    All good at Paseo.
    Tim B.

Hands-down the busiest tennis center in the Valley for decades. When the Prudhomme family took over the City contract to operate this public tennis center some 25 years ago, no one beyond the family had a similar vision of fruition. Now, as a mecca for competitive and recreational tennis, you might think the family would put their feet up and rest. Hardly. They garnered support to build more courts and put in a sports bar, making it an entertainment tennis destination. Where is the ping pong table? Let's have a beer and play! High school championships - here. Junior college championships - here. This is tip of the iceberg in respect to who they bring in and service here. The entire city benefits from the domino effect of tax revenue initiated and brought in by the Prudhommes. And, truly it's a family venture. An always expanding family at that. NOTE: read my other numerous reviews for tips, entertainment, and historic references. Thank you, Tim B.

In the footwear department, the associate was also very helpful and quickly assisted me with getting the correct boot size and box. Unfortunately, our experience changed at checkout. The cashier, an older woman, had a noticeably different attitude. I won't go into every detail, but her tone came across as sarcastic and unwelcoming. Despite being polite and respectful throughout the interaction, it felt like she wanted to rush us out. My wife and I both left feeling uncomfortable, and we couldn't help but feel that the treatment may have been influenced by our ethnicity. That's not something I take lightly, but the difference in behavior was hard to ignore. I'm sharing this feedback for management because the front-end experience matters just as much as the rest of the store. I hope more attention is given to how customers are treated at checkout so others don't leave feeling the same way we did.

Cleat Sports has always been our go to place. We always try to support smaller local businesses and this place is exactly that. Excellent customer service every time (there has been many). They also support local sports teams and that is important to us. The prices are always great. The sale racks are always loaded with great deals and often times we've found items that are very comparable if not cheaper then the larger competitors. The atmosphere is very relaxed and I've never been in without a kind greeting and knowledgeable employee helping us. There is even a guy they work with to restring gloves. It does take a little bit of time but it's worth the time at a great price. The new location is great. Much more space. If I had more money I would spend much of it at Cleat Sports. Hey Yelp Friends! I was in town for the Easter weekend. I…read moreforgot to bring my shoes for pickle ball. I love Big 5! They did not disappoint. I always have such great luck with service and selection. And... prices!!! This trip was no different except my salesman. He was awesome! He was a bit camera shy, but oh so helpful and sweet. Anyways, I walked in asked for the best selection for the court in my size and he showed me the shoes. I was browsing the sale table. I always find something and yes! I found the same shoe in my size on the clearance table with an additional 20% off because they were returned. They were clean and the bottoms were mildly used. I also found a reduced price sandal for $10 brand new in my size. Score! I ended up wearing them all day. Played pickle ball, had a blast, and my feet were comfortable. I will always go to Big 5!!! They are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and not pushy, and they have the best prices!! Always checkout the sale table. Check it out for kids and adults.

The store honored the lower price without a problem. Big 5 is smaller than Dick's Sporting Goods. They still manage to carry a decent selection of sporting goods, camping gear, and other gifts. Sporting goods includes fishing. Prices are all over the place. There are usually sales going on. Both times I ended up purchasing shoes. The "super saver" price coupled with the coupon I printed from their website was a fantastic deal. Many items that are found in store are not listed on their website. I was looking for a skateboard for my son. The website only indicated one option. In store there were more than a dozen different boards. Same went for skate shoes. Only one was shown on the website, but there were several pairs to chose from in store.

My experience at this store was extremely disappointing today…read more My son had received a fitted hat as a gift from a friend for his bday. The tags were on, and it was in the Just for Sports bag. Unfortunately, the hat didn't fit. So we went in and asked if we could do an even exchange for a larger size. The first employee told us it wasn't a problem and helped my son locate the correct size. All good. We took the new hat over to the cashier (a different employee) and we were informed that exchanges were not allowed without an original receipt or the original credit card used. Clearly, I don't know how they paid for the hat. Regardless: Store shopping bag All original Tags Zero help. Lesson here: do NOT buy gifts at this store. Something as simple as even exchange is impossible unless the original purchaser is present with a receipt or credit card used. So now my son has a $41.99 hat (plus tax!) that will sit on his shelf but will never be worn. Pathetic, poor business practices in my opinion.

I asked an employee if there was an end-cap of 9mm ammunition and he told me that there wasn't. I commented that their shelves had that empty Covid look, and he told me that they hadn't restocked the shelves yet. I wiped the dusty metal shelf, showed him the significant dust my hand picked up, and looked him in the eye. He knew he'd been caught lying, but insisted that morning deliveries hadn't been put out.yet. I commented that he should wear a mask if there was that much dust in their ventilation. Going to the gun counter, there was one employee behind the counter and more than a dozen people waiting to be helped. There is premium ammunition behind the counter, but it's far enough away that you can't read the brand name. Judging by the number of people waiting to be helped, I'm not standing idly for an hour or two to ask what ammunition brands they have. Nowhere else in the store is there 14-15 people waiting to be helped -- and there's inky two sales clerks working the firearms counter. You'd think that store management would add people in firearm sales, as I've had precisely the same experience of actually waiting more than an hour to find out if they carry a certain product needed the next day at a training event. I have no idea what this store is doing. Neither do they.
