My parents and I have been in Europe for almost two weeks now and I kept thinking that I was in Italy the entire time while at this restaurant, as we did so much traveling. It was within walking distance of the hotel we were staying at, which was a plus. The restaurant is so small that it only has about eight tables and one waiter doing all the work, plus two chefs working in the kitchen. During our time there, lots of people that did not have a reservation were being turned away. We were seated at a table that had a decent view of the kitchen, though trying to get into my seat was a little tight. We started off with a glass of Pinot Grigio white wine, which is basically what we've been drinking at like every restaurant during our trip. This time, rather than sharing a bottle that was at our table, we just had the wine from the glass. After trying out so many different kinds of white wines over the past two weeks, I think I've grown to enjoy them so far. The food here was outstanding and delicious. I had the Pasta Bolognese, my dad had the ham and mushroom pizza, and my mom had the ravioli. The pasta just exploded with flavor in my mouth, including the Bolognese itself. My dad commented that this was one of the best pizzas he's ever had so far, and my mom commented that her ravioli was super flavorful, including the sauce that came with it. We ordered the lobster spaghetti and the veal dish. Both excellent and beautifully presented. For dessert the Tiramisu with vanilla ice cream was delicious and decadent. We were seated and noticed a large block of hollowed-out parmesan cheese on a butcher-block table. After reviewing the menu, we asked about the cheese. It was for a spaghetti dish that "we wouldn't soon forget." "If we won't forget it, we have to have it," even though spaghetti is not the most adventurous thing to order in an Italian restaurant. The spaghetti is cooked and mixed with tomato sauce, then what I am guessing is hot oil is ignited and dumped into the hollowed out cheese. Then the spaghetti is added and mixed with the melted cheese, removed and served with additional shreds of hard parmesan. The result is nothing short of fantastic and I believe it when I was told Americans return every couple of years or so just to eat this dish. We also had a mozzarella and tomato salad (as if we needed additional cheese) and complimentary green and black olives. Most restaurants here serve Heineken on tap, but this place appears to only have Peroni, which was perfect. We'll be back. My friend ordered the Fiordilatte mozzarella (tomato sauce,spicy salami, speadrable spicy sausage, stracciatella Pugliese cheese pizza. It was quite large and 2 of my friends shared that. I stole a bite and the spicy sausage was so good! I wasn't too hungry and ordered the minestrone soup which was so comforting on a cold day. It arrived piping hot and was full of vegetables. He yelled "No get up now. Someone is waiting. Get out and leave." No one was waiting. The restaurant is tiny and you can see from the front to the back. At which point I asked for a manager. He yells I am the manager, get out before I call the police. To which I replied please do so. My friend is disabled and asked him to pass her crutches, which she needs to walk. He said no get out! Yelling in her face as spit flung on her. We were shocked and appalled and laughed. I cannot believe he is allowed to work in service industry. He was rude and evil. I am mortified that he would treat a disabled person this way. Not sure if he was racist, evil, or discriminatory against disabled people. Our party was mixed racially. Very doubtful he is the manager. Someone of his caliber is not capable of running a food truck. Stay away. Focaccia is not home made nor pizza dough. With a soy allergy they did not know if either item had soy as they buy both! Stay away! Too many other Italian restaurants in Amsterdam! It's almost laughable at how ge behaved.
