Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. Amazing Italian food, it's easy to miss but so worth it. Service: As some have said the service is a little slow but I took it more as relaxing. This is one of those restaurants that you go to for the "dining experience". Not an in and out rushed kind of establishment, your truly "dining" and enjoying the moment kind of a place. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgable of the menu offering us great suggestions. Food: Some of the best Italian food I've had in a long time. From start to finish everything was out of this world. -To start the burrata and tomato was very fresh and tasty. Some of the best burrata surprisingly, I didn't imagine Amsterdam would be known for this Italian treat when all of their cheeses usually offered are hard. The olive oil dressing to match was great, I have burrata & tomato salads all of the time but this one blew me away....maybe I was just hungry from all the walking but that's not the point, give it a try. My main dish: pesto pasta. Great! Super flavorful and the green beans mixed in was a treat. I honestly stuffed my face, the serving size is large but it's too good to just eat half. I'd highly recommend this dish as I saw many also ordered it. The ravioli was good as well, I stole a bit from the table. Pricing is reasonable given its a nicer restaurant in the area with great quality food. This place is a true Italian dining experience, I'd highly recommend this place for a romantic dinner or just simply to impress your guests with a hidden gem. read more

We loved what we got. Girlfriend got the eggplant, I had a homemade pasta dish. Girlfriend has strange hot bone for the attractive waiters so this review may be biased. Suddlenly, my stomach said "pasta sounds good". So I went with it and just happened to be near the restaurant an aquaintance of mine said he was going to try out later on that evening. It wasn't busy when I went in so I had my choice of tables in either of two rooms. The first room was standard with bare tables, chairs and booths along with the service bar and a view of the kitchen. The other room was much nicer with white table linens, candles and wine glasses already set and ready to be used. I chose the simpler format and took a table by the window so I could watch the world go by while I had my pasta. I was served warmed bread with olive oil while I examined the menu. The waitress explained the menu and told me what the specials of the day were. I really only wanted a nice large plate of spaghetti with a bolognes sauce but it was nowhere to be found on the menu. I settled for the spaghetti with clams. The clams were lil bitty clams still in their shells awaiting my attack. Now, I'm no gourmet but it seemed to me the pasta was a little undercooked for my taste. Overall, the dish seemed a bit salty. Maybe I was expecting too much. The service was good and somewhat attentive though not overly. When the waitress came to take my empty plate I surprised her and ordered a scroppino to cap the meal. That seemed to take longer than I expected to arrive. It was okay when compared with the best I've had. Overall, I was pleased with the experience but I didn't leave satisfied as I wanted more. Truly authentic, right down to the staff (continually rotating in from southern Italy. Exactly what you would expect to find in a local Naples experience. Delicious pasta and fantastic wines. I was hangering for Italian food especially a simple tomatoe base spaghetti and this place hit the spot. Great food and great service. My dish on the menu came with penne pasta but had them switch to spaghetti noodles. It was so fresh and delicious. My husband had the paparrella pasta dish with meat sauce. We are here for a large annual convention so feeding and watering clients is always part of the event. My job is to set up the venue and this is one of my favorites. One of the quieter places important when talking to clients is part of the purpose, great service always, great bar which always a good idea and you can count on the food being tasty. An additional benefit is the extensive menu offering lots of choices so everyone can find something they like. The place on the medium/small side but very comfortable, friendly, so what's not to like, I recommend that you try it. Note the sign as you enter- no pizza, also note several steps up to the entrance if that's an issue. read more

This was one of the best Italian meals I have ever eaten. The prices were incredibly reasonable, and the location is away from the main tourist areas but still close to the center of the city. I had the Arrabiatta and it was delicious. Great wine selection. Expect the food to take a while as they believe in the slow serving method that is more traditionally Italian. Thank you Eef for recommending this restaurant while we were visiting Amsterdam. We had two great meals here -- loved the pasta with the veal ragu -- and Bob had a fantastic steak. The pasta is fresh -- we had the artichoke ravioli one night -- the atmosphere is fun and the service is fantastic. This is authentic Italian cuisine in a cute space served quickly by efficient servers. I usually base the authenticity of an Italian restaurant by it's Ragu Bolognese. This Bolognese here was slammin' and so was the Puttanesca! Great people watching location too! Very good food. My wife and I usually check Yelp when we go to a new city. After a very long travel day we we're just too tired to do even that. We walked around the area looking at menus. When we looked here, an English lady walked out of the restaurant and said "the risotto was excellent". We went in, I ordered the risotto, and she was right. There was no soup on the menu, so I asked. They had a fish soup. Wow. Again, excellent. Great flavors and aromas. It included calamari, mussels, and other fish. Service was good, casual atmosphere. Spied the Caprese while out on a walk and decided to try it for dinner tonight and it was just what we were looking for. We visited this popular little restaurant on a weeknight. It is a small, privately run, -a real Italian restaurant with a simple but complete menu. Great wine list and freshly made desserts as well. I ordered the Pasta Arrabiata and my husband had the Penne with Prosciutto, both cooked al dente, done just perfectly. The sauces were rich in flavor and texture, and just the right amount of sauce was added to the pasta. Very ample portions, very good service and more than fair prices. This restaurant was a delight to visit and I'm only sorry that we don't have a restaurant like this in our own neighborhood. read more

After reading the good reviews, I decided to have a dinner with my girlfriend at Trattoria Caprese. After so many fake Italian restaurant I was surprised about the service we got. The atmosphere was nice and quiet, and the waiters were friendly, clean and professional. We ordered Linguine al Ragu` and Linguine agli Scampi as first course, and the were delicious. The only thing to point out, is that we asked if the Scampi was already cutted and removed from the shell, and It` wasn`t. Panna Cotta and Tortino al Cioccolato were also delicious. We made reservations here on a Saturday, but walking in, it looked like we didn't need to. The bread and pesto that they brought out was really tasty and a good indication of what was to come! We started with the antipasto misto, with salami, burrata, roasted onions and tomatoes. It was more than enough for two people. For an entree, I had the spaghetti with mussels and tomato, while my boyfriend had the filet with white risotto. The spaghetti was really good (I'm still trying to find a recipe so that I can make it back home!) and the white risotto was to die for! I may go back and just order a side of it! Yummy! I was heading to another spot but saw risotto on the menu and it sounded really good! Unfortunately I didn't like it. Very flavorless, which is odd given it's probably half cheese! I didn't like my green salad or wine either. Salad was mostly all arugula and in big pieces, hard to eat and not much flavor on the dressing or salad at all.
