    Wonderful cocktails

We LOVE this joint! Eclectic, chill, original, comfortable and noteworthy! Fantastically attentive, welcoming and knowledgeable service! Bar snack menu was a great accompaniment to the fantastic cocktails! The music selection was THE BEST I have experienced in three times to Amsterdam! You will remember this place!

This review is a long time coming! My fiancé and I were in Amsterdam celebrating our anniversary last year. Cocktail bars are one of favorite things to do and we researched and found Tales & Spirits. When we arrived we were seated at a table right away as there were no bar seats open. Within a few minutes bar seats opened up so we asked our server if we could move. Let's face it, the best seat at a cocktails bar is at the bar to watch the drinks be made and talk with the mixologist. Easy round of our drinks were delicious and I loved the little spin on some of them coming out with props. One came out with a car and that was an awesome touch. The mixologists were friendly and really passionate about the drinks they were making. Whenever we are back in Amsterdam we will definitely come back here!

Literally one of my favorite bar experiences of my life! The drinks were inspired and the bartenders were super friendly. I had the 'what if' drink and the zombie drink. Both were excellent cocktails! I wish I could have gone back multiple times during my trip. It was absolutely amazing! Definitely make it a point to stop by here! My absolute favorite stop of my trip

What an amazing find!! We stop by here after reading a few Yelp reviews and were so glad we did! As soon as we entered, and was greeted to take our jackets, we knew this was a special place. It seems like every employee here was just happy to serve us, no matter if it was taking our drink order, just stopping by the table to make sure everything was OK, or just stopping by to chit chat. We completely felt like we were an everyday local here. The drinks we amazing...our table had everything from a Dirty Gin Martini, a Manhattan, a Drop of Art, a General Lee and a Vodka Martini... All equally tasty and made perfectly. No matter what server took our order, they all were very knowledgeable is cocktails and the menu. We also had a few small bites; the Jalapeño Poppers, the Chicken Bites, and the Cheese Plate. Over all, we had a great evening of cocktails and small bites, in an amazing cocktail bar, with friendly and knowledgeable staff that really made our day!

We were welcomed by a delightful host who doubled as our waiter. I'd say about half of the customers were eating and half were having drinks. They have a policy to not allow people to sit at the bar. There are no barstools, and we didn't see anyone standing by the bar, only seated at tables. That being said, the menu did say that they would make exceptions to allow for standing room drinkers, possibly for later in the evening. It seemed to us like the place does a good job managing this, as the place was packed but not overcrowded. Back to the menu. It was long, with plentiful options. It wasn't the best organized menu, other than the specific old fashioned section that immediately caught my husband's eye. The drink names are all puns, some movie or pop culture based and some just general. It was funny, but it wasn't as clear as being separated by a time period or variety of alcohol like I've seen at other upscale cocktail bars. But they all seemed pretty tantalizing once you found your choice. My husband ordered the Charlie Brown, a peanut old fashioned, while I had the What about Bob, a gin and egg white concoction. Both were delicious. The reason I give them 5 stars was my husband's next drink. He went off menu and asked if they'd make a simple Manhattan. Our waiter asked specifically about bourbon or rye, dry or sweet, and what garnish he wanted. Above and beyond for a bartender, let alone a waiter. Well done T&S! We'll definitely be back if and when we return to Amsterdam.

Energetic atmosphere. Craft, only begins to describe the drinks, we just told them to make us what they wanted and were never disappointed. There is a lot of R and D going into these drinks and these guys may need a liver donation. We loved it!

Speakeasy much ? This bar is amazing!! You're first greeted by the boss who takes your jackets and brings you to your table. We had a great server who came up to us and explained each drink because they had stories behind each cocktail drink, just one page dedicated to the types of OLD FASHIONS MY FAV! Of course first drink was an old fashion and it was served right with a big square block of ice and a beautiful orange peel. With every drink you buy you get a bottle of water, because they don't want you getting sick and to stay hydrated. As my night went on we noticed this drink called the muerta which was deathly, so strong that you could only order 2 per person. It was 6 types of liquor mixed with flower peddles served in a skull mug. Upstairs bathroom is full of love quotes and inspirational ones for women with cute paintings on the wall. The couple beside us decided to "Dine& dash" we had no idea as we were having so much fun we didn't even notice. The boss caught the couple thank god. This place isn't cheap so keep that mind, each muerta was 18 euros.

When in Amsterdam this is definitely a bar I highly recommend. It's like a great American bar nestled in the heart of Amsterdam. Drinks and food are just delicious. So good we came back 3x that week.

Gets a little crowded. Sits in a centuries old building. Outside seating available (at least in the summer). Space is small, vintage, antiqued, but relaxed. Cocktails are served in creative vessels. Menu is vast, filled with classics and experimentals. Drinks were delicious. Service is quick and friendly.

Basically was like um yea it just has spices in it. Spices may not be gluten free and could be of concern for a celiac. I asked him if any drinks were gluten free and he said all but 2. I wasn't confident that the drinks would be made separately from the non- gluten drinks so I opted not to get one. My friend got the bees knees and said it was really tasty. The server did come back and switch my water to regular at the end but he should have been upfront with what he gave to prevent any exposure to peoples allergies.

The decor was very nice as well. I didn't try any food there. Now it comes to the important part of the review. It's all about the cocktails. I got the Beeswax Old Fashioned(17 Euros). It was very good and a nice twist on an old fashioned. My second drink was the Paradiso Manhattan(17 Euros) and it was a tasty cocktail with something extra. It came with a piece of chocolate that was made with mushroom powder. They paired well together. I can't give it five stars for one reason. The drinks were very good, but they were a little weak. I felt very little to nothing after my second drink. I'm not a big drinker and I have a low tolerance for alcohol. The drinks need to be a little stronger. More of a kick to them. I would still recommend Super Lyan to anyone that has the pleasure of visiting Amsterdam on holiday.

Carlota who answered the doorbell, was able to accommodate us at the bar (our preferred seating anyway). She took our coats, placed them in the coat closet up front and led us inside. Once seated, we were given gorgeous ruby red complimentary aperitif (hibiscus, honey, ginger). The drink menu is interesting, based on the concept of growing up, with more basic tastes to start and more mature complex tastes later on in life. (The drinks are more complex the later in the menu). I ordered the Awake at Last, and my husband ordered the Ruby Stone. Mine was sweet and coffee flavored and his was more tart and sour cherry flavored. When I tried his drink, I immediately felt nostalgic because it reminded me of umeboshi (pickled plum in Japanese food), so we ended up trading drinks. Both were great for supping. Sitting at the bar was fun, watching the bartender at his work. He was silent, focused, skilled, professional. So glad we checked it out! I didn't post pictures of the entrance or inside because I'll leave it to you to discover! (The fun of a speakeasy).

We were going on a boat tour that afternoon, to see all the light installations, so we made sure the timing was right to get to Pulitzer's on time! We had a 6:00 reservation, and got there promptly and found the door that we were to enter. The door was locked, but there was a sign that said 'please wait, someone will be with you soon'. Our wait was very short, and someone promptly came, greeted us and took us to our seats at the bar. Because a reservation, I believe is required, (not 200% about that), we were wondering if it would be a bit stuffy. It was not at all, everyone that we spoke to was very friendly, and great service at the bar. There were other couch settings and a few different set ups, but as usual, we love the bar. Our drinks were fabulous and we tried three of their menu items- only have appetizers, but they were very good. In talking to my sister and her husband, after we returned home, who had just been to Amsterdam, I realized that they stayed at the Pulitzer hotel, which we did not know when we were there. They loved the hotel - so I can give a recommendation for that as well. They said all the rooms are different and they really loved their room. I think everyone would really enjoy a stay at the Pulitzer hotel and definitely get a reservation to Pulitzer's bar- you won't be disappointed.

The rooms read like a cabinet of curiosities: intimate, storyful, quietly romantic. The team centers Dutch spirits, especially genever, and treats the menu as a narrative rather than a list of brands. Seasonal themes frame the drinks by flavor profile and history, and even the snacks stay in character, with simple Dutch-leaning bites that support what's in the glass instead of competing with it. The craft is serious. Most of the cocktails look disarmingly plain in the glass. No umbrellas, no edible terrariums, no theatrics for their own sake. Then you take a sip and the bouquet opens in layers, and the mid palate carries on a long arc that rewards attention. It is the rare bar where you keep drinking more slowly because the drink keeps revealing itself. The menu is a pleasure to read on its own, the kind you can happily peruse between sips as you decide whether to follow the thread of genever, lean into a vermouth frame, or chase something herbal and saline. Service is warm and informed without hovering, which suits the room's scale and keeps the experience personal. Practicalities shape the vibe in a good way. It is small and seating-only, which preserves the hush. Entry skews first-come, and the crowd trends grown-up and conversation-forward rather than boisterous. Taken together, it adds up to a bar with a clear voice and a point of view: unassuming appearances, rigorous composition, deep roots in Dutch tradition. If you love elegant, sophisticated and distinctive cocktails, this is a destination.
