I have been in here several times and the first FEW times that I was treated like a piece of garbage I just figured oh they are having a bad day or something but after several times here and experiencing the same stuff almost every time I think the reality is the workers here are just extremely rude and dismissive. Today I asked an employee who was walking towards the back if they carried a particular item , I side eyes me with a nasty look on his face and just continued walking completely ignoring me, I understand maybe we was in the middle of something but he could have easily said" I will be with you in a minute" instead he just blatantly ignored me . I went to the register and mentioned this to the chasheir, she just smiled at me and stood there staring at me like I was a dimwit, literally would not say anything . I wasn't throwing a fit or being rude, I just went to her and told her what the other employee had just done because its really rude to treat people that way.I didnt press it any further because her acting like that came off as a little nuts. I wont be buying anything from that store again. I have been to this HF about 10 times over the last month as it's just around the corner from our new store. Without exception, the staff is horrible. They don't want to help at all. At checkout they wont even make eye contact, don't greet you and don't thank you. They won't even acknowledge you're human. Customer service comes from the top down, so it's obvious HF corporate and the store manager don't give a whit about customer service. I go there for the deals, but my stomach burns every time as I know I'm going to be treated like garbage. read more

I never thought I would want to leave a review for a place like this because I figured they got inexpensive Chinese stuff that we all know is disposable.. However I was so happy with my recent experience. We went there to buy a Jack everybody I encountered was super friendly and knowledgeable and and even a guy who was just showning up for work and hadn't even clocked in offered to help me load my purchase in my vehicle. Harbor Freight is always a mixed bag, and you just have to know what you are buying. Either research it, or assume it's cheap and disposable. There are lots of gems and lots of junk too. All of my air tools have really held up well for many years, despite being half the price (or less) compared to name brands. I have a $180 utility trailer that has held up over many years and thousands of miles. The hand tools vary in quality, and the handheld power tools tend towards the junkier side, but usable usually. Forget buying the cheap welders and such. One great thing though is that they will take anything back--no questions asked--for the first 30 days. read more

HF is my favorite store next to 99 Cents Only stores and WalMart. Can you imagine this single SENIOR WOMAN likes HF so much? HF is my Honey Do. The stuff is so cheap already, sometimes a single use makes the purchase worth it. Several times I got defective merchandise, such as an orbital car polisher, where when you turned it on for the first time, horrible racket and all these plastic shards came flying out. Another time I bought a hand truck/cart. 1 year later I paid a day-laborer to put assemble it and discovered that the L shaped platform and it's screw assembly holes and platform width did not match the holes and width on the poles. It was discontinued by HF and not even in their computer, but they knew they sold it and gave me credit for what I said I paid for it $19.95. Another time I bought a bistro/beach umbrella with wooden spines, which broke the first time I used it, and the wind blew it down. It was beyond the 90 days or I didn't have receipt, but they gave me credit. They do not carry those crappy items anymore. I never "got stuck" with any crappy item, because they refused to make me happy by taking it back, and I think I've been shopping at HF for at least 17 years. Recently I purchased a 50-ft no-kink garden hose from Lowes cos it was on sale, but still was $19.95. I wondered at the time, how much it would be at HF. After buying it, I found HF had a sale on their 50-ft no-kink hose, marked down from $17.99 to $13.99, plus I love it that HF lets me STILL use their 20% off coupon on a sale item, so price would have been $11.19. So I returned the Lowes hose, saving $8.76. HF workers are helpful whatever store I shop at. No bad service or experience ever stuck in my memory, and it is a LONG one! I also get the free items for a no-minimum requirement purchase using 20% off coupon for that too. Then I put the free items in a Christmas gift exchange bag. I think those 25 foot orange tape measures with the super large size numbers, headlamps, and blue multiple LED flashlights (football field shaped) make GREAT GIFTS. Asking for my phone number at the cash register lets the stores know I frequent it, and then they keep me on the mailing list for their sales and special coupons for free items that are better than those found in the junk mail ads. This review is for THIS location. Harbor Freight is what it is. A good place to buy cheap tools and materials when you don't need the best. But THIS location. Holy Cow. The customer base and the employees are probably the rudest, clueless, most self centered people on the planet. Combine them in the same store and you can forget getting out of this place in any sort of reasonable time. This store *sometimes* has a common feeder line, sometimes not. It's up to you to figure it out, and when it is in effect, and you are the last person waiting, never fails, some clueless idiot walks right up in front of you and the cashier starts helping them, totally ignoring you even though they called you up next. People in this part of town also cannot read or count money. Save yourself. If you must go to horror fright tools, go to the one in Tempe on Warner and McClintock. People there are polite, and the customers have a brain. read more

How can you not love this place, seriously! Yea, yea, this place does have some junk and don't expect years of good service out of their tools BUT for those, usually expensive tools which you probably will only use 5 time in the next 5 years, like, lets say a sliding hammer, then this place is just right! This place is also great for the everyday type of stuff thats ether disposable or brake able, like clamps, zip ties, gloves, drill bits, and so on. There are some hidden treasures to be found here as well. You just need to look for them. One great example is their black tool bags. Its basically a military bag for only $6 to $12 depending on what size. Great for those little emergency kits or car or wheeling kits! Only thing, service could be better sometimes... Usually it will take you 5 minute before you can get someone to help you out. read more

I had never been to harbor freight before. Looking online for a trailer dolly, they were one of the only stores around that kept them in stock. I drove 15 miles to get one so I could try and get my pontoon boat in my residential garage. The less than $100 dolly worked great but the boat didnt fit. I went back 2 days later and returned the dolly, they were great anout it and didnt give me any hassle. I ended up buying a half dozen other random hand tools I needed because they were so good about it. I'll go back again when I need something read more

Took me 20 minutes to find what I needed - just a small package of rare earth magnets. Came in when they were busy so it was hard to get a hold of someone to help me, which is understandable. However, if the store was organized in a way that made sense, I wouldn't have needed any help. Rare earth magnets? Not in the section marked "magnets." Another customer helped me locate them... Next to the scissors. I would say I won't be back but Home Depot doesn't carry rare earth magnets... So I guess Harbor Freight may get another chance to impress me. read more

It's been said, "You get what you pay for." I'm not a professional anything. But I occasionally need various tools for my projects. I cannot afford to buy high quality (say EXPENSIVE here) tools from Snap On, DeWalt or Milwaukee that I may use only a few times in months or years. The hand tools work very well and have served me for many years. The electric and battery tools are some times marginal, at best. But, as an example, I have a hand held grinder that I frequently use. I bought it for $10.00 a Harbor Freight years ago. Still works great. This as opposed to a high price unit for $200.00. I subscribe to "the dumpster warranty.". Use the tools from Harbor Freight and throw them in the dumpster if or when they go bad. I'll buy another new one from Harbor Freight that I can AFFORD to replace 20 times (not likely) compared to the high dollar units from the major manufacturers. So... sure, I buy a lot of things from Harbor Freight. I'm just a shade tree mechanic. I get the job done every time without getting a second mortgage on my house to buy Snap On, etc. read more

Read your brochures carefully and not only but free stuff too. Things that you would put hard earned money for-not junk. Great place. Pittsburg tools are just as good as craftsmen with A better warranty. I am going to buy a greenhouse this fall from them. I buy wooden prehistic wooden animal kits too. They have a lot of different items. Every month I read through each page and every item. Always friendly cashiers. Beware of purchasing power tools from Harbor Freight. I purchased a Chicago Electric Reciprocating Saw, Saw Blades and 18 Volt NiCd Battery for Father's Day (as a gift). The battery did not come with a charger (what?). When on Monday to buy the battery charger and it was not available in the store (any store in my area for that matter); but they still had one listed on their website. Ordered it online. Thought the problem was solved, NOPE. Got a cancellation notice on my order a few days later. Why? The product has been DISCONTINUED and cannot be found anywhere (eBay, Amazon, etc.) I just bought this! CONSUMER BEWARE! I have had two bad experiences with Harbor Freight Tools and will never deal with them again. The first was with the purchase of a compressor. I only needed it for light-duty use. It was supposed to be warranted for 30 days. During that time, I filled bike tires approximately 5 times. On the 32nd day, it stopped working and it appeared that any seals or gaskets between the compressor and air tank had blown out. You could hear leaking air. I called the store and talked to the manager. He said they would NOT take it back. I was incredulous. I explained to him that the compressor, which wasn't cheap, was only used a few times and only to fill bike tires. He stood his ground and refused to help me. I stopped shopping at that store, which I had patronized at least every other week for years. Fast forward to recently. I received a Harbor Freight gift card as a Christmas gift. I have been the victim of identity theft and do not use my credit cards online any longer. I found something on their website to purchase and went through the order steps and inserted the gift card number and PIN. It would not let me complete the purchase without putting in credit card information, even though my purchase total was several dollars less than the gift card value. I called their customer service and was told that maybe the order desk could help over the phone. They then told me that they would not take any order without a credit card number, even when the gift card would be sufficient. This company is not customer-focused or customer-friendly by any stretch. They are the worst and I would not deal with them in any capacity in the future. read more

I first went here a couple of years ago thinking it would be like one of those dollar stores with no competent help. I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff is helpful, you are always greeted when you come into the store, and it is always neat and clean. The emails they send with all the coupons really help. For instance, I needed a torque wrench, found a nice one for about $20, and I got 20% off that with a coupon. I felt like they were giving it away. The tools are fine for home handyman types like myself, but I see plenty of folks who are obviously using HF tools at work shopping there. And on the one occasion I had to return something, they took it right back no questions asked. I bought a set of socket wrenches for my son, metric and SAE, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch drives for less than $30 that he is thrilled with. Even my wife finds things when she goes there with me. My second home. Of course you have to be careful what you buy because the stuff is made very cheaply but for home use most everything is great. I have bent their hand wrenches with my hands. The ends opened up but I have yet to break or even scar one of their impact sockets. My expensive airless paint sprayer died so I figured I would try theirs. At a $160 bucks not only was it just as good or better than my high dollar one cleaning the Harbor freight one was much easier.
