You may want to call ahead if you have a large group. We got the tofu pad thai level 1 spice. The kids loved it. It was not fishy at all and had a sweet taste. We also got the pineapple fried rice level 1 spice. The kids loved the cashews and raisins. They werent a big fan of the tofu. We also got the parang curry level 3 spice. It was nice and spicy. The chicken was cooked well with large pieces. It could have a larger portion of rice. The Thai Iced tea was great to balance the spice. The prices were fair. This is an excellent Thai restaurant where everything is made fresh. I had the avocado rolls which are accompanied by a thick plum sauce, along with a vegetarian version of the papaya salad that has a very different tasty sauce. The main entrees were eggplants with four and vegetables, while the king egg noodles were a good pairing. The main woman in charge gives helpful suggestions. I plan to return often. read more

Nice little spot in Belleville. Service was excellent and attentive. I went for lunch and got the Duck Noodle soup. It was excellent nice tasty broth with fresh greens noodle and tender duck. I love when I ask for spicy and they deliver. I came by on Saturday afternoon after golfing nearby. There weren't too many people dining inside so we were seated immediately. I had the Pad Se Ew, extra spicy and it was perfect! It was bursting with flavor and heat, and the noodles were perfectly al dente. I don't typically like breaded seafood, but the crispy salmon was really yummy. The chicken dumplings were really tasty too. Finally! Good Thai food in NJ. I've tried a handful of places but this one finally hits the spot. Originally from Houston, I have great Thai options at my fingertips but it's been a struggle to find something tasty here. I've driven past this spot for years, when it was called something else on my way to the best Vietnamese restaurant and only now did I try it thanks to my hair stylist who recommended it. Although I must say, I'm used to my papaya salad being spicy as that's how it's originally made, there's had no heat. Odd. The crispy pork and Chinese broccoli was delicious and the sauce was reminiscent of my favorite Thai spot back home. And you would think you can't mess up pad Thai but so many places make it terribly, not Papa haha it's delicious here! My partner and I passed by this place all the time and only ordered takeout but never stepped in for a complete meal. We finally decided to go on a rainy afternoon, in perfect weather, to try one of their noodle soups, and they did not disappoint. The restaurant is small but cozy, though some ambient music would be excellent. We ordered an appetizer of curry puffs 4 for $8, so tasty and flaky that they remind me of Colombian pastelitos but in a tinier, even more savory version. We also had a small bowl of their Tom Yom spicy soup with chicken for $5, as well as a bowl of duck noodle soup for $17 - the duck was crispy, and the broth was slightly sweet and savory. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is super cute, well lit, and cozy. The food is AMAZING! I had the crispy duck salad. Very tasty, fresh and the duck was not fatty at all. I was very happy with it. My date had the Shrimp Rama. Delicious! The peanut sauce was not overpowering and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. Parking was a bit dicey, but street parking around the corner proved convenient; an easy walk to the restaurant. The service was GREAT! Our server was very attentive despite managing multiple take out orders simultaneously. Highly recommend! read more

Ordered delivery from here which is pretty uncommon because for me it seems delivery often leads to mixed results, but this particular order turned out well. I'm always looking to give Thai spots a chance because there aren't too many that top my list. Papa Thai did well for not being dine in. We got an order of Thai Siu Mai - dumplings and Thai style chicken wings. Dumplings were hot but I thought there would be more; Wings were saucy with decent crispiness and flavor. Went with my usual Drunken Noodle. Decent amount and not too heavy on bean sprouts which was good. I like how as this was a takeout, it was packaged in tin trays to keep it warm. I'm not a fan of Styrofoam packaging as it's flimsy and doesn't keep things quite as hot. I've had Papa Thai twice. The first time we did DoorDash delivery and the food was amazing! Although I think the food is pricey, it was worth it. The second time, we ordered through DoorDash but picked up the food. This time the curry puffs and crispy chicken were dry & not worth the money. Ordered delivery a few times and the food was delicious. I finally got a chance to visit in person and I found it to be located on a busy street. The place was so small that I passed it while driving. Parking is free about the neighborhood but crossing the street can be a challenge. Once I got inside I realized that this is no place for a large event. Its suitable for a party of 2-4 for lunch or dinner. The ambiance gives off the kind of vibe where you would be comfortable eating alone here without being rushed to leave. As for the service, there was very little interaction since I was on the phone conducting business. I paid for my meal, sat down and they brought it over. I'm a little limited in my appetizer choices due to a crustacean allergy. The tamarind duck was nicely done, and I thought it had a lot of flavor. My friend had pad Thai. My family stopped by this hole-in-the-wall restaurant on the way back from a road trip by coincidence and we were really surprised by how good the food was. Was better than most of the Thai food I've had in NYC. Everything we ordered tasted great and was the perfect balance of Thai flavors (sour, sweet, spicy, savory). I've never been to the restaurant but during this quarantine I've ordered from them 5 times this month via UberEats. They are quick with delivery and the food is still hot and very consistent with flavor and execution. That's A+++ service in my book especially with all you hungry people during the dinner rush. So far for entrées, I've had the Massaman Curry with chicken, which was very flavorful and not runny at all. If you're ordering get an extra side of rice because the size they give you is cute. Basil Fried Rice with chicken and also with half duck. The duck is an extra $10 but to me so worth it, very juicy and not dry at all. What a seriously satisfying dish! I just wish I got more duck for the price but I understand the circumstances and don't mind paying. For appetizers, the Curry Puffs are a tiny bit greasy but it's fried so duh, the size is shareable if you're into that. But overall very tasty and priced fairly imo. The Massaman Roti is bomb.com, again fried so a little greasy but you have paper towels, use em! You'll also have some sauce left over so I feel this is a great value, technically you get two meals with this app. Honorable mentions, crab fried rice wasn't for me flavor wise and the ribs appetizer could be more sizable for the price, but the sauce is pretty much crack so I have to figure out how to deal with that now. Overall, this place is very solid and I'm more than happy to support them during this pandemic, don't hesitate to do delivery but preferably pick-up. UberEats takes a % of each order. This place is wonderful! It filled the void that spice Thai left( the restaurant that was here before ). I'm very glad another Thai restaurant came in! And with great quality food. The place is literally the cleanest restaurant I've ever been to. (It is brand new). It's a different vibe than before but the colors still make it feel cozy. Papa Thai Chef is a recently revamped Thai restaurant under new management. Interior is completely redesigned from the last restaurant Thai Spice. Service was great and all the dishes we had was fresh and delicious! A few recommendations: make sure the food is more hot when coming out; it may have been just sitting there since we ordered a lot, but none the less did not negate our experience. This Thai restaurant replaced the former Spice Thai which was one of our favorites. We waited a long time before this new spot finally opened. Unfortunate that their grand opening happened during the COVID-19 crisis. We ordered takeout here to see if this new spot could live up to the previous and the food didn't disappoint. We ordered a few apps, including Steamed Dumpling (Thai Siu Mai) Minced chicken and shrimp. Shiitake mushroom and scallions served with house soy sauce which was very good. Thai Chicken Wings, Fried marinaded chicken wings with honey sweet chili sauce, also good but not as good as the Crispy Thai Wings we used to get here. Thai Spare Ribs, slow cooked spare ribs served with hoisin sauce, delicious. For our mains we ordered Pad See Ew with Crispy Pork Belly, sautéed flat noodle with egg, Chinese broccoli, fresh garlic, and house soy sauce. The noodles and Chinese broccoli was delicious, however the crispy pork belly missed the mark, too hard, fat was too chewy. Will stick with beef or chicken next time. Also had the Drunken Noodles with Chicken, sautéed flat noodle with egg, crushed chili, onion, garlic, basil, beansprout, tomato and bell pepper, very good. Last, we had the Red Curry, with bamboo shoot, string bean, bell pepper, basil, and coconut milk. Served with jasmine rice. Liked this dish as well. Overall a great first experience here and this will definitely be a go to spot for us again for lunch and dinner and especially when we can actually go back in a restaurant to sit and eat. read more

Glad to see a Thai place back in the area as we were sad to see the previous restaurant go. The dining area seems more open and we didn't feel like we were in someone's lap as we ate. For only being open a week things went pretty smoothly and everyone was very nice. The portions were decently sized and everything was tasty.
