Second time around not so great. My bad for not getting the quote reply before booking. Honestly, they did such a good job rekeying my house, it was $65 for the tech to show up, then per door lock key. I needed a deadbolt added and got a reply via Yelp, they would be out the next day. I didn't agree on a price first. Never ever make an assumption. I thought it would be around $150 for a 20 minute job. Nope! $220. The funny thing is I asked the technician the price when he was at his van. His answer was "I'll give you an invoice at the end" That should have been my second red flag. Just because you get a fair price once, doesn't mean it will happen again. (Reminds me of taking my car in for repairs, the first couple times, good deal, then the prices escalate). I let him know about my issues I was having with my car and the key he quickly stepped into action and let me know what I needed He let me know the price and I told him it was fine. While I were waiting they offered us water, which was so nice but after he was done, he showed me himself what he did and he showed me the difference in my old key and my new key and told me why my car was acting that way. This was one of the few places that could make copies of your car key. Quality was good and having called earlier for the price, it seemed to be around the same every where. I didn't notice, but they do have parking through a small alley way right by their front door. If you're getting copies of a car key, park in their lot! I gave 4/5 stars only because you have to be careful as the owner's English is not very good and he had misunderstood what I had wanted. What was suppose to be under a $100 trip came out to be over $200 trip, which made it very frustrating and keys can obviously not be refunded. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience here. I called ahead for pricing on having a key programmed and cut for my vehicle and explained that I already had my own key fob. I was quoted $85. When I arrived, I was told my key was not compatible. He asked how much I paid and I said $20. I asked him if he had one that was compatible with my vehicle. Without discussing pricing or asking for approval he searched and searched for keys and unbeknownst to me proceeded to program it. Afterward, once he was done, he asked if I wanted it cut. Since the key had already been programmed, I agreed, assuming the replacement key would be reasonably priced and close to my $20 aftermarket one. Only after everything was finished did he tell me the total was $195. At no point was I informed beforehand that the replacement key would cost that much. The key was also not original. If there is going to be a major increase in price, customers should absolutely be consulted before work is completed. Customers deserve transparency and clear communication before additional work or charges are added. This situation could have been avoided with a simple conversation upfront. Instead the employee, kept blaming me and yelling at me in front of other customers for not asking how much. He said it was my responsibility as a customer to ask the price instead of the business being transparent upfront. Such a shady business tactic. Whatever happened to integrity? Overall, the experience felt misleading and left a very negative impression. read more

I needed a second key fob for my car and called my go-to locksmith at Pasadena Lock Shop. They recommended Good Lock & Key on Colorado Blvd. I called and spoke with awesome Milad who was out on a service call. He assured me that car fobs were no problem. When I went to the shop, the owner had the fob but not the updated scanner software for my car. Awesome Milad handles those! They arranged for awesome Milad, with the updated scanner, to make a service call to my place to program the fob. Great service, right? He came by within a couple of hours, programmed the car fob and made the alternate key. Milad was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. There was an issue with an error message popping up on my car dash, so he had to check it again, but it quickly resolved itself, which apparently is very common. The car fob works great. They sent a tech that said he sub contracts for them. Told me my whole push bar lock mechanism needs to be replaced and it will cost $1699. I wasn't on-site but when I arrived, I saw that he was only replacing the door lock mechanism. Told me the part cost $1200! I googled the part he brought and the most expensive site had it for $150. The tech was very inexperienced and I had to tell him how to install the new lock. Avoid this place at all cost. read more
