Make rezo! Our dining experience for 5 course tasting was pretty darn impressive! It's dark inside and the layout is one long alley. Pork belly amuse bouche was so perfect.as well as the iberico ham and other seafood courses. The entire party must order. Last bottle of Sancerre was snagged, so we chose a bottle of Sauv Blanc. Dinner ran approx $80 pp, including service. Truly not bad at all!

I can't say this place is a hidden gem because it's always popping. Very busy. Tables are always full. You won't be able to get a table just walking in. Reservations are a must. But I got lucky and was given a table at the hightop area. I had to sit pretty close to people but I'll take that for some amazing bites. The restaurant was located right next to my hotel, The Andaz. Walking by, I took a look at the menu and instantly decided this is what I wanted to eat for dinner. They weren't open for lunch but their staff could be seen through the windows already prepping for their busy nights. The restaurant is long and narrow but could seat many. Their menu wasn't small or big. Everything looked delicious. From the appetizers we ordered, down to the tapas small plates, everything was a hit. For around $50/person, we actually did get full! We started off with cold cuts - iberico ham and bread. Then tried a few other dishes paired with wine. We tasted their pork belly, beef tartare, pigeon, scallops, and short rib. EVERY dish was small but hit all the right taste buds. Definitely shareable. Just writing my review is making my mouth water. That's how good the meal was! The staff were impeccable. They provided new plates and silverware on each round. They cleaned the table tops and made sure they were watching your glass. Due to the small seating area I was given, I had to hold my winter cold the entire time but other than that, I was very pleased with this restaurant on my trip!

The Seven Deadly Sins were inscribed on the front door. Greed. Lust. Gluttony. Envy. Wrath. Pride. Sloth. It was ominous that I was going to commit a cardinal sin that night. But what would it be? Could it be lust? No, definitely not. Those tall, blonde, slim and gorgeous Dutch girls aren't my type. So what sin would that be? The cardinal sin that I was ready to commit that night was probably gluttony. But I wonder who would be committing the sin of envy. It wouldn't be you, would it? You wouldn't be envious that I'm dining in a Michelin rated restaurant halfway around the World in Amsterdam - in a restaurant called Envy - would you? No, I trust that you wouldn't. So let's take a look at my sins that night: Prosciutto di Parma: The menu claimed that they have been aged 16 months and I believe them. It was very flavorful but not overly salty. Just like fine wine, they were gentle to the palate. Dutch sausage with black pepper: The quality of the meat was good and it was not as chewy as I thought it would be. With the aroma of various herbs and a hint of black pepper, the flavor was rich but subtle. Carpaccio of roasted scallop with cream of peas and daikon: This was the shining star of the evening. The thinly sliced scallops were so perfect in both texture and taste. The flavor of this dish was complex, with the sweetness of the peas and daikon contrasting the richness of the scallops. Lacquered sea bass with pearl couscous: This is another dish with a complex flavor. The sea bass filet was so well lacquered that it had a shiny and tasty glaze. Topped with a nice serving of exotic enokitake mushrooms and pearl couscous, this dish offers a creative fusion with an Asian and Mediterranean twist. Braised beef cheeks with burrata and young vegetables: To many foodies, beef cheeks are some of the best cuts of beef for stews. And the cheeks here were amazing - melt-in-the-mouth was almost an understatement. Paired with fresh burrata - an Italian cream cheese made with mozzarella - it's a match made in foodie heaven. Greed. Lust. Gluttony. Envy. Wrath. Pride. Sloth. Which sin did you just commit?

This is one of my all-time favorite meals, and I've been to a lot of fabulous restaurants. The restaurant has several Michelin-starred chefs doing very creative dishes. We had a half dozen or so small plates, an Amuse Bouche, along with wine and beer. The flavors of each dish were so amazing, ingredients were very fresh and unique with a lovely presentation. The dishes were a bit on the high side and we ended up spending much more than we had intended, but given it was one of the best meals of my life, it was worth every Euro!

Amazing! Seriously this place is a total find for a refined palette. Before you even sit you are greeted with a amuse bouche, but order at least entrees as they are more like tapas (small plates). Everything is beautiful and unique, and a great break from the normal brassseries and street vendors. Just check the pictures!

We were running a little bit late to our reservation because our flight got delayed some how we manage to get to the place because somebody had highly recommended it to us. We had to try our luck. Even though the kitchen was already closing we talked to the manager and explain our situation he spoke with the chef and he was very nice and understandable and agreed to cook for us. We try the set menu even though I don't eat row food or eat non cow cheese I decided to give it a try because of the nice gesture of the chef and manager to let us in. I'm sure that if I had told them in advance of my poor taste for food they would had fixed me something else but I just didn't want to bother them even more. My husband enjoyed everything they gave us and I enjoyed the dishes that I eat. They have a pretty good wine selection too. We will definitely will be back to Amsterdam and we will definitely will come back to Envy.

I came to Envy for the first time five years ago, and my second time paled significantly in comparison. Perhaps it was my naïveté that led me to be impressed with my meal, or perhaps Envy's standards has dropped significantly since then. I got the 8-course meal, which is a series of small plates meant to be playful, farm to table, with a slight modernist twist. For most of the dishes, the execution never really lived up to its appearance or description. Most of the dishes suffered from a lack of contrasting textures - there was a lot of foams and purees and gels, but not so much crisp and crunch to carry that flavor. I had an overcooked fish dish and a perfectly cooked one, very unappetizing looking white asparagus yet a colorfully plated beet dish. Which reminds me - beets were key features in two back to back dishes and that did not strike me as a very thoughtful multi-course experience. Service got exceedingly slower and slower as the restaurant filled up, and our last three dishes were spaced about 20 minutes apart - which is a while, for things that could be put away in a couple of bites. I hated the last few dishes for that reason because all I wanted to do was get up and leave. Be warned.

Review summary: The five-star restaurant where you can expect a gastronomy experience of both flavor and texture with whimsicality (molecular gastronomy) and importantly in peccable service and attention to detail. Compared to similar experiences in New York City very good value for the money! Drop ins are rare so better plan ahead. As previous reviewer's have noted it is a very trendy hip modern decor. The amuze bouche for the evening was a pair of muscle ceviche which of been fairly well Blanche following their cooking process of removing any fishing this flavor and leading a nice delicate texture. This was paired on the side of the coconut curry soup which was fantastically well executed! (As good as any Thai place I have been!). That being said two dishes did not hear very well together due to the different acidity flavor profiles (muscles very delicate flavor wow the coconut curry was robust and strong). Rating: 5/5 First course was steak tartare: The beef had been put through very smallest meat grinder setting and mixed nicely with herbs served with hot peppers and sour cream. There was a slight "gamey" aftertaste. Rating: 4/5 For the second course we go to molecular gastronomy with a combination of potato and dehydrated Evoo - The potatoes were full of flavor as they have been sold first and then smoke on the grill all sitting on a bed of puréed rosted shallots. Fantastic this all in all. Rating 5/5 Third course was a pan seared whitefish (but without crispy skin) served on top of the cauliflower purée, blueberries, and mixed berry compote. The berries were very overpowering versus the whitefish making the dish less successful. Rating: 3/5 The next course was a slow cooked beef served with a jue reduction of beef+port and sunchoke purée on the side. The beef was well prepared but the star of the dish with the sunchoke purée and the reduction! Once again the beef had a very gamey taste... rating: 4/5 The first dessert this evening was a whimsical mocha and a coda here with the hazelnut croquant powder and a foie gras ice cream - overall very whimsical and delicious - Great balance of sweet and savory ! Rating: 5/5 The second the third was all about texture and acidity versus sweetness: mix of yogurt yogurt ice cream and crumbles of chocolate, Caramell puff rice and popcorn. Another fantastic mixture of flavors and texture. Rating: 5/5

Then on King's Day, I passed this little cute spot and reminded myself to be back here. And we made it. 3 course dinner tasting menu. The difference starts with truffle butter served bread. :)) 1st course: Quinoa salad. A good balance and not too light to begin with. Dressing is made to perfect - Vinaigrette, foam and olive oil are all of best amount. Four little dishes. Mushroom Soup, beef tartar, salmon roll and gambas. Beautifully presented. We particularly like the soup as it is probably most the longly cooked dish of all night. Time tell darling! 2nd dish is grilled mackerel with mushroom, overcooked rice in eggwhite foam. I claim I can't handle eggs, but the ingredient here tastes heaven. Dutch do love mackerel. 3rd course goes to the beef. No shame to deny this is our favourite. They display the steak as a rabbit, with pumpkin puree as the ears. Okay, it does not look that cruel. Trust me. The sauce was sweet and yet savoury, not sure if they played with soy sauce. Highlight for sure. We then had the cheese board and one friend went for dessert.

I had a light dinner at Envy during my trip to Amsterdam in October. This place is all about small plates and tapa style menu. I had foie gras, jamon iberico, pork belly and their bread with truffle mayo sauce. On the scale of 5. Atmosphere: 5 - Excellent The restaurant has both regular table that you probably need to reserve in advance as well as open bar-like tables. All of it surrounded by huge fridges where you can see different kind of cured meats on display. Food: 4 - Very good Menu is very interesting and elegant. The foie gras with orange sauce was probably the most interesting variation I've tried so far. Pork belly, on other side, wasn't cooked that well. It was slightly chewy and I didn't feel this is the best I've tried, especially for the price. Drinks: - I had wine, it was decent and the selection is ok, but I don't think they serve any signature cocktails there. Price: 4 - Very Good It's expensive fine dinning place. The price was on point for a such establishment. Service: 5 - Great Service was really good and food came out relatively fast.

The food here is Amazing. It's definitely on the pricey side, consider each dishes is quite small, if you order 4-5 dishes for each person, it'll be 50-65 euro per person. Not including drink. Besides the price, everything else is great! Love the modern trendy decoration, the chef greeted us right after we walked into the restaurant and gave us a small glass of tomato (or some vegetable) purée while we were waiting to be seated. The food here is really fresh and flavorful, some combination here are quite unique and unexpected. The presentation and the plating is awesome. When we were struggled which dessert to order (because they all looked amazing) the chef decided to make something new to surprised us. A wonderful experience! Highly recommended.

How can I describe the magic that is Envy! Upon entering you are greeted by smiling Chefs with an open kitchen creating all sort of deliciousness! After a small aperitif we were taking to a looong table in amongst other diners providing a unique convivial atmosphere. We the order the tasting menu which was to die for a series of small bites all thoughtfully made to engage all of the senses! Non pretentious, good food with smiles for miles what's not to like! If in Amsterdam go there and treat yourself! You won't regret it!

After a full day walking through Amsterdam, we went for a dinner at Envy using a bongo-card we had received before (this bongo-card is a dinner voucher, which entitles you to a 4 course dinner where you only have to pay for your drinks). We thought this was a great opportunity to try Envy :) I really liked the way the place is decorated and regarding the food I can be very brief: it was just delicious!!! Unfortunately, there were two things that bothered me in the service during the evening: * After I received my wine I found it to be quite chilly, while the wine my wife had was at normal temperature. After telling our waitress about this, she told me that she could get me another glass, but that probably would have the same temperature. She advised me to just warm it up with my hands.... Fortunately, after some time she got back to me and brought me another glass and told me she put the wine in a warm glass. The result was that the temperature of the wine was a lot better. So I was really happy with this solution! * When visiting the toilet, I had to wait because it was occupied. After the person got out of the toilet, he went straight back to the employee part without washing his hands. Was a bit shocked about seeing this and started appreciating the sign they have in the US at pretty much all businesses: Employees MUST wash their hands before returning to work... Not sure what exactly the job of this guy was, but fortunately he was not standing in the open kitchen :)

We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!
