They got very sick, including me I'm very disappointed in this restaurant. This is always been my go to restaurant. Me my nephew and my aunt all got sick from this restaurant. If you want to get food poisoning, I will not recommend this restaurant. I don't know how the health department keeps this restaurant open. First time trying this place. I found it damn good. Solid food. Not over spiced or sauces. I got the Beef with Garlic and Pork Fried Rice. Very fresh and clean tasting (not overly heavy with spice). I'll definitely go back too see what else might be good Very clean and food was waiting for me when I arrived in 10 minutes. read more

Some highlights would be-Spareribs, Hot and Sour Soup, Chicken and Broccoli, Fried Chicken Wings, House Special Chow Mei Fun, Sesame Noodles, Mu Shu Vegetable, Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. I am by no means an expert on "authentic" Chinese cuisine but I am definitely an expert on Chinese takeout and New King Chef beats them all. Just trust me because I've ordered from them all and been disappointed each time. When I was in college, I had a Chinese roommate who introduced me to "real" Chinese food at hole-in-the-wall locations and ever since then I have been more critical of what I will let pass for "Chinese food." Chinese takeout options have declined in quality since the 90's but this is my new go-to location for Chinese takeout and every item ordered has been to my satisfaction. My recommendation is to ask for egg in the fried rice and then mix it with a dash of their "homemade" mustard and I promise you will like the taste. When you are in the mood for Chinese food, your taste buds should be delighted, not disappointed and trust me they will be very happy at this location. Maybe one day I'll meet a Chinese girl who can re-introduce me to real and authentic Chinese cuisine! But until then, New King Chef is just fine. read more

Update: I just finished lunch and I couldn't eat most of it. It's just terrible and I threw it away. I thought this place would better than it was. I ordered scallion pancakes and crispy orange beef. The pancakes were sopping wet with grease. Even my air fryer didn't bring them back to life and there were hardly any scallions in them. The orange beef was battered and was soggy doughy onto the beef. The pork fried rice was tasteless. I will not be back. read more

My family and I have been ordering from this restaurant for a while now. We always order delivery...we live about 7 minutes away from the restaurant. The quality of the delivery service has tanked in my opinion. Every time we order, the food takes longer and longer to come. This wouldn't be a huge deal but when you are told the delivery will take 30 minutes and it takes 90...that's quite frustrating. And 50% of the time the order is wrong. The food is pretty good which is why I generously rated it 2 stars and not just one. My suggestion would be to pick it up and try to avoid delivery if you can And always double check your order immediately. read more

When my wife and I moved here a couple of years ago we looked for a quick take out place. After trying 3 places in the area we loved King Chef. The original place had great food but it wasn't very big so it was something for takeout. My wife loves the chicken vegetable noodle soup every time she is sick. I love the house special fried rice and sesame chicken. My daughter enjoy the sweet and sour chicken. Sometimes the food is a little to greasy for my taste but it's not the norm. New spot is huge very well lit and has a tv in the corner. It is clean and well decorate and has street and lot parking. I am willing to take the longer ride to get my food or just bring the kids down when they want to get out for a quick bite to eat. This is our favorite Chinese food in the area!! We have been to several restaurants in Belleville but the food was really mediocre. We tried this place one night and were really pleased, so when we are in the mood for Chinese- this is our spot! General Tso, shrimp w/ broccoli, fried chicken is Great. Their BBQ spare rib tips are just hard and it doesn't come with any sauce (even when you request more sauce). The only reason they do not get 5 stars is because of the inconsistent service. I ordered fried dumplings, when i go home my wife eat one and said it tasted different, they were vegetables ones. Also when i ordered them the order was for eight. I received 7. I went back and told them of the problem, they said oh no there is meat in them, also i asked why only 7 and was told that they are bigger now and you only get 7. The clerk told me there was nothing they could do for me, so i asked to talk with the owner and the clerk said he was to busy cooking. This is sensational food; the only real knock is their less than ideal menu for diet-conscious eaters which costs a fair deal more than other stops while providing little difference in quality. My boyfriend introduced me to the vegetable lo mein from here and it's delicious. It has plenty of vegetables and is flavorful. A large container of the lo mein is plenty for the two of us. I've also ordered egg rolls from here and they were pretty good. I called to order last night for delivery to Nutley and the lady on the phone was pleasant. The food was delivery pretty quickly and was still piping hot when it arrived. OMG....we live in Harrison and found this place last night, let me tell you....the BEST Chinese Food we have tried since moving here a year ago!!!! Seriously!!!
