Went to get some keys done. It is fast and very customer friendly. This is a shop just for locks related thing. So the owner is super knowledgeable. It's really pretty hard to hard a lock only shops now. Btw, they are located in the downtown Monrovia. So there are plenty of free parking lot and street parking available. read more

When I first called about a lock not working on my back door, he gave me two good pieces of advice. Only after trying these did I call him back and ask for an appointment. He said "Will you be available at 10 tomorrow morning?" and of course I said "Yes!" So even though it was the 4th of July he came and replaced my defective lock and lined up both locks so it was easy to use both of them! I bought a new place and the front door lock was difficult to open. I called Monrovia Lock Shop and he arranged to meet me at the house a few days later. He was right on time and wearing his mask when we met. We discussed what to do about the front door and all of the other external doors as there were different keys for different locks. We agreed that the best course of action was to change the pins in all the locks so that I only needed one key to unlock all the doors and so that any keys that the previous owner still might have had wouldn't work. He completed all of the work on site and in short order I had new keys. He had me check out the keys and locks before he left. This was a great experience and I would highly recommend using his services, I know I will if I have the need. read more

Always fast, honest service. Used them when the owner bought the place in the late 1990's. Great, fast, fair service.

Never thought something as simple as getting keys copied would result in such poor customer service. The keys that were copied were not working and were not aligned with the original copy. I returned them, but Louie gave me a very defensive and condescending attitude like it was my fault the keys weren't fitting. I asked him to take a look at the keys in order to see that the keys were not copied accurately, instead he just threw them away without even looking. When asked how I can get another copy, his wonderful answer was to go look somewhere else and did not even offer to remedy the situation. Seeing all the 5 star reviews here, he must not have been having a good day, but this was one of the very few times in my life that I have experienced such poor and unprofessional customer service. I've had keys copied here one other time with no problems, but I will not be coming back. read more

I recently just left this shop, a very very happy customer. Louie Salgado, the gentlemen who helped me was very informative and extremely helpful. My front door lock broke and had to be replaced, so I went to Home depot and bought a replacement lock set, along with a Re-Key kit so I can continue to use the same house key. This was the first time I've ever tried to re-key a new lock set so i asked the HD worker how to do it since he seemed pretty knowledgeable in this department. At the end of it all, he wrote them a few numbers of which pins to use (you'll understand if you're familiar with this process) to program my current key. I went home, thinking it was going to take minutes, but it took me more than an hour and I wasn't even close to getting it to work with my current key. Frustrated, I looked on yelp and found this store. As stated, Louie helped me and walked me through the process of where I went wrong. It literally took him less than 5 minutes to complete everything. From now on, this is my go-to lock shop if I ever need help with anything lock-related. Thanks Louie! read more

Excellent and responsive!!! I work from home a lot, and today when I took my dog for a lunch time walk, I locked myself out of the house. I called Monrovia Lock Shop because they were the closest to me (I have never needed a locksmith before). They were friendly on the phone and had a locksmith out to me in 30 minutes! Best locksmith anywhere. Darryl is very nice and patient, but even better he's a brilliant locksmith. Four years ago he fixed my 80 year old front door lock. I had had three other locksmiths out and they couldn't fix the problem. Darryl searched the web for an elusive part and the repair was done within a week. Still working without a hitch. Oh my goodness! Darrell and Louis made it so easy to get my office rekeyed. I sent them a photograph of the doorknob so that they could see what kind of lock mechanism it was, then 1/2 an hour later they were at my door and rekeyed my office. Also, this honest business let me know that my doorlock was about $250 for a replacement, but they could simply rekey it for less than half the price. Darrell, the owner, arrived right on schedule in his mobile lock shop and walked the property with me, inspecting the various doors. He was professional and courteous throughout the appointment.
