Extremely disappointing--and frankly, confusing--customer experience with Patton. Patton apparently says it was established with the goal of providing its customers with "the best customer experience possible." After my experience, I have to assume that statement comes with some very creative definitions of both customer and experience. I first contacted Patton on August 11 after we experienced a power surge the night before and the upstairs HVAC system, which Patton had installed in May of this year, stopped working. We are new to Tennessee and were unfamiliar with brownouts and the possibility of an HVAC system entering a safety shutdown after a power event. I was able to restart the system and it was operating perfectly. I wasn't calling to complain or demand service--I simply wanted to confirm that I had taken the correct steps and hadn't done anything that could potentially damage the system. During that same call, I requested the records for the system, including the warranty registration information. I was told those would be emailed to me. I also requested information about a membership agreement because I was interested in having Patton continue servicing both my upstairs and downstairs HVAC systems. The only information I received was an invitation to become a member on August 11. The records and warranty information I specifically requested? Apparently those were destined for the same place as the promised callback. Later that day, while inspecting the upstairs unit in the attic, I noticed that the copper refrigerant line was exposed. It appeared an attempt had been made to tape or secure it, but the tape had shifted and the line did not appear to be properly insulated or sealed. Considering the system was only approximately three months old, I called Patton on August 12 and politely asked if someone could come out and properly secure the line. I was told someone would call me back. They didn't. On August 17, I tried calling again. This time I was greeted with the message: "We cannot complete this call." Apparently, this is Patton's interpretation of the "best customer experience possible." It turns out my phone number had been blocked. I'm still trying to understand exactly what I did to earn that distinction. I wasn't abusive. I wasn't demanding anything unreasonable. I wasn't even asking them to do anything beyond addressing a concern with an installation that they had performed only three months earlier. I was also trying to obtain basic warranty and equipment documentation for a system they installed. The other issue involved the downstairs HVAC system, which was installed in 2023. I asked whether Patton had service records showing whether the system had been properly maintained and whether I could obtain those records. I was told they don't keep records. As a military family that has moved several times, we've dealt with quite a few HVAC companies over the years, and we've always been provided maintenance and service documentation. So I found that answer unusual and asked some perfectly reasonable follow-up questions. I was trying to understand the history of the system and make sure there weren't existing issues I needed to know about. Apparently, asking questions about your HVAC systems is enough to get you promoted to the "do not answer this customer's calls" list. I understand that misunderstandings happen. I understand that companies get busy. I even understand that a company may occasionally disagree with a customer's request. What I don't understand is blocking a customer's phone number instead of communicating with them. If Patton's idea of delivering the "best customer experience possible" is promising to send documentation and never sending it, promising a callback and never making it, refusing to provide basic service information, and ultimately blocking the customer's phone number, then I suppose they have succeeded spectacularly. Unfortunately, this experience has completely undermined my confidence in allowing Patton to service or stand behind either of my HVAC systems going forward. The irony is that I initially contacted Patton because I wanted to continue doing business with them. I was literally asking how to become a maintenance customer. They managed to turn a customer who was actively trying to give them more business into a former customer without ever having to say "no" to the membership. That's genuinely impressive. There are plenty of HVAC companies that understand that customer service means more than installing a unit and collecting a check. I strongly recommend finding one of those companies. I made sure to let my realtor know as well so she can recommend literally anyone else to those new to the area and unaware of these guys. If "the best customer experience possible" is actually the goal, Patton may want to consider starting with answering the customer's phone call. read more

The bottom line is that I think you pay about twice what other plumbers would charge or there about. They quote a service fee that seems reasonable but then you end up paying, in my case, the $125 fee plus $125 for a five minute toilet clog and $325 for a simple outside faucet repair job. They had already unclogged my toilet before giving the quote for the faucet, so they were already into me for $250 before starting the outside work. I could have stopped them after the quote but then I would have had to pay a service fee for someone else to come out. So I felt committed at that point. On the positive side, they were on time and professional in appearance and demeanor. read more

All consumers beware. Rogue traders. These guys are very cute and clever. They charge an out front service fee of $89 and then waive it if you except the quote, the problem is they grossly overcharge ib the first place! The problem is these guys are grossly overpriced and they prey on the vulnerable in the week. They will dispute that, because they say That you have every right to refuse the quote and we part our merry ways. The problem with the argument is set at the point that you call these on reputable traders to your house. You have a leak and water is not good. I happened to be a senior with Disability and this meant I had no real choice but to except. The amazing thing was the diagnosis was incorrect initially! It should've been the simple changing of some washers on the shut off valve or the replacement of the shut off valves under my kitchen sink spoons into him spending two hours convincing me to purchase a garbage disposal unit, the wall still didn't need to replace was grossly overpriced. He stated that an actual fact it was a Fossett on the kitchen sink that needed replacing. You probably wonder why I didn't go ahead and get the Fossett replaced. To fit $150. It was gonna cost a total price of $750. The garbage disposal unit I later found out costs $80 from Costco but they charged me $750. Daylight robbery yes they will say I had the choice to refuse the quote. However, after two hours of him fitting the waste disposal unit and then informing me That the faucet was going to Cost me for the $750, what a coincidence. I cut loose the trader only because he did not have a Fossett on board his van but that gave me breathing room to cuss things out. I will be making a report to the Better Business Bureau For what good that will do and the owner informed me that they only make a 63% profit no 450% profit. So warning to anyone that is elderly or vulnerable. Please find someone else, traders like this probably on the vulnerable. And the news of the Plumber who must've felt guilt charging me what he did was to say that the quality of service and warranty from these crooks is far and above anyone else in Memphis. A total lack of moral compass is how old would some up this outfit. And the problem is my State Farm agent recommended them, so that's why I use them. A bunch of shysters! read more

Excellent service. We have used twice for issues with our AC and both times the service was on time and they fixed the problem. One time was an electrical issue and the other time was a coolant leak. They serviced the unit for an affordable price and told us what our long term options were. They also explained some of the problems with our older unit. read more

Customers be aware, especially those with elderly parents. My 80+ year old mother called them to service her boiler in midtown. They lit her pilot light to it and charged her $350. Ok. They then went on to tell her that the entire boiler system was needing to be replaced. That part I will not argue. It did in fact need to be replaced. The tech that services her boiler told her it would be $32,000 to replace and left without providing any additional details other than they would email her an estimate. My mom called me because she was upset and distraught at that bomb being dropped on her and didn't know what to do. I called Patton Plumbing and spoke to the owner. I asked that they not contact my mom any more, and that they deal directly with me and gave him my contact info. He agreed. In the meantime, I got another estimate from a very reputable mechanical engineering company, who came out and walked us through what we needed exactly and how much it would cost. They quoted us $15,000 which is much more reasonable, and it was doing the same work Patton said they would do. They drew up an estimate along with drawings of what would be happening. In the meantime, we heard nothing from Patton. More than 2 weeks later, Patton emails my mom the quote, which is now $35,000...after I asked them to deal only with me. Once again, causing anxiety with my mom. But not to worry, they did subtract the $350 service call from the estimate. There is no justification they can give. I would never recommend anyone do business with a company that does this to our parents. I will tell this to anyone who will listen. read more

Shawn Patton does a phenomenal job taking care of his customers no Matter how long it's been since we used them. With the ice storm we lost power and I was trying to hook a generator up to my furnace. Shawn went out of his way to help me and answer questions and even called me back later to check on us. if you want to pay 2X what you would with other hvac companies, Patton is your company. They quoted $1500 for work 2 other companies quoted at $800 and $850 respectively. $150 part and less than 1 hour to install, must be a $1300 per hour rate...:-). And when you tell them they are robbing people, they tell you about their trucks, insurance, warranties, support staff...like really? Avoid unless you want to dramatically overpay. read more

We have used them multiple times in the past for different issues and I have recommended their services countless times. Their current practices are horrible though. Their plumber came and uncovered a leak behind my toilet and did not offer to fix it. He wanted to sell me on repiping my entire house for over $10k. He said he would call me back, but never did. He left water spraying into my bathroom for 3 days. I had to message the owner directly and he put me in touch with the original guy. He was going to come that Saturday morning so I canceled my early morning plans. He had not shown by 1230 so I called and canceled the service call and had another company fix my leak. The owner is defending his employee and has not offered an apology. And he's upset that I replied to a Facebook post looking for HVAC services saying that I had an issue with his company. Apparently it's wrong for me to be upset about a company's bad performance. read more

In today's world of service, I have encountered so many business owners who just want to get your money with little to no sincere customer satisfaction. Patton Plumbing is NOT that type of business. Not only were they on time, great service, professional, and not expensive (compared to others), the personal relationship you develop with Shawn Patton the owner himself is remarkable. He was all about educating you and showing you what's going on with your current unit so that you understand why you need his service. Thank you for all your tips on lowering my electric bill, saving energy and suggestions that I invest in a new unit instead of repairing the one that I have for the long term return on investment. These guys are great....prompt response and came quickly to solve our problem which was a deeply clogged pipe that caused our kitchen sink to back up. We had called a couple of plumbers before who could not come out for a week but we needed to use our kitchen sink! We are very happy with our new Rinnai RUR98i Tankless Water Heater System! We have the built in recirculation plus the backup battery and the control pad is not in the attic! They were able to fish it downstairs all the way to the ground floor. It is in the perfect location and easy to access and I can change settings easily! Plus the key pad has a lock on it so kids or adults can't accidentally start touching and messing with it. The system has cut down the travel time for hot water to get to the far side of the house and controlling the temperature is so much easier! Plus we can have all 4 showers, a dishwasher and a washer machine all on at the same time with hot water! Amazing! Good install crew and Mr. Patton was so helpful he really wanted to make sure the settings were dialed into where we wanted them. We took out two 50 gallon gas and 40 gallon electric tanks and this has been such an improvement! We are still in the first month and haven't see then new energy bill but it should look great this coming year compared to last! read more
