Love the large variety of items as you can find stuff for house pets as well (cats and dogs). We were having trouble finding the containers for storage and the staff was super friendly to help us find one that would work for what I needed. I have been into this Shoppers Supply many, many times over the years. I love that it is a family owned business. "In 1966, a Mr. George Schmidt opened a small business called Shoppers Supply. Starting out as a fleet and farm operation in the rural town of Spencer, Iowa, over the years it has blossomed into a multi-store retailing business. Even today, Shoppers Supply continues to be a family-owned and operated retailer, run by three consecutive generations of the Schmidt family." They are involved in the community and also support local animal rescues and local businesses by allowing them to set up in front of the store/in the parking lot. The service has always been satisfactory and typically quick. They also offer complementary fresh popped popcorn which I think is such a nice touch. I personally come here to buy food for my flock (chickens and ducks) and the peach rings.. lol! I always forget to snag pictures but they have lots of items within their inventory. Within the store, they have tools, clothing/shoes, livestock feed/items, guns, fishing items (including bait/live worms), dog items, uhaul services, and so much more. They have live chicks (seasonally) as well which I have to shield my eyes from looking at.... :). Lately they have typically been priced at $5.99 a chick (or more depending on breed). They have had some really awesome breeds in the past. I do feel the value is comparable to other feed stores within the area throughout the years. The prices have raised in the last year so I haven't done a comparison price for price recently. For poultry feed specifically, they offer Country Companion (CC), Nutrena, Purina, Kruse's Perfection and organic brands (this list is not inclusive of all items just the ones I remember). Always loved shopping here and buy our grain for our horses here and numerous other things at a high cost. We have a cattle ranch and make large orders all the time. We decided we wanted to try out chickens and bought a nice coop that was on sale and then decided it wasn't going to work for what we wanted. Went out of town for two weeks thinking we could return it when we got back not realizing they have only a 30 day return policy where most places are 60-90 days. Go to return it and the cashier lady was very rude and told us we were way out of the return date which was only 15 days past the 30 which isn't that long after. We will no longer shop there and will tell all our ranching friends not to. Moving our business back down to Tractor Supply where they have always treated us like we mattered. If it wasn't for the rude customer service, we wouldn't have been so upset. read more

I am not sure about the quality of care they give there chicken chicks. We recently purchased 9 chicks and 2 died, purchased 2 replacements that same day another one died. Bought 4 more and over the next 2 days 2 more died. We have raised chicks several times now and have only lost one chick. I get my horse grain here. It's cheaper than Yractor Supply and The Stock Shop, a local feed store.

The chick cruelty at this establishment exudes shut me down immediately. I went into shoppers supply today to get a new top and possibly some cowboy boots, and I was aghast at the condition in which I saw the chickens getting their little head stuck while trying to eat a morsel. I would like to make a recommendation to rectify the animal cruelty that is going on at this establishment. I recommend getting rid of the guillotine like feeders, and replacing the whole cages with a watering trough with hay at the bottom and a red lamp, so the animals can eat freely and have plenty of room to spread their wings without getting their necks stuck. I will be back soon within the next few weeks and I hope that there are changes made so that I don't have to see the animals suffering. Please go to tractor supply and see how well their chicks are treated as opposed to shoppers and supplies chicks. I felt like the chickens were being shoved in a tacklebox. In general, I don't think I will be able to shop here anymore if I continue to see such animal cruelty. read more

Over 90% of the reviews I post at Yelp are for restaurants. For those the typical things that are important to people are quality of food, quality of service, price, cleanliness and ambience. None of those things apply to a place like Shoppers Supply. I've driven by this place more times than I can count and never had the slightest idea what they sell. Today we were out looking for some things for a DIY home remodel project and not having a lot of luck finding what we were looking for so on a total whim we decided to see what this place is all about. Wow, what an experience. It's like a Home Depot on steroids but with the look and feel of a small town farmer's co-op, you know that store where you can buy everything from car stuff to clothing to feeds and hardware and sporting goods and just about everything else. This places is a treasure trove for stuff you just can't find anywhere else, even some very desirable looking candies and other snacks. And like the local farmer's co-op the good news is that they are locally owned (with only two locations) and employ local people. It seems the only negative is that a few reviewers had some issues with somebody on the staff several years ago but that wasn't my experience ... I always believe that people treat you the way you treat them. One thing that surprised me is that the prices weren't outrageous like some of the smaller hardware store chains, most of the things I looked at were on a par with most other stores. Maybe the highest compliment is that now I feel I can find some things that previously I could only get from places like Amazon but I can do so by supporting my own community and shopping locally. We are big fans of Shoppers. They have a much larger selection than any other feed store in the area. We can grab our live stock and riding necessities and pick up a new pair of boots and flannel. Even pick up a few home goods while we are there. Prices are comparable to others. read more

Second trip I made, driving over an hour to pick up stall mats. I called prior both times and was told "yes" they have them in stock. I get to the store, none. No they didn't sell out in the 2 hours before I called. Tonight I was told "haven't had them for awhile." Only thing the manager did was offer to take my phone number and call me when they were back in stock and could call the supply to maybe find out when they were sending more. Wouldn't I just buy from the supplier then? Didn't offer the slightest discount to make up for all the time and gas I wasted. Y'all have really changed. read more

I must admit that I have not shopped here for any legitimate "farm" supplies nor feed. Unless you count human husband food. Shoppers' stocks Amish Wedding brand foods, which we love. The buckwheat maple pancake mix and butter pecan syrup are the best! They also have great specialty sodas and candy, as well as vintage candies. Shoppers has everything. We have purchased clothing, shop tools, pest control chemical, candles, soap, toys, food and canning supplies. Oh, and ammunition! Shoppers now carries guns and ammo, which is fantastic! I was in yesterday looking to get a key copied. There was one guy at the register helping a customer. The employee said he could help me when he got through with this customer. Apparently there was some kind of issue with the customer's transaction and they had to wait for something to come up on the computer. As I stood there for almost 15 minutes watching these two shooting the bull, I got angrier each minute, when he could have been helping me. I walked out, and will not be back. Nobody else seems to be shopping there either, as nobody else came to the register as these two were completely oblivious to what was going on around them. I probably could have walked out of the place with anything I wanted without paying and he wouldn't have noticed a thing. read more

Bought a battery for my tractor. Raining like crazy and receipt was ruined. Bought 3 days ago and will not charge. Took back and I now have a 80.00 paper weight as they won't even look it up. I buy 3000.00 worth of hay there a month not to mention everything else. I will make sure all the horse folks out here by me know that in 3 days the kids working the store can't exchange a battery for my tractor. Makes you feel like your doing a bad thing. Guess my hay will be coming from somewhere else along with all other parts and supplies for feed. What a shame too my name is Jim leach and I live in Apache junction. I was very excited when they opened. Time has lessened my excitement for the simple reason that they do not keep on top of stocking feed. The first time I had an issue it was with mite infested feed. I talked to several people the last one saying that they would talk to the rep and see about making it "right".. We're talking about 5 bags of scratch that run the better part of 15 bucks apiece so it was not small change. I never heard back. Messages left went unanswered. The next time, and yes, there was a next time. What can I say feed stores are a bit scarce around here. I purchased 2 bags of pigeon feed. about 25 bucks each. When I got home and opened them I was sickened to see that mealworms had completely consumed the feed and all that was left was dust powder and worm crap. They refunded my money no problem but the person saying off handedly that the feed has been here since we opened, didn't endear them to me and made me question the freshness of their feed. I don't appreciate that they are "out of stock" on scratch feed every single time they have a sale on feed. IF they don't want to discount the scratch, say so. Don't lie. It makes the register girls squirm to have to lie to customers faces and it makes me mad. I also don't appreciate that they are frequently out of feed items. Telling customers to "call first" on basic items that should be stocked at all times at a feed store. Ie: chicken feed. I think it is a reasonable expectation to think that feed will be at the feed store somewhat regularly. Last straw was tonight calling ahead (yes, that's right, I surrendered and made the call) only to be told that they have the scratch but that it's " in the back" and it'd better for me to come tomorrow. Really? Over an hour to close and they can't rustle up some feed out of storage? It's not like they have to go harvest it. Frankly it was better for me to come tonight...but I will take their suggestion to feed shop tomorrow. It just won't be at Shopper's. read more

This is usually my favorite store for horse and pet supplies. Cons - The last three visits they have been out of items - dog food on two visits and thoroughbred pellets. I don't like changing my pets food and risk stomach upset. Pros - Usually they have good service, and nice customer appreciation sales. I hope they start to better manage their in-stock inventory. read more

Shoppers is slowly going down hill. I can't help, but notice that the staff changes over quickly. This might be the reason no on in the store has a clue. More than once, I have paid for my feed order and had it be wrong when they put it in the truck. I even told the girl that the price seemed to low to be what I usually buy. She rudely snapped at me. Most employees are on their phones or gossiping with other employees. They do not work together as a team. If they don't know something they do not try to find the answers. I think I'm going to terminate my relationship with this store or atleast this location. I usually always leave frustrated for some reason. Good thing there are other feed stores nearby! read more

VERY poor customer service, from the employees working the floor to rude cashiers. Yesterday I had to interrupt two women employees conversation to get help. I've experience that type of service at the Apache Junction store twice (new location). The first time I let it slide, there was a MANAGER near the check out counters lecturing several employes, (maybe that was his teaching Technic) and had to finish his task before even making eye contact with me and several other customers. AND boy oh boy,,,,don't get there anywhere near closing time. Instead of saying "can we help you find something ,, or God forbid, "take your time" to the paying customer, they announce loud and clear , "you only have 10 minutes until we close"! What or who is Corporate ? Is that the way they want customers treated. Before they changed locations in A.J. , there were a few REALLY nice gals who worked at the old store, where did they go? Whatever you do, do NOT come to this location for UHaul rentals. Was scheduled to pick up a 20' truck with a 6x12 trailer promptly at 9 a.m. Store clerk, Dave, kindly handled both transactions and told us we could go outside and they would bring around our truck and trailer. Okay, sounds good, right? Nope, we patiently waited, only to find out 40 minutes later (after I walked back into the store to inquire where the truck and trailer were and they were just casually chatting by the register) there was no such trailer and guy was stalling hoping it would get dropped off. They did have the truck, which was dirty and ashtray full of ashes. I had reserved two dollies and 10 blankets. We were still trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and he finally found a trailer in Chandler and was to text us the address while we were enroute. Never received a text or a phone call. Tried to call; he was out of the building. Was on hold for 10 minutes. I hung up and called corporate. He should have told us the moment he knew they did not have the trailer and the items I needed for the move. Common courtesy and integrity are virtues you won't find here. Used to like Shoppers, but today was their last strike. Was looking for a specific item, called, and was helped by a lady with the shortest version of "customer service" I have ever experienced. In stock, and quoted me the price. Drive 25 miles to the store only to find out that she gave me the wrong price and the cashier, some young girl who obviously didn't want to be there by her attitude and doesn't care about service either, decides not to honor the price. A complete waste of my time and energy. I've been in sales and marketing for almost 20 years. Shoppers, today you earned your rating and lost a customer. Awful service and the manager was rude. Went in to buy a fly mask for my horse and they have literally dozens of extra large sizes, but had only one for an Arabian size. The only one they had, had ear covers, which my horse hates and our other horses end up ripping the mask off from the ears, so I asked the manager if they would sell me the one with ears for the same price for the one without ears, not only did she say no, she didn't even offer to sell it at a discount, just too bad, not gonna do it. Well, we're new to the area with 4 horses and guess what, they just lost 2 customers who would have given them a good amount of business. Whatever happened to customer service? Give em a little discount at least and they'll come back and hey, might end up being one of their best customers, but, nope, not this manager, so we'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

At first I was glad this store opened. Over time however their prices have increased dramatically, but I still shopped there anyhow. Today however was the last straw. I decided to ride my Harley to their location to make a couple small purchases for grilling items. Since I was on my motorcycle, I elected to carry a backpack to carry my items home.I am a well mannered, a well dressed 33 year old professional. I was spoken to however as if I was a 16 year old that was in the store to steal. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this location, but not a dime more for now on. Luckily a Tractor Supply opened right down the road. Much nicer store, and friendlier. I would like to add that I visited a Bed Bath Beyond and Walgreens right after this encounter, neither of which took issue with the bag. BB&B even allowed me in a few minutes before opening and told me to come on in and look around while they finish opening. Guess I don't give off a thief vibe that Shoppers accused me of being. Hey everyone, this is the place some of us wish for. The friendliest and most helpful staff around, very nice and clean from floor to ceiling, a huge parking lot and they accept credit cards. I visited the new one at NWC of Queen Creek Rd & Alma School Rd in Chandler. I was looking for a pair of wheelbarrow handles and came out with some nice DIY stuff for the home. Called the Apache Junction Shoppers Supply Store to see if they had an item in stock. Kiera the cashier who answered the phone was rude and short and acted as though it would be a waste of my time to be transferred to the equine dept. in order to find out if they had a few products in stock. Due to her rudeness I hung up on her and called the Chandler store and spoke to a couple of very nice and helpful people. Afterward, I called the Apache Junction store back and asked for the manager. Joe said he was the store manager and when I tried to explain the rudeness of his cashier he immediately became defensive of her and said that she was his best cashier and that he had never received a single complaint in the years that she has worked there. Due to Kiera and Joe I have decided to never spend any money at any of their stores and take my business to one of their competitors instead. Shoppers Supply lost $2,304 today and my repeat business due to their rude and disrespectful employee Kiera and store manager Joe at the Apache Junction location......FYI JOE, KIERA HAS JUST RECEIVED HER FIRST COMPLAINT!!!!!! read more
