Went here for lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I live in Redmond, but my wife and I have been spending more time in Sammamish lately, especially since we really like the Metropolitan Market nearby. I've always been a big fan of Vietnamese food, and this place caught my attention right away. I even noticed egg coffee on the menu, which is something I don't see very often at Vietnamese restaurants around here. But the real surprise was the pho. I noticed a special pho dish on the menu that, for some reason, I can't find on their online menu. I decided to try it, and it was the best pho I've ever had. Just look at the picture. This isn't your typical bowl of pho. The enormous pieces of bone-in beef make it something completely different from what I've had at other Vietnamese restaurants. The broth was excellent, and the whole dish was impressive. My wife and I liked it so much that we tried to order another one to take home to our daughter. Unfortunately, they told us they couldn't prepare this particular dish to go because they didn't have a container large enough to accommodate it. I wish I could like it more! I've given it several tries. I have tried different items on the menu but always leave feeling a little disappointed. I haven't ordered anything I didn't like but I also haven't ordered anything that I've loved. Just mediocre. The pho was alright but the broth was not my favorite. The beef baguette with sweet potato fries was probably my favorite thing I ordered but again didn't think it was anything necessarily amazing. Sweet potato fries were good. I've also had the crispy honey chicken. Chicken was kind of dry and lots of breading. Even that wasn't bad, just ok. The location is nice. Sometimes there's music playing which I appreciate. Ordered the beef pho and tofu garlic noodles stir-fry. -Our server was very thorough, considering we had some vegan restrictions. The dislikes: -Service after ordering was slow and not the best. It's been a min and I've had a craving--apparently Tuesday is a terrible time to desire Papaya now so we made up for it by returning on Thursday. I have a pandemic-based history here and wanted an updated opinion and finally had a dine-in experience! Waiter was friendly, gave plenty of time to review the menu...and I saw the Hong Kong Milk Tea offering and thought it was worth trying and It's perfect. Such a balanced and creamy tea with some toothsome pearls to match the body! Reminds me of the Hokkaido milk tea Orenji made me love, just a fantastic unique tea! So delicious I brought my honey one. I enjoyed my flavor-packed bún bowl, tho the toasted garlic always throws me off, and was grateful for the egg roll accommodation. You can see they were quite generous with 5 of them. Their crispy rolls are meaty. My mom was happy to have her prawn bún bowl, hers had a saucy situation that makes it less salad-like and less agreeable to my taste but she was happy with it. She even finished her other half before the evening was over. It was clean, chill inside (only one other table when we entered at 5pm and two more tables when we left), and quiet enough for a smaller dining room. I used to go there and they were good but yesterday we went there and something not right! The food not that hot and the service wasn't good anymore! I ordered Chicken Pho and the soup wasn't that hot and they forgot to serve the bean sprouts that comeswwith it. I have to call them and ask for it! That was weird! The interior was nice, and they have a decent menu. I was excited to try the garlic beef noodles. Unfortunately, I found a hair in the food which was definitely not mine. In addition, the beef was so tough from being overcooked (or maybe it was old?) that my jaw actually hurt from trying to chew it. The flavors were nice, and service was quick, but I have to be able to eat the food! They ended up removing my item from the bill. The food was very good. We ordered bunch on vegan dishes and Chicken fried noodles. We also got the vegan dad fried rice but its taste was super elevated by their chill oil. I am absolutely a big fan of their chili oil. The highlight of the meal was the Vegan Laksa!! The service was awesome and it has a very homely ambiance!! My husband and I were hungry and looking for a place on our way to a show and we decided this would be a veggie-friendly place to have dinner. We were greeted by a friendly server who seated us promptly. The restaurant has high ceilings and the surroundings are beautiful. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the Fresh Tofu and Vegetable soup and Fresh Tofu Spring Rolls with peanut dipping sauce. My husband ordered the Crispy Tofu. I am trying to reduce added oils in my food as much as possible, which I understand is a tall order for most restaurants. They ended up bringing out fried tofu in my fresh spring rolls. They were a delicious splurge moment for me and the peanut sauce had crunchy onions on top. Delightful in both taste and texture! I had to correct my order as they brought out fried tofu soup when I asked for fresh tofu. And they forgot to bring my husband's diet coke and servers try not to bother us too much, as I understand it is seen as a bother to interrupt diners too often, which I happen to appreciate. Although, they were great about topping off our waters regularly. I ordered takeout from here during a long workday, and it was exactly what I needed! I got spring rolls and lemongrass pork, both of which were absolutely delicious. I believe this is the best Vietnamese food I've had so far in Seattle. I appreciated that they were accommodating to my request to replace the vermicelli noodles with rice. The portion sizes were generous for the price, with lots of meat and pickled veggies being the stars of the show. The spring rolls had a delicious crunch to them, with some sort of fried rice paper in the middle of the noodles and veggies. The food was slightly cold when I received it, but the think that's on account of the deliverer, not the restaurant. I'd definitely order from here again soon. read more

I enjoyed the pho here, though the service was a miss. There is a waitress who memorizes your order and when she messed up on mine, insisted I ordered what she thought I ordered. She didn't think she made a mistake at all. I accepted the wrong order regardless since I didn't want to make it a big deal, but she made me feel like I had memory loss. I come here frequently only because it's close to my house and I enjoy their viet iced coffee to go. Have been craving a good bowl of beef pho for awhile so we stopped in for an early dinner. Ordered the classic beef and brisket pho, and my companion ordered the oxtail pho. Both were served with a good and satisfying amount of meat. The restaurant is very clean and simply decorated. They have both inside and patio dining available. This place has great vegan options! They have outdoor seating which is also dog friendly. The service was quick and the staff were nice! We ordered the Vegan Garlic Noodles and the Vegan Laksa, both were really good! The laksa has a lot of cilantro in the soup so heads up for those who think it's tastes like soap. But I had looked at an old menu, so they no longer served neither one of these items. So, I just decided to try the Hue Spicy Noodle Soup and she got the Coconut Tofu Stone Rice Pot. My bf got the Stir-Fry Lúc Lăc with the Beef Tenderloin Cubes. I also ordered the Shrimp & Pork Crispy Rolls and Honey Garlic Wings, which I probably enjoyed these two the most, more than my noodle soup. The Sammamish community has developed its food scene over the past couple years by opening new eateries around the city! Papaya is one of the most recent additions in a trio of restaurants just up the hill from Metropolitan Market. Two of us stopped here for takeout one sunny day, ordering two lunch entrees and a couple refreshing drinks. Right as I walked in the door, I couldn't help but notice how clean and orderly the restaurant looked. It's unfortunate that we couldn't dine inside due to the pandemic! The black floors shined and everything had its place on the front counter, from a basket containing menus to separate cups for "clean" and "used" pens. They also had a small cart by the entrance with bottles of sauces and condiments to purchase for home-cooking. The employee at the counter provided a warm welcome and after about 10 minutes, he kindly brought our order outside where we decided to wait. + Basil Noodles with Vegetables and Chicken ($16): The name of this item says it all. It was a well-rounded dish of lean chicken and veggies mixed with chewy rice noodles. A savory and slightly sweet sauce combined the essence of basil and an unexpected, but pleasant medium heat. I couldn't stop eating this and would definitely order again! + Crispy Honey Chicken ($14): Crispy, meaty chicken pieces tossed in sweet glaze and topped with crunchy bits of fried garlic... it was heavenly! The entree only came with a side of rice, and seemed to be missing something. Perhaps a cooked veggie or slaw would have paired well. On a warm Summer day, I couldn't leave without trying the Guava Iced Tea ($4.5). While you can't adjust the sweetness of this particular drink, after the first sip, I realized I wouldn't need to anyway! It had a bright tropical fruit flavor and I didn't feel a sugar crash afterward. My lunch companion ordered a Coffee Milk Tea with Boba ($5) and loved it. Note that their boba is unsweetened, so keep that in mind if you choose to adjust the sweetness of a milk tea. Papaya's menu includes pho, vermicelli bowls, a number of different rice entrees and more, so there's plenty to try! From a cost perspective, the entree servings are fairly small for sharing though, especially considering the steep pricing. Our two dishes along with two teas added up to $43 before tip... However, our food was delicious and bursting with flavor, so it was worth the splurge this time! read more

My usual go to order is the spicy garlic noodles, banh Mi or the Beef stew and oxtail noodle soup. Let me take a moment to talk about the Beef stew and oxtail soup. The broth, the broth! It is so flavorful and hearty, full of yummy goodness. Love the oxtails in it. It is perfect for our rainy cold weather. It's my comfort food and I find myself craving those flavors ever so often. Mind blowing, fantastic soup! Please don't ever change this or dilute the flavor of the soup. I've tried a couple mouths of my friend's Shrimp Green Papaya Salad. It was light and crunchy. I also tried the Coconut chicken curry with fried rice. The coconut curry has potatoes and carrots in it. It's a good wholesome curry. Will order again. Ate here last night for dinner with my best guy friend! It's right next to Tanoor -- which is also a fave place of mine! Wow, their menu has variety and lots of interesting menu options to choose from. They have milk teas (please try the Ginger Milk Tea. If you like Ginger, you would like this one. Usually Ginger burns and is bitter in taste but how they made it is very subtle). They also have lemonades and ice teas, I recommend the Guava flavored! The menu carries pho, noodle dishes, rice dishes, and banh mi's. I want to try their stone pots and the seared ahi noodle dish next time! They have OXTAIL PHO which I've always wanted to try. It's around $17-$18 so a little spendy but the oxtail was very good - and they serve it with brisket too. Extra add-ons like spicy broth, meatballs, or tendons are about $1.50. The staff was attentive and pretty fast with the orders, we were surprised. So if you would like Vietnamese, would recommend this place. The entrees vary from $13-$17 with appetizers being $6-$8. I am a regular here. This is my go to place for when I cannot agree with my husband on where to go. He follows keto diet. And this place delivers. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. This is a pretty solid restaurant, with the usual Pho, Bahn Mi, and vermicelli bowls but my favorite has been the spicy basil wide-noodles with either pork or fried tofu. When ordering take-out, I find I have to google the right service to order (versus it being linked on their site), but once there, a lot of customization is available, such as forgoing the jalapeno peppers or doubling-down on the delicious pork. One downside is the parking is crazy bad and full with the wonderful Lebanese restaurant on one side and Zeek's on the other. We love this place, and I think this beats other pho in the vicinity. Good pho, good size and flavorful broth. I also love their Bun Bo Hue. We've also tried their chicken wings and other dishes and all good. They have a decent kids menu too. I love also like the Tra Tea drinks here - their Vietnamese coffee is good and love that it comes in a 'can' - really easy to transport. They also have alcohol like beer and stuff.
