We here at Reed's Heating LOVE Pappy McGregor's! The food is always phenomenal, the atmosphere is great; we love it so much we already booked their patio for our company Christmas Party! An excellent place to go if you're from out of town, or if you're a local. Don't miss this tasty treat! read more

If your looking for a local bar with a little bit younger crowd and entertaining bar keeps visit this establishment!

The wife and I used to eat there quite often, until a little while ago we started not going as often because they have become very inconsistent. The service has a lot to be desired if you go just to eat and don't order drinks. Recently we decided to go back last weekend an noticed they had raised their prices. We ordered and we were pleasantly surprised, so we decided to go back again this weekend and the service was horrible and the meal was half of what it was the last time we ate, we ordered the same thing ! read more

One of our favorite stops on the way to the coast. Service sis above average and the food is excellent.

I have lived in Paso three months now and tried several different eating establishments. Pappy's is definitely not my favorite but seems to have the most potential. Between good live music, a decent outdoor dance floor/eating area, low cal mixed drinks, pretty good food, and atmosphere its almost as if they would have to try to make this place sub par. I've been here a total of three times and two of those times was to eat. The bar is desperately understaffed (2-3 bartenders serving 50 people), however our bartender was nice and worked as quickly as he could. There are also roughly three or four waitresses that were not the fastest as well as seemingly overwhelmed by their job. The first time, the waitress brought my wife a prime rib and mashed potatos that was cold, not luke warm but cold, and then proceded to say that, that is how medium rare prime ribs are (like ive never had one before also she didn't apologize for obvious mistake). Our appetizer was also brought out with main course. She then took it away and reheated it, I'm guessing in microwave. The next time we went the waitress did not write down the order and forgot the bacon I asked to be added on my jalapeno kobe burger, which tasted on par with a slightly better burger king whopper (no exaggeration and it was $14.95). To top it off the bacon was not freshly made and was cold. To end the night I ordered a piece of chocolate cake for me and my wife $9, thinking it would be big considering the price, however it wasnt. If it was a fine dining restraunt i can see the high cost but nine bucks for a small piece of chocolate cake (I believe the carrot cake was the same price) seems too much. I will go here again because of atmosphere, lack of options, and some of the food was good. If this place made some obvious and necessary changes they would be much better off. read more

Great place to hangout and have a beer. I was just passing through town and found this place in the downtown square.

This place was fun and serves great comfort foods! We split a half order of the original mac and cheese, the potato leek soup, and the kobe burger and followed it up with some oyster shooters. I had the blood orange mojito and my boyfriend had the bourbon smash. The mac and cheese was amazing and I was a little sad we had only ordered a half and that I had to share it. It was a perfect balance of cheesiness that was indulgent but not greasy. The potato leek soup looked a bit thin when it came out and I was a little worried because it's been creamier at other places but I did not need to worry. The soup had great flavor and there were plenty of potato and sausage chunks for both of us to have a hearty, tasty soup experience. The kobe burger was delicious as well and I always love egg and avocado on burgers. :) My blood orange mojito was really good in a minty citrusy way but my boyfriend (and I) did not care for his bourbon smash. It tasted a bit syrupy and more like sweet and sour than the orange and lemon juice would imply. It was also very weak. Overall, the place was fun and friendly and our server was attentive. I would definitely go back and I would order a full order of mac and cheese, probably the lobster mac and cheese because I heard that is fantastic but there were too many things we wanted to try for us to commit to that. :) read more

A friend recommended the place. We were a lil worried because we had 4 kids with us. Waited a few extra mins because it was a large group, but worth it. Service was great, food was excellent. Garlic fries, burgers! Pretzel appetizer was so fresh read more

Had dinner here before a movie. Everything was delicious and filling. Recommend the Mac-n-Cheese. Truly amazing for a seemingly simple dish. Great beer options including Lagunitas Hop Stoopid! Service was friendly and fast. read more

This is our go to spot in Paso! The food is outstanding! My hubby and I had the French onion soup, nachos, wedge salad and the Cuban sandwich with garlic fries. I already can't wait to go back. We sat at the bar on a Sunday to watch some of the football games. The service is super friendly and attentive. Cool pub vibe and inviting atmosphere. This place is a must try if you are in the area for sure!! read more

Just tried the new menu last night and it is awesome!! Amazing chopped salad, fondue, sandwiches and I am SO excited that you added fried pickles to the menu, how awesome! Thank you! read more

We stumbled upon this place after our trip back from Hearst Castle. We barely made it there in time before the kitchen closes at 9pm. I wish they'd stayed open a bit longer. It was a busy place! We ordered burgers and garlic fries - they were incredible!! My daughter ordered a "Black Velvet" which was a mix of guinness and hard cider. She thought it was really good. I'd definitely go back again! read more

On New Year's Day my husband and I were majorly craving some good homemade comfort good. We hadn't been to Pappy McGregors for quite awhile and decided to go there before seeing a movie (gotta love this location). We are so glad we did! The service was great, the ambiance and drinks fun and the FOOD could not have been more piping hot and delicious. Try the Prime Rib Sandwich & Garlic Fries...it doesn't get better n' this on a cold winter's night. We'll be back! Erica F read more

I can't say enough great things about this place and its staff! Ian is definitely the consummate bartender/caretaker of this little gem of a place. It seems to be the local popular watering hole and was definitely the place to be post-Wine Festival. Our first visit was on a sleepy weeknight and we enjoyed people-watching some local drunk people and Ian's finesse in handling them. When we came back after the festival, it was nothing short of chaotic, but we found a spot on the outdoor patio and had a wonderful experience listening/dancing to the band. I'm only sorry, after reading some of the food reviews, that we didn't eat a meal here. Oh well...definitely next time! read more

didn't eat here, but food looked scrumptios, was going to come back for dinner but too crowded! drinks were over the top, had a moscow mule it was fabulous, looking forward to eating there read more

Been going to Pappy's for over 2 years. The service has ALWAYS been great. The food is exceptionally good. The servers are efficient and friendly. Excellent drinks. My wife highly recommends the Kilt Lifter and the Lemon Drop. I recommend Cadillac Margaritas and, in my not so humble opinion, the BEST beer in the world, HARP, an Irish beer crafted by Guinness. Their appetizers are meal by itself. Calimari, nachos, mac & cheese and many others read more

Great service and the prime rib sandwich was to die for. Garlic fries and blue cheese horseradish for the sandwiches was the perfect touch. Topped it off with a Moscow Mule. Heaven! read more

I had the cottage pie here, and it was amazing. The presentation was decent, but not spectacular. However, once I took a bite it was on another level. It had the perfect blend of ingredients. There really anything else I can say. Since, beef wellington is hard to acquire this may be my new favorite dish. Also all staff was friendly and welcoming. read more

Our most recent visit was slightly disappointing, as some of our menu favorites have been discontinued and the food wasn't exceptional as has been in years past. The atmosphere is still fun and friendly at least. read more

We were seated quickly and the food came out quickly as well. Great service. The food was solid, especially the hot dog. Even though we sat in the bar, it wasn't loud. read more

Good food. The 0lace has a few seating areas to select from and all offer a nice vibe. The oysters Rockefeller is very good. Calamari is done well too. Burgers are huge. Only downside is at rush tumes it gets busy. read more

Had the worst bartender I have ever heard of. I seriously could not have stayed to finish my beer because the bartender was so heinous. It seemed as if the volume of the bar stressed her out to the point of her simply not tolerating simple questions from the patrons. Unbelievable. read more

I'm torn on how I want to rate this place. I went here once for food, it was at lunch time and the burgers were excellent. So, food wise, good stuff. I've been here 3 or 4 times on Friday and Saturday nights with friends, and it was (IMHO) realllllyyyy boring. Every time we come here for nightlife, I'm always left wondering why the hell we came to this place. We always leave right away or stay in boredom. Most of the people that work here are really great, but I have experienced 1 or 2 duds. I'm going to stay away from the nightlife here, but I do think I need to come here more often for lunch. read more

The Blarny Burger was easily one of the best burgers I've ever had! When I asked for it to be cooked medium, that's exactly what I got. Not overcooked like most places. Service was nice, which is all I ask for. The place is small and popular, so don't count on getting a table during dinner time. read more

The Crooked Kilt/ Pappy Mcgregor's always had the best food and drinks in my opinion. My husband and I would eat there probably once a week! They were always a little expensive but I didn't mind because the portions were big and the food was sooooo good. Some of my favorites were the pub Mac and cheese, the steak and shrooms and the chicken pot pie. If I wanted to have drinks more than dinner I would get the pretzel fondue! Yummy. Well, ever since they opened up fish gaucho, the service, food and drinks have lessened in quality but the price has gone up. I spend 20 bucks on one White Russian just to make it drinkable. Other wise it's just a glass of milk. They took away the pretzel fondue. The good bartenders and cooks are at fish gaucho and they haven't replaced them. The steak in the steak and shrooms has been dry and gross. And my last straw, the chicken pot pie.... One of the best chicken pot pies I've ever had. Partly because of the amazing pie top. So buttery and delicious. Well, I ordered it today, it's just the soup part and some mashed potatoes. That's it! How do you call it a pie? It's effing creamy chicken soup! And it now has pearl onions. Which would be fine. Except they put in soooo many. Every bite had at least 3 onions in it. So that's all I could taste. I had to pick out a lot of them. And there was barely any chicken. But it was like 15 bucks! I would give them negative stars if I could. It's one thing to have unimpressive food, but when you set a standard for yourself that was really high, and then change everything because of a new restaurant, it's worse. I will not be going here anymore. read more

Thank you for our day. We wanted to watch the Seahawks and you provided awesome. Service was great Thank you Summer.

Only in Paso Robles and only at Pappy's can the girls not decide on which glass of wine to drink because they are all that good. Thanks to our Irish Pub across the park for the Super Bowl... Don't forget the pretzel, the wings or the fish tacos!! read more

I was extremely disappointed the last time I went to Pappy's. My best friend and I went on Thursday 9/15 for a drink around 9:30 since online it listed them open till 11:00. We got there and went to the bar to order, we were the only people at the bar who obviously needed to order a drink, the other people sitting at it had drinks already in front of them and yet the bartender ignored us. So for about 10 mins we stood there waiting, and then a group of people who were clearly friends with the bartender came in. He served ALL of them prior to us even though we had been there first and then tried to continue ignoring us until my best friend loudly stated what B.S. this was. And then it got WORSE. The bartender checked our ID's and because we're recently 21, and our ID's haven't expired yet they are upright instead of sideways. A man in the group of the bartender's friends just couldn't understand why our ID's looked like that so he asked, in a rude manner, to see them. The bartender handed this complete stranger my ID and my best friend's ID!! Are you kidding me?? That's my personal info on there not for him to go handing to some complete stranger. It was very violating and uncomfortable. How dare he go handing my ID to some strange man. I will not be going back anytime soon. This bartender has no idea what he's doing and is obviously awful at his job. It was such an awkward, and uncomfortable experience. read more

So frustrating... we arrived (party of 4) on a Sunday @ 10:30 am. Lots of seating open in the sidewalk cafe area, but the waitress out front tells us that it would be a 30 minute wait. No other people were waiting or standing around. We asked for coffee while we wait but she would not allow us to purchase coffee unless "we were a seated guest" this was crazy. So then the same waitress out front on the sidewalk gives us very minimal directions to their coffee shop 2 blocks away, which we never found. She also asked us for our cell number to text us when our table was ready however the only text we ever received was a "welcome" text as we walked away from her to find the coffee. We returned 27 minutes later to see her seating several groups and she didn't even remember who we were until we stated that we never received her text to be seated. She argued with us that she had sent it and that we would now have to wait another 20 minutes before a waitress could take our order. Needless to say I won't be back and I found a much better cup of coffee and breakfast and wonderful wait-staff at the nearby diner- Margie's Diner. Skip pappys all-together people. Nothing to see here. read more

I love the Kilt! Best bar in Paso Robles - fun atmosphere and great bar food! I'm a little disappointed that they took the Ahi Egg Rolls off the menu, and the wait staff definitely leaves room for improvement. I love the Irish Nachos and Pub & Cheese. read more

Im a local and i eat at the Kilt often but i recently had a very unpleasant experience while dining with my family. As i was waiting in line with my daughter for the womens restroom i overhead an abundant amount of profanity coming from the kitchen. As i glanced into the kitchen i noticed a middle aged man with a ponytail handling chicken without the protection of gloves. It made me feel that the food was unsanitary. Not sure when my next visit will be......if ever! read more

My buddies and I came here on a Thursday night for a drink or two. There were only four patrons at the bar and two bartenders (I'm clueless as to why there were two employees behind the bar, given the lack of business). It took both bartenders, who were merely standing around to polish the wine glasses, 4.37 minutes (yes, I timed them) to acknowledge us. I was unimpressed with the service. When one of the bartenders took noticed of us, she was rude and unwelcoming, especially when she gave us and took away our tab. As a college student and coming from a city, I expected more hospitality and warmth from a small town like Paso Robles. Although the other patrons were friendly, the service and bartenders were not. This bar/restaurant was horrendous. read more

Anytime I am in Paso Robles, I stop in Pappy McGregor's. The food is always good and the place has a great casual vibe. Additionally, I had my wedding after party at Pappy McGregor's and everything was better than I expected. Everything went so smoothly and they were very accommodating to what we wanted. We went with the taco bar option and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and saw two men making tacos to order on a taco cart. Many people said that they were some of the best tacos that they have ever had. Also, we got to choose what the bar got stocked with prior to the day. All the staff were great, even when people were getting a little rowdy. Everyone loved it and had a lot of fun! read more

It has all the looks of being a promising option but their staff and below average food for the price make it a poor choice. The drinks are very over priced with mixed drinks being light on the alcohol. I've been here three times with each experience being the same. The first time we sat for nearly 30 minutes before getting our order taken. The second time I decided to try out the nightlife atmosphere and was met with most of the staff being rude aside from over priced drinks. The last straw was when I saw a guy get tossed out on the street with his shirt ripped off for literally no reason at all. The bouncers were just trying to start fights. I will never be back and I suggest you don't step foot in this place either. Poor behavior should not be rewarded. read more

Came in for lunch and the place was pretty empty. Our service was really slow, food came out wrong and then there was a bug in my food!

We celebrated my daughter 27th birthday hereon a Saturday night. They accommodated a large party of 25+ people for dinner and we rented out the back cabana for the party after dinner. For a large party they offer a limited menu of hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, etc.. The food and service was good. Renting the cabana in the back was perfect for our large group. We were able to decorate the cabana and have fun without fighting the crowds. The band played oldies rock-n-roll and the DJ started up around 10pm. read more

I am a responsible pet owner. I called a week ago to confirm that my 7 lb dog would be welcome on St Patrick's Day. We were going to be wine tasting and we wanted to stop in for a beer and their delicious street tacos before heading home. When I walked up to the front door with my dog in hand, they said we could sit on the front patio. Great! 30 minutes later, "Security" came up to me and said that we had to leave. I said my husband just ordered tacos, could we stay until we finished eating. We had to move from a tall table to the bar tables. The group that replaced us included one very loud, very belligerent, very obnoxious drunk guy. So, we HAD to leave yet my dog on my lap had not barked, had not bothered ANYONE. Either you are dog friendly or you're not. Very disappointed. When someone calls a week in advance to make sure bringing a dog would be okay, have a clear policy in effect. Dog owners have to plan our agenda. Pappy Mc Gregor's.....quiet dogs have to go, drunk assholes can stay. read more

Love Pappys!! My husband I go as often as possible. We just had our wonderful son and needed a date night. Pappys has great drinks, great food selections, and the staff is the best I have seen. My husband and I were there on Saturday night the place was getting full as it always is so we thought we would sit at the bar. We sat on the other side (smaller bar) it was full as well. There was one big table near the window that was pretty loud. They were watching a football game on tv and drinking and laughing having a great time. I started to notice one of the girls and a guy got very touchy then would walk away. They were gone for a bit outside in the back when I saw a waitress come in (looking upset) then a little later I saw the manager talk with the table and then walk away. From that point on that table was very rude they started getting louder and obnoxious! Every time this poor waitress walked by they would make rude comments about her or the place. Mind you this table was a table of 40 year olds. They should know not to be so rude. At one point I heard one of the guys say "almost had it till that bitch made us get out" I could only assume this couple has disappeared to the back bathroom for some inappropriate acts in the RESTAURANT restroom! Other patrons at the bar started to notice the tables comments about the waitress and you could tell we're getting uncomfortable. Finally the table was talked to again but this time by two managers. The table wasn't happy but I was! They started to make my one night out with my husband horrible! All I was doing was listening to this awful table instead of paying attention to my husband. I just want to say THANK YOU to the staff at Pappys for standing up for your employees and keeping it classy. I will always come back. read more

The food was really good. I had the halibut and chips, and the halibut pieces were thick. There were 3 pieces but they were filling and delicious so it was enough. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and tomato bisque which he said were good. The only thing is the service was a little lacking. Our server was friendly but he didn't write anything down. Consequently the lemon we requested with the water wasn't there, the garlic fries I asked for didn't have garlic, my husband had requested bacon with his burger and it wasn't there, and he asked to exchange his fries for tomato bisque but he got the fries. The bartender brought our drinks, and a girl brought our food who corrected all the mistakes. She took my husband's fries and brought him his soup, then she took my fries and brought back a plate of bacon for the burger and a cup of garlic fries, although it was just minced garlic thrown on top of my fries which all fell off when I picked up the fries. So what am I tipping our server for? All he did was take our order, ask if everything was ok, and bring us our bill. He didn't actually SERVE us anything. I hope he shares his tip with the other staff who helped him. I will say though that he owned up to his mistakes and didn't charge us for the bacon or tomato bisque, so kudos to him for that. So for these reasons I couldn't give this place 5 stars. But I would come back because the food and drinks were good (I had a cucumber blueberry vodka drink that was good). The service was friendly and pretty fast, but maybe that was because we were here at 3:30 PM on a Sunday during non-peak season. I would give them another chance. read more

We were in Paso Robles this weekend for a competition with our dog, so naturally had to sit outdoors for meals. We had a heckuva time finding someplace that would take us because their patios were crowded. But we managed to get seated at the rail out front at Pappy McGregor's. They didn't bother to tell us that there was a large private party happening on the back patio -- we figured that out when 2 couples started talking about it right over our heads. By that time, we had already waited about 10 minutes to place a drink order and another 15 or 20 minutes to get our drinks. The server took our food order when we got our drinks and then we waited and waited and waited. About 45 minutes later, she delivered lukewarm mac and cheese and an only slightly warmer burger. The food was just adequate. At first, I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt because of the large party in the back. But then I read some reviews and saw that poor service seems to be an issue at this place. Over 90 minutes to get not great food and 2 beers? I don't think so! We won't be back. read more
