Very nice place with excellent service. I was catching up with a friend I hadn't seen in a very long time and they let us sit there for a couple of hours with no issues. I ordered Ped Nam Puong, a crispy duck fish that was a little sweeter than I normally like. It was good but I think next time I will make a different choice. The place is a little bare on the inside. I miss the cozy, homey decor of Spice Thai and this feels empty compared to that. Still, food was good, service was great and everyone was friendly. read more

Always a welcoming atmosphere here, this family run restaurant is always in our go to mix. The food is always great, I've been getting the tilapia special lately (pictured) which is a struggle to stop from finishing even when I'm full. Service is always great, as it's family run and they care about their customers. Highly highly recommend. read more

Was in the mood for Thai food and ordered the lunch special of the chili rice and shrimp L6. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted. The food was ready and I paid. When I dug in, the food was delicious! I just wish they put more shrimp in the dish. read more

EXCELLENT, freshly made Thai dishes. And they accommodate dietary issues with no problem. I have celiac, so being gluten-free is a must. Staff and chef take great care in this regard. And menu is clearly marked. Wonderful, friendly owner and staff, and a lovely intimate setting. I highly recommend! read more

Very disappointing. We ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken. There was barely any meat or chicken. Just lots of rice that they charged you $18 for. Service was good and manager was friendly. Ambiance was outdated. I wouldn't come back because it terrible value. read more

I've been a loyal customer for many, many years but today will be my last order with them. I ordered over $90 worth of food and it was all tasteless!!! The food lacked seasonings with the main one being basil! Basil is the main herb in Thai food and I did not taste it at all. The Thai fried rice was so damn tasteless I barely ate it. The seafood medley was fishy and that might be due to the lack of seasonings. The fried calamari did not have any salt!!! And to top it all off, the portions were the smallest ever. My friend picked up an order recently and we got more food so I can only surmise that the delivery orders contain less food (I've heard that but never believed it until today). I will never order from them again and I certainly will NOT recommend them. I know prices are high but this is absolutely ridiculous especially where the seasonings are concerned. read more

The curry puffs were to die for. I thought they were amazing and the sauce made them 10 times better. The drunken noodles were good. They reminded me of chow fun. I'm just not a fan of chow fun so next time I come I would order something else. Would recommend, a bit pricey. This order was $25. read more

Boonsong Thai came highly rated through a gluten-free food app and I couldn't wait to try it out. They are currently offering takeout during COVID, so when I knew I would be in the area, I opted to pick some up. It was super easy ordering over the phone and the person I spoke to made me feel at ease with ensuring my meal was gluten-free and vegetarian. My boyfriend and I both agreed that their drunken noodles could have been spicier, but it was nothing a few pepper flakes couldn't enhance. My friends ordered pad thai and pad see ew, which they enjoyed. They have a large menu and a plethora of gluten-free options available. read more

In an area that is abundant in really good Thai restaurants, add 1 more to the list making your decision even more difficult. We had the appetizer sampler, pretty much standard Thai offerings. The soft shell crab in (vampire killer) garlic sauce was outstanding! The Seafood Nam Prik Pow was a nice sized portion of shrimp, calamari and scallops.I asked for the level of heat at 8/10 and it was delivered! Next time I'll go for a 9. In the end, 3 entrees plus the app came out to a whopping $66. Definitely can't beat the prices here. Friendly and helpful staff , BYO and a colorful, relaxing atmosphere adds up to a return trip! read more

We had take out today and the food was really good. We will be ordering again! We had Spring rolls, dumplings, chicken on a stick, Thai Iced tea, Pad see ew, chicken & veg with garlic sauce, beef & veg with garlic sauce, Thai fried rice with pork, and an amazing soup! read more

Tiny portions and expensive. I ordered mixed vegetables in garlic sauce and it had no flavor, none. The "sauce" was watery and bland. Luckily there was a bottle of Thai chili sauce in the cabinet to make it better. $14.95 for a TINY takeout container - never again. Other dishes like pad Thai and pad see ew have good flavor but again pricy for very stingy portions. read more

It is the best thai food I have ever eaten and i m a big foodie , it is like a hole on the wall little hidden gem with excellent food , i have been ordering from this place past 10 years and never disappoints It is not very well decorated but definitely 5 star food , try it and you'll know what i mean read more

I'd give Boonsong an extra half star- I really don't think its a 4 or a 3. The wait staff is awesome- as is the manager. So why not higher? They close really early- 9:30; and considering that food is hard to find in Bloomfield past 9pm, they really should want to be picking up all that business they miss out on. People order out usually because they get home too late from work, and since many commute to NYC, its just a missed opportunity. The other reason its not higher rated for me, is that when Ive called in an order and its within 2 minutes of their 9:30pm cut off time, they refuse to take it- thats just bad business. Now, on to the food- The fried calamari appetizer is seriously good- prepared well with a really good sauce- I always order the sauce with my pad thai. The papaya salad with shrimp is also excellent- some of the best Ive had anywhere- small dried shrimp in the spiciest tangiest chili lime sauce- most excellent. The curries are good, not fantastic, good. My main complaint on the curries is the size- if you order this as takeout, the Massamun curry for example (first thing I ever ordered from them) was in a small pint container the same size as a wonton soup container- it had 5 pieces of small somewhat tender beef, and really light on the potatoes and onions, so little peanuts I'm not sure it even had them. Noodles: Here is where they get my vote of confidence, Pad Thai- really well done, has all the right stuff in abundance- great as a lunch special, not too different in size or price from dinner though- this is something they need to work on- lunch specials are anything but special- expensive in comparison to the regular menu, not much different. Drunken Noodles- really pretty good too. The entrees Ive had here were all good. I cant recall the name of the dishes I had, but one was a seafood and noodle dish with chinese eggplant tat was very good and if you say, "make it Thai spicy", they will look at you oddly and ask if you're sure...one waitress I had there told me she doesnt even eat it like that- and yes, they are all from Thailand- cute too :) If you like spicy, this is the place to go. So, I'd really like to up the rating another star, lets see if they read these reviews- I will keep coming (even though at one time I specifically talked to the manager and swore I wouldnt after that first small curry disappointment). Overall the food seems reasonable, but if you take in to account that the portions are designed for diners who order multiple courses- you can easily spend more than you wanted to, and with Thai food, that's really not necessary- none of these dishes are a shareable size at all- that is their downfall; one shouldnt need to spend $60 to feed two people. read more

Always an excellent meal. I love the fact that they have an entire menu for vegetarian dishes as well as traditional Thai dishes. The owner is always willing to answer any questions you may have. You won't be disappointed. read more

Did not even get the chance to eat here! Terrible phone order experience! I called the number listed here on yelp, and when I asked to place an order to takout the gentleman yelled, "NO" at me and hung up the phone. Seems all the "service" related reviews here were on point. read more

Great food but more importantly when I asked for maximum spiciness, they gave it to me. Granted they asked me twice if I was sure but I got it! And let me tell you, that spice level is not for the faint of heart. It is worth it though. read more

The best Thai food i've had in this area. We checked them out for Bloomfield Restaurant week. We didn't take advantage of the restaurant week menu (frankly, we didn't know what it was) and we ordered a la carte. Appetizers: Curry Puffs & Crispy Noodles with Shrimp Entrees: Soft Shell Crab night Basil Sauce, Shrimp Noodles in Basil Sauce, Duck in Tamarind Sauce, & Red Curry duck. The service was heartwarming, welcoming, and timely. The food quality and portions were more than excellent. The spice level is to taste. We ordered medium which had a good kick but tolerable - nothing that a simple glass of ice water didn't fix. (Rita's is two stores down if you need some more help ) They offer street parking but with all the food you end up eating there, you'll need a good walk. read more

The restaurant looks very nice and the staff is very pleasant, great service! The food is sooo delicious!! We ordered Thai iced tea and lemonade, served in mason jars (who does not love that), both drinks were great! From the appetizers, I selected the tofu tod and my sister chose the vegetable dumpling. Both very tasty and cooked very well. The tofu was lightly fried but no grease which I loved because a lot of places serve their fried tofu greasy, but not this place , perfectly cooked. I had the tofu pad Thai for my entree, I would recommend this dish to anyone who eats here. My sister had pineapple fried rice with shrimp and She loved it! You are getting your money's worth with amount of food you receive which is always good! Overall , I would say if you are looking for a good Thai place this is it! Good prices, great food and great service!! read more

Hate to say it but this place has gone downhill in a big way. I have no complaints with the way it's run, or the service, everybody there seems very nice. I've eaten in and had takeout a handful of times over the years... the food is now surprisingly terrible. There was no flavor, I couldn't tell I was eating Thai food at all. We threw most of it away. Hopefully it was a bad night. read more

Happy I found a new Thai place in the area where I work bc there aren't a lot of ethnic food places around this way. I listened to another reviewer and got the curry puffs and I'm happy i did. I never had them before but I like curry chicken so I gave it a shot! They were good tasting and crispy, a tad sweet but not overwhelming. I didn't even need to try the cucumber sauce bc I was satisfied with the curry, sweet and crispy taste combination. I also ordered pad Thai w/ shrimp and that was also good: thin noodles paired with the peanuts, shrimp and I think Tofu, bean sprouts (and I believe egg), all in in one bite tasted great. Alone the noodles tasted a tad salty but the tofu ( i think that's what it is) tasted AMAZINGLY Good. The customer service was exceptional. I highly recommend the curry puffs and next time I'm going to need to up the spicy flavor. I forgot to mention that with my order. read more

Went for lunch with my boyfriend who loves authentic Thai food which is definitely what we got! Service was good, the food was great with proper portions. The salad you get before your appetizer comes out had a peanut type of dressing could definitely tell it was homemade. We ordered the appetizer sampler, and I got Larb as my main dish. The Larb was a bit too spicy to my liking but was so good I kept fighting the spice. The food came out on a timely manner, wish I didnt have to rush to go to work so I could have enjoyed the dessert that they offered. Maybe next time. They also Deliver!! read more

Went there for lunch. Start to finish took about 1.5 hours :::Yikes:::: Unfortunately we had a person ahead of us who was allergic to everything and had to scrutinize the menu with a microscope. She probably added 45 minutes of wait time to our experience. I ordered the tom yum soup - had tomatoes in it which was odd for me - but soup was flavorful I also had the duck salad which was drenched in a sauce that i'm still paying for a day later. Not very happy. read more

I really like how they had an entire vegetarian menu so there were plenty of options. I split the curry puffs with my friend which tasted like a sweeter samosa. They were good but I probably wouldn't order it again. Next I had the tom yum soup and papaya salad. I didn't like the soup at first but the more I ate the more I enjoyed it. It was light and spicy but definitely had a strong tomato flavor. The papaya salad was amazing-highly recommend! Juicy and crunchy with a bit of a kick and generous portion. Waiters were friendly. Overall, a good time. read more

We had the simplest of lunch takeout orders (2 pad thais, that's it) and were irritated, overcharged, and extremely disappointed. Could not even order a lunch to be picked up until this place opened at noon. They would not deliver lunch and the guy on the phone denied that soup came with the two pad thais. It was printed on their menu! Told me to give them time to make the lunch since they only opened at noon. WTF? Bland food, no sides, horrible service, we had to to pick up - all for $11 apiece. A rip off in every way. BEWARE! Find ANY ofter place to eat. read more

Fresh & delicious. My husband & I have been eating here for several years. A few of our favorites: Panang curry, Tofu Pad Khing, Pad see-ew w/chicken. The owner is a lovely man & has always made us feel welcome & comfortable when dining together and equally welcome when I've dined alone. Since covid-19 has changed our world, we are no longer dining in but have enjoyed many take out dishes from this restaurant. Not only are they still consistently good, I appreciate the care & safety the owner takes. I'll call in my order & he delivers it to my car. Highly recommended! read more

Just had a really nice lunch here today! Clean and quick. Large menu so will return to try other items soon. Salad to start, pretty standard. I started going to this restaurant after my favorite Thai restaurant closed. At first it was OK... the portions are small but the taste of the food is very similar to the food in Thailand. The reason why I'm leaving two stars is not because of the food, it's because of the service. I understand that they close during the afternoon and resume business at 5. I was there at 5:08, standing outside their locked door. The man who works there - or maybe he's the owner - just stood there, looked at me, and walked inside the kitchen, leaving me standing out in the cold. (It's winter!) I got back in my car and drove a few blocks down to Brookside Thai instead. read more

Great new thai place! I can't comment on the poor service that the previous reviewer experienced -- we got takeout. But the food itself was amazing. The pad thai was really unusual -- flavorful yet light. Spicy, tangy, peanutty- yum! Spicy basil tofu was just as good, as was the red curry. None of the dishes seemed very heavy or greasy at all. Veggies were fresh! We will definitely be ordering from this place again, and will likely make it our go-to Thai takeout place. read more
