What a disappointing experience at the once reliable Foothill Lock and Key! This was my third visit for the same issue. While waiting, I watched the counter employee speak to another customer in a condescending and sarcastic manner. I was shocked that guy would openly insult a customer in front of others. When it was my turn, another employee claimed not to remember assisting me previously (but recalled the car) and then denied offering me the same price for an OEM key that had been discussed during my first two visits. The other employee then jumped in and claimed that Ford OEM keys often "don't work" and have to be sent back, so best I go with the no-name generic key. I did not appreciate the conflicting stories, the lack of professionalism, or the shop's refusal to honor what I had been told during two prior visits. As a long-time customer, it's frustrating to see how far this business has fallen. Because I don't like being lied to, I will take my business elsewhere and, of course, cannot recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Quick service, very professional, and locally-owned. They can duplicate keys in their truck.

I contact Foothill Lock and Key explaining my issue with my Fob. They kind and courteous and explained what they needed to do and gave me a price on the spot. Told me they would there in an hour, I don't believe it was 25 minutes before he rolled up, I handed my keys he got to work and it's done. Thank you for your assistance. I highly recommended them. Foothill Lock & Key - Lock and Key service - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Pasadena, California

Foothill Lock & Key truly does everything. I've used them for a wide range of work over the years--gates, pressure pads, standard locks, specialty cases, and most recently my motorcycle--and they've delivered every single time. I've requested their services professionally for work and personally for home. My latest visit really sealed it for me: I had a snapped key stuck in my motorcycle's gas tank. Not only were they able to extract the broken key without causing any damage, but they also copied the key on the spot. That's no small task, and very few shops even have the capability to do it and they're honest with their pricing! They're also mobile, which is a huge plus if you can't get to the shop or need help on-site. This is one of the only places around that seems to have nearly every type of key and every specialty you can imagine. On top of that, everyone there is friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable--you can tell they genuinely know their craft. Highly recommend Foothill Lock & Key if you want the job done right the first time!! read more

These guys are the greatest. Seriously they deserve business just based on how kind and generous they are. I accidentally locked my daughter and keys in the car, absolute nightmare! They opened my door and were so kind to me. They told me to relax when I was low key panicking inside . They remind me how much I love Altadena. Thank you so much for your kind speedy and caring service. Recommend 10000% read more

After getting a ridiculous quote from Kia Covina for a replacement key fob, I went to Foothill Lock and Key. Romeo was great - found a new fob (very reasonable compared to Kia), and was able to program it, even going so far as to obtain the necessary programming code (Kia Covina were totally unwilling to give me the code for my own car). Thank you, Romeo @ Foothill Lock and Key! read more

I feel really obligated to leave a review since they are just AMAZING! I came in wanting to copy a key and a key fob and they helped me right away - I got my new key in under 10 minutes! They have a huge selection of whatever you need - I went to a couple places before Foothill Lock & Key and was told that they don't have that specific type. Now onto the key fob, I contacted A BUNCH of places online prior and was told that it was not possible to duplicate that whatsoever. Nick took pictures of both the front and back of the key fob and told me he would try to contact the distributors to see if this can be copied. A couple days later I was told they can!!! Even though I didn't end up needing a copy but I really really appreciate their quick response and willingness to go the extra mile to help me out! Amazing service!!! Highly highly recommend! read more

Needed new sets of keys. There's only two guys when I went so it was a bit slow since there were a few people there already. Customer service was nice. I'll be going back in the future. Support local businesses! read more

Needed some copies made of a ladder gate abus key for one of my properties to distribute to the other board members. Home Depot couldn't copy these types of keys, so contacted my locksmith, All Lady Locksmiths, and they recommended Foothill Lock & Key. Service, professionalism, and expertise was far beyond what I expected. In need of a new door knob, new keys, and a replacement for the sliding door handle and and lock, Paul took care of everything. My call to request a visit was answered by Nick, who was incredibly friendly and reassuring, making it happen today rather than in the future. He called me back and said he could get someone to me within the hour, and that happened within 30minutes. Paul took the time to look at the situation and took care of each problem with a perfect solution. I appreciate the work done, the kindness and friendliness that came along with it, and the perfection in the craftsmanship. We are lucky to have this company within our reach, it is obvious they care about their customers and the work that they so proudly do. Thank you Nick for starting the experience and to Paul for coming through with the work that was so well done. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth the money spent for peace of mind and security of our home. read more

My door lock stopped working all of a sudden, and they came out within 30 minutes. Paul was so very nice, explained what went wrong and then suggested a couple of products so I could decide what price range I wanted to pay. Friendly professional service for programming and cutting a backup key fob for Honda CRV. Good price compared to other vendors, particularly dealerships. Did a great job in a timely manner. Recommend highly. read more

AVOID!!!! Had both my car doors broken and ignition broken. Contacted them in the morning and now wish I was never recommended here!!!! Everything is "fixed", paid $850. My ignition now does NOT have all its capabilities, both doors still do not work. My keyless entry no longer works. When I went back to address the issues, they called back 2 hours later and said its a different part and I need to buy that now. Some how the door locks broke the actuators. The actuator still working fine after I fixed the "issue" He never replaced the items he listed on initial quote. Left broken door handles only replaced cylinders. Broke my interior door panel and tried to say it was already broken. I had the window replaced last month and had no such issue! Tried to charge me another $1k for actuators for both doors. Ignition parts $60 to $80 - charged $350!!! Door lock cylinders kit $180 per kit of 2 cylinders. - Charged $250 a door!!!! If my house and tools didnt burn....I would have done this myself. Done it before. TOTAL RIP OFF find another locksmith. read more

Quick service at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend for car key repairs compared to the dealerships.

I get special keys made from them to securely lock up my building . They are very nice and attentive at the store.

Accidentally locked ourselves out of the apartment - called up quite a few places but glad we came across Foothill Lock & Key! Great communication and they sent someone out a few minutes before closing. We were serviced in less than 40 min from the moment I first called to us getting back into the apt. Mohammed was great and friendly. Felt really bad taking him away from watching the Laker game but he was completely understanding and happy to help. Always love supporting a family business. Hopefully this doesn't ever happen again, but if we're ever in need of lockout service or any locksmith services I know who I'll be calling! Highly recommended. read more

I walked into the store on Friday and I believe it was Al (?) who was super nice and helpful and scheduled a house call the next day for me. Paul came on Sat and did an excellent job strategizing with me on what was needed for my security gate. He made a quick run to the hardware store, gave me multiple choices, and did a quick and seamless install of a new door handle with recommendations on how to make things more secure long term. He also secured my biometric safe inside a cabinet and did a great job. I had been needing to do this for a long time and didn't know how. Thank you Paul. This is a GREAT and trustworthy local business that I highly recommend. read more

We just moved into a new house here in Glendora and needed my locks rekeyed. i was trying to give my business to local businesses so i contracted "24/7 Locksmith Services" and boy did i regret it! they could not put back together my front door lock. long story short they did not want to send another worker, and no communication with reception office and worker. worker called me back saying they would come in two weeks!! i had no support from office nor did they want to return m money which was a lot! Well i decided to call the company i have always called when living in Altadena, Foothill Lock and Key. THEY SAVED THE DAY AND ARE MY HEREOS!! I love them! they were so helpful, professional , empathetic and Paul was super knowledgeable so much so that he came, fixed it in 30 minutes!! and rekeyed again. I couldn't be more thankful for their kind and quick, amazing service, fair prices and quality of work. I learned my lesson , and will never go elsewhere. read more

Our house has an old safe bolted into the ground that needed to be reprogrammed with a code. Nick was very responsive over Yelp and the technician arrived on time. They were both very honest about what we needed and that they didn't recommend getting a new safe since the one we have is great and functioning despite its old age. The technician knew exactly what he was doing and was able to figure out how to program it efficiently and correctly. The only thing that made me deduct one star was that the technician smoked right before entering our house and smelled like cigarette smoke which caused our room to smell too. He also didn't remove his shoes, so I felt it was a bit unprofessional. Other than that, he was very nice and skilled and I would still recommend them to anyone. read more

We were getting our new, solid wood front door installed last week and wanted to reuse our antique Yale mortise lock and handleset. Our contractor didn't have the proper equipment to install it and said we would have to buy a similar looking lockset but brand new, which defeats the purpose of maintaining the character of an older home. We urgently called around to at least 15 locksmiths in the area. A bunch of them weren't available same day nor did they have the experience to install an old lock like ours. The ones that did quoted us anywhere from $650-900. Finally we were able to get in touch with Foothill. They provided us with a much more reasonable quote and Paul was able to come that afternoon. Within 4 hours (it's a labor intensive job), he had everything properly installed. Paul was knowledgeable, experienced, and thorough. We were definitely impressed and you can tell he has an appreciation for craftsmanship like we do. Highly recommend Foothill. We'll be requesting Paul to come back when we have to re-key some of our locks. read more

Very happy with their service! Very friendly on the phone. Paul came out to service the same day. He knew immediately what was wrong with the digital dead bolt and quoted a price to replace the piece. He didn't have the part in his truck, but went to the shop and returned quickly with the piece and replaced the dead bolt. Service was friendly, quick, clean, and efficient. I will definitely recommend to my friends that need a locksmith! read more

Fast, friendly and affordable. They were able to offer same day service to re-key the house. Nothing but good things to say.

Al and Nick have consistently come through for me and my family over and over again. Whether door locks, door keys, FOB remote programming, or anything concerning security, THEY MAKE IT HAPPEN!!
