This is our 2nd visit to Pappy McGregor's and it did not disappoint! We came on a Tuesday around 4:30pm so getting a table was instantaneous. Our server promptly brought waters and answered any questions we had. It was happy hour, so we started with the Crispy Brussel Sprouts & Pepper Jack Bacon Tater Tots. The Brussel Sprouts were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The Tater Tots had a good kick to them and were very flavorful. For our meal, we ordered the Caprese Sandwich with Garlic Fries and Prime Dip with a side salad. The Caprese was so delicious! The basil pesto balanced well with the fresh mozzarella and ciabatta. The garlic fries were well seasoned and crispy. The Prime Dip was tasty. The au jus elevated the flavors within the sandwich. Food was great. Service was spectacular. Great customer service (shout out to Sydney our fav server!) the food never disappoints, it's been consistently delicious since we moved here a few years ago, which has got to be tough in the food industry. Even with busy Art in the park across the street, our food order didn't take long and was a hit with our out of town relatives. It was a pretty cold night when he stopped in at Pappys. We were seated on the right side of the main restaurant. This area was more of a bar setting. Because of the weather, we both were looking for some comfort food. We ordered the chicken pot pie and the meatloaf dinners. Both were delicious!!! This place is ludicrous. My brother walks in, and because he was thinking about what he wanted to drink the bartender refused to serve him. I tried to nicely talk with the bartender. I told him I respect that you would turn down service to someone who appeared impaired, but if you turn people down as often as you say you do. Maybe you consider a breathalyzer because my brother is stone cold sober. He was just thinking about what he wanted. He said I don't want to question his mental state. I said but you already have and now your putting the restaurant in risk by judging him because he took 10 seconds to think of what he wanted which was a bloody Maria so he said bloody Mary but with Tequila. He argued with me when trying to give some helpful advice and was a compete tool. I'll never go to this place again! read more

This was our second visit to Pappy's, and it looks like it's going to become a regular spot for us when we visit Paso. Its prime location in downtown overlooking the park makes it ideal for a meal after walking around. The seating is mainly at high top chairs and tables, though the chairs have backs and are fairly comfortable. Our server was really attentive and helpful in recommending both drinks and food. We tried two cocktails on this visit, The Final Say and Fairest of Them All. We all preferred the latter, but we've yet to have a bad drink here. As for the food, their sandwiches and burgers are definitely the main entrees I'd recommend! Their garlic fries are really heavy on the garlic (a win in my book), so keep that in mind if you're torn between those and original. Later in the evening and/or during a big game this place can get louder and rowdier, so if you're looking for a quieter meal I'd recommend coming in a bit earlier. All in all, Pappy's has become a really solid dining spot in Paso! read more

Waited in line for 45 mins to get into the speakeasy which is part of this place. I needed to use the bathroom after waiting and waiting but the Dude at door said I could not go in without paying $5 cover charge. Seriously I am 70 yrs old, just needed to use the facilities but nope. So I left Paso, returned to my hotel in Atascadero and will not spend any more money in Paso again. Terrible service. Very unprofessional employees. Seemed to only want to help people that they knew at the bar. Drinks took forever since they kept going and helping thwir buddies. Saw them let multiple people in without their IDs which kind of scared me. And after reading other reviews I'm confused because the girls who didn't show ID looked 21 at best. Every time we come to Paso, we eat at Taste! But this time, we figured we needed to branch out. Enter Pappy McGregor's. This pub style restaurant filled with classic comforts was perfect for a mid day meal. We arrived at opening time and were immediately seated. They have a few different dining area options with some outdoor seating as well as space to sit at the bar. The space did fill up real quick though! I ordered the Reuben sandwich and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meat. The sandwich was filled with thick and juicy cuts of meat with a delicious slaw and sauce on top. The side salad was actually a big highlight as well. I can't think of any other place I've been to where I thought the side salad was the standout but it was really good. It came with a creamy balsamic that was perfect. I could've eaten an entire plate of the simple side salad and been delighted. We also ordered the short rib jalapeño burger. It was thick and meaty! Our waitress said it was her favorite and it didn't disappoint. We will definitely add Pappy's to our Paso rotation! I can't wait to try the meatloaf next. read more

GREAT FOOD! We first stopped at a nearby Steak House with the goal of a nice family out only to be told they don't take walk-ins (restaurant was nearly empty). When we sat down at PM's the restaurant was busy but not full. We ordered calamari to start with that was both crunchy and soft inside, not chewy. Then we ordered steak, meatloaf, lobster Mac and the shrimp pasta. EVERYTHING was exceptional. Steal was perfectly cooked. meatloaf was very tasteful and perfectly paired with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. Lobster Mac and Cheese was everything we hoped for. And Shrimp pasta was in a beautiful, delicate cream and wine sauce that perfectly complimented the wonderful pasta. This is not pub food, it's the real deal. I never have meatloaf dining out, but our server said it was unbelievable and he was accurate, excellent preparation, texture and flavor. Meatloaf was served on creamy mashed potatoes with asparagus and carrots, a winner for sure. Plenty of seating indoors and out, it was a very warm evening, we opted to stay in and relax in the AC. Popped into Pappy's my first night in town and I am glad I did! I sat at the bar, as I usually do at places, and right off the bat the bar staff was super friendly! I put my order in for the Pappy Burger and it arrived very quickly and was absolutely DELICIOUS! The garlic fries were awesome as well. Wow is all I can say to this very unexpected pleasure while winetasting in Paso Robles. Food: One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Just the right size, not too much and cooked to medium rare perfection! If you get a burger you have to try the garlic fries. Delicious! Service: just right. Even though they were super busy amidst the Covid pandemic and a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, we were greeted, sat immediately and greeted by a very pleasant server. Was hopping on our way back to resort. Hostesses we're super amazing and professional, explained that bar seating was open but you can't linger around bar until after 9PM.
