Papi's Tacos - My server. - Mexican Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

I was about to give an extra star for the outlets in the bar that you can use to charge your phone, but after I read my review, I just couldn't justify a 4 star rating for this place. The bartender said they put the outlets in partially for their own convenience (not having customers constantly ask to put their phone behind the bar), but I dig it so much. My phone is always dying, and I love that I could charge it here without issue. Points for cheap tacos and margaritas during happy hour. The tacos were tasty and well put-together. The margaritas weren't anything to write home about, but they were cheap in price but not in taste. I didn't dig the sangria really. I don't know what was off about it, but it just wasn't a fave for me. The atmosphere/service was meh. Happy hour was pretty laid back and tame which I liked, but as we moved out and the Friday night crowd moved it, it was starting to get a little too packed for my taste. Also, the bartenders were not as attentive as I would have liked. We were sitting AT the bar and our drinks went unrefreshed for a little longer than necessary. Overall, not a bad experience, but not one to go out of the way for either. We will definitely be back in nice weather to check out the patio seating, so maybe another review is to come. read more

Papi's Tacos - God Bless Papi's!!!!! Outlets in the bar for your phone charging pleasure without bothering the bartenders!! - Mexican Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

I love going to Happy Hours here. (M-F 4-7pm) $4 Sangrias, Margaritas and $1 tacos and $3 draft beers. Price is too good. The white sangria is my favorite and you can add in extra fruit flavors for 0.50 cents. The margarita was a bit too salty for my taste. And you can't beat dollar tacos.. Oh and they give you free chips with salsa :) The only thing is that service is kind of slow. We went in at 4pm and there weren't even that many people but it took a while to get a servers attention. read more

We went with friends that ravers about this place. While the food was good, there wasn't anything that would knock your socks off.

Definitely did not taste like authentic tacos even with cilantro and onions. Maybe it was the seasoning. However, the flavor was good - not great - but good. We sat at the bar and the bartender was pretty slow with taking orders and then forgot what we ordered and had to ask again but maybe it was a tough day. Unfortulately, she also did not give a friendly heads up about how to order tacos on the order sheet or pass a pencil to encourage the ordering and so that was a tad off putting as well. Drinks weren't strong so I'd recommend beer to get your money's worth. Parking is plentiful in the Fells area and of course, scooters, lyft, etc.. Overall? Not bad but this is def a gringo spot. read more

I'm down with Papi's. Staff here is super friendly, service is quick, and the food/drinks are on point. Sure, the tacos are small, but that's what you get when you're not at the Cheesecake Factory receiving 4389 pounds of food. The build-your-own street tacos are really good (the only food I've had here), and I think are a fine price. Multiple salsa and meat options. I've had the chicken, shrimp and veggie options - authentic style, and they're so good. Chips and sals are great, too. Margs are decently priced and strong. I've even had the skinny marg and it was delicious and definitely left me buzzed. read more

Such a gem! So glad we found this place. I'm from AZ and the street tacos are legit! Best I've had here. Danielle was our waitress and she's fantastic. Very helpful and her recommendations were perfect. My husband and I both got authentic style braised short ribs and carnitas tacos. They were perfection. Our boys got the gringo style kids soft tacos. We all shared the queso with chorizo and it was amazing! So yummy! Definitely coming back! read more

Papi's Tacos - Authentic style tacos on corn tortillas. Braised short ribs and carnitas. - Mexican Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Yum! Decided to come here for dinner after getting my nails done around the corner. My boyfriend biked down and met up with me. We were seated inside- tight seating but not family style. Chips were good put we added heat to the salsa. Overall good though! We decided to get the street tacos and share. We ordered four different ones and the only one I didn't care for was the chicken- there was something either slightly smokey about it or some flavor that just didn't sit with me. They don't skimp on the meat and there's plenty of hot sauce at the table for those of us who want it. I also got a small guac and that was a perfect size. I had the Pomegranate Margarita and my boyfriend had one of the other margs. These will put you on your ass if you aren't careful. They're delicious but make sure you have a DD. Service was good, attentive and quick, even with it being as noisy as it was. read more

Papi's Tacos - My empty Pama Rita! - Mexican Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

3.0 stars I came here to celebrate two of my friends' birthdays. We were all feeling tacos, so we decided to give Papi's a try. Although we had a group of 6 on a weekend night, we didn't have any issues getting seated. While waiting for the rest of our group to arrive, we munched on complimentary chips & salsa and ordered some drinks. I ordered a beer from their expansive selection, and my wife got a frozen margarita which she really enjoyed. My friends also seemed to enjoy the cocktails that they ordered, although I didn't try them. The Food Cangrejo (crab) tacos with Picosa salsa ($8.00): I got all my tacos Authentic style on soft corn tortillas. I liked the authentic style toppings which included citrusy Nopales and crunchy radishes; they were a nice departure from standard tacos. There was a decent portion of crab; however the taste of crab wasn't very strong and was unfortunately overwhelmed by the other toppings on the taco. I wish I could have tasted what I was paying for! Chorizo tacos with Picosa salsa ($6.00): My second order of tacos was forgotten, and after inquiring about the missing tacos, I had to wait a good amount of time before receiving them. If they had missed my order initially, it should be the next thing the kitchen works on, versus completing orders for other tables first! The tacos themselves were just average. I imagined the chorizo to be little pieces of Mexican sausages bursting with flavor. But unfortunately, it was more like a soggy, salty, stewed ground pork. Elote ($7.00): I shared this with my wife, and we each had one ear of corn. These were nicely flavored, although a bit too creamy for my palate. No fault of the restaurant but more of a personal issue because I'm not a big dairy and cheese fan. My wife devoured them and loved it though! Service: Service was average. We were tucked away in the back and our waitress came by occasionally. I wish the kitchen would have prioritized the missed order though. Overall, there are better taco places in Baltimore like Clavel, but Papi's taco is a decent choice for Mexican food in Fells Point. Their drinks were good, but I wish their taco meats were more flavorful. I'm not jumping to come back, but might do so if I wanted tacos and was in Fells Point. read more

Papi's Tacos - Authentic style Cangrejo (Crab) tacos on soft corn tortillas with Picosa salsa ($8) - Mexican Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Papi's tacos is a more boujee version of the other mexican places around the area. Unfortunately, I can't say that the taste is better. Got three tacos, authentic on corn tortillas. Got the adobo and carnitas, with pico de gallo and salsa picante. Rice and beans as well. Everything was honestly pretty standard. Nothing was bad other than the sides and sauces came in tiny containers but nothing was really outstanding in this place. With so many options around, it'll be hard for me to give them another go. read more

Our favorite taco place in Baltimore! It's small and simple, and the build your own taco menu system is fun and only $3 per taco. While most of the tables only seat up to 4, there is one large table in the back that seats up to 8. They serve complimentary chips with delicious salsa. The house guacamole is flavorful and served in a mortar and pestle, and is a great serving size for a crowd. I highly recommend the shrimp tacos (and drizzle with the Maggi sauce that's available on the table). You won't leave hungry! read more

Great place, portions are huge compare with price. I loved their tacos, im not sure how authentic it is since i ordered shrimp taco, but taste is amazing! I have never had a taco that taste so fresh, and delicate before. Also i would highly recommend the guacamole! Its to die for! I dont think i ever had this much of guacamole in one meal, ever before! Definitely will be a regular for me and hubby. read more

After a Day at the zoo yesterday 03/09/21 Me and my Best friend wanted food as we always do during a Good outing ! So I'm more so visual foodie so I googled and came across somebody's photo of an overly stuffed bomb ass looking burrito and have to have that one or find something from this place immediately LOL. We get to the place it's a small place second to the end of the corner! There was a photo shoot happening so we made sure to be out the way!. They have every topping imaginable so many decisions and looove the fact they have street corn on a stick yummm... we got mission style burritos my Friend got something with pulled beef/ birria tacos with pulled short rib and I got the chicken tinga! Lemme tell you babyyyy it was flavor all in that thang!! .... I love that you can taste every fresh ingredient and the meat flavors as well very well seasoned and the chicken rings has just the right amount of kick any of the beef you get is tender!! & smoked. The only thing we missed was the creama that we didn't know was separate. I mean flavor beyond belief for the first time chancing a place neither one of us knew or heard about this definitely didn't disappoint at all. We coming back for those drinks tho indeed!!! And more bomb ass food!! LOL. Thank You Papis for the experience and if possible the photo that caught our eye that I marked whomevers pic this is if you can identify what's in it I'd LOOOVE to buy it my next visit!! read more

Thursday night. Sat at a table in the bar. Busy bartender waited on us. Terrible service, food, and experience. 1. salsa verde had a crust on top from sitting under lights in the kitchen 2. tacos were about 4" diameter 3. food slow to come out 4. fried ice cream was melted inside and cold outer crust-obviously sitting in the kitchen before it came out. 5. bartender never cleared our dirty plates 6. charged $6 For a Sol when on the menu was $4.50. Tacos are easy- it should have been much better. read more

Drinks: white sangria - strong wine flavor, not my taste Passion fruit marg- great, not too sweet Cilantro mojito- great, refreshing Classic marg- good not great, switched to hefe beer (always great) Dos equis amber- great Apps- guac, table side - very yum Esquites- very creamy and good. (That's what she said) Main dish- fajitas, good flavor not great pairings of sauce etc. fajita taco ensalada- light and crispy, average - crunchy shell Carne asada Sopes- very spicy. Meat was very well seasoned, just skimpy on amount Atmosphere - would have given a 3.5 based on food and drink alone- but service and atmo bumped it up for us - very friendly and attentive. Also surprised our friend with a birthday treat, 'twas exciting. *side note- the table behind us broke out in song, weird but our kinda weird.* read more

Papi's Tacos - Sopes are dope...'es' - Mexican Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

The taco bar for two (with carnitas) is the most delicious, time-saving meal I have ordered in Baltimore.

Some of the best and authentic "homemade" tacos and Mexican food in general I've ever had. Their queso is on point. They put tajín on their chips. The "gringo meat" is ground beef FYI. Overall great food, excellent customer service. read more

They always do a very good job with keeping the menu interesting and not just boring Mexican food,, the Mole is fantastic, as are the salsa's they make, a great selection of foods to choose from as well as the meats, if ya want Beef, Pork, Chicken, Fish, etc, I'll say this, the staff unfortunately, not the same great people who were there in 2019, but Scamdemic did in a lot of places in Baltimore, so I hope they bounce back soon, but for Mexican Food in the area of the Inner Harbor, it is the best that we have had, since 2008 traveling to Baltimore each year,, so, we have routinely been going here since 2016,, and I hope the Happy Hour specials on the Drinks come back!! I guess the thing of it is,, so far have not come across a "great Mexican restaurant" in the Inner Harbor,, but as they go, this is Good and good as it gets in the area read more

Excellent service, friendly staff! Antonio was awesome :) really cute spot in an artsy part of Baltimore

Great every time. Take fried fish tacos off the special list and put them on the regular menu. 10/10

This place deserves more than 5 stars, from the service to the food. And I must say, the food here is damn good! I stand by a good authentic Mexican restaurant and this place blew my mind. The bartenders were friendly, fast and efficient and that's important to me when I sit at the bar at any establishment. I had first the prickly pear margarita then I had a mango passionfruit margarita. Goood good good! The street tacos with rice and guacamole were to die for. Really recommend anyone to go enjoy what this place has to offer! read more

Papi's catered my wedding reception. Carrie was super helpful and kind to work with ahead of time. I have little to no experience with catering a large party, so her patience and experience were very appreciated. We got countless compliments on the food and the service. Everyone raved about all of the types of tacos we ordered (chicken, shrimp, carnitas, and veggie). The chips, plantains, rice, beans, salsa, and toppings were all a hit. The only thing people did not seem to enjoy was the yucca. I would definitely recommend using their food and services. 5/5 Stars! read more

Papi's is my GO-TO in Baltimore! I moved to the city almost 6 months ago and never seem to want to bring visitors anywhere new, because it's always THAT good!! Between their stellar margaritas--just the right strength, and attentive service, alongside the unlimited chips and housemade salsa, you are guaranteed to have a great meal! The bar serves the full menu so where you sit doesn't matter either. It's definitely worth the wait for bar seats if the wait for a table is long. I've tried nearly all the tacos, but I have to say the carne asada are my favorite! Highly recommend the tableside guac for a group of 3+ as well. The most authentic I've ever had. Gluten friendly was a HUGE plus for me as well! read more

Had an amazing experience with Papi's tacos for takeout. We got so much food for the price. Chicken tacos, Carnita tacos, chicken and carnita enchiladas with medium verde sauce and a carnita mission burrito. Omg alllll so good! Obsessed with the burrito! The rice and beans so yummy and the Guac was something you can't miss. Such large portions. Amazing to share. The salsa is fresh and not too spicy. Will definitely be ordering again!!!! read more

My girlfriend and I were in the area because we planned a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium. They were really busy for a cold Saturday night and we were seated right away. The bar staff/server was really attentive the whole time. I loved the fresh chips and laundry list of salsa options they have to choose from. My girlfriend and I got the dip trio to start. The queso and salsa were good but the guacamole was extra tasty. We opted for tacos off the little note pad they have. I got mine authentic style and my girlfriend got hers gringo style. I'd rate the tacos a 10/10. They were some of the best tacos I've had recently and I loved the fresh toppings. I visit restaurants based off their reviews and this one didn't disappoint! I'd love to go again in the summer. read more

This is the only authentic Mexican restaurant I've been to in Baltimore! The food is amazing. I had tamales and tacos! The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because it's not the best Mexican I've ever had. The decor is great and the staff is amazing! read more

Good solid tacos and a great price too. I've been here a bunch of times and the best deal on the menu are the build your own street tacos. Great price for what you get. Even though the chorizo tacos were really greasy, I keep ordering them, it's so good. I also enjoy the chilaquiles. I don't drink but my friend loved the drinks, she was hammered by the time we left. Good guacamole too. Try sitting all the way in the back courtyard if you can, it's a really pretty setup. read more

The service is awful!!! The white waitress we had was rude and unprofessional!! The manager did nothing to help the situation... we had to get up and go to the bar all three times to get someone to take our order and this is at noon on a Wednesday when no one was there!! Again awful and disrespectful service. You could tell she had issues serving people of color! Guess black and brown lives don't matter at Papi's... don't spend our money here ! read more

Best quesadillas in Baltimore :) try shrimp and steak, you won't be disappointed!!! Great neighborhood bar and awesome service.

I stopped in on a total whim and I'm glad I did. The vibe here is cool. It's dark and divey. The music fits. Bob Marley was playing when I walked in and the tone stayed mostly mellow but meandered away from reggae as well. I had a beer (Day of the Dead Porter). Their beer selection is limited but does the trick with enough variety. The menu is great. There's a huge selection including snacky things as cheap as $1.50 frijoles or a rice app. I had elote and platanos. Both delicious. The free chips and salsa were a nice addition. One of the bartenders brought over some Old Bay for the corn...a great touch. The service could have been better but it was not the end of the world. I had to go to the bar to order my meal and to get my check. It would have been nice if they checked in or even looked over now and then. I appreciate the effort when a bartender makes it a habit to continuously scan the room to see if anyone needs anything. I could have caught their attention and gotten the service I needed. All in all I'll go back at some point but with all the options in the area I won't be in a rush. The food's great and priced well. Atmosphere is cool. Service is friendly, though not as on point as it easily could be. read more

The reason for giving it two stars, instead of one is because the waitress was very nice and made sure she came and checked up on us. The food was lacking the Hispanic touch. I can say for sure it wasn't authentic, it had a little American touch. The environment was pretty chill. But the main reason for the rating being so low is because my husband was trying the birria taco I got and he pulled out a hair out of his mouth. Then later we were eating our nachos and we saw another hair. Now mind you this on Valentine's Day. We were excited about the night but the hair was a complete no no for us! read more
