Initially pretty empty but filled up pretty quickly as the evening went on. We ordered: Black Truffle Steak Tartar - Was not quite what I was expecting. Overall good but much sweeter then I would prefer. Brioche was exceptional! Short Ribs - Was hard for me to decide between this and pork shank / lamb. Plated on some beans with some veggies and a sauce. Very good. Carne Asada - Cooked very well. Meat had a great taste. Wasn't a big fan of the fondue. Rajas con Crema - Wasn't quite sure what this would be. Was hoping for a cream corned texture but was more corn in a sauce. Bit sour for my taste. Tres Quesos Mac & Cheese - Kiddo enjoyed. My wife made dinner reservations here for my birthday after I had mentioned I had been wanting to try Paseo. From having looked at online pictures and reading some reviews we were pretty excited about it but unfortunately our experience wasn't so great. Upon checking in for our reservation, we were told to head upstairs and wait for our table to be ready and we were sat fairly quickly. On the way to the table, the host was unaware of the gap he'd created, practically leaving my toddler and I in the dust, rather than actually guiding us to our table. As he set the menus down he mentioned he saw there was a birthday and that we'd be able to get a dessert on the house at the end if we chose to have one. The restaurant felt pretty warm and seemed like the ac wasn't running very high, which wasn't pleasant considering the heat outside. Our server, Alejandro came by the table shortly after being seated and asked to take the table's drink order and put in a starter, even though it was just me sitting since my wife and toddler went to the restroom. Common sense would've been to offer water and come back when the rest of the table was seated. Like I mentioned before, it felt quite warm inside and the ice water provided melted right away and was not cold at all. We decided to order some drinks, a starter, and our toddler's food before ordering our entrees. Our drinks came out right away and we put in the rest of our order while we waited for the appetizer and toddler meal. Unfortunately, all our food came out at the same time and our appetizer never even made it out. The food actually came out so fast after we ordered it that it gave me the feeling that it wasn't even made to order but rather plated from pre made food that was already sitting in the kitchen. To top it off, it wasn't till about halfway through our meal that our waiter came out to apologize about the starter not coming out. I think he thought that by apologizing and admitting to having ordered it under another table, that it wasn't a big deal, since he seemed to be downplaying what happened. Didn't offer an alternative or tell a manager about the mistake, which is standard in the food industry. The restaurant wasn't busy at all since it was an early dinner, otherwise I'd have understood the hiccup. Not ensuring that a starter comes out first along with a toddler's meal, which we specifically asked to come out before the rest of the food, is not acceptable and shouldn't be downplayed or laughed off. The food did taste great and had lots of flavor but I still question the freshness. The tortillas that came out with my meal were pretty hard and not very warm. The cherry on top was the dessert. We didn't come here for a free meal or dessert but if someone says it complimentary, we expect not to be charged for it. We got billed for a $15 dessert and then they only discounted $10. Visited Paseo on a Friday night, with a reservation for 4 people. The host was nice when we arrived, we checked in and probably less than 5 minutes later, we received a text informing us our table was ready. We were escorted to our table and our server was Jon/John (not sure of spelling lol) and he was great! He was really nice to explain some of the menu to us and show us how the little lamp worked on the table because he saw how fascinated we were by it LOL Overall, the food was very good. The pork and beef dishes we ordered were SO TENDER - you know it's good when the meat falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. My only thing that didn't sit right with me was the grilled octopus dish we had. It had some flavor but it tasted more burnt than grilled for me. That is the reason for minus one star. Five stars all around. We came to Paseo for brunch on February 1 and it was a great experience from start to finish. The food was excellent. I had the Paseo burger and it was amazing. Great flavor fluffy bun quality cheese and perfectly cooked meat. One of those burgers you keep thinking about after you leave. We also ordered the carne asada tacos and they were really good. Super flavorful rich and well put together. Chips and salsa were fresh and hit the spot. The kids meals were a win too. The kids waffles and kids eggs were both a hit and they cleaned their plates which says a lot. The restaurant itself was very clean including the bathrooms. Seating was comfortable and the overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming. Huge shoutout to our server Heidi. She was fantastic and really made the experience. Friendly fast attentive and genuinely kind. She checked in at all the right times and kept everything moving smoothly. We made reservations for dinner and sat inside, but the doors were wide open, so we had a great view of downtown. Or server was so nice and made some great recommendations. Food was awesome! The cochinita pibil, mayan ceviche and the queso fundido were amazing. The pulpo is a non-negotiable--so so good. Everything else was great. The Salmon Pate really "reeled" me in! Beautiful restaurant with nice staff that's family friendly. They have a kids menu and high chairs. Food however took forever to come out and everything comes out at once. Salmon Pate- This was our favorite of the night. The flavor was incredible, though my only complaint is that it only comes with two small pieces of brioche. You might find yourself wanting more bread for that delicious pate! Overlooking Downtown Disney, Paseo is an upscale Latin-food experience. The ambiance is classy and on-theme. The two things that stood out to me the most were 1. the excellent, above-par service from every one we interacted with and 2. the guacamole and chips appetizer was some of the best I've ever tasted (and I was born and raised in SoCal). The prices were a bit steep ($$$), and I didn't feel like the food was next-level enough to match them. My wife and I went to Downtown Disney in search of a new place to celebrate our 11-year anniversary. We decided to check out "Paseo." From the menu, it seemed like an authentic Oaxaca, Mexico-inspired experience. Unfortunately, before we even entered the restaurant, the experience started off poorly. The hostess was too busy on her personal device to acknowledge us when we walked up to request a table for two. When we politely asked if a booth was available, she immediately rolled her eyes and said, "I'll ask, but you're not going to get it." I was shocked and immediately felt unwelcome. She told us to wait five minutes and then switched places with a young male host who was also focused on his personal device. I received a text notification that our table was ready and informed him, but he seemed confused and didn't know what I was talking about. I walked upstairs and saw the original hostess gossiping with another hostess while both were still on their phones. At that point, I couldn't help but think, "Wow, they're good at multitasking." We were finally seated in what appeared to be a nearly empty restaurant with several open booths, yet we were placed outside with very limited lighting. The restaurant itself, however, is beautiful and thoughtfully designed. Thankfully, our waiter, RUDY, completely changed the experience. He was lively, welcoming, and genuinely happy to have us in his section. He was attentive throughout the evening. At one point, I noticed my water glass was dirty, and he immediately replaced it and apologized without hesitation. Since it was our first visit, I went all in with the ordering. For starters, we shared the guacamole and chips, which were amazing. The freshly made guacamole was smooth and flavorful, and the chips were crisp, lightly salted, and perfectly prepared. We also ordered a chicken Caesar salad (no tomatoes, as they traditionally don't belong in a Caesar salad). The salad was fresh and rich in flavor. The chicken wasn't grilled but nicely roasted--crispy on the outside and tender inside. Next came the aguachile, and unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment of the night. It lacked a proper sauce, the serrano peppers were pickled, and the entire dish tasted overwhelmingly of pickled juice. Aguachile and ceviche should highlight fresh acidity and spice--not pickled flavors. After one bite, I knew I couldn't continue and sent it back. My wife's chicken enchiladas arrived next. She said they were fine--not her favorite, but not terrible either. In fact, she mentioned she would probably order another Caesar salad instead next time. Then came the tlayuda--OMG! It was overwhelmingly delicious. The pork, chorizo, and asada danced together perfectly, while the beans and sauces complemented every bite. It was easily one of the highlights of the evening. Finally, the dish I was most excited about arrived: the Oaxaca chicken mole. The warm mole sauce over tender chicken and Spanish rice paired beautifully with the three different types of fresh, homemade maíz tortillas. That dish won me over. It brought back memories of my mom making mole when I was younger and standing beside her in the kitchen learning how to cook traditional Mexican dishes. I'm not a professional chef, but I'm the son of a Mexican mother who taught me how to prepare these traditional recipes--from aguachile to fresh chips. Because of that, I was especially disappointed with the aguachile. I do wish I had tried the enchiladas myself. Dessert was different. It was good, but not particularly exciting--it felt a bit like eating cereal with ice cream. I'm not much of a dessert person, so it didn't affect my overall rating. I left Rudy a generous tip because he absolutely deserved it. We need more enthusiastic and attentive people like him in the service industry. Décor Earthy, warm, and genuinely inviting. Every detail--from plates and cutlery to glassware and linens--was thoughtfully chosen and perfectly aligned with the concept. The room works. Full stop. The décor is beyond reproach. Service Our server, Ryan, started strong: engaging, knowledgeable, and polished. He offered a confident introduction to the restaurant and made sure to highlight that the chef-driven concept earned a Michelin star. Unfortunately, that initial promise evaporated quickly. As the meal progressed, Ryan became increasingly absent. By the time food arrived, it was delivered by a rotating cast of two or three other staff members. We did not see our actual server again until it was time to pay the bill--at which point his demeanor was perfunctory and disengaged. Drinks Frankly, disappointing. There was no hot chocolate, no blended margaritas, and the bar was out of its top two tequilas. For a Mexican-influenced restaurant, this is indefensible. Falling behind on tequila inventory is not a supply-chain mystery--it's a management failure, squarely on the GM and bar staff. One additional issue was our drinking water. We were asked if we wanted lemon wedges with our water. We specifically said no. However, each glass, except one came with a lemon wedge. The Xaman Old Fashioned arrived half-filled with ice, the liquid barely reaching a quarter of the glass. One member of our party enjoyed the flavor enough to order a second--which never arrived, yet still appeared on the bill. While Chef Carlos Gaytán's overall concept may be Michelin-worthy, the execution under Executive Chef Rudy Lopez falls well short of that standard. Likewise, General Manager Mike Jones needs a firmer grip on bar inventory and floor oversight. A manager briefly stopped by our table to ask, "How was everything?"--already turning away before the question had finished leaving her mouth. Food The idea--traditional Mexican cuisine with French technique--is compelling. The execution, however, was inconsistent at best and disappointing at worst. Starters ordered included the Butternut Squash Soup, Mayan Ceviche, Smoked Salmon Pâté, and Shrimp Aguachile. Entrées were Chicken Enchiladas, Crispy Cauliflower Steak, Carne Asada New York Strip, Short Ribs, and Lamb Barbacoa. The standouts were limited but clear. The Butternut Squash Soup was sweet, clean, and refreshing. The Mayan Ceviche was bright, acidic, and well-balanced. The Carne Asada was cooked to tender perfection and delivered the most satisfying bite of the night. Everything else ranged from forgettable to subpar. The Chicken Enchiladas arrived cold and lacked depth or complexity. The Short Ribs were also under-warmed, dulling what should have been a rich, comforting dish. Several items felt indistinguishable from what one might expect at an average American fast-casual restaurant--and in some cases, even below that bar. Two sides were ordered: Brussels Sprouts and Corn Tortillas. The Brussels Sprouts showed promise, with hints of sweetness and acidity that nearly coaxed out their natural richness. Nearly--but not quite. The dish lacked the depth needed to carry it home. As for the Corn Tortillas, I can't comment on them at all--they never arrived. With no check-ins from Ryan or his assistant, there was no opportunity to ask. Final Impression By the end of the meal, we collectively decided not to risk dessert. There's a point at which one stops hoping a course will redeem the experience and simply cuts losses. Paseo has an excellent aesthetic and an ambitious concept, but until service, execution, and management align with that vision, it remains a restaurant trading on potential rather than delivering on it. I decided to come to Paseo on the Fourth of July. When I arrived, Alejandro was our server and he was absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond with menu recommendations and suggestions. I tried the Guacamole, Rajas con creama, and my husband had the mole dinner. My pallet made me call Alejandro over to the table to personally Thank him & to have him give my compliments to the Chef. I asked for a recommendation for dessert, even though I was already full and he did not disappoint with the guava cheesecake. My palette thanked me for weeks to come. my husband enjoyed everything from the Jamaica to the Horchata. I cannot wait to come back and have dinner again. What a fun place in Downtown Disney! We went as a group to celebrate a birthday and had a great time. The cocktails were delicious and had great presentation. We tried the guacamole and queso fundido. I'd get the guacamole again, but pass on the fundido. It was very runny and was served with really hard bread. I had the carne asada and it was good, but nothing special. The deserts however were really fun. If you have a group, get two different ones because they are so fun, but aren't very big. We came here for a birthday and there was eight of us, but we were able to get reservations ahead of time so seating was not a problem. After a long, rainy day at the park we decided to stop by Paseo for a drink and apps at the bar. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the dining area and bar are located on the second floor. We stayed at the bar area and he bartender on the night we visited (November 18) was amazing. He recommended the Manguiri which consists of bacardi superior rum, mango syrup, peach syrup, lime juice, fee brothers foam. It was delicious and perfect to end our amazing day at the park. My brother, TP, and his o'hana were in town celebrating his birthday weekend at Disney. I didn't join them for the theme park fun, but I did meet up for an early Sunday dinner. My sister-in-law, KP, suggested Paseo in the Downtown Disney District. I vaguely remembered seeing a TV promo when the restaurant first opened - but didn't realize this was that same spot until we made plans. My brother made 4:45 p.m. reservations, and honestly, getting there was smoother than expected. Parking in the Simba Lot wasn't bad at all. I arrived around 4:30 p.m., found a spot (Simba 4H, small kine walk), breezed through security, and reached the restaurant right on time. I was fully expecting to be at least 15 minutes late, so being early was a pleasant surprise! (Be mindful of the parking rates for Downtown Disney. If you're not aware, it can get pricey.) The first hour of parking is $10, base rate. After the first paid hour, if you get validation from a participating location: For a $20+ purchase at most shops/quick-service spots: you get an additional 3 hours free (so up to ~4 hours total). For dining at a table-service restaurant: you may get up to 5 additional hours free with validation. Without validation (or beyond the free hours): each additional hour (or 30-minute increments) is charged. Cost is $14 per hour charged in 30-min intervals (minimum $7). Maximum daily parking/lost ticket fee: $66. Before you used to get up to three hours of FREE parking in the Downtown Disney District with restaurant validation; not any more. Plan to pay at least the $10, one hour, base rate. Because Paseo sits inside a high-traffic tourist zone, walk-ins can face long waits, so I highly recommend making reservations. The setting makes it ideal for a pre-park dinner or a post-park wind-down. Sit back, relax, and maybe treat yourself to something festive - like their frozen mango margarita. The restaurant itself is very nice, classy, spacious without being presumptuous. We were promptly seated and greeted by our server, Michael. He was friendly and attentive, though a bit of a low-talker, which made it tricky to catch every word, but we managed just fine. They're helpful with menu questions and recommendations without hovering or overexplaining. Would I return? That's a definite maybe. If you have a little extra time and want something a step above typical "theme-park fare," Paseo is worth checking out. The food here was more memorable than our trips to Disney. The food I honestly cooked to perfection. The service is out of this world. Our waiter pours us water every five minutes. We also constantly get checked up on, staff asking, "is everything good?" Which me and my family appreciate incredibly. The ambience is beautiful, it reminds me of the beach and Hawaii. I'm giving 5/5 stars for the atmosphere and 3/5 stars for the food and overall price. I found that the appetizers we shared were very small in comparison to the price paid for them, and I wasn't blown away by the food. The server did share that when eating on the patio in the evenings, that the Disneyland fireworks can be seen, so this reason alone might be worth coming back in the future. read more

A fantastic restaurant, not just for Disney but for any place. Really high quality food clearly made well with good quality ingredients. Highly recommend the Caesar salad, the Yucatán fish, the chile relleno and the guac. All were made really well and tasted like they should from a good restaurant. But their service is what sets them apart, we had a waiter named John who might've been the best waiter I've ever seen. Got everything right, handled issues without us even thinking about them and was among the friendliest and most professional I've ever come across. One of my biggest issues with any establishment is when you are forced (pretty much) to pay a service charge or gratuity when it's not explained before they seat you. However transparency is the best thing any business can do!! Also we did not have a party of 6 or more. So why the forced service charge??? I had the pleasure of dining at Paseo on 4/14 with my husband. Our reservation was at 8 PM so it was nice to have the patio overlooking Downtown Disney almost to ourselves. Our server, Charissa, was exceptional and made us feel like we were dining with a friend that had all the best recommendations. We were celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary unbeknownst to her and she truly made it a special night for us. We started with the guacamole (+ chicharrón), Queso Fundido and Mayan Ceviche. The guacamole is pre-made and includes tomatoes - not a huge fan of tomatoes in guacamole - but it was still fresh and delicious. My husband loved the Queso Fundido which is more of a fondue consistency than a 'cheese pull' consistency. I still think about the Mayan Ceviche and can't wait to have it the next time we visit. Do not skip if you are a ceviche fan! The only negative is that they were sold out of the Duck Tamal that we had our eye on. For our main entrees, we decided on the Snapper A La Talla and Mama's Cochinita Pibil. Definitely plenty of food to share and took leftovers to go. The snapper was cooked beautifully; however, eat with caution due to the bones - pretty standard when ordering a whole fish. The guajillo glaze was tangy and sweet. I enjoyed making tacos with the tortillas, pickled onions and avocado that came with the dish. The Cochinita Pibil was incredibly tender and fell right off the bone. We also enjoyed the habanero salsa served with this dish that added nice heat. The drinks - throughout the meal, we tried the Xaman Old- Fashioned, Ritual Margarita, Smokey Paloma. We were initially seated at two tables pushed together where the middle person's plate was in the crack, where the two tables connected unevenly. But we asked to move and they accommodated so it worked out. The guacamole was good but the chips were a bit hard. The esquites were good. The shrimp dish I ordered was good but the green ball had an odd texture. Overall food was good but not really anything special. If it was more local to me I would go again but I really hated dealing with the Disney experience and crowds so I wouldn't return. read more

Tried their hottest item which was the pork shank with pineapple. Forgot what the name was, but it was pretty dry. Sauce was salty. Our server Rudy was so accommodating, friendly, and efficient. He checked on us and remedied any issues right away. The food overall was not bad. A few things were good and others not satisfying. The brussel sprouts had no flavor. It needed salt for sure and maybe lime and bacon instead of chorizo. The tyaluda was pretty good though and quite filling for an appetizer. For entrees we tried the chicken enchiladas and the poblano pybil. The enchiladas had decent flavor but were a bit dry. The pybil was the better dish. It had good flavor and the meat just fell off the bone. I also love their corn tortillas which seem to be comprised of different colored masa which is fun. read more

We loved our time at Paseo! We went for Easter Sunday dinner with our friends and had a great time. The restaurant is beautiful, we got seated next to the open window and had plenty of space for a table of four adults and our daughter's highchair. The service was amazing, everyone was so kind and so sweet with my toddler. We started with a round of drinks, all were presented beautifully. I had the mai tai, which was a smoky rendition of the original, I absolutely loved it. We ordered the Pibil, the Mole and the pulpo. Everything was awesome. The dishes came well presented and we enjoyed them so much, cannot even pick a favorite. This was the perfect spot to celebrate a special day like Easter. Thank you for the great time! read more

Contemporary modern design. Nice ambiance. This Mexican restaurant is in Disney downtown. We tried couple salads and fish entrees plus french onion soup. Each of them has their uniqueness and all have multiple dimensions of flavors. Pretty interesting choice of ingredients and spices too. If you can't take spicy food or have a preference, just ask the server for recommendations. Most of the dishes i tried are spicy or have hot spice. My favorite dish of all is the roasted beet salad. Sauce is spicy but i love the texture so much with sesame seed added to it. This dish was served first as appetizer and somehow wakes up the taste buds. We picked Cacao for dessert to end the meal. A continuous stimulate to taste buds i would say and it doesn't disappoint. I love all the dishes i tried! Plating is pretty. (Almost too pretty to eat). Friendly and attentive service thru out meal. We didn't have reservations on a Friday but our wait time is pretty manageable. Maybe 15 mins?! I didn't track as we were window shopping. read more

(DISGUSTING) The food is excellent, presentation of the food is nice (chef is very talented), and we had a wonderful time with family. That was what made the evening special. Food and family. However, our server was not very good. He wasn't attentive, and he missed a few items that we were charged for. It also seems like they didn't have custodial staff (if that's the case, front of the house was lazy) as the washrooms were a NIGHTMARE. There was vomit everywhere, my husband informed the staff, and the vomit was still there when we left! THEY WERE INFORMED & they didn't clean it when we left about an hour after were alerted about the situation. Check the cameras. What the heck are these people doing? NOT THEIR JOB, Clearly. I can't wait until the restaurant at the grand Californian reopens. I'd go to Napa rose instead. Paseo was our back up, and they missed the mark. Management: service was lacking... big time. He was probably new, or having an off day. That said, still unacceptable. It's also maddening as we pay a premium to dine here and we did not receive certain items we paid for. & the VOMIT everywhere. Absolutely disgusting. Again, It was still there when we left the restaurant. Train your service staff, please. & again, It's also not ok to charge your guests for items they did not receive. Fix the problem.
