Went there and it had met all expectations. Service and food were great. The steaks are dry aged and menu had plenty of choices.

My husband and I came on Valentine's Day and made a reservation about a week in advance since we figured it'd be busy. When we got there, the staff greeted us and even congratulated us on our anniversary, which was really sweet. Our table was ready right away when we arrived. Within the first few minutes they had brought out the complimentary bread and butter, and let me just say this alone would've made me happy lol. Starter/Drinks: *Strawberry Basil Up Martini - this was strong but refreshing. 7.5/10 *Lychee Martini - amazing 10/10 *Mrs.Robinson - delicious as expected 9/10 *Lobster Deviled Eggs - i, for one, do not like eggs but theseee??!??!! omg I'd sell my left kidney for this! The sweetness of the lobster with the spicy of the bacon is a perfect combination 1000/10 Entree: *12 oz Filet Mignon - ordered these medium rare and they came out perfect! They were so juicy and delicious, it melts in your mouth. ****This would be a 10/10 but I am knocking down a point because it loses all its flavor when reheating it the next day. So 9/10!! *Jumbo Lump Crab Mac and Cheese - this was honestly really good, the mac and cheese was creamy and the crab tastes fresh. You can also order a lobster version of this dish! 10/10 *Mashed Potatoes - its literally a mountain of creamy delicious potatoes. ***Note that this does come with bacon for those who dont eat pork!!!! 10/10 *Baked Potato - my husband said he enjoyed it but he's had better 8.5/10 Dessert: *New York Style Cheesecake - this was the perfect way to end the night. Service at this location is not good. Not sure what has happened, but if you are in for the experience, then this is not the location for you. The bartender was persistently rude and I felt like was more intent on turnover than service. Update: I received a call and a gift card from a corporate rep who said that I would get a call from a manager. Later in the week I received a phone call from Andre Franklin, a manager at the restaurant, who apologized that it has been 2 months and the guest services manager still has not contacted me. Andre said that they addressed the issue but said the conversation was confidential. I asked what issue was addressed and he said they don't want guests to feel like they aren't valued. I said that isn't the issues. I said that the issue is asking guests to move around when they are eating and then giving them attitude when they chose not to relocate. Then he said that the bar tender was instructed not to attempt to relocate guests who are dining at the bar. So, I presume the issue is resolved and I look forward to giving it another try next time. I've been to Pappas Bros. Steakhouse twice. The most recent visit was on a Friday evening for dinner with the family at 7. Their parking lot is valet only which is a pet peeve of mine. We had a reservation and we were seated promptly. Ambiance (4/5): Pappas Bros. Steakhouse has some old school charm which I always appreciate. It's an elegant restaurant. And a large restaurant at that. Despite the size of the restaurant, they were close to capacity. Which makes it a bit overcrowded. I imagine things are better outside of a weekend. Service (4/5): Service overall was friendly and attentive. No complaints. Drinks (4/5): Pappas has an extensive wine list which I feel is the way to go at a steakhouse. We shared an Austrian wine. They do a good job serving wine properly. Food (4.5/5): I've been to a good number of the high-end steakhouses in Houston and they all offer pretty much the same experience in my mind. Pricey, yet delicious, steaks. Family style sides a la carte. I went with the filet mignon (they have two sizes), medium rare (as this is the only legitimate option). And then I shared some potatoes a gratin with the fam. O and before I forget, they serve you with some complimentary bread and butter which is always a nice touch. The steak was perfectly cooked... you can't beat a good steak in my mind. Unlike the traditional preparation of potatoes au gratin, this version had bacon bits. Bacon on anything is a plus in my book. An exceptional meal, but you're going to pay for it. Overall, Pappas in the Galleria area makes for a nice, upscale dinner. read more

Recently experienced dinner at Pappas Bros Steak House, second visit. All in all it was a good experience. The servers were knowledgeable and attentive. The ambiance was quiet, dark and intimate. I started with an excellent old fashioned. Then we tried the beefsteak tomato as an appetizer. For dinner, we enjoyed tender filet mignon, creamy au gratin potatoes and tasty broccolini. And for dessert, we topped it off with the pecan pie - which seems to be a cake with pecans on top- it was warm and tasty. Pappas Bros is on my Houston's top steakhouse list. I'm not the biggest steak connoisseur so take this review with a grain of salt I suppose Made a reservation for 2 at 6pm on a Saturday and when we arrived we had to wait about 5-10 min for them to prep our table. Not a big deal honestly. Our server Peter was very nice and seemed knowledgeable about the restaurant and the menu. I felt that the service was a good mix of being attentive without being overbearing. We tried the crab cakes to start which were yummy with the accompanying sauce. The filet mignon was cooked well (again idk steak that well but it seemed good to me) with basic seasoning. The haricot vert was also cooked very basically but I love a vegetable with my meal so I enjoyed it a lot. I also tried the lychee martini which I thought was alright but definitely a bit overpriced for what it was. Definitely a special occasion kind of restaurant. Classic flavors, a bit pricey. The most memorable dish was the dry aged ribeye. Perfectly cooked, nice crunch, aromatic dry aged flavor. We also got their crab cakes and crab mac and cheese. Good dollop of crab in each dish but nothing life changing. Very classic American flavors, and I would dare say the mac and cheese was a bit bland. We were warmly greeted and taken to our table by Catherine. She is lovely. Welcoming, friendly and professional. She wished us a happy anniversary, which was a nice touch. We were celebrating our 32 anniversary. We've lived in Houston area for 20+ years but somehow have not dined at Pappas Steak. We saw Chris Shepherd loves it and decided it was anniversary worthy! The food was outstanding. We are foodies. My favorite places has been Steak 48, Brennen's and maestros. This is by far the best steak I've had. My hubby and I agreed. Amazing. The sides were good, although I do love 48's crème brûlée corn. We had the au gratin potatoes. And crab cakes. We also had few cocktails and wine. All were lovely. Leslie was our server. She was attentive without hovering. I'd ask for her for our next visit because her service could not have been better. She's an asset to PS. The hostess and wait staff made us feel comfortable and welcome, and we saw several other families dining. This is a your typical clubby, dark wood, white tablecloth steakhouse. Pianist is the bar. Huge wine list. Excellent cocktails. Outstanding service but not overbearing or pretentious. The food was excellent as well. We started with the octopus and salads, then steaks and sides. My wagyu was melt in your mouth delicious. My daughter's lamb chops were perfectly cooked and flavorful. My husband said his New York strip was good but he feels like Ruth's Chris is more flavorful - maybe it's all the butter. My husband and I are longtime, loyal Pappas customers and dine across multiple Pappas restaurants more than twice a month. Lobster is my favorite, and I've been ordering it at Pappas for years, so I'm very familiar with how it has traditionally been served. On Friday, 1/23/26, we went to celebrate our shared birthday and ordered a 4 lb lobster at $40 per pound. After being seated, we were informed the restaurant was experiencing electrical issues--steamers and fryers were down, the dining room was extremely cold, and staff mentioned the restaurant might not remain open. After waiting over an hour and a half, the lobster arrived and it was half a lobster cut lengthwise, with no legs and only one claw. The manager stated this now represents a "whole" lobster, which we found unacceptable given the price and wait. Before a replacement arrived, fire alarms repeatedly went off with evacuation announcements. Exhausted, and with my 76-year-old husband not feeling well, we asked for the lobster to be boxed to go. The next morning, we found it was simply two halves combined, dry and disappointing. Although the meal was comped, our birthday dinner was not the experience we expected. I appreciated the manager calling afterward to apologize. I sincerely hope Pappas reconsiders this method of serving lobster and restores the quality and presentation it has always been known for. My thoughts: This is a traditional long standing family own chain restaurant that is been around the Houston TX area through out the up and down of the economy. And any restaurant can survive the harsh business world is A OK in my book. Plus they do serve good steak and maintain a reasonable price. Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 5 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and back side with parking lot parking. The original uptown Pappa's Brothers Steakhouse is likely the best steakhouse I've been to in my life, and I've been to scores of them all over the United States. Beyond that is a main dining area. We were seated in the small more private side room by chance. It was a certainly hopping for a Monday night. The wait staff and hostess were exceptional. Every one was smiling and happy to be working, super knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The wine list was a tad on the expensive side for identical bottles elsewhere, but you get what you pay for and the onsite sommelier Josh was exceptional. So exceptional in fact that I kept my observation to myself. The bacon wrapped scallops were the best I've had. Eat the bread under the scallops!! The crab cake was very decent. The iceberg lettuce salad with blue cheese was insanely good for such a simple dish. The special for the night was bone in filet mignon topped with cold water lobster and asparagus and mashed. I ordered the NY Strip cooked rare on a warm plate, plus a decadent slice of Midnight Cake on Friday night. Both were spectacular in every way, very delicious, very consistent and high quality. The steak was packed with flavors of rich, fatty beef that wasn't overly fatty either. It was so well-seasoned with a generous amount of salt, black pepper and butter. It was a bit firm on top and yet, very easy to cut all the way through too. The touch of nutty dry-age aroma stood out in the mix. The outer layer was very warm, toasty and not burnt. The inside was cool, contrasting and blueish red in color. One of my 2 favorite desserts here is this midnight cake along with the chocolate marshmallow mousse one. The cake was very chocolaty, dense but soft, moist and perfectly layered in cake to icing ratio. It was full of cocoa vibes and not too sweet, but noticeably fattening. One of the best chocolate cakes I ever had. It's simply so addictive. The scoop of vanilla bean gelato on the side was also good stuff being kind of refreshing and not like most typical boring vanilla ice cream either. The milks sauce n fruit were good to mix as well. People, beware! I suppose just about everything has already been said and written about Houston's premier staple steakhouse. Then again--perhaps not everything. Let's explore together. Bad news first: Gentlemen, you should wear a jacket (business casual or similar). It's not that the well-educated, friendly, professional service crew--or their cool manager--wouldn't let you in or wouldn't serve you. The temperature is simply below room temperature. You should be prepared. Another unusual peculiarity: they don't accept any modern form of payment. No PayPal, no Zelle, no Apple Pay, no Google Pay, no texting. Only cash (the kind that folds--not jiggles) and physical (yeah!) credit cards. I imagine every time the phone rings, they fear it's the '70s calling to ask for their stuff back. I think I might have even seen a fax machine. The cell coverage is good, though. It's all a little strange. What to expect? You'll be greeted by professionals and pampered from the very beginning--doors held open, staff smiling, and truly attentive. Oh, did I mention I wear a prosthesis on one leg? I was seated quickly. Pure relief--no one had to see me go down like a sack of potatoes and make intimate contact between my nose and the floor.. Every time I moved, the guests and staff in this nearly fully booked restaurant parted like the Red Sea to let me through. (I checked--I didn't have foul breath. It was the prosthesis and cane that gave it away.) Deciding on your evening's menu is a breeze. I've tried, on several occasions: asparagus, crab mac & cheese, soupe du jour, crab cakes, filet mignon with sauce béarnaise, and rock lobster. Everything was excellent--served at the right temperature and nicely plated. Not hip-new-age-strange plated, but good-old-boys-Texas plated. Their wine list is short but exclusive, and of course, they seem capable of making you any cocktail you desire. Service is a little slower than usual--and I love it. It's perfect for a date night, giving you time to talk and be pampered. And they listen if you tell them you'd like to be served faster or slower. Pros, eh? If you've read this far, you may have forgotten about the payment situation. After one frugal but exquisite solo dinner, I realized I didn't have any of those ancient payment methods with me. The very understanding manager was a real darling: "Just come back tomorrow to settle the account." Not just pay--settle the bill like a real gentleman. So I returned, settled--and settled into the cozy chair at my favorite corner table for another perfect dinner. This time, I had a three-course meal assembled entirely from the side dish menu. Try it. It's worth it. I always try to give my stars in a way that reflects whether I got what I paid for. Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is not cheap--neither in the damage it does to your wallet nor in the experience, service, quality, and pampering it provides. This is, quite simply: 5 stars. read more

We had a fantastic experience at this steakhouse. The food was excellent and the service truly stood out. Although there was a little hiccup with our food taking longer than expected, our very kind waiter more than made up for it by bringing us a crab cake while we waited, and it turned out to be one of the best crab cakes I've ever had. Our waiter, an older African American gentleman (I wish I could remember his name!), was incredibly accommodating and thoughtful with our two children. He even offered to have my filet mignon sliced in the kitchen since I had my velcro baby attached to me, which made it so much easier to enjoy. The filet was juicy and tender, and paired perfectly with the bottle of Opus One we ordered. Our toddler absolutely loved the sea bass. We finished the meal by sharing a chocolate dessert and cheesecake, both huge and absolutely delicious. As a sweet extra touch, our waiter offered to take a family photo for us. At first we didn't plan on it, but decided why not, and I'm so glad he suggested it. Now we have a wonderful photo memory from a truly special evening. The best tasting filet I've enjoyed in a long time! Starters and sides were excellent, warm and cosy bread service to begin, well dressed Caesar salad, with potatoes Au gratin, house mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach to complete our feast. I preferred the pecan pie over the turtle cake because I love pecans but both were a lovely way to end the meal with a well brewed drip coffee and cream. Service was so professional and attentive, well trained and appreciated! The baked potato did not disappoint. What stood out to me was the phenomenal hospitality from Robert. He was such a pleasant, attentive, and kind server. I truly appreciated his spectacular customer service. I also had the pleasure of meeting the restaurant manager, Jack. He was a pleasure to talk to. He ensured that I had everything I needed and thanked me for coming out to this restaurant. The indoor ambiance was beyond gorgeous. It had an inviting feel. Another absolutely amazing birthday celebration at Pappas Steakhouse on Westheimer! We live out of town now but drove in two hours last night to meet our kids and their spouses. It was the best birthday night dinner and service we've ever had. This restaurant is ALWAYS top notch and a cut above any other place in Houston but last night was absolute perfection! Michael Maldanado took care of us with the most incredible service from the moment we walked in. I've always seen attentive and service by all the employees at Pappas over the years, but Michael took it to a whole new level. What a wonderful employee and great guy! I can't quite express our satisfaction from this meal in a single post, but I will try. My fiancé and I were gifted a gift certificate for our engagement from his boss, and wanted to celebrate our engagement together. We had never been to this establishment before, and boy were we missing out. We arrived to a complimentary valet, and the most beautiful outdoor atmosphere. Everything was incredibly clean; and we were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. We had a reservation for 5 pm but showed up a little early. We were able to get a drink at their beautiful bar area and bring it to the table with us. Once we were at our table, we were truly blown away by every detail of our meal. From having towels to cleanse our hands, to the delicious flakey bread (but don't worry about crumbs, they'll squeegee that up), to our PERFECTLY cooked steaks. I ordered my steak rare and my fiancé ordered his medium rare. There truly was a beautiful distinction between the two. My fiancé had oysters, and found a new variety he loved and hadn't had before! Everything was beyond delicious. Beyond the food, the service is unmatched. We were blown away by the caliber of care we received. We anticipated a nice dinner, but not a luxury meal. Every cog of this restaurant was oiled and running smoothly. We felt so cared for, from the water never being empty, to never having dirty plate in front of you, to simply folding your napkin when you're in the restroom. From management down to the newest buss boy, everyone was on their game. After an already mind blowing meal, with some of the best service we've ever had (and we've been to Michelin star restaurants). We were surprised with these beautiful desserts congratulating us on our engagement. They were delicious and despite eating our entire meals, we couldn't help but eat the entire desserts too. Top tier steakhouse and one of the most popular in Houston. Service was A+ and the wait was minimal after making reservations on OpenTable. The meat here is of the highest quality and was delicious but I did unfortunately have to send it back due to it being undercooked, less than the med rare I asked for. It was surprising that a top steakhouse would not have their temperatures perfect but maybe there was a new guy in the back. Overall though I would likely return next time I'm in town. read more

Best ribeye I've ever had (I'm 70). Creamed spinach the best I've ever had. Octopus carpaccio was outstanding. Service was way beyond expectations (thanks Alex) from managers to waiter to staff. But nobody does it in Houston like Pappas Bros. Server Michael is an absolute craftsman who has perfected the restaurant-going experience. Take some time to observe the management and how this place carries out service. It's unlike anything you'll see elsewhere. One of the best meals I've ever had. The fried oysters are insanely good, absolutely loved the foie mousse and blueberry compote. So well balanced. The octopus carpaccio was incredible as well. Wedge salad was huge very well done. Can easily share this between 2 people. Bone in ribeye was cooked perfection. Got some wine for the table and Sauternes with dessert. The pecan pie was massive but not really my jam. Great service and incredible food. read more
