The restaurant is so small that it only has about eight tables and one waiter doing all the work, plus two chefs working in the kitchen. During our time there, lots of people that did not have a reservation were being turned away. We were seated at a table that had a decent view of the kitchen, though trying to get into my seat was a little tight. We started off with a glass of Pinot Grigio white wine, which is basically what we've been drinking at like every restaurant during our trip. This time, rather than sharing a bottle that was at our table, we just had the wine from the glass. After trying out so many different kinds of white wines over the past two weeks, I think I've grown to enjoy them so far. The food here was outstanding and delicious. I had the Pasta Bolognese, my dad had the ham and mushroom pizza, and my mom had the ravioli. The pasta just exploded with flavor in my mouth, including the Bolognese itself. My dad commented that this was one of the best pizzas he's ever had so far, and my mom commented that her ravioli was super flavorful, including the sauce that came with it. We were seated and noticed a large block of hollowed-out parmesan cheese on a butcher-block table. After reviewing the menu, we asked about the cheese. It was for a spaghetti dish that "we wouldn't soon forget." "If we won't forget it, we have to have it," even though spaghetti is not the most adventurous thing to order in an Italian restaurant. The spaghetti is cooked and mixed with tomato sauce, then what I am guessing is hot oil is ignited and dumped into the hollowed out cheese. Then the spaghetti is added and mixed with the melted cheese, removed and served with additional shreds of hard parmesan. The result is nothing short of fantastic and I believe it when I was told Americans return every couple of years or so just to eat this dish. We also had a mozzarella and tomato salad (as if we needed additional cheese) and complimentary green and black olives. Most restaurants here serve Heineken on tap, but this place appears to only have Peroni, which was perfect. We'll be back. It's a small unpretentious place with just a few tables inside and a couple outside but the aroma and music provide a some Italian atmosphere. Most importantly the food is delicious. We had the bruschetta both nights because it was probably the best we've ever had! Being able to choose your favourite (home made) pasta, and pair it with your favourite sauce is a great idea. We're big fans of bolognese sauce which was wonderful on the perfectly cooked pasta. On our second trip I decided to try the lasagna and was not disappointed. Some restaurants will add too much cheese to lasagna which tends to overpower the tomato sauce, but at Ciao Bella they have discovered the perfect balance. There is a good selection of wine given the size of this establishment, so you're bound something to your taste that pairs with your meal. Service is friendly, they're there to please.

We even saw several people asking for better tables and being told no because that part of the restaurant wasn't open. That said . . . once we were seated, we had a great experience. The food was excellent, the view was great, and we were in a bright area facing outside, which was actually perfect for us. One of my daughter's friends has a severe seafood and nut allergy, and the restaurant was very accommodating and attentive to that, which I always appreciate when traveling. Overall, really solid meal and a nice way to wrap up the trip.
