lowe's. read more

Ace Hardware is that store that usually has one of everything including those hard-to-find items. When Home Depot or Lowes doesn't have what you're looking for then you have no choice but to hit an Ace. This location is a good location. The employees are Johnny on the spot so finding things is a breeze and you're in and out in no time. Downfall, prices are ridiculous and they only take returns from their own location. Even though they have that major store name they're all independently owned and operated. Nothing is more frustrating than going out of your way to return something you've been holding onto for a while and then finding out because you didn't buy it there, they won't take it back even though it has their name on the product. Unfortunately, Ace Hardware's are a necessary evil and you're looking to find those hard to find items. Ace is at least 25% higher than Home Depot or anyone else to begin with, and any error in procing is to their advantage. I saw the price of a female coaxial coupler as $2.99; I get to the counter and she rings it up for $3.99 and says that's what it is. I pay and go back and take a picture of the display listing the price as $2.99 and go back up there, now I'm behind three people. She calls the manager. I place my phone displaying the picture I took next to the recipes , thinking it should be self explanatory; the picture of the display with the actual same part that I paid $3.99 and tax for priced at $2.99. He asks if this picture Was taken in his store? Byaaa, it's fum yer store, doy. He says, this is the manager; he says he has to get a cashier and leaves me waiting. I think to myself, aren't these the same SOBs that tried to run Randy Bailey out of business, and would have but for the fact the he went all the way to the Supreme Court to fight it? This is the largest Ace hardware store I've been in. Everyone greeted us and asked if we needed help, etc. They have a pretty good selection, but not as large as Home Depot or Lowes. But they seem to give you a more personalized service. read more

He told me he help with two gallons of white paint we cane from Ellsworth and Broadway to get the paint when we got there a lady name rose help us and said I we can't help us and gave us nothing. The customer service here is exemplary. Today I had Kevin measuring glass for a 100+ year old cabinet. He even helped me figure out a solution to missing century old pieces to make the repair work. Prices might be a bit higher, but not enough to make me go to a big box store where I'm completely ignored. I love the convenience of having a community hardware store. read more

Wow! I have never experienced that kind of customer service in a hardware store before. The associate spent 10 minutes with me helping me find correct a correct o-ring that costs 56 cents. He ended up opening several packages and made sure I had the right one. He then spent time to come around and walk me to different parts of the store to find the things I needed. Very courteous, very helpful! While everyone goes to big stores like Home Depot and Lowe's, we are missing out on the great quality service and a care of the traditional hardware store. I love this place; it's great for hard-to-find hardware, fixtures & fittings (for older houses especially), whether it is a fly screen, an odd size nut & bolt or an old-fashioned window winder they have it all ~ and on the rare occasion they don't ~ they will have a useful suggestion instead! I needed a pane of glass replaced for a frame I have. I came in, I was directed by the cashier to an associate right away, I was handed off to a different associated since the one was with was just about to clock out, the new guy made the pane right away and it fit PERFECTLY. I checked out quickly and I was done! In and out in 10 minutes or less. No hassles, no issues. read more

Stopped here a couple times and the customer service is simply the best! Everyone is so friendly and helpful! I will drive a bit farther to make sure I come back here. Called the store at 4:51 and asked if they did window repairs. The guy replied yes. He asked is it single or double pane. I answered to which he replied be here by 5:30 so it can be done by time we close at 6. I arrived at 5:27. Don, the glass guy and head man in charge, says he can't do it today. I stated what I was told over the phone. He proceeds to tell me in a huffy voice to go get the window frame and to SHOO while waving his hands in the air. I return with the window frame much to my dismay at which time he tells me that I didn't give the guy the measurements over the phone. Well he didn't ask I replied. He replies don't toy think that would be helpful? Why sure it comes into play but again he didn't ask. He continues to slam and throw tools and materials around while huffing and puffing the entire time when he is not yelling at other employees telling them to "man up" because he and another older gentleman replace the window. He shouts at an employee for calling him sir while the other older man stats old military sayings about drill Sargeants not being called sir as they work for a living. With all due respect Don and Lenhart's Ace Hardware I am not a window replacement expert which is why you have customers like me. Furthermore this is your business and area of expertise who knows your business better than you and the employees that work there. Wouldn't it be in your business and customers best interest to ask the essential questions when called before telling someone to bring in their needs by a certain time? Furthermore Don, shouldn't you Sir man up and treat your customers and employees better instead of throwing a temper tantrum when you are needed for a job that you are paid to do? I will shoo with my business elsewhere in the future. I am unsure how you will continue prosperity with your current customer service and employee management skills SIR! read more
