I called regarding a Medeco issue that I inherited from the previous owner of my house. Seems there are many keyways from different lock shops, and Pasadena Lock gave me several options to consider and to call back once I decided including contacting other lockshops. Medico is expensive, and after some research, I had Pasadena Lock come out and solved the issue with one key, and I might add $158.00 less than my other quotes. Andre took our broken 101 year old front door antique lock and was able to re-fabricate the set up using a variety of improvised hand-tooled parts. He fixed the tumblers, rekeyed it and made the entire unit function better than before. He stayed after hours to make sure we had our front door functioning before nightfall. What a disaster! I have been a faithful Yelp user for a couple of years now, and until this experience I have always found I could trust the ratings...until now. All I can think is that this business must have changed owners, employees, and management since the last Yelp review, because they had 4 stars and this company was a nightmare to work with. Without boring you with every detail of the last WEEK of trying to get someone to return a call and/or come out; here's the break down. I spoke to 3 different men at the company (I will not give names) who all gave me different stories on what the job would cost, and what the job would involve. It took six days for someone to finally show up, then they didn't show up prepared. They were not friendly, talked over me, and were just plain inconsiderate. I felt like I was the outsider to this "good ole boys club". When I did work up the courage to speak regarding the quote/quotes given, and the service, they abruptly addressed SOME of the issues, and acted like they were doing me a favor. It sickens me to say this, but buyer beware. These people live in their own little world, and if you are "lucky enough" to be graced by their locksmith services, you may just find yourself thinking....did that just really happen? read more

This is and update to my review from a year ago. As you will see below. I decided to rekey my door and ask for Stwve the owner whoni received great service from in the past and unfortunately he was not available and got the store manager. I made an appointment for after work at 7pm and then recieved a text at 7pm to say he would be 45min late to the appointment. I explained how this would be an inconvenience to me and asked if there way anyway for someone to get to me close to my appointment time. I was advised no and that was the only thing that could be and to take it or leave it. I then ask would I receive some kind of discount for the disservice and was told no other company would do it for the price they quoted me and that was it. The store manager had a bad attitude over the phone and I guess didn't feel as if customer serviced applied after 7pm at night. I then hung up the phone and contacted another company I found on yelp with great review and not only did they say they could get to me soon but would do the work for a lower price. Shame on Pasadena Lock Shop for you lack of service and respect for your customers time. Old review from a year ago Pasadena Lock Shop is the best. Steve Came out after hours to replace a lock on my door which stop working so We could not use the back door. I was late for my appointment due to the rain and extra traffic and Steve Waited and hour to make sure I could use my door. He even fit the bottom lock because it was fully working properly. I've used the services of Steve and his crew since I moved to LA for emergencies and for re-keying a new property. Always accurate, always service oriented. My most recent experience was while I was on business travel, my pet sitter was unable to get into the house. Steve had given me the code for replacement keys. I gave that to the pet sitting service; she texted Steve and he not only made a replacement key for her after hours, but asked her to let him know if the key worked. Of course it did. Who thinks about having the right locksmith in your life? I do. I was able to manage the entire incident from 2,000 miles away with confidence. Even I didn't expect him to make the key after hours, but we all slept well that night knowing that the animals were tended to and the house was secure. I'm very grateful. Our key broke in the front door lock. PLS offered to come within the hour, but since I could get inside and it was raining, I suggested next morning. Since we'd had ongoing problems with this lock, I didn't have high hopes. Steve arrived, removed the broken key, tightened the hinges to make the door close more easily, lubricated the lock's chamber and made 3 new keys that work way better than any previous keys had all for a VERY reasonable price.
