Excellent service. Came to try out the Aloha Hour fare. Sat in the bar area. BBQ ribs are juicy and tender with loads of flavor. Ahi roll was good needs something to punch it up like a little citrusy addition. Also tried the Parmesan truffle fries; comes with Togarashi seasoning which was spicy and overpowering. The Togarashi was not a good "flavor" (IMO) just too hot. I was not too keen on the breading crisp on the fries. I like fries to be cut straight from the potato with no additional outer coating to make it crispy. Drinks were very good but mine was a little sweeter than needed. I even asked for the simple syrup to be removed before I ordered. The coconut puree is just a tad too sweet but the mojito was still delicious. Elliott had a martini.. very strong but also delicious. No validation for parking from Roy's. You only get one hour free. Atmosphere is relaxing and gives off vacation vibes. read more

Going to Roy's is like visiting your Ohana, if you have a wealthy aunt. They are very warm and really greet you with Aloha. The food was excellent. They were very accommodating regarding substitutions. We had the Kalbi New York Strip Steak and the Shellfish Combo, a festive pineapple martini, the pineapple upside down cake, and the lava cake. It was pricey, but worth it. Our server, Kyana, was so kind and knowledgeable. She said that she had worked there for several years , which was evident with how well she knew the menu. It was because she was so good that I paid the 5% wellness fee in addition to tipping her well. However, I was able to calculate my own tip and even though I wanted to be generous, my percentage was less than the suggested percentage. While many establishments do this, I noticed the suggested tip was based on the total, which included the tax, in addition to the wellness fee. I believe in a living wage and wellness for all employees, but I don't want to be tricked into it. Roy's also does not validate parking anymore. One hour is free, however, we know it takes longer to enjoy your meal at a place like Roy's. read more

Roy's was a wonderful place to visit! Top notch customer service and very inviting ambiance. We opted for bar seating to take advantage of Happy Hour specials! They also have a comfortable outdoor patio. The HH menu offered many options, in our group we tried the Old Fashioned, 1988 and Hawaiian MaiTai; all very good, well presented cocktails. Bar service was impeccable! As for the food, most of us got the twin lobster tail special, but one had the Wagyu beef sliders, plus a side of Brussels sprouts. SO delicious!! The lobster tails were cooked to perfection with just enough butter and seasoning to not have to add anything else. The tails were served with rice and Bok Choi, both were equally delicious. Went to Roy's last night for dinner with the ladies and ordered the Christmas dinner menu. We started with appetizers, including the Szechuan spiced pork ribs, tempura-crusted ahi roll, and lobster bisque, and ordered entrees shortly after. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly. Once seated, it took over an hour for our entrees to arrive after appetizers, which felt excessive given the setting and price point. When the food finally came out, there were major issues. We ordered one filet medium and another medium well, but the staff did not know which plate was which. The New York strip ordered medium well was brought out bloody. Overall, the food quality and execution were extremely disappointing. We tried to calmly express our frustration with both the wait time and the mix-up with the dishes. Instead of addressing the concerns, the manager approached the situation with a poor attitude, removed our plates, and zeroed out the bill without any real discussion. That wasn't what we were asking for or expecting -- we wanted accountability and a better experience, not an abrupt dismissal. At the end of the day, the food was not good, the service recovery was mishandled, and the experience did not justify the time or the cost. I will not return and would not recommend Roy's to others. read more

Roy's is one of my favorite restaurants but the service can be hit or miss and the food is pretty much consistently good. Tonight the food and service was perfect. Our waiter, Tanner was very personable and helpful. We ordered a mai tai (very strong), the lobster potstickers, misoyaki butterfish, and Roy's signature chocolate soufflé (my favorite dessert of all time!) and everything was timely and well executed. It was my Birthday dinner at Roy's with my son, daughter-in-law, and husband. It was my first time there and we went early, so we practically had the whole place to ourselves. The little birthday card with plumeria flowers was such a sweet surprise. Great drinks, delicious appetizers, and amazing delicious entrées-everything we ordered was so good. We have been to a few Roy's locations in Hawaii and US, I think this location has the best service and cook. We came here on Thanksgiving Day without a reservation, was told that they were fully booked but the bar area was available. No problem, we love the bar area. Since we had our daughter with us, we sat on one of the high-top tables. The service from the bartenders/servers were excellent; they were friendly, patient and attentive. We order a bottle of wine, the turkey dinner and sea bass, followed by a pumpkin cake. Turkey was tender and easy for our daughter to chew, the veggies that it came with also tasty and she finished the whole plate. Sea bass was cooked to perfection, but greens it came with was too salty for our taste (didn't finish). Wine selection was good; they made sure our glasses were filled. The reason why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was because of the service from the hostesses. We had been here a few times and one time I felt they were a little rude towards us (made us wait and no smile). I haven't been to a Roy's in like over 10 years, I think the closest one to me closed down. In any case I ended up here with my old friend from college who is visiting town and staying in this area. We came from another event so we were already full but she and I needed to catch up by ourselves so we went here. The place is typical of any Roy's restaurant - high ceilings no and spacious dining area. We were here for apps and drinks. Our server was lovely and I wish I remembered her name but she was really friendly and attentive. My mojito is good and not watered down. The poke with the wonton chips are my favorite. Very light and fresh. The potstickers are good as well but between the 2 I still prefer the poke. Great place is you're in the area to sit and chat with friends/ family. read more

Came here for a graduation party and I thought the food was good. I would say the best part of the 3 courses was the salad as the sauce blended really well with the veggies. The Ahi tuna dish was alright. I wish it was a bigger portion though because I felt like I finished it in less than 10 minutes. I thought the sauce that came with the dish tasted really good with the tuna. As for dessert, I felt that it was a good balance of tart and sweet. The sauce that was under the cake tasted delicious as well. As for service, we did have to wait a while for our food to come out, but I believe they were just waiting for everyone to finish and clear bowls before they went on to the next course. Pleasant dining experience. From the beginning the staff offered to store our stroller while we dined. This allowed us to store our belongings and to sit comfortably in the booth. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout. We immediately notified them we were there for the happy hour and their demeanor didn't change. I felt well taken care of and the staff repeatedly check in on us. We ordered the sushi roll, sliders, spring rolls and kids meals. We also ordered several rounds of drinks. I'm surprised I have never reviewed this place, since its one of my faves and I have been coming here for years. This is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion or just a fun date. The cocktails are better than anyone in the area. The martinis are fantastic as are the mai tais. The happy hour is amazing and I also love the prix fix meals. Service is always wonderful. This is a dining experience that is different than your average steak and seafood restaurant, because it has an island flair. My fave is the butter fish with short ribs surf and turf meal. Our family of five recently visited Roy's and ordered the Braised Short Ribs of Beef (2 orders), Roy's Classic Combo, Grilled Center Cut Filet Mignon, and the Shellfish Sampler. Overall, the food was excellent and all of the dishes were delicious except for the Shellfish Sampler. The lobster was excessively salty, so we sent it back, but the replacement tasted the same. I would also like to recognize our waiter, who provided outstanding service throughout our visit. He was courteous, friendly, attentive, and consistently made sure our water glasses were refilled. Despite the issue with the lobster, we had a very enjoyable dining experience overall. I would recommend Roy's, but I would personally avoid ordering dishes that include lobster in the future. read more

Yummy food, friendly staff, excellent service, beautiful ambiance and great location. My husband and I ordered the 3-course Prix Fixe menu items, beef ribs and salmon. The course started with a generously portioned salad with a light salad dressing. Then the entres were served with tender ribs meat (thank goodness no bones) and creamy potatoes and fresh juicy grilled salmon paired nicely with an onigiri. The star of the show was the chocolate souffle, so decadent as the warm chocolate cream oozing out when you cut through the souffle with the fork...the best of the best IMO. Yes, I highly recommend and will return in the future, perhaps at the Oahu locations as well. BTW, one star went to the wellness 5% fee they charged. Yesterday, my sisters and I took my mother out for her 81st birthday. The Hawaiian and elegant ambiance was on point. The prix fixe dinner was a great deal, and we were able to have quality food such as the salmon, miso salad, lobster bisque, spicy tuna rolls, and souffle with ice cream. It was a perfect dinner for my mother, especially because Enrique made the entire group feel so special. My mother was so touched by the superb service that she had to give Enrique a hug before she left. She was so happy, and still talking about her experience the following day. We didn't have reservations but were able to sit at the bar (small tables and chairs available in the area) customer service was really good from everyone who visited our table (maybe close to five different people came to our table) I got the sea bass, I have never ordered sea bass before. I decided to go on Christmas Day to get a drink at the bar! The Roy's Hawaiian martini was right on point and good! They had a prefix menu for Christmas that was good pricy but a lot to choose from. Walking into the restaurant, there was an off-putting smell like sewage. Not overpowering but enough to notice and it was not very pleasant. The ambiance, however, was up to standard. Very clean-looking and nice table settings. The service was second to none! Greg took care of us and made our anniversary dinner that much better. Amazing Father's Day Dinner. Took my parents, my wife, and two young children for dinner. My parents arrived 45 minutes early and the staff had them seated on the patio and tending to them before we arrived. We were seated immediately. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We had appetizers, as well all ordered steak and lobster and dessert. The food was fantastic, the Brussels sprouts were the best I've ever had. Came here for an early Mother's Day lunch! We were greeted and seated promptly for our reservation. My husband ordered the catch of the day and I ordered the misoyaki butterfish! The butterfish was really soft, "buttery", and full of flavor. My only complaint is that the portion size was so small. I left the lunch actually still hungry and wished we could've stayed at the bar to order some drinks or appetizers. It would've been nice if their happy hour prices weren't exclusive to the bar. I do feel like we overpaid for the meal that we were served but I know that's the cost of fine dining! read more

Whenever we visit Disneyland, we like to venture out for dinner somewhere close by with fewer people and better food than Disney has to offer. Roy's is located in the STC Anaheim GardenWalk next to McCormick's. It's not a very long walk from Disney. On our Wednesday night visit, we were the only other table besides a guy at the bar and another three top. Service was great from before we arrived and until we said goodbye. Shortly before we entered, I received a text to say our table was ready. Upon arrival, we only waited a few seconds before we were seated by a friendly hostess who acknowledged my note indicating gluten free. She gave me a gluten free menu! Christina quickly greeted us and acknowledged me being gluten free and asked a few questions. She was extremely personable and friendly the entire evening. Throughout the meal, every person that brought food to the table pointed out what was gluten free and not. I very much appreciate how much attention and care they offered to accommodate my dietary needs. Christina came by during the appetizers to let me know that they offered a gluten free Chocolate Lava Cake which took 20 minutes to prepare so I debated but of course said yes! Sadly, they were out of of the Tempura Shishito Peppers which were gluten free. I was so excited to try them but didn't get a chance. We had the Hamachi Carpaccio and Tuna Poke which were both really good and gluten free. I just didn't eat the wonton chips. For entrees, I shared the Combo of Short Rib and Butter Fish plus the Swordfish with Risotto. My son had the kids meal of Tempura Shrimp Roll and shared the Lobster Potstickers and the Lakanilau Roll (thinly sliced Wagyu Beef on the outside - Snow Crab - Avocado - Tempura Asparagus - Sesame Miso Truffled Greens in the inside) with his grandma. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed their food. I even had the Short Rib, Swordfish, and rice leftover for breakfast at hotel. It was still all delicious. We were very happy with the meal. Too bad it was so empty but Christina told us it's typically like that in June/July and business picks up during convention time. If we visit Disney during the holidays, we will be back to Roy's! read more

We've never had a bad experience at any of the Roy's we've been to, and this is no exception. We took the office here for lunch, and it was a much needed deviation from eating lunch in the office. A nice, upscale restaurant with a Hawaiian fusion vibe. We arrived for a birthday party of 5 and the service was great. We opened with the Canoe sampler appetizer and it was amazing. The fried tuna roll, egg roll, ribs, and lobster gyoza. So many different flavors on one plate. For the main course I ordered the Classic Four which had Ono fish, Salmon, Butter Fish, and seared Ahi. It was very, very delicious with a variety of different flavors all with an Asian vibe. Service was great and the ambiance was welcoming. I'm deducting one star because we got the chocolate soufflé and it wasn't as good as we anticipated for the price. Overall it's a nice, higher end restaurant with delicious food. read more

Really good rolls, drinks, and yes a really great wedge salad! I have never enjoyed a wedge salad and sushi roll in one sitting, but it was the best of both worlds. I went with my coworkers after an event and our waiter was great with asking about dietary restrictions, providing recommendations, and even letting us know about if we wanted to order a dessert ahead of time since it'll take a bit to bake. The only complaint my coworkers had was that the booth was hard to get in to. It was somewhat sticky and we struggled a bit to get in and out of the booth. Overall, fantastic experience! read more

Had a fun tropical meal at Roy's before catching a show at the House of Blues. We started with the Tempura Shishito Peppers (terrific), the Lobster Potstickers (just ok) and the Crispy Wok Fired Shrimp (amazing). I paired it with their Mai Tai (this drink was perfect and strong). Next, I had the Misoyaki Butterfish (light and tasty fish) with the furikake rice cake and bok choy (the rice tastes a bit premade/dry and little small and it could use one more bok choy). For dessert, I tried both the chocolate lava cake (very good classic lava cake) and their pineapple upside down cake (so good, tastes like an upgraded pineapple butter cake). While service was good, larger parties disrupted the timing of the food. So don't count on getting out on time or be sure to go earlier. Overall good experience. read more
