Let me just preface this by saying, I knew 'jack diddley' about this place till my cousin took me there, so I owe her all the thanks and praise for that. Then, of course, one would need to thank the bar for their drinks and presentations, which are awesome. You need a bit of showmanship to perform and serve at a place like this. Ok, here we go. Tucked away on a back street in Paso lies this interesting and very amazing venue. I would have never imagined in my wildest dreams going to a place like this, let alone what was inside. To be honest, I at first felt like I was entering the twilight zone, the first time I came here. In the back of my mind, I was thinking, " Is this what it felt like going to something like this during prohibition times? Now, in this post, I will not share all about your entrance, etc., into this place, as that takes the fun out of it, but I must add that if you are in the Paso area, this is a must on your list. Let's go back and recreate yesteryear, a very intimate and very exclusive, club-like atmosphere. You never know who is watching you; it's all that mystery. Does it feel a bit like the game CLUE"? Our visit to 1122 was like taking a step back in time! From the bartenders in their vests and hats, dimmed lighting and 'ol timey music playing in the background, everything is legendary. No phones allowed, so you are completely free from distractions and can completely enjoy the intimate experience. We went shortly after opening hours, as we did not have a reservation. Our wait was short and we were soon seated at the bar enjoying our signature cocktails. Love the atmosphere and the fact they are using cocktail smokers and absinthe fountains in front of you. I can see why The 1122 is considered to be in the top 50 speakeasy bars. A must visit and cool experience in Paso Robles. read more

We visited here on 02/15/2026 with a reservation for a party of two at 7pm. Honestly, it felt good to skip the line which was about 20 people deep upon our arrival. We heard that many of the people in line were waiting over 2 hours. MAKE A RESERVATION. It is well worth it. Here, you are limited to about a 60 to 90 minute experience. You also will have to lock up your phones in a pouch (which you keep with you), as photos are not allowed. What an awesome place. This experience is limited for a reason. It is special from the moment you walk in the door. You are greeted outside, given the brief instructions and then escorted to your seat. There are about 8 barstools and then room for maybe 20 more at tables by the bar. However, I noticed that they did not bring it to 100% capacity, which made the experience even more special. Also, the prices of the drinks are NOT that bad, particularly given the type of experience. All of the employees and bartenders were super friendly. I had the Clarified Grasshopper for my first drink, which was absolutely delicious. It kind of tasted like a thin mint cookie in a glass. I then moved to a non-alcoholic canned soda, which was also pretty yummy; however, not made in house (It was pineapple passionfruit) My Husband had the Deadbolt to start, and then followed with the Butter Pecan Old Fashioned. For starters, this venue only seats 25 ish people at a time, so be prepared to wait in a long line on peak nights. Pretty sure my party waited at least 30 if not 45 min. Also if you're bigger than a party of 4, there's really no guarantee you'll be seated all together so might be better off to buy a front of the line reservation pass. Also the booths and tables are extremely uncomfortable, tight for 4 people, and the music/lighting is extremely sleepy. Once you're inside the library room, they lock your phone up in a Yonder bag so you can't take photos/videos of your cool cocktails which is also super lame for us Yelpers. Not sure how some of these folks got photos inside the bar based on some photos I've seen online. Then the host/hostess takes you inside to the bar which is dimly lit and definitely feels very prohibition era, including the music which was a bit sleepy. Once seated, you send one person from your party up to the bar to order drinks which I found to be kind of annoying considering I could barely even get out of my seat. I got the Sesamiso which was presented with a cloche smoker which was very much a showstopper and I wish I had a video of it. I appreciated the interesting flavor combo of rye whiskey, miso, and sesame oil, but in all honesty I've had better Smokey old fashioned cocktails with unique flavor profiles while living in Vegas. Waited outside for 15 minutes, when we got inside after a lecture about a 1 hour max visit that would include a 20 minute warning to leave. Upon entering we saw the bar top was empty and about 9 other patrons were on sofas. So much for being busy, insert eye roll here. The drinks were $18 and ridiculously minuscule. The staff was very unfriendly and cold. Not so much as a smile or courteous gesture from any of the staff. You could hear them sh*t talking about the customers behind the bar. The bar top consists of sitting on a pinhead style seat that is fixed to the floor, which is very uncomfortable. I gave it a one star for originality, but I would never go back to this place again, I absolutely do not recommend this place. read more

After our dinner at Hatch, we asked for bar recommendations from two people, and both times they suggested 1122. I already had it bookmarked on my Yelp list, but I did not plan ahead and did not make a reservation, so I was not sure how it would go. We decided to just walk over and see if we could get in. To get to the speakeasy, you walk down an alley and find it tucked in the back, with large, cute fire lanterns marking the entrance. We arrived around 7:30, and there were a few people in line. We asked if walk ins were allowed, and the host let us know they are always welcome; you just have to wait. We only waited about 10 minutes to get in. They will check your ID, even if you look old enough, and they do verify that it is valid and not expired. So be sure to bring it with you. (Not typically an issue for the younger crowd, but I sometimes leave mine behind if I am not driving, and I look 100; so just a heads up!) When you walk in, the foyer and introduction area are adorable. They open a bookcase to bring you into the main area, which is small, quaint, and full of charming details. The vibe is warm and cozy, and they really commit to the whole 1920's experience. They do collect your phone and seal it in a small bag, so you cannot take pictures; just capture the moments mentally. We have been to several speakeasies, and sometimes the drinks can feel a little too intense; either overly alcoholic, too bitter, or too unusual. But my drink, the NTS, was perfect! It was the most balanced drink I have ever had; not too sweet and not too bitter. It was absolutely beautiful and delicious. Even the bathrooms were adorable and super clean. The only thing to note is that this speakeasy felt a bit more open than others we have been to; it was not quite as hidden or underground in feel. Still, I would absolutely recommend this place to both visitors and locals. It was a great experience from start to finish. read more

This was our 3rd visit to Paso this year, and we (along with another couple) ALWAYS make 1122 a MUST stop during our weekend. Matt, the door man always has a smile and makes you feel welcomed. Matt, behind the bar (we love that guy) makes great conversation and drinks. This last trip, we had the pleasure of being served by Annie, she's so nice, however we felt like there's room for improvement on her cocktails. Maybe we're just used to having Matt tend for us, not sure. But regardless, 1122 will always be a stop for us when in Paso. And side note, the NO phone policy is much appreciated. read more

Intimate speakeasy with delicious drinks! It's located in the alley behind Pappy McGregors. I highly suggest going right when they open or make a reservation as there is limited seating. When you enter, you're brought into a small room that looks like a library. You can have a photo taken in that room, but after that your phones are locked up in a bag for the duration of your visit. As you leave, the staff will unlock the bag. You order drinks at either end of the bar and someone brings your drinks. First speakeasy I've had to do that at. They do not let you split the bill so plan on one card for the tab. read more

We never went. We had a so called "skip the lines", so called reservation but had to wait outside, and decided not to go in. This was so bogus, to pay $110 ahead of time, not being to get in right away than having to pay for there expensive, probably watered down , or weak cocktails at a high rate. No, not me. It sounded good when reservations were made, but they do not, up front, tell you your payment only gets you in supposedly faster. It's on the bottom line. We've visited a few other speakeasies in the past, this one is exceptional. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. I ordered a vodka martini, they asked all the right questions, stuffed blue cheese olives made in-house, it was delicious. My husband ordered the gin and tonic, he said it was unbelievable, rosemary garnish made the cocktail beautiful. The decor was elegant and moody that transported you to a time and place of the speakeasies in that era. I would highly recommend you visit next time you're in the area. Horrible experience! Still shocked that the doorman was such a jerk and has received similar complaints here. He is obviously a problem. Our group of professionals in their 50's arrived eager for an awesome experience. The rude doorman claimed our party was "inebriated" and couldn't come in. Nobody was remotely drunk or intoxicated and we tried to reason with him or solve the misinterpretation. He was abrupt and determined with his power trip and made the establishment look incredibly baddddddd. He went way out of his way to screw up the easy job he had of letting a pretty great bunch of spenders into the bar. Oddly enough, he seemed to enjoy every minute of turning us away like this is a regular practice that he does to elevate his stature. It was so weird and pretty scary that the ownership doesn't take any action or preventative measures. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. There's plenty of other awesome bars in town. This was our second time visiting the speakeasy, and we'll make it a point to get a reservation each time we visit Paso Robles. It's that good! Very cozy, only about 20-25ppl max capacity. The bar decor is full of bottles, which is appropriate, as you can order your fave go-to drink or choose from their featured cocktail menu(leather bound, of course) there's usually no phone policy, but we visited on a nite where that wasn't the case. We tried the Whiskey Sour, classic Old Fashioned, Butter Pecan Old Fashioned, and Manhattan. Each about $18 or so. Each drink was amazing, I particularly thought the butter pecan had a sweet addition that was pleasant without being overpowering. Service is as speedy as possible, their hand making each cocktail, so order at the bar, and chat til they deliver it to you. A 90 minute max for your table, but do t worry, that's plenty for a couple drinks, conversation, and a great experience for all! read more

We heard about this place the first day we stepped into town so we decided that we had to try it out. It is behind the Irish pub bar. It's first come first serve on seating. I do know that two days of the week they do take reservations we did not have a reservation. They told us 40 minute wait depending on how long people take inside but they do give you a I think 45 minute seating time to have drinks and experience the speakeasy bar. The line does creep up fast so I would suggest going early as soon as we got in they take your phones and put them in a bag and lock them. You're able to hold your phone but can't access it until you leave or go to the bathroom it was definitely a cool experience of the way the chairs and tables were set up along with bar seating. Eleven Twenty-Two was recommended to us by some people at another local bar after talking about how my wife and I love visiting speakeasies wherever we go, so we decided to make a reservation and give it a go! We made our way down a dark alley off pine street and found ourselves facing a ramp leading up to a door with gas lamps on either side. The vibe of this entrance was very simple yet so awesome. The little sliding hatch in the door slid open and we told the guy (Matt) that we had a reservation for the evening. Matt opened the door for us which led to a small room with books on the walls and took a moment to go over the house rules as well as lock our phones up. We were then led through another door into the speakeasy itself where we were seated at a small table in the corner. It was a very dark and intimate setting, but the vibe and decor really brought the whole thing together and made for a memorable evening. We were given a cocktail menu in the form of a leather book as well as a second leather book with pricing for the sprits they had behind the bar which is quite an impressive collection. Throughout the night we tried a number of different drinks primarily the bourbon-based drinks since that's what we enjoy most, but we also had a glass of the EH Taylor Warehouse C which we'd only had one other time as well as an Old Fitzgerald 15-year. Everything about Eleven Twenty-Two checked all our boxes and we had a fantastic time. Matt was prompt at clearing glasses as well as making sure we always had water and the bartenders both did a fantastic job and seeing that everyone was getting taken care of both at the bar as well as those of us ordering from tables. We sat at the bar with dim lights and bottles of delicious liquor on the walls illuminated to perfection and class. After waiting in line to get in with no reservation and a need to disconnect from this cruel world I asked for a gin martini dirty and extra olives. Eleven twenty two is a must when I come to visit Paso! It's a great speakeasy with chill vibes and great cocktails( even though it's surrounded by wine country). The first time I came here was 2019 and then again in 2023! Both times were memorable and I loved trying different cocktails. Our last time coming here we were able to come on a night where we were allowed to use our phones since they usually have a no phone policy. You guys must try the butter pecan old fashioned!! It was delicious and strong and one of my favorite version of an old fashioned. A few others I've tried are the whiskey sour, Manhattan, the Grasshopper. I highly suggest making reservations on the nights they accept them so you aren't waiting too long! We've been able to park close and a couple blocks away depending on if it's a busy night in the area. read more

Unexpectedly got this recommendation while we were out at dinner one night, and so on a whim I booked it. I didn't realize lol, that if you purchase tickets, you're getting front of the line tickets. Apparently you can just wait in line. Clearly I wasn't paying very much attention to any of the description of what I was purchasing. But it wound up being worth it. It was very interesting, we got brought through another restaurant, we were waiting for about 10 minutes. And then we were let in. They do not let you bring your phones out, you have to put them in a secure package, the entirety of your time inside. If you are allowed in, you get 90 minutes and then it's time to let someone else in. The capacity is 28 people - it's a small place, but that makes it better to watch the show as the bartenders do their magic turning various fluids into tasty drinks. They hit capacity just as we arrived, so we had to wait 30 to 40 minutes until someone left to open a seat. Some notes: You wait outside. No, you can't come in to wait. No spoilers on what happens after you get into the vestibule. That's part of the fun. You WILL BE CARDED. We're older, and they card EVERYONE - without fail. Decent speakeasy with a couple of oddities. Unlike most speakeasies I've been to this establishment requires you to walk up to the bar and place your drink order versus having a server take drink orders. We were not aware of this policy and sat for about 15 minutes before realizing we had to walk up to the bar and place the order. The drinks were good but not great either. The margarita was surprisingly below average as it's a simple drink and hard to mess up. The old fashioned was very sweet.
