i got the chicken alfredo with a side of broccoli. i really enjoyed this restaurant as you can see the chef cook right in front of you. they also add cooked off vodka which enriched the pasta sauce. the ambiance was nice with the chef and was modern. only complaint is i wish they added more broccoli and chicken as you need to pay about 3€ more per each topping. so i feel like i didn't get enough of both. however it was still supper yummy and hit the spot! read more

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the pasta and how relatively inexpensive it was! Eating and dining out while traveling can add up, especially when visiting the tourist-heavy areas. All the dishes at Pasta Pasta were reasonably priced. The restaurant is along Ferdinand Bolstraat, between Albert Cuypstraat and Govert Flinckstraat in the De Pijp neighborhood. Nearby attractions include the Heineken Experience, Albert Cuyp Market, and Museumkwartier. There's a Metro station entrance around the corner, as well as a couple tram stops within walking distance. Decor is a bit quirky. A couple long tables at the front, more smaller tables in the back. The menu is prominently posted outside, if you want to take a quick glance before sitting down. I went with the build your own pasta option. You first choose the sauce you want, any optional toppings you want for additional euros, and the type of noodle. It's a bit limited compared to many other Italian restaurants, but they have all the essentials. The tagliatelle was cooked perfectly and the texture was chewy. It paired well with the pomodoro sauce I selected, giving the dish a nice umami flavor. Pasta Pasta doesn't close until 11:00 PM, which feels pretty late to me. But there was one time I was out the whole day sightseeing and didn't arrive back at the hotel until 9:00 PM. So thankful it was still open! read more

We were both very satisfied with our dish and the service. The puttanesca had great overtones of anchovies and capers making it a classic. The vodka sauce was a milder, creamier flavor profile. I was craving pasta while in Europe and I needed to search for a really good pasta spot, even if not in Italy. After our Heineken experience tour, we came here and found this cute shop for lunch! It was a perfect meal and everything we had here was really tasty. I created my own pasta with Alfredo sauce, chicken, spinach, mushroom and chili peppers and best of all, I got the tagliatelle pasta (thick). My bf got the mushroom ravioli which he really liked as well! Our other friends got the tagliatelle salmone, with big pieces of salmon and smoky flavor and another bologonese pasta filled with meat and veggies. Luckily we didn't even have to wait for this restaurant! Prices are very standard and we even wanted to come back here the next day. Definitely recommend this Italian place when in Amsterdam! Pasta dishes had great textures and was perfectly al dente and very fresh but sauce flavors fell short and service was unacceptable. I opted for the carbonara while my boyfriend got the bolognese. I think he enjoyed his pasta more than I enjoyed mine. The carbonara was extra heavy and had a bland salty flavor to it that I couldn't seem to enjoy. I struggled to finish my pasta. One thing I would really recommend is adding chili to your pasta order because it really kicks up the flavor. While ordering, the waitress also asked if we wanted water and without thinking, I said yes. She brought two water bottles to the table and that's when I realized we'd probably have to pay for those waters. Since we had our own water bottle I asked the waitress to take away the waters very soon after. She hesitated and looked around nervously and then claimed that she could not take them back because of sanitation issues and restaurant policy. We had not opened the water bottles much rather touched them so I patiently explained to her that I was not aware we'd be charged for the waters and thought it unreasonable to be spending another €4 for those two bottles of water and emphasized that we had not put a single finger on those water bottles. She stood there and spit attitude at me until I asked for a manager and she finally took them away. All in all, pasta here is very affordable and the pasta itself and cooked to the perfect texture but I wouldn't give them my business again because of the questionable integrity of the workers there. read more

Wow, such a bad experience this time, crap food and very rude and unfriendly staff. Went into the restaurant to order carbonara to take away, after ordering pretty quickly I then had a 35 minute wait while other tables got their food, not being told anything I asked after it and got my food shortly after. When getting home after 2 minutes the food was cold, watery, tasteless and had very little bacon in it for a carbonara. I returned to complain and was met with very rude and unhelpful staff who told me that it was a "normal carbonara" so nothing would be done about it. We came to this place and had high expectations for the pasta. Exactly 1 hour later we walked out furiously from the restaurant because they had still not started cooking our food. At first, placed us in the back near the door where it was cold caused by a light breeze coming from outside. We changed table and sat right in front of the chef. 30 minutes after we came in they took our order. By that time, someone else that came after us had already ordered and been served his plate. 50 min later they let us know that they had forgotten about our order. This was very strange since we were sitting right in front of them, right in their view. We decided to give them another chance, but when another couple that had just arrived received their food before us we just stood up and left. This is undoubtably one of the worst experiences and I would never come back here again. read more

Tasty homemade pasta dishes in a kitchen designed such that the cooking process is transparent for all customers. I ordered the Tagliatelle Salsiccia, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was for such a low price and with simple ingredients. I removed one star because the downside with the open kitchen is the customers can see how messy the cooking space is (a hive of cross-contamination). The interior design decisions also clashed with one another. However, I would still recommend Pasta Pasta for some tasty, relatively inexpensive pasta. read more

Ordered here twice during our stay in Amsterdam. We stayed in this neighborhood (de Pijp) so it was nice to have a quick service type of restaurant in the area that was open pretty late (midnight). Basically, you just choose your sauce, toppings/ingredients and type of pasta. They had a good selection of 12 sauces - everything from basic pomodoro to carbonara to pesto. I tried the funghi (mushrooms, white wine, cream and garlic) with spinach ravioli on one visit and arrabbiata with spinach tagliatelle on another. Both were pretty tasty and satisfying with the other simple ingredients I added. They cook everything to order which is in open view. My boyfriend had the funghi with radiatori pasta, it was slightly bland but not bad. All of their pasta looks to be made on site. Service is decent, nothing memorable, staff just seemed a little aloof. Free WiFi is available as well as plenty of comfortable seating. read more

Prices were alright, portions were good, and the staff was friendly. The place is small, but it was comfortable. The meals came out pretty quickly. I don't remember all the different dishes we tried, but everyone enjoyed their meals and left full. They have Browerij 't Ij beers, so that added some bonus points. This is a great pasta place in the De Pijp area. Fresh pasta made on site, cooked in front of you in their open kitchen. Quick friendly service, fast efficient kitchen, menu includes a selection of beers but no tap water is available. Lots of take out orders too. We tried the meat ravioli with truffled mushroom sauce which was fantastic! Pasta vongole, shaghetti bolognese and shrimp scampi were all very nicely done, flavourful with fresh ingredients (including the seafood). Prices are very good value given the portions size and quality of food served. Tables available outside in the front street area. Highly recommend. read more
