While attending a Yelp event at St. Elmo last night, I noticed this glorious purple and white food truck selling smash burgers, and one thing I know about myself is my need and desperation for a burger if they smash it. Patty Palace, take me away. Like most food trucks in the big '25, you scan the QR code to place your order so the cook can keep churning out quality burgers instead of slowing down to take orders. My order was simple: a single burger and fries. I placed my order at 8:55 pm, and by 9:10 pm, alongside the other St. Elmo Brewing customers and other Yelp homies, my burger was ready. I sat down at the picnic table right across from the food truck and locked in. After one flash photo for proof, I easily destroyed their Palace Burger. I personally believe food should not be taken to go. It is important to eat it immediately upon receiving it. It's just a way of life. Inside are your classic burger toppings: the finest American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, mustard, and sauce on a glorious potato bun. Of the few things that stayed with me through my picky eater career is yellow mustard, and I don't even notice it. The whole thing was a banger. The fries were extremely crispy on the outside and soft on the interior. A perfect fry. On the side was their house sauce, which was very Thousand Island-esque. I dipped the fries in it, and it elevated them. A quality fry doesn't necessarily need sauce, but I took the sauce here and enjoyed it because their fusion just worked so well. Patty Palace serves a REALLY good veggie burger! The patty is definitely homemade. The person working was confused when I asked for the regular burger toppings with cheese and mayo and everything just on a vegetable patty, but I explained I was not vegan, and he agreed to do it. This review is for the truck on Sixth located at Zilker Brewing. The menu is limited which is fine by me because too many choices can sometimes be overwhelming. They have fries, onion petals, a single or double burger, and a vegan burger. The burgers come with cheese, grilled onions, sauce, pickles, & mustard. The burger bun is perfectly sauce yet holds the burger together without becoming soggy. Smash burgers have been all the rage the last several years and I'm still here for it. A very solid smash burger after sampling adult beverages throughout the yard for a Yelp event. This was a perfect cheeseburger and one patty was plenty you can get a double and vegetarian option. I'm a little sad that Double Friendship closed down because I loved the Pandan Creme Brulee but Patty Palace replacing it is a welcome addition for me. Also located in St. Elmo Brewing, Patty Palace, the no-frills burger food truck by the same folks who do one of my other favorite food trucks, Spicy Boys, serves my current favorite go-to burger. I love a good burger. I love it with a refreshing beer for lunch or as a greasy savior before bed to curb a hangover from a long night of drinking. Nothing else can satisfy a burger craving when it comes. If it's not the strange nostalgic comfort of a McDonald's cheeseburger, more and more I just prefer a no-frills smash burger where I can just taste the meat and cheese without any filler. I spent years trying out different toppings -- lettuce, tomato, jalapeños, fried egg, pineapple, beets -- or even how best to have onions in it -- raw, grilled, caramelized, crispy onion strings, or fried whole onion rings. All of this to say, that I found my way back to simplicity of focusing on the meat, cheese, and bun, while removing anything that would detract from those. I personally find that lettuce and tomato take away from the flavor of the meat and I'd rather just eat a salad on the side. There is no other burger on the menu other than an in-house made veggie burger. The only things they add to the burger are grilled onions, pickles, and mustard. The meat is crisp and flavorful, and the overall result is so satisfying. It can be on the salty side but that's what the beer is for. read more

Got the double cheeseburger with the grilled onions, small fries, and drink which is one of their combos. Price was somewhat premium - I think around 11-12 bucks. The burger was pretty good, didn't really have a wow-factor, but it was good yet patty was slightly salty and I did not get enough grilled onions on it. I asked - and you can ask for extra onions, for which next time I will, but that was disappointing. Fries were pretty good. It's a small size w/ the combo but did the job. Still feel it's slightly premium priced but it was solid. Service was good and got my food relatively quick. I must stay - after I finished my burger about 45 min pass and I started to feel slight queezy. Maybe it was the grease from the burger - it had some but wasn't too greasy - but I just felt slightly off. Nothing majorly bad and did not get sick, but somewhat similar to when I eat a Mickey D's double cheeseburger. That's why I reviewed them as "Ok". Otherwise this would be a 3.5-star to 4-star experience. If they were offering a coupon I would go back in an instant and ask for extra onions. I am not ruling these guys out but I am not rushing back to satisfy my burger fix as I do want to try other burger places and compare. They are not my fave, but they were still pretty good. This was one of the best burgers (smashed or otherwise) I've EVER had. It's less than 15 bucks for a combo if you get a single patty - which is honestly plenty. The standout to me was the cheese. I don't know what kind of cheese they used, but it is gooey in a good way and looks amazing on the burger. The meat tastes so good, comparable to the halal meat I usually buy in North Austin halal butcher shops. The buns are so soft and fresh - in fact each bite almost melts in your mouth! I caught Covid 3 years ago and my taste has been dull/gone ever since. This burger had flavors and freshness that punched thru the dull fog of the 'Vid, and I'm pretty sure I'm healed. This burger isn't food it's medicine - perfect parts nostalgia, freshness, simplicity and taste. And don't get me started on the fries. Crispy, brown and perfect in every way. Add the fries for 2.99 to make it a combo - this burger deserves a worthy co-star and these fries do not fuck around. 10/10 - my lunch here was the first time since catching Covid that I truly enjoyed food. In the words of the great "American" action movie star hero Arnold Schwarzenegger- "I'll be back" No pics because I dont take pictures of food. But it looked as good as it taste. I came here on a Saturday night with my cousin and nephew as it was getting late and it was near our Airbnb and this place was such a disappointment. When we first arrived, nobody was at the food truck and after waiting for like 10 mins someone finally showed up. We gave our order and they guy said 8-10 mins for the food, so we go to Zilker's next door to get some beer and after all that the food took over 25-30 mins. The burger was just very underwhelming from what I expected at all. Our burgers weren't even that warm from what I expected after waiting that whole time. The patty was really burnt and even their secret sauce couldn't save that burger. There is so many better places for a burger but I know I would never recommend this place to anybody.
