I felt uncomfortable so I ordered another dish which wasn't memorable enough for me to remember. We also ordered an appetizer that he forgot so we ditched that idea. A great little hole in the wall. My wife and I shared the greek salad, the brochette and the spaghetti bolognese. Everything was delicious, and the portions were big enough so we didn't walk away hungry. We had the house white. and I took home a Tiramisu to eat later in our hotel room. read more

Stopped here based off the good reviews and found the food to be good. It's a father and son duo running the restaurant. They recommended the bread with garlic butter which is definitely worth trying. We also got a margherita pizza (do not recommend) and spaghetti carbonara. read more

Tatsächlich waren wir von den 7 hauchdünn geschnitten Baguettescheiben und der Faden Knoblauchcreme sehr enttäuscht.. Das Essen an sich war in Ordnung aber auch nicht weltbewegend. The folks that run this place are very nice. It is a small little Italian restaurant near centra station. That being said, the pizza is not great. Pepperoni so spicy the taste is all heat. Crust not yeasty from wheat flower, easily soggy, tomato sauce that tastes acidic out of a can. You can do better. Pricing is very fair but time to up your game read more

Last night in Amsterdam and after a long day (2-day trip tours on buses) so we wanted something close to our hotel. Saw this on Yelp & decided to give it a try... we were so glad we did!! Italian steak, as well as pizza & pasta. My husband said he liked that the person who cooked the meal, served the meal at our table. And we tried the garlic bread as recommended by another review, it was excellent as promised! We got a bottle of Chianti, each had a pasta dish & split the apple pie for dessert. Close to Damrak & Centraal Station hotels (if you have a day tour, it's close to where the busses drop you off). Friendly w/good food, music and the game was on TV for those keeping an eye on the soccer match. Happily recommend Ava Cyril. read more

When we went here in the first week of last December, it was frigidly cold. Even at noon, when we searched for a cozy lunch spot, it was literally freezing. Ava Cyril perfectly fit the description of a cozy lunch location! The moment you peer in their front window, you crave Chianti and some nice hot pasta. As you walk in the tiny door, you know that you chose correctly. We sat by the front table nearest the cash register and promptly ordered that Chianti! How nice to watch the shivering people run through their errands from a warm spot (knowing that it will be you in the cold soon enough...). We saw a young American mother come in with two children. All were very well attended to. The server was quite accomodating with the meal splitting, and need for extra plates. It's good to see a cold, jet-lagged family treated kindly. In a country without voluntary (performance based) tipping, no less! For our part, we ordered the sauteéd mushrooms and bread to begin with, both of which were delicious. Entreés were the salmon pasta for me and the meat spaghetti for my dining companion. The spaghetti, I am told, was very good but not particularly special. Luckily for me, the salmon pasta was pretty special! I recommend it. Unfortunately, our extravagant dining left no room to try their desserts. You will have to go and to try for yourself! read more

Nothing short of a 5 star restaurant. Honestly, if I could give more, I would. Everything we ordered was perfect. My girlfriend and I came here on a whim on my birthday for some italian food. May I say, what a hidden gem we found. Cheesy garlic bread was great and fresh (and I dont even eat garlic bread), absolute steal on the mixed grill (they give you full serving size of chicken, steak, and sparerib for 17€ !!!!), we also ordered a mozzarella pizza which was perfectly cooked and a decent size for one. We also ordered an apple pie slice for dessert which was absolutely perfect and the crust was unbelievable. They put sparklers on the dessert as a nice surprise for my birthday too! We were in Amsterdam for a business conference and extended the stay to tour the city. We found this restaurant the first night we were there - and went back three times over the next week. It may be small - but its a hidden gem. Best garlic bread in Amsterdam! I told the chef/owner (not sure which) that I thought it was the best Italian restaurant in Amsterdam (ok, not fair, since I hadn't gone to that many) his response was that it wasn't - but that they cooked everything they made with "love". The small kitchen is in full view of the tables and you can see how carefully they make their food. It was all good (and I DO go to Italian restaurants whenever I travel). It may not be fancy. But it's small, friendly, and yes - the food is wonderful. The walls are covered with notes written on coasters from others who think so too. read more

I had the spicy Spaghetti Bolognese and I didn't expect it to be spicy (it wasn't), but still great. The menu doesn't do the restaurant justice.
