I was in the mood for Chinese food and came across this spot. I called in my order of curry shrimp and fried rice. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted. My food was ready and I paid and left. When I dug in, the curry shrimp was good. They were just a little stingy with the shrimp. Wish there was more. The rice was very tasty as well. Since I've moved to Nutley this is my go to spot. Their fried tofu is the best in the area, hands down. The vegetables are always perfectly cooked and the sauces are delicious. As someone who doesn't eat meat, i am so grateful to have great food right down the street that is sensitive to my food allergies. I always ate this when I visited my sister, so now I ordered it for my house for the FIRST TIME and THIS?!? DIS. GUS. TING. I always spoke highly of this place, but NEVER. AGAIN. When my dad called to get his money back, the owner gave us a hard time. I had came to the store 5 minutes before 11am and was happy to see that they were open. I ordered chicken broccoli lunch special with egg roll. The fried rice is never greasy and their fried chicken wings are delicious. My food always arrives hot to my door. The driver walked into my house unannounced, then part of my order was wrong, I called back to tell them that part of my order was wrong the lady on the phone was very rude! So I went there to complain in person and bring my food back that was wrong and she continued to be rude and threw the receipt at me, then told me that she can say whatever she wants. Delivery thanks to GrubHub made it super convenient to try this place. An extra bonus: they have chicken dumplings!! I'm such a fan of chicken dumplings but for some reason most Chinese places only do pork or veg...these don't disappoint. We've had delivery from here several times now, all pretty good. The menu is huge, almost too many choices. The kung pao chicken is not my favorite, too much filler, not enough chicken. Otherwise, everything has been tasty, fresh and hot. Love that they deliver to Clifton. One of the snowy days last winter my husband and I searched Yelp for Chinese delivery. He came across China First. We decided to give it a try. Some of the food is very good, while other dishes just missed. We love their Egg Drop Soup. We usually order the quart and share it (more economical). We also like to order a Shrimp Roll. These are tasty, but you'll be lucky if you find two shrimp in there. There is usually one in each half of the egg roll. The hubby ordered one of the dumplings and really enjoyed them. My husband loves their Chicken with Broccoli, but I'm not a fan of the sauce and didn't care for the larger chicken pieces (they seemed a bit fatty). So when we ordered from here the second time, I decided to get the Mu Shee Chicken instead, and that hit the spot. It's a huge portion, so it usually lasts for about 2.5 meals if it's just me eating it. It's served with 8 pancakes, which is really great. Like I said before, they deliver to Clifton, so that was huge for us. Their delivery times aren't always the most accurate though. I'd say it's about 50 / 50. But we've probably ordered from here 3 or 4 times now, so a little delay didn't stop us from returning. Delivery is free with a $10 minimum order. The prices are very reasonable and all of the main dishes we have tried are ample portions. It's not my favorite Chinese restaurant, but it's the best one I've found so far near my home that delivers. So, I'll take what I can get. read more

We moved back to Nutley a year ago...have done lots of Italian Food take out but have not tried any Chinese. Tonight that changed....We saw China First's Ad on the Cover of the Shopper's Guide. Looked it up on Yelp and decided to give it a try! It was delivered quickly. came hot & in generous portions and was fresh & delicious as well. I have such mixed reviews about this place. My husband and I have been going here for years and normally the food is delicious however when I stopped in to pick up my order on the way home, the person cooking the food kept wiping his nose and he didn't even bother to wash his hands. He didn't have gloves on either. I was so disgusted by what I saw so I just left and haven't been back there since. read more

I have ordered from this place quite a few times and always had a good experience. Tonight however, it took 2 hours to get my cold, burnt food and when I called to ask where it was they were rude rude rude. I contacted seamless to help me get a refund and because I was not willing to fish through the garbage and return the cold and burned food they wouldn't refund me the money. First and last time at China First... Stoped into China First today, May 23, at approximately 4 p.m. and ordered food, primarily #70 vegetable lo mein. Brought it home, only to discover that I received dry, plain lo mein noodles with no vegetables, no sauce, no nothing. I called China First and they said that I specifically ordered plain old lo mein noodles. Say What???? I ordered #70 VEGETABLE lo mein....note the word VEGETABLE. Fast service. I ordered through Grub Hub and I like how you can select the level of "spicy" with certain dishes on a scale of 1-5. I'm sorry but the hunan duck was horrible. It was overly greasy, lacked flavor (I ordered the spicy one and it wasn't spicy at all). It was so bad that after one or two bites I couldn't eat anymore. It went to complete waste. On a good note, the general tso's was great- better than most. I like how they use smaller pieces of chicken and the sauce was good without being overwhelming. The cheese wontons were also delicious. This time, order was placed at 7:32pm and didn't arrive until 9:15 pm on a Tuesday night. While food was warm and tasty, order was incorrect. We've been going to China First for years but lately the food has been lacking. The sesame noodles are dry and tasteless. We let them know about that when we ordered the next time but it didn't make a difference. The egg rolls used to be fantastic, now they taste like supermarket food.
