Had Yai Chicken

Beautiful space with many delicious menu options - I can't wait to come here again to try more! Great for sharing, as the portions are quite generous. Our appetizers were larger than expected but they sure did capture our appetite! Would highly recommend the Beef Crying Tiger - super juicy beef with a flavorful sauce that complements the beef and salad so well. I got the Had Yai Chicken and am still craving the crispy skin and savory, yellow curry rice. The Duck Pad Thai also looked amazing with an also generous portion of duck.

I've been here a few times with my dad. We are fans. This our go-to Thai spot in Montclair now. FOOD: Solid Thai food. My favorite so far is the Drunk Man Noodle, but most recently we tried a shrimp salad that my dad really liked. Their curry is standard -- hits the spot. SERVICE: Good, no complaints. They are nice here. AMBIANCE: I really like the ambiance here. Really nicely decorated with some super nice lamps. Blue velvet seats. Excellent feel. OVERALL: Our go-to Thai spot in the area! What more is there to say? If you like Thai and nice ambiance, you won't be disappointed.

Frequented for lunch and dinner in past months! This go-round we celebrated our kids' graduation with 10 of us! Brought our own wine and beer & ordered up a large spread and feast! Everything was absolutely hot and delicious and fresh. All who attended loved each dish from appetizer to mains, mocktails, curries and entrees! Service was great and though we got there at 740p with closing at 9pm we had a great time and folks were still there when we left after 930pm! Thanks for a great way to celebrate as a family! Loves the succulent duck, the curry puffs were unreal good and we ordered I believe 3-4 of them for the table. Spring rolls and fresh summer rolls were delicious too. Ordered chicken massan curry, steak, pad Thai and some Thai fried rice. Absolutely delicious all around and highly recommend you go NOW!

First of all the decor is so cute here with Christmas lights and a full size Santa . The light fixtures are great making it din but yet appealing. Ok now on to the food, the dumplings get a solid ten out of ten - thin dough- great filling - the pork appetizer is one of the best. Ginger char flavor that is just so yummy l. The duck was in a sweet sauce so not my favorite and the drunken noodle was good. Service was nice and it's a BYOB so grab a favorite bottle of wine and a friend. Enjoy

Excellent Thai on Walnut Street. Very cozy dining-room. We went for lunch where they offer a lunch special M-F 11:30-3;30. Large selection of entrees to choice with a complimentary appetizer. $14-$17. We had the spring roll and dumpling, all freshly prepared and very tasty. Entrees we tried Pad Thai and the Massaman Curry. All great flavors, staff very friendly. We will definitely be back.

I came here yesterday with my best friend. And we both enjoyed our mocktails and chicken pad Thai. We both ate the same chicken pad Thai. It was my friend's first time trying out Thai food and she enjoyed the chicken pad Thai. The service was amazing, the waitress helped us out to pick our mocktails as we were a bit indecisive. I can't really say much about the ambiance as the restaurant wasn't too busy. I went to the restaurant at 4pm so it was an early dinner and there were two other tables dining. It was quiet but not too quiet I still felt comfortable chatting with my friend. The seats were comfortable and the restaurant was aesthetically pleasing. 10/10 Montclair dining recommendation

There was some issue in the kitchen when we visited so the wait was extremely long. The restaurant is not very big and was crowded with parties waiting to be seated as well as people picking up takeout orders. Despite the crowded waiting area, the staff remained calm and helpful. This location is BYOB. Once we were seated we didn't feel rushed. We had the pad thai (it was ok), the curry (very very good), curry puff (also very good), some steamed dumpling (very good) and a lychee drink. The food came out in a reasonable time and all tasted good. This is a good place for a casual date. The bathroom was clean and smelled good.

The Walnut street area has a bunch of great places - add this one to the list. It's very cute inside and also had some tables outside with a laid back atmosphere. Service was attentive. The menu was standard Thai classics but they are definitely well prepared and seasoned. The prices are a bit higher than some of the other local Thai spots though. We tried the Jade dumplings ($10) and chicken satay ($11) - both were delicious and well flavored. The jade dumplings were a great take for a veggie dumpling option. We also tried the basil fried rice $17 and chicken pad Thai $17 - both were great and a cut above the standard. Also they did a beautiful job of plating. We will be back for sure!

Dunk Drunk Man Noodles

Wow! What a meal. Fresh, imaginative take on traditional Thai fare. High quality ingredients and enjoyable flavor profile. The service is always amazing. BYOB! (No hard liquor allowed) The drunk man noodles is cooked perfectly. The duck is to die for. In a beautiful curry sauce and perfectly crispy skin. All dishes can be requested to be turned up a notch I. The spicy level. I recommend it if you love spicy food. Parking is a bit challenging in this small cute town, worth traveling to for sure. Cheers

Beef Penang Curry

Ambiance is nice, Service was great and food was delish! went here for lunch and had pad thai with duck crab fried rice beef penang curry chicken wings (forgot to take a pic) all were very delicious. Pad thai was a little bit on the sweeter side but still tasty.

We started with the fried Spring Rolls, perfectly paired with a delicious and light sauce. Entrees were Masaman curry (w/chicken) and Pad Kee Mow. Both were excellent. I have to comment on all the fun details in the decor; right down to the fun, Thai movie posters in the restroom, and even the little decorative tray they bring the bill on. All of it adds to the experience. Shout out to Alex, our waiter, who is very good at his job! If you find yourself in Montclair, don't miss this fun, little place.

The pad kee mao had that smoky wok-char flavor with perfectly chewy noodles and just the right level of spice. Also loved the fresh coconut water to cool everything down between bites. Big shoutout to Stephenie, who took amazing care of us throughout the meal. She was warm, attentive, and made the whole experience feel extra welcoming. Definitely a great vegetarian-friendly spot in Montclair if you're craving flavorful Thai comfort food.

Slowly making my way through Jersey's Thai restaurants and seeing which ones stand out... Up next…read moreon my list was Topaz Thai in Belleville, a business that's been sitting in my Yelp collections for awhile. With plenty of positive reviews, I was excited to give it a try! This family-owned biz is on Washington Ave. Parking can be a little annoying since it's a busy street with metered spaces, but there's a small paid lot next door with a limited number of spots. I stopped by on a Saturday evening and was seated right away. The place felt cozy and casual with the charm of a mom-and-pop restaurant. The menu is full of Thai classics, and the lunch specials seem like a great value. Prices are reasonable too, with most entrees under $20. Whenever I try a new Thai spot, I like to get a few staple dishes that I've ordered countless times before. Consider it my unofficial Litmus test! I went with: *Mama Loaded Thai Tacos $11.95 [crispy shells topped with ground chicken, herbs, cilantro, nuts, ginger, and lemon] - Loaded is definitely the right word here. These crispy shells were packed to the brim with flavorful, well-seasoned ground chicken and toppings in every bite. They also served it with a bottle of their EXTRA spicy Thai chili sauce-and trust me, it lives up to its name. Just a few drops had my tongue on fire! They're not traditional tacos, but I liked the Thai-inspired twist on them. The unique flavors were a delicious start to the meal. *Chicken Rama Curry with side of Jasmine rice $16.95 [coconut milk, red curry paste, roasted peanuts, tamarind paste, and fish sauce topped with chicken & mixed vegetables] - The winning dish! The curry was so rich, creamy, and nutty. It was so good that I was tempted to pick up the bowl and drink every last drop LOL. The spice level started off mild, but the heat slowly built up after a few spoonfuls. *Chicken Pad Thai $15.95 [stir-fried thin noodles with egg, peanuts, scallion, bean sprouts, and tamarind sauce] - You can't skip Thailand's national dish! The noodles were perfectly cooked, and they didn't skimp on the protein. I got PLENTY of tender chicken in every bite. The only thing holding it back from being a 5/5 for me was the sauce. Pad thai is known for its balance of savory, sweet, tangy, and nutty flavors, and this was a little TOO sweet for me. The sugar overpowered the other flavors. I wish they had given me a lime wedge to brighten things up. Still, I enjoyed the dish overall and can see it being a hit for anyone who prefers a sweeter pad thai. *Mango Sticky Rice $12.95 [coconut sticky rice with fresh mango and coconut cream] - It's mango season, baby, so there's no way I was leaving without ordering this! The rice was warm, lightly sweet, and infused with a creamy coconut flavor. Absolutely loved the sticky and chewy texture. The mango was more sour/tart than sweet. A riper mango would've made this dessert even better, but this was still the perfect ending to a meal. As for the portion sizes? No complaints. I had leftovers to take home and still felt satisfied. The service was on point! Everyone was kind and attentive. The food came out quickly, so there really wasn't much waiting around. Topaz Thai, you made a strong first impression! Between the homey atmosphere, solid food, reasonable prices, great value, and friendly service, this spot easily earned a second visit. I'm excited to come back and try more menu items!

Upon entering as a first-timer, I was greeted by the owner's wife, Bankie, and led to a table by the window inside a cozy, warm, and welcoming dining area with minimal traditional Thai decor. I decided on the Pad Thai () with fried tofu accompanied by Thai iced tea (). The food was incredibly flavorful and fresh, using the best ingredients, resulting in the perfect balance of spices. Every dish is thoughtfully executed and prepared to provide an authentic taste. The tofu was perfectly cooked. Portion size was just right. The staff was warm, welcoming, and very attentive, which made the whole dining experience even better. Since I had the entire place to myself, I had the honor to speak with the cook/owner, Narit. It was my second time and their first time (per my suggestion). We're all foodies so I was confident they'd enjoy! And I was right :) For starters, we shared a curry puff appetizer (3 pieces). Small size, BIG flavor!! Especially paired with the pickled sauce. Chef's kiss!
