Thouroughly enjoyed our visit here on April 6. We rang the doorbell and Iago the bartender greeted us, letting us choose where to sit--we chose the bar because we like getting to know the bartender and watching them do their mixology. We ordered beef bitterballen to try this traditional Dutch comfort food. Meanwhile, my husband ordered their signature cocktail called "Beurre Noisette" old fashioned and I ordered a Dutch Negroni (Negronis are my favorite drink to order wherever I go). Both were delicious! Meanwhile, we chatted with Iago the bartender, and Lily the manager. We learned more about Amsterdam and why so many people come here from elsewhere in Europe to work. Iago was super fun to talk to. He'd lived in Amsterdam for 7 years and It was only his first week here at NJoy. He was skilled as a bartender, being able to mix fabulous cocktails and also hold an interesting conversation at the same time. We'd go back just to be able to talk with him again, such a friendly bartender, very attentive, and professional. The beef bitterballen was so hot we had to wait a bit to try it. It comes with savory mustard that is better than any mustard I've tried before. Not sure why. The bitterballen were crispy fried with beef ragú inside. I'm not a fan myself but am glad I tried it. NJoy is elegant and romantic and cozy. There's another bar downstairs with a disco ball above. It would be fantastic to host a celebration event here. Their cocktails are memorable! We had an amazing experience here lastnight. Me and my lady were searching for a speakeasy after leaving the red Light District and funny enough there was one right by the hotel that made worrying about getting home sauced not that much of an issue. From the moment our lovley host greeted us at the door we were treated as family. The bar is not very big and i did hear them mention other floors but we were firmly planted on what appears to be the 2nd floor front and center at the bar. My first drink was the Bossa Nova an amazing drink with egg white in it seeing the bartender crack that egg into the mixing cup my stomach started turning but once the cocktail came together and it was presented in front of me I was amazed the taste was perfect and the foam on top was quite thick and had a bittersweet to it. My next drink was the La-di-da Bandita also an amazing drink with many great flavors and very fresh ingredients. As the night was winding down and the bartender was getting ready to head out he slipped us 2 shots and given the name "Pink Pussy" I knew i was going to like this drink almost as much as the real thing even though the real thing was gonna be coming home with me. One of the highlights of my first trip to Amsterdam recently. Stopped after spending the day at the Museumplein and what a treat. Small, intimate space that was just the right amount of warm and cozy on a cold rainy evening. The menu of drinks is extensive and very creative. Ordered the "Sean Connery" and the "Forbidden Fruits" to start. Wonderful. Next round was "Honey I'm home" and the "Lollipop". Finished the night with an "Envy Me". Gigi our bartender was a delight. Wow wow wow, I loveeeeeeee this place. Firstly, I believe this cocktail bar is on a college bar row or something?? Accidentally went to one bar nearby and realized all college students. This is a elevate sophisticated and upscale cocktail bar kind of wedged between all of them, as well as a bunch of restaurants. The ambiance is amazing, it is absolutely beautiful inside, and OF COURSE the cocktails are out of this world. Literally, best one I've ever had. They have an extensive and tasteful menu. So many options and so many good ideas. My friend and I had dessert cocktails. I had the Gigi which was white chocolate flavored with cinnamon and a little orange. It was the best thing I've ever drank. I wish I were kidding. We're coming back tonight to try some more options (or maybe get the same thing again??? Probably because I don't know how I'll live without it in my life). They also have small bar bites which look phenomenal, but we didn't get the opportunity to try as we came right from dinner. Only thing is the waiter was quite abrasive when we walked in, demanding to see IDs, and not being professional or warm whatsoever. I believe this has to do with the college scene around the bar. We tried to look past this. My friend was almost positive she heard the same waiter tell the group next door to us that this was a nice restaurant, and questioning their outfits (jeans and a T-shirt) when they were already inside ordering. After scaling the red light district and only coming across bars, we finally found a speakeasy tucked away far from the red light district. Waking by we only saw the name and was greater with "hello sexy people, please come in". That was more than enough to pull me in. This place is very small and intimate and all of the staff were very attentive. The place also smelled soo good like a sexy fragrance. To drink I ordered a frozen drink, the combustible zombie which had 4 different rum, absinthe, passion fruit and grapefruit. This drink when I sipped it, didn't taste like alcohol at all but it it was so delicious. I felt I couldn't walk away without trying another drink, so I ordered Pandora's passion, another well crafted drink with egg white which I wouldn't have thought would enhance a drink beyond the deliciousness it already had. Through looking at yelp reviews, this was a must stop on my week trip to Amsterdam. We got here right after a rain storm but were allowed in and sat quickly by the bar. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the nice server we had brought over napkins to us telling us we needed to dry off a bit. It was done in a friendly yet passive and snobby way... our drinks were super strong, creative and flavorful. I really enjoyed them. The hostess at the front was friendly, did coat check too. We walked around for quite a bit before settling down at this place. The entry door was a bit small, and we didn't even know if anyone was inside or not. Once we got in, the hostess ushered us downstairs to the back where we sat at a booth. The place is quite cozy. It's probably better for groups of 4 or less. The menu is hilarious, in the best possible way! It's got quotes that just makes your day! I ordered a drink called "A team"(?) it's got absinth, licorice and other spices. It's a little on the sweet side, but it's quite nice! The other drinks that my friends ordered looked equally gorgeous and tasty. I did see someone with a flaming drink. I will have to do that next time! If you order gin & tonic. They will give you a glass of the gin + ice and give you a bottle of tonic so you can add it into the glass itself. read more

The cocktails are separated by "personality" on the menu. I had two from the dreamers sections. I had a C&S Delight and another fruity vodka drink that I can't remember the name of and they were both top notch. Hidden in the middle of the touristic chaos, Njoy is a very nice lounge cocktail bar. To enter, you have to ring a bell and wait for someone to open the door for you: you are the guests in here! (but don't make any mistake, you will still be presented with a bill at the end!) Then either you sit at the ground level, or you go downstairs - the latter is more cosy in my opinion. It's a typical lounge atmosphere with comfy bench seats, dimmed lights, beautiful flowers. Nice. The menu is super extensive, seriously, you have to find something you'll like. It's organized in a bit of a weird way and it always takes a bit of time to go through it to make a choice. Ask the waiters to help you, they know what they're serving quite well! Or just go for the BEST.COCKTAIL.IN.THE.WORLD (drum roll please) : THE LEMON MERENGUE! Seriously, this cocktail (which isn't on the menu anymore, but they'll do it anyway) is to die for! It is always quite a good cocktail but at Njoy they take it to a totally different level. Trust me. Just order it. And then thank me :) They also have snacks, but I've never tried those. A great spot. I was looking for a good cocktail and after a disappointing experience at Suzy Wong, went to this place. The bartenders were great, very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly -- we talked about what kinds of drinks I like and they made some great, classic ones that were off the menu. I really liked them all, but particularly the Mr. President with rum and vermouth (and more) which was kind of like a rum old fashioned or Manhattan, and one I forget the name of with brandy and fresh fruit where he lit the brandy on fire. It smelled very strong thanks to fire, but tasted really smooth and delicious. He even suggested other cocktail bars to check out next. Nice cozy, modern vibe too.
