This restaurant, The Lobby, was located in our hotel. We tried because the reviews looked good, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked scrumptious. We arrived rather late in the dinner service this evening so they were not able to offer us appetizers. The cocktails we ordered were pretty standard, a gin martini and a Bullet Bourbon and Coke Zero. They were good, nothing special. What WAS special was the entree of guinea foul, olive polenta, broad beans, jalapeno and a delicious mystery sauce. We shared the dish because of the late hour. It was savory, juicy and delicious. Well done! The staff were attentive and friendly. Enjoy The Lobby!
Excellent food and service. We came on a Monday night without reservations and was lucky to score a table. Staff was friendly and explained the dishes and I opted for the 3 course dinner. Started with the Pork belly appetizer. PB was tender and juicy and just the right amount for appies. Dw had the beef tartar which was topped with cheese (i think). The beef wasn't gamey and was very fresh. For the main I had the braised beef cheek. Omf! was tender and moist. I savored every bite. Lastly, I had the creme brulee which I was a large portion but hey I ain't gonna complain on that. Dw had the duck breast with roasted veggies which she said was amazingly good. Dessert was a deconstructed cheese cake (never had before) which was fun and was balanced full of flavors. I would highly recommend Lobby Nesplein!
Wonderful restaurant - delicious food, friendly service, great atmosphere. Really rustic, cozy feeling. All the food was a hit with the family! My daughter ordered the duck and ate everything! The lamb special was cooked perfect, seasoned well. The starters my husband had, the salmon was delectable and the avocado cream was tasty, though rich (probably best to share with a friend). My son ordered the pizza and ate 90% of it and loved it. The bread is served warm with pickled onions that I couldn't seem to get enough of. Sprinkle the salt on the butter bread and you're in heaven. Yum!!!

With rich hollandaise, and a soft bread on the bottom, I was quite satisfied. The brother got a dish with fried eggs and bacon and a special toast that tasted like multigrain bread on the bottom - also delish. Overall, I was impressed with the kind service and ease of ordering in English as well as the food! Would go again.
This place was amazing. 4.5 Stars for me. They welcomed our party of 9 for a last minute restaurant change reservation over the phone. I found them off of yelp. Thank goodness for yelp. The ambiance was beautiful. Upon getting here the host immediately said Hi Loren. Wow! We got seated, our drinks were ordered. Our menu was given. The group decided to order the Pre fix menu except for one person who didn't want the dessert. So 39 £ ($46 U.S.)for appetizer, main entree, and dessert was a deal. For those that wanted the chicken appetizer and wanted a langoustine (tiny baby bite size lobster) add 5£ more. I came here off of Yelp pictures of the food and although they changed the menu the food did not disappoint. This was my Birthday celebration and of course I didn't tell the staff that I think my husband did. He said their conversation went somewhat like this , "ok we are going to write for her happy birthday and what is her age?", "my husband said are you kidding me? You don't write how old a women's age is. We all Had a good laugh when he told us. Our group ordered multiple cocktails, wine, after dinner drinks so it ended up about 70£ ($85 ) pp. Although tipping isn't customary in Europe it's greatly appreciated and it's nothing at all like the U.S. standard of tipping. Just an appreciation amount. Anyway, a strong Yay to come here.

The outdoor patio is very large and included great cover for hot days or light rain. I cannot recall the names of the dishes we had but everything looked fantastic. I'd visit again anytime.

It is situated below a hotel and the inside has a dark and modern decor with a more romantic atmosphere. The menu is modern Dutch or european that isn't too long but has a good variety of options. I started with a glass of red wine for which the waiter brought the bottle over and allowed me to taste it first. The wine was lovely! We also got a bowl of bread with butter and delicious little pickled onions. For appetizers, we ordered the herring and the trout. They did an interesting take on the herring which was over some kind of potatoes. It was delicious. The trout was raw and served with some small greens and pickles made into spheres. The presentation was stunning and it tasted incredible. We also got oysters which was one of their specials which we enjoyed. For our entrees, we had the red fish (snapper) and the hake. Both were cooked perfectly. The snapper came with white asparagus, and the hake was over a purée and beans. Both were very unique takes on Dutch food. Lastly we ordered their special apple tart dessert which had an apple cake with apple sorbet and caramel. It was wonderful! The Lobby was a delicious stop during our trip and I would definitely return!

My family and I visited Amsterdam, and this restaurant did not disappoint. Very elegant fine dining experience. It is in the lobby hotel, and when you walk into the hotel it's directly to your left. The service was amazing, everyone was very friendly. We had Rose as our server, she was very personable and gave great recommendations about the menu. My family and I got the fish special, the flat iron steak, the mussels, and the crème brûlée. Would highly recommend all of these dishes, they were delicious! Would recommend this place if you are visiting Amsterdam. Great restaurant for family dinners or a date night! read more
Came here just for breakfast. The interior is spacious and elegant. The breakfast menu is a bit limited in my opinion, but still good. I got the Croque Madame which was yummy. Service was fine. I have no complaints about this place, but it was nothing mind-blowing. read more

If you're visiting Amsterdam this place is a must! I will warn you that their portions are not large! The plates are unique the ambiance is just delightful the service is great in spite of being a little slow. Their apple dessert was delicious read more
Looking for a cozy dinner spot with friends or a date? This is the place to go! :) This place is hidden in Hotel V and the interior is really great - BEST part: the fireplace with a very cozy couch! They even have a world globe with of course a lot of booze in it...! First I had the main course: - Skit steak with braised beef cheek, smoked potato puree which was great! Thereafter the chocolate mouse was amazing with crunchy coffee crumble and clove ice cream. The atmosphere was great with pretty packed for a monday evenining and the service was awesome - you don't need to try to catch the eye of the waiter, because he is almost always there when you need him. Last but not least: the cocktails! After dinner drinks were great where I have chosen the Caipirinha which was a bit strong, but good though! And the amazing Gin & Tonic! ps. totally agree with one of the reviews here - you don't notice that it is a normal restaurant :) read more

Perfect place for breakfast. We all ordered Benedicts our first time there and the chef made us complementary pancakes so we could have a taste of everything. My second breakfast there was the egg whites with spinach and spelt bread, so delicious! Service is great, prices are perfect, and the food is fantastic! Will definitely be back when I come back to Amsterdam. read more

I highly recommend to make a reservation beforehand because it took me 2 days to get a table for 4 for lunch time. The Lobby has a very cozy atmosphere and it's pretty spacious compared to most restaurants/cafés in Amsterdam. The staff are nice but would be better if the service was faster. In terms of food, I would give a 4.5/5. My poached eggs were made just fine, the English muffin was crunchy on the outside and soft inside, and the salmon tasted fresh. I was a little disappointed when I didn't get the bear art on my latte (saw it on other reviews), whereas my friend got a smirk face (I could tell it was a fail attempt). The price's pretty reasonable. read more

This was the only place open for breakfast on Sunday when we landed at 7am. I got an eggs Benedict and my boyfriend got the salmon and eggs. Portions were larger than expected and kept us full all day! A little overpriced as to be expected from a hotel restaurant but nonetheless very yummy! read more

Good food and really nice "village" like location off the main streets in Amsterdam central. The service staff are a bit not accustomed to having small children as I think they mostly get adult parties since it's located on the first floor of a boutique hotel. Nonetheless the food is good and the ambience and decor is something you should try out if you visit Amsterdam. read more

The Lobby is a restaurant part of Hotel V. Usually I'm not too fond of restaurants in hotels, but this is one is different. Let me first praise the interior of both restaurant The Lobby and Hotel V. If you are looking for a well designed and a cozy public environment... Go to this place. For a restaurant in Amsterdam, this is as cozy as you can get. It's warm. Has lot's of (rustic) wood. Intimate. Book cases. Steel tableware items. We had lunch at The Lobby. I would give 4 stars for the food. It's good. No fuss. Hamburger was good, but also not that special. Oysters were fresh. Flammkuchen of the day (with brie, wallnuts and abricots) was also good. It's rare to have flammkuchen in Amsterdam (I think)... but very well executed. Together with the friendly staff and the atmosphere as described earlier... I would have to lift the rating up to 5 stars! read more
Love the appetizer chicken. Beef tartar was good too. Main course lamb was just ok. Didn't feel special and was a bit smelt. The sausage was great. Tha main course duck was good but a bit salty. The desert ice cream with puff was not really good. The puff was too sweet and no texture. Ice cream shape was bad and melting but my family loves it. Last year I had bone which was awesome - too bad they took it off menu this year. read more

Had brunch here... Delicious. Being from the States, I have pretty high standards for breakfast food and this is the best place I've found in Europe. There was a little bit of everything on the menu. Pancakes, yogurt, eggs... I ordered the Eggs Royale and they were incredible. Probably the best smoked salmon I've had in my life. Someone else ordered the smoked salmon scramble (delicious) and someone else ordered one of the yogurts (also delicious) Next time I would try the American pancakes ;) great place for brunch and great friendly staff! read more

I don't see any reason why not giving them a 5 stars. I was really well taken care of, meaning the service was great when we compare with the almost always terrible service you get at the restaurants/bars in the very touristic areas. The staff was always very friendly and kind and the lobby had really a gezelig atmosphere. It always amazes me how Dutch people like to go for brunch and just sit there and read their newspaper. This is a very nice place to do so and also just if you want to have something nice to eat. Try It out, you won't regret :) read more

Delicious. Great service. Upscale food with fair portions,and a great value. I have a career history in fine dining and this is the best balance I have found for creative dishes, an approachable presentation, a touch of elegance, at a reasonable price point. The interior is hip, and welcoming. This is the type of place you may find yourself visiting once a week or more. read more
