This place has great reviews so we decided to try for dinner. We walked in at 7pm on a Thursday and were able to be seated right away. They do not have a GF menu but the server indicated most items can be made GF. We each tried some of their suggested wine and I ended up having a glass of the moscato. They brought bread with tomatoes to the table and they even had GF bread. I ordered GF spaghetti and my friend had their special - GF lamb ragu. Both dishes were fantastic! Good restaurant with great Italian food. I had the truffle Parmesan pasta, which was delicious. I did not get the 3 course tasting menu. By far the best overall restaurant experience in Amsterdam. Great homemade Italian cuisine and atmosphere. Seating is quite comfortable with space unlike most European restaurants. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Authentic menu. Highly recommend their house speciality of Tagliolini Al Parmiagiano which is made in a large cheese wheel of Parmesan cheese. Cooked in front of you the delicious homemade noodles are quite delightful. Most people around us ordered that. We had four of the deserts which were excellent as well. The caprese salad was a nice twist on a classic. I highly recommend this place based on flavor, ambiance, price and staff. Not to be missed. Prices were some of the most affordable I've seen. After walking around in the rain a bit, I was craving Italian and ended up here at Impero Romano. My meal started with the typical bread with oil and vinegar but the vinegar had a very distinct taste that was a pleasant change from the standard vinegar. I couldn't resist the seafood linguini per the menu description. And it did not disappoint. It was a delight with a hearty portion of octopus, shrimp, and mussels. The service was great and the atmosphere was peaceful and romantic. The set menu looked appealing as well and a return visit is due to try! Since we were celebrating my birthday my friend wanted to make sure we'd have a memorable dining experience. He decided on Impero Romano and I can tell you now that I'm honestly unsure if I've ever had any better pasta prior to this in my entire life. We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday evening. We didn't have a reservation and were asked to sit at the bar until a table became available. After a 15 minute minute wait we were informed one had. I'd suggest reserving a table in advance however, since the party after us were told it be over an hour until another table would become available. The restaurant is beautiful decorated. Neutral tones in a dimly lit environment give this Italian restaurant a rustic feel, while soft music and candle lit tables make this a guaranteed venue to celebrate any meaningful milestone. We were able to bring the drinks we had order at the bar to our tables and given some time to look over the menu before ordering. We both decided to go with the antipasto imperiale which was the restaurants signature pasta dish. A burrata topped with truffle, it's heated within a cheese wheel to coat the pasta in entirety. The finalized product was the perfect combination of pasta, truffle, cheese, and roast beef carpaccio that still has me dreaming about the dish as I write this review. I cannot recommend it ENOUGH. The service we received here was also outstanding. From the beginning to the end the waitstaff made sure we were enjoying our meals. They provided recommendations and allowed us to eat without being too overbearing. All in all an awesome experience! I'd recommend this to anyone celebrating a special occasion or if you're just in the mood to have a pasta dish that sure to knock your socks off. read more

We wandered in Thursday evening starving after taking a red eye from the east coast of US. We had been searching for a nice Italian restaurant. Impero Romano didn't disappoint. Today we had a dinner for 3 at Impero Romano. We heard a lot of great stories about this place, so we went to experience this ourselfs. The cheesewheel with the pasta should be like the "experience" but due to understaffing it was not possible.. that actually made the experience that we've hoped for a little less. The pasta was amazing though. The quality was exquisite. The dessert on the other hand was a little blunt. The Tiramisu and the Panna cotta were tasteless not like you would expect from a place like this. The overall ambiance was fine as well. For now this was a good option but I would not consider to visit it anytime soon. read more

This place is really that good. Service was a little slow but it was a Monday and I was trying to chill with my girlfriend. At the same time, everybody I interacted with approached our service with care and hospitality. They were cool, not overbearing at all - and made really noteworthy recommendations. We ordered the burrata as an antipasto 10/10, the truffle tag pasta 9/10 and gnocchi 8/10 as an entree. We're from New York and it was really really nice to have a nice Italian dinner away, because that's usually hard for us in the states and other countries. Great experience. Took my wife here for anniversary on advice from a local and couldn't have been more pleased. The highlights: spaghetti pasta tossed in a cheese wheel with sprinkled truffles and shaved Parmesan. Best pasta I have ever had. We had a 5 course tasting prix fix. We could have just ordered one and split it because the portions were large. Price was very reasonable. Service was pretty good. At times we had to wait and as a result the experience was 3 hours.
