Flavors An Italian Mom Would Be Proud Of..... This was the 2nd restaurant experience on our European vacation of 2026 celebrating milestone birthdays, anniversaries and other such big deals with another couple/long-time friends from California. It was so good we went back for our 4th and final dinner. - Overall: 5 - Location: 5 (but of course that depends where you are) - Atmosphere: 5 - Menu: 5 - Food Quality: 5 - Food Quantity: 4 - Service: 5 - Staffing of Servers: 3 - Price and Value: 5 Pros: - Location: Convenient to our location (the Ambassade Hotel). But as ads often remind us..."your results may vary" depending on where you're living and/or staying. - Atmosphere: Bright and bustling. Reminded us of a neighborhood Italian restaurant in big US cities. - Menu: Something for everyone. It would be at home in Italy, New York or California. - Food Quality: Great food. Everything we tried we liked. Flavors an Italian mom would be proud of. - Food Quantity: Fine. - Service: Professional yet down to earth, but they seemed to be understaffed for the continued stream of customers. On our 2nd visit, we waited 25 minutes for someone to take our order...then 40 minutes for the food. It was good, but still..... - Price and Value: Reasonable. A bit lower than in the US. Cons: None! Like many restaurants we've found in Italy, customers seem to start their meals by ordering small plates and just kept asking for more. Aside from needing more servers, Casa Di David is great. read more

Here's a clean, natural review you can use: Had a great meal at Casa Di David. The food was delicious from start to finish. I went with the truffle ravioli, flavorful, and perfectly done. My wife had the cacio e pepe, simple but executed really well. Both were very rich, the parm was so fragrant. Great atmosphere and a spot we'd definitely come back to. read more

One of the best Italian foods we had. Friendly staff- great service - wonderful ambiance, especially over looking the canals, if space is available- very accommodating. Sarah waited on us & was very helpful& pleasant. Advance rsvp is suggested. read more

The food (bruschetta & pizza) was really tasty, more than I expected being that we were in Amsterdam. We were happy to see it was open on Christmas Day, as well. Unfortunately, they were having electrical problems and the kitchen couldn't cook. We had wanted the pumpkin ravioli and the veal scallopini, but settled on pizza after more than an hour. Service was a bit spotty, but I don't think this was a fair night to judge. Would love to try it again under better circumstances. read more

Casa Di David - The menu was rolled up, huge, and a bit ridiculous. There are two menus in this photo. The one next to his elbow is the main one. - Italian Near Me - Amsterdam, New Hampshire

One of the worst service experiences of my life. Food was average. The only bright spot was the host, who went out of his way to get me a table, and ended up waiting on me half the time. The rest, however - ruined by the people passing as servers. Not sure if I had an official server. One eventually came by. Ignored me most of the time, but the worst part was that they were all on a headset communication system, and they were obviously chatting and laughing with one another the whole time. No shame or attempt to hide the constant conversation even while AT THE TABLE. And then the servers would look at each other and laugh and continue with whatever fun they were having. Couldn't bother with food or drinks or customers. Disgusting. I had the meatballs (super average, but lots of whole basil leaves for garnish if you like that sort of thing), and a pizza with bresaola and arugula. Also average. Couldn't wait to get out! read more

Wow, amazing Italian restaurant in Amsterdam. My dad and brother were there years ago and recommended highly and they were correct. This is the real deal. The food, service and ambience are excellent. As good as anywhere in Italy. We especially enjoyed our view of the canal from the second story window. read more

Located right on the canal in a two-story historic building with great views from the top floor. Excellent Italian food and attentive, friendly service. Lively spot with small tables (typical in Amsterdam) with lively crowd and vibrant energy. We enjoyed two pizzas, olives and focaccia to start and everything was delicious and fresh! Don't miss out on this gem. read more

This is a bit of a struggle to review, because it's in a beautiful location, wonderfully appointed interior, nice views (from our table), and food was good. I give it a star for the availability of a table on a Friday night by reservations made at noon. The food was pretty good, still worth going, but my knock is feeling rushed and pushed by the wait staff. We eat out a lot in this country and that RARELY happens, if not at all. But this time, I'm surprised they didn't start changing the table clothes while we were still finishing our desert. You can see from the check (photo included) we spent a lot for four people. She was nice, but they definitely wanted to turn this table over, even when there were other 4-seat tables open. Decent prices for the main courses, generally. Not too loud from all the people, so a good evening. read more

Recommeded by our concierge at the W. Did not disappoint. Lovely spot, great location and the food and service were superb! Highly recommend if you love authentic Italian food! read more

It was a Monday night and the place was packed. Do make a reservation, if you can, because they go to the front of the line. We were told 45 minutes but it was only 15 instead. The place is large with 2 levels. Upstairs by the windows and you can gaze down the canal while you dine. Tried a wood oven pizza and a pasta. Both excellent. Our waiter, we forgot to ask his name, has dark hair and has been there 12 years and has a house in Haarlem. He was a personality who cared. You can't fake that. May go there again to try something else as they have a complete menu. Bathroom down narrow stairs to the basement so you may want to empty your bladder ahead of time! read more

Service was quick. Able to get a table without reservations on a busy Sunday night. Food was very tasty. Combination of some basic options as well as unique items. I had the rigatoni with beef tenderloin. Very tasty and good portion of the beef as well. My wife had the lasagna bolognese which was a little dry to start but a side of red sauce definitely improved things. Overall nice atmosphere. Things were like many European places where things are a bit tighter than we are used to in US but not too crowded. Overall a very nice dine for dinner. read more

Great service especially since they were packed! And they squeezed us (party of 3) in on a Friday night without reservations. But if you really want to go, make a rezzie. Food was delicious, pizza was solid but the real stars were the pasta dishes and salads. The tiramisu and limoncello were among the best I've ever had. A recommendation by our taxi driver (who called them and got us in) was a winner. The place was lively and the food and service terrific. Leave room for the tiramisu. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. First, the service was abysmal and it took an eternity to receive our food. The food was terrible, clearly made without any effort, rushed out just to collect payment. Second, it was extremely expensive--so much so that the cost was noticeable. Third, the staff was outright rude, dismissive of our needs, and more interested in their Instagram and TikTok than assisting us. Finally, this is not a genuine Italian restaurant; it's a pretentious, trendy spot failing at authenticity. Frankly, I believe this place should shut down. I am shocked I didn't get food poisoning and end up in the emergency room. I strongly advise against visiting if you want polite staff; it's badly needed. read more

Last time I was there was 1989. Loved that it's still there. The food is AMAZING! The service, not so great. I think they were short staffed. Took a long time to get our check. Wanted check split, the guy struggled with it. The place is loud upstairs where we sat. However, the food is still AMAZING!!! Just be aware of this. Might be a little quieter on the main floor. Will be back again and hopefully it won't be another 38 years! read more

Let's start with there is almost always a line do make reservations or expect to wait. The food is delicious with reasonable prices and good portions , there is a great variety of dishes in both appraisers as well as entrees. The octopus was tasty, firm and plentiful. The amazing item of the night was the meat balls which you must try. They are unbelievable as well as the other dishes. The atmosphere is dark, loud and congested but worth it. The food was comparable to anything I had recently in Italy. The service was slow due primarily to how busy they are, so be patient and have a aperol spritz and relax. You are in for a treat.Dessert is homemade and a wonderful ending to an excellent culinary experience. Go to Netherlands to get great Italian food. Who would guess. read more

Lovely experience. We were fortunate enough to get a table overlooking the canal, which definitely helped! The food was tasty, and reasonably priced for the location. Excellent food and service at this restaurant boy one of the canals in Amsterdam. Our table had appetizers of eggplant and salads. The eggplant was great. It did not seem to be breaded and was very tender. The sauce had a nice flavor. Main dishes were saltimbocca, ossebucco and various pastas. Our waiter was very good. The only downside was that the kitchen (not our waiter) screwed up my wife's order. Her carbonara which was excellent did not come out of the kitchen with the other meals. read more

Casa di David is a classic Italian restaurant from top to bottom. We had a nice pear and parmigiana salad, attempted vodka martinis, and meaty pasta. I, and a nice, fairly priced Chianti. Service was good, kind of aggressive, but appropriate. The first floor dining room is tight, tolerability loud, and perfect. We would definitely return if we had the chance. read more

Perfect authentic Italian food located in Amsterdam. This place is charming with wine bottles along the walls and a large chain of garlic above your head. The menus arrive to the tables as scrolls. They take reservations and I highly recommend making one as we were there in a Wednesday and the place was jammed packed. Everything was delicious. The truffle pasta was perfect. Just enough truffle. The antipasto is actually a sampler of all their appetizers. Which is a fun reimagined take on antipasto. read more

Delicious food and great service in charming canal side location. Reservations recommended as this place gets busy.

Excellent service and food!! Wait staff so helpful and warm and made you feel at home!

A romantic place for dinner. The ambiance was really cozy. Although they charged for the tap water and bread, it was still a good experience. Try the pasta Fresca and the Lambrusco. Waiters and staff were friendly and really attentive. Definitely a must when you are visiting Amsterdam! read more

Food, service and great warm Italian atmosphere. My favorite restaurant in Amsterdam.

Unexpectedly one of the best Italian dining spots near Museumplein. The menu is filled with authentic Italian items: artisan pizza, pasta, salad. And when I say authentic, it truly is! Made fresh right when you order it. The view upstairs is phenomenal as well. It overlooks a picturesque view of an Amsterdam canal. Our charcuterie appetizer board was fantastic! It had Gouda, burrata, and a variety of other cheeses I couldn't identify. It was paired with fig jam, salami, and prosciutto ham. Our pizza also had freshly grated Parmesan with that same prosciutto ham. Highly recommend read more

Cute wood filled restaurant with views of a small canal. We had a reservation and were seated right away. We were upstairs. The tables are pretty close together. But it wasn't too loud of a place. The menus are an odd rolled up large paper. Interesting idea but not the most practical. The food was quite good. The bruschetta was nice and olive oily on warm toasted bread. Good fresh tomato. The minestrone was different than expected but good and full of vegetables. The pasta were both delicious and a nice portion. The spaghetti aglio e olio was so good. Very garlicky and spicy (the Spanish peppers made this dish). The spaghetti amatriciana was rich and spicy. The tiramisu was okay. We will definitely e back for the pastas. Yum! Service was good. read more
