After a full day of sightseeing, art museum & tours, we wanted to wind down the evening in a casual, comfortable cafe with comfort food vibes. Pompa, a recommendation from our Hotel Concierge, fit the bill and was within walking distance of our Hotel. https://lisaefreedman.com/pompa-a-hidden-gem-in-amsterdams-evolving-food-scene/

The ambience is really nice too. It was a great day out, so I sat outside, which I am so happy that I did. The service was great. My server made sure to be very attended at my table, and I got my glass of wine and food fairly quickly. The menu changes often but that day, I had the truffle pasta. The pasta was soooo good!

    Pasta Bolognese ....

Return visit for Pasta Bolognese. Pasta Carbonara was a 101% Bolognese was a 100%. How do you go wrong. If ever in Amsterdam again dinner is covered. Business practice was terrible regarding a Wine opening.. lost a customer and now review changed to 1 star ...

This restaurant has been decorated so beautifully for Christmas! Cute and quaint interior. We sat at a window and enjoyed watching the world go by. The service and fast and the food delicious! We would recommend Pompa for a speedy, delicious lunch!

0/10 recommend, The servers were extremely rude and the food was terrible. Do not come here if you want to enjoy your meal.

Service was terrible clearly young arrogant people working here. Also the food is mediocre at best and portions will leave you hungry

Pasta was really good and sandwiches are nice. Service is fast and efficient. Cozy restaurant close to the museum and shopping. Upstairs has some nice views to the canal.

    Tomato soup and burrata sandwich

This was such a cute little restaurant! We were just walking by and decided to pop in. The tomato soup was fantastic, and the service was quick and kind. However, the burrata sandwich was pretty hard and just okay. I'd probably skip it next time--unless I'm ducking in to escape the rain and craving some soup.

    Pasta Gamberi

De bonnes pâtes, bien cuites, mais peut-être meilleures pour beaucoup si elles ne sont pas al dente ! Le goût est assez bon et les saveurs sont subtiles. Les gambas sont bien préparées. Un bon plat dans l'ensemble !

Had this place saved for my visit to Amsterdam and it did not disappoint. Even though it was busy when I walked in, got seated in their downstairs area and ordered a Chardonnay and the seafood pasta which was delicious. So glad I had the chance to check this place out.

My wife and I stopped by Pompa our first night in Amsterdam and we were very impressed! Quaint little tapas place in the museum district, quiet when we went which we love. Our first course was manchego cheese, Serrano ham, bread and olives, and lamb lollipops. Every bite was simply delicious, but the lamb was the star of the show! So tender and lean and savory, when the course was done there were only bones left. The bread was freshly baked, crusty and warm, and served with olives & fresh aioli. We were still hungry so we got a few more plates. Lamb kebabs (suggested by the waitress), calamari, and more bread & olives (because I love fresh bread!) again, we loved every bite! My wife washed everything down with a couple glasses of chilled Spumante while I had Heineken (Amsterdam after all). Service was excellent. It was pretty empty but the place is quite small so I got the sense it would be the same regardless. Like most European service it was attentive without being overbearing. They want you to enjoy your meal and the experience without having to answer a ton of "how is everything" questions. We ate at probably a dozen places during our trip and Pompa was hands down our favorite.

Combination plate! Everything was good but small portion for the price.

Overall really tasty! Some plates were a miss but we just miss ordered (don't get a panini if you can have the delish pasta), walked right in and got seated and the employees were very nice. Cute place and fun to go with family or friends. I recommend the penne funghi (it was everyone at the tables favorite!)

We did notice a slight price increase based on the way they've changed up the tasting menu offerings since our last visit, but we still had a special occasion meal with a €55 bottle of wine for €180 total for 2 people. To me, that is very affordable for such a nice meal. What we really love is that the menu is changed drastically each time we visit, so we get to try different items and have a new experience each time. The tasting menu options are very affordable as tasting menus go! Our favorites this time were the mussels as well as the tomatoes with dijon ice cream (yes!). For me, the beef cheek was not so nice. But that's what is great about the tasting menu... there are enough samplings to leave full, even if you skip one or two items or leave a bit of food behind (not that my hubby didn't finish everything I did not!). We are leaving the Netherlands this month back to NYC, and this is one of the restaurants we will miss the most! We know we can get a meal of this caliber, but not at this price, in New York!

I followed it up with Dim Sum and it's Japanese equivalent. For people back home in the 506 that's dumplings or "des dough boy". I don't usually have dessert but after having the best dim sum of my life I chose some salted caramel ice cream rig that almost killed me with joy. We came in with a massive group and the staff was more than happy to help us out and cater to our needs. Getting a refill on our drinks was the only thing which took time but it wasn't unreasonable. For vegetarian stuff the green peppers were great as usual, but make sure to put salt on them. The tomatoes are also really tasty and patatas brava of course. The mushrooms were a little ordinary though. The paella looked really good and tasted so according to others even though I didn't try it. Fish, meat or vegetarian. All good. We tried a few different things like grilled sardines, patatas bravas, lamb chops, olives, stuffed eggs, chicken, gamba's pil pil. Everything was so yummy! This place really knows quality. I loved it, especially the lamb chops and the gamba's. Everything was for a fair price as well. If you order 2 dishes a person with your party (dishes will be like 6,50) and start of with some bread and olives, have about 2 drink it will cost you like like 22 each. Not much! I will certainly come back and try more veggie dishes next time because they looked great as well.

Our waiter so sweet and was as attentive as he possibly could be given the chaos of the evening. Every table was full and the kitchen was working their butt off. I'll summarize each course: Bread and Butter: Amazing and we managed to finish the whole loaf by our 3rd course. Mackerel with Kale: This was tasty, especially the crispy roasted Kale Potato with Eel: The sauce was very flavorful, but there was only 2 small pieces of eel. Halibut with Fermented Mushroom: I enjoyed this, the halibut was so buttery and creamy. Deer with Cauliflower: I've never had deer before, but this was dIfficult to cut through. It was cooked medium rare and had a very slight gamey taste, but still good. The cauliflower had roasted macadamia nuts on top that was to die for. Cheese Plate: The server dropped this off without explaining what was on the plate. I'm guessing it was Brie, Bleu and some other hard cheese. I don't know what the other two dipping jams were, but they were good. Prickly Pear Sorbet Dessert: The presentation was beautiful, but I felt like there were too many flavors going on to really enjoy it. Envy is best reserved for a special occasion and I would definitely come back for a regular dinner to try their traditional tasting menu.
