Recently experienced dinner at Pappas Bros Steak House, second visit. All in all it was a good experience. The servers were knowledgeable and attentive. The ambiance was quiet, dark and intimate. I started with an excellent old fashioned. Then we tried the beefsteak tomato as an appetizer. For dinner, we enjoyed tender filet mignon, creamy au gratin potatoes and tasty broccolini. And for dessert, we topped it off with the pecan pie - which seems to be a cake with pecans on top- it was warm and tasty. Pappas Bros is on my Houston's top steakhouse list. I recommend it.

I'm not the biggest steak connoisseur so take this review with a grain of salt I suppose Made a reservation for 2 at 6pm on a Saturday and when we arrived we had to wait about 5-10 min for them to prep our table. Not a big deal honestly. Our server Peter was very nice and seemed knowledgeable about the restaurant and the menu. I felt that the service was a good mix of being attentive without being overbearing. We tried the crab cakes to start which were yummy with the accompanying sauce. The filet mignon was cooked well (again idk steak that well but it seemed good to me) with basic seasoning. The haricot vert was also cooked very basically but I love a vegetable with my meal so I enjoyed it a lot. I also tried the lychee martini which I thought was alright but definitely a bit overpriced for what it was. Definitely a special occasion kind of restaurant. The ambiance feels kind of old school (not in a bad way) and the attire is definitely more nicer/business casual

Classic flavors, a bit pricey. The most memorable dish was the dry aged ribeye. Perfectly cooked, nice crunch, aromatic dry aged flavor. We also got their crab cakes and crab mac and cheese. Good dollop of crab in each dish but nothing life changing. Very classic American flavors, and I would dare say the mac and cheese was a bit bland. For the price, portion was rather small - just enough for two. Dessert menu also contains all the classics: pie, cheesecake, creme brulee. Pecan pie was good portion but very very sweet.

We were warmly greeted and taken to our table by Catherine. She is lovely. Welcoming, friendly and professional. She wished us a happy anniversary, which was a nice touch. We were celebrating our 32 anniversary. We've lived in Houston area for 20+ years but somehow have not dined at Pappas Steak. We saw Chris Shepherd loves it and decided it was anniversary worthy! The food was outstanding. We are foodies. My favorite places has been Steak 48, Brennen's and maestros. This is by far the best steak I've had. My hubby and I agreed. Amazing. The sides were good, although I do love 48's crème brûlée corn. We had the au gratin potatoes. And crab cakes. We also had few cocktails and wine. All were lovely. Leslie was our server. She was attentive without hovering. I'd ask for her for our next visit because her service could not have been better. She's an asset to PS. Big shoutout to Angel, Carlos and Alberto for keeping our water glasses filled, clearing our table and boxing our food. These 3 gentlemen were professional and very good. Very. The only negative is we were seated in the back room and it had a TV. Baseball game. And 2 other tables were cheering and color-commentating the game. We are Astro fans. But this was our anniversary so it was not romantic. That was a bummer.

Very well Had such a great experience at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. The atmosphere was classy and welcoming, the service was attentive, and the food was amazing from start to finish. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly.

The steak filet duo with crab bernaise and mushroom was outstanding!! The mountain of onion rings was eye popping. Their house salad was interesting with a pleasant edgy dressing and roots with greens. Since it was our birthdays' dinner, the complimentary birthday treats were extra special. Overall, a lovely evening!!

Over the top best steakhouse scene in Houston! The service, food, cocktails, wine, and lounge atmosphere (in the front bar area) ranks high. Live pianist playing classic lounge tunes on a baby grand set the stage, along with super attentive service from Valerie, Sara, and manager Jack. I started w my usual Old Fashioned and transitioned to a Brunello with my meal. The scallop starter was perfect as it has a hint of spice. While the daily chef special sounded amazing, I opted for the Bar Entree Filet, medium rare, and mashed. Another stellar Houston culinary experience for the books.

We took the kids out for a nice dinner after reading reviews indicating Papa Bros. is kid friendly. And they were. The hostess and wait staff made us feel comfortable and welcome, and we saw several other families dining. This is a your typical clubby, dark wood, white tablecloth steakhouse. Pianist is the bar. Huge wine list. Excellent cocktails. Outstanding service but not overbearing or pretentious. The food was excellent as well. We started with the octopus and salads, then steaks and sides. My wagyu was melt in your mouth delicious. My daughter's lamb chops were perfectly cooked and flavorful. My husband said his New York strip was good but he feels like Ruth's Chris is more flavorful - maybe it's all the butter. Two of our children opted for the kids menu filet Mignon which was an amazing deal - 6 oz. Filet with fries for $30. The adults didn't have room for dessert but two kids ordered ice cream, which they enjoyed. We would return.

I've always loved the Pappas chain and regularly visit Pappas Seafood, so for my birthday I decided to finally try Pappas Steakhouse--and it did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, the entrance is beautiful and sets the tone for an upscale, luxurious dining experience. The service was very attentive from start to finish, making the evening feel special and well taken care of. The steaks were incredibly juicy, tender, and truly melted in my mouth. The sides were very well portioned and perfect for sharing. The octopus was not what I expected--in the best way possible--exquisite, flavorful, and a pleasant surprise. To end the night, the chocolate cake was absolutely delicious and the perfect finish to an amazing birthday dinner.

Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is absolutely worth every bit of the praise it receives. If you are looking for a special occasion destination or simply want a steak prepared exactly how it should be this is it. Dining alone here still felt like a full experience from start to finish and never once felt overlooked or rushed. The service goes above and beyond and truly sets the standard for what hospitality at this level should be. Every interaction was polished attentive and thoughtful and it felt as though genuine care was given to making the meal exceptional. This is the level of service that should be expected in a restaurant of this caliber and here it is executed flawlessly. Each course was fantastic and memorable. The New York strip was cooked perfectly medium rare and packed with deep rich flavor. It was balanced beautifully and delivered exactly what a great steak should. Every selection throughout the meal felt purposeful and well executed. The wine list is as good as it gets and fully deserving of its reputation. The depth and quality of the selection elevate the entire experience and make it easy to find something truly special to accompany the meal. I cannot recommend Pappas Bros. Steakhouse enough. Whether dining alone or with others this is a place that delivers excellence at every level and stands as a benchmark for what a great steakhouse experience should be.

1/24/26. This is what we ended up with. They added the second half still no claws/legs.

My husband and I are longtime, loyal Pappas customers and dine across multiple Pappas restaurants more than twice a month. Lobster is my favorite, and I've been ordering it at Pappas for years, so I'm very familiar with how it has traditionally been served. On Friday, 1/23/26, we went to celebrate our shared birthday and ordered a 4 lb lobster at $40 per pound. After being seated, we were informed the restaurant was experiencing electrical issues--steamers and fryers were down, the dining room was extremely cold, and staff mentioned the restaurant might not remain open. After waiting over an hour and a half, the lobster arrived and it was half a lobster cut lengthwise, with no legs and only one claw. The manager stated this now represents a "whole" lobster, which we found unacceptable given the price and wait. Before a replacement arrived, fire alarms repeatedly went off with evacuation announcements. Exhausted, and with my 76-year-old husband not feeling well, we asked for the lobster to be boxed to go. The next morning, we found it was simply two halves combined, dry and disappointing. Although the meal was comped, our birthday dinner was not the experience we expected. I appreciated the manager calling afterward to apologize. I sincerely hope Pappas reconsiders this method of serving lobster and restores the quality and presentation it has always been known for. Photos included for reference.

My thoughts: This is a traditional long standing family own chain restaurant that is been around the Houston TX area through out the up and down of the economy. And any restaurant can survive the harsh business world is A OK in my book. Plus they do serve good steak and maintain a reasonable price. Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 5 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and back side with parking lot parking. With Valet parking. 2) Decoration : (4 Point) - They still have the original decoration. Clean and looks good 3) Price: ( 2 point)- The price is competitive but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is good, food taste is good and portions are good. 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of steak house they serve is pretty close to the way it was prepare all over TX and better. Not bad! Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. Go foodies Total max is 25 Score 18 Stars = 72% round up to 3 stars

Very high end restaurant Very nice employees. Very very expensive. $19.00 martinis?? C'mon maam Here's the issue; I specifically went there for the turtle gumbo soup. I asked 2 employees if it was good and both looked at me like "seriously? Are you kidding??" Well for $26.90 for beef stew I was to say very very disappointed. I love snapping turtle soup and this was nothing more than Campbell chunky beef stew!!! Yuck. They really need to change their recipe and make it TRUE turtle soup OR simply rename it to beef stew!!!

Scallops and crab cake. Eat the bread under the scallops

Yes. It's not dry aged though.

Do they still allow cigar smoking? I guess it's been many years since we've dined here you used to could smoke cigars at your table and in the bar?

Are there any Creekstone (halal) steak options at this restaurant? And if so, how far in advance does one need to be requested?

Can you share the steaks? They all seem huge!!

There would be no problem sharing your steak. The servers would do anything to accommodate you. If you order the Japanese Wagyu it comes in 2 oz pieces with a 4oz minimum so that would be very easy to share, all sides are family style.

I'm not even a steak person -- I usually order chicken -- but I actually ate a good amount and really enjoyed it. We ordered the sweet potato soufflé, mac & cheese, and corn. Everything was equally good. The sweet potato soufflé was smooth, creamy, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. The mac & cheese was rich with nicely toasted breadcrumbs, and the corn was solid. Only disappointment was the rolls. They weren't bad, just nothing special. Texas Roadhouse still has the best rolls . Service was top tier, and overall Steak 48 absolutely delivered. It's clear the restaurant is very intentional about their food choices. The manager even wrote a personalized birthday card for me and gave us a follow up call the next day to check in on our experience which was very kind of them. In regards to the food, it was delicious but we didn't find it exceptional enough to justify the high price point. The meal started off with complimentary bread service that you could choose with sea salt or garlic parmesan topping. The bread was so fluffy, warm, and comforting. We ordered the Braised Pork Belly, which was surprisingly tender and juicy, and the sauce complimented it very well. We ordered the regular size bone-in KC Strip to share. It was a huge portion and they give you extremely hot plates so that the steak stays warm and sizzly on your plate once you eat it. We were pretty impressed by how juicy and tender it was. The corn creme brulee and Boursin cheese whipped potatoes we had as sides were great complements to the dish. At the end of our meal, they treated us with a complimentary Cookies and Cream Popcorn Sundae which was super unique and really delicious. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you're willing to ball out and celebrate for a special night.

Located in Midtown this cute spot offers good music, fine food, and great ambiance. The mood is set with a soundtrack of classic hits playing in the background, and let's not forget about that bathroom, it's wild! I was greeted warmly from the second I stepped in the door! While I waited for my party to arrive I sat at their bar area and ordered a Pineapple Mule served with a smile. Right off the bat I connected with James , one of the waitstaff who also happened to be serving our table. He was so the BEST! Hands down the most awesome waitstaff I've ever met. He made our time there special. I felt like I've known him for years, and he knew just how to connect with each person in our group! We all fell in love with him instantly! Tonight (likely due to the Valentine's Day crowd) the meal was pre-set for every guest. This meal included bread, salad, and Collette steak in their special sauce, with fries. What blew my mind was that they came around and offered more food to us after finishing our first entree plate! I wasn't expecting that, and was pleasantly surprised. Parking for this location sits right behind the restaurant, a parking garage that is free. Because of the number of shops and restaurants around (an especially since this was Valentines weekend) parking can be at a premium during certain points of the day, so think about that when coming. It is a beautiful place for a girls night out, date night, celebrations, brunch, etc! I had a wonderful time here! An amazing experience for sure. P.S. they give you Bazooka gum at the end of your meal! That brought back good memories for sure! This was my first time coming, and it won't be my last. This place is definitely worth checking out!
